Part 47:

It was around 7 in the morning when Nupur peeped out of her dreams into reality and realizing that the warmth of the day was here to stay, she woke up all fresh. Well, who needed sleep to dream, now that reality was better than any dream that she would want to see. Somehow she felt so extremely happy that it amazed her that she didn't feel as much pain in her wounds as she felt in the morning every day eversince she had met the accident. She was more than happy; sleep had found it hard to get a grip on her at night, it was finding it now as well until sleep was shown the door by Nupur as she freshened up and opened the bedroom door to make the most of this fateful day. It was a significant moment in her life and she wanted to live every moment of it.

As she walked outside, she did not find Mayank in his 'sofa-cum-bed', now. She looked around and realized he was already in bath, getting ready for his favourite routine, his office routine.

She stomped her foot slightly and went and sat down at the dining table, her gaze fixed at all the locations where ever they had shared their moments together yesterday night, as if she could re-iterate it in her mind, or so to say relive it all over again. She didn't recognize her smile had amazed another person standing in front of her out of no where.

Shilpa Sharma called her out of her day-dreaming by saying, "Nupur beta, aankhein khol ke sapne dekhne se achcha hai tum so kar hi sapne dekh lo naa!"

Nupur saw her dream slip by as she realized the fact that not all the moments can be alike; how was she supposed to convey to her that she was not aiming at those dreams; her day-dreams were much more hopeful than that.

She tried explaining, "Ma main sapna thodi dekh rahi thi…woh aaj ki subah kitni achchi hai naa…Good Morning!"

Shilpa Sharma smiled and put down a cup of tea in front of her and said, "Good Morning Beta…par yeh mujhe mat explain karo" and indicating her to come closer by hand she whispered slowly, "Mayank se bach ke rehna…woh bhi uth gaya hai…usne phir tumhe itni subah jagey dekh liya naa…toh yaad hai naa pichli baar…"

Shilpa Sharma was indicating to a scenario few days back, where Mayank had seen Nupur working in the kitchen early morning and had picked her up and put her on bed announcing her resting was a serious business.

Nupur tried to snap the issue by her casual statement, her confidence making her beam, "Aap chinta mat karo Ma, iss baar Mayank kuch nahi bolega…maine Mayank ko pataa liya hai…"

Nupur heard Shilpa Sharma say, "Kya?" in anticipation and a smile while she also heard Mayank echo his mother's words, who was now standing in front of her, all ready to go to the office, but now standing here with his brows furrowed repeating his Mom's words.

Nupur saw her day-dreaming ditch her for the second time today when she saw Mayank back to his usual self. Why the hell did she let the moment go by yesterday at all? She cursed herself a little for walking off when Mayank was being so romantic to her yesterday. And right now, she once rechecked herself to think again if it was all not a dream actually. She looked at him again and she was sure it wasn't. But he was back to being 'The Mayank Sharma' that she already knew and loved. What else was she expecting anyways?

She tried an odd-slight wink at him and said, "Arrey…yaad hai Mayank…umm…tumne kaha tha ki ab subah uthne mein koi problem nahi hai…haina…thoda active banna chahiye…naa?" She made things up while speaking, hoping against hope that Mayank would understand her situation and help her up.

Mayank denied with his eyes that he wasn't taking part in any of her new drama while he also said, "Jee nahi maine aisa kuch nahi kaha tha…Nupur tum aise bahane laati kahan se ho?"

Nupur glared to appreciate his non-chalant unsupportive-ness and tried again, "Achcha…toh yeh toh yaad hai naa ki maine kaha tha ki ab main apna khayal achche se rakhungi aur tumne smile di thi…yaad hai naa?"

Mayank looked confused with her point and Shilpa looked confused with the whole conversation and by what it meant.

Shilpa stopped Nupur from trying more and said, "Ek minute Nupur…kya tum dono yeh sab confusion badhane ke liye keh rahe ho ya dur karne ke liye? Jo bhi ho ek dusre ko good morning kar ke din ki shuruaat karo aise jhagad ke nahi…"

Nupur spoke dejectedly before anyone else knew, "Ussi liye toh Ma itne jaldi uthi thi…aur…"

Shilpa eyed Nupur with curiosity while Nupur tried to duck Mayank's stern glare. Shilpa laughed out loud at both their reactions and said a bit formally and a bit sweetly, "Good Morning Nupur" and indicated Mayank to carry on the same while she left the two of them, and walked to the kitchen.

Mayank made a face at Shilpa's way of teasing them and looked at Nupur still glaring for spilling the beans when she moved her face away in a child-like complaining face for all going wrong and him not getting her point. It was true, relationships can never fast-forward in terms of understanding between the two; it only grew slowly, with time.

Mayank shook his head and smiled before he said slowly smiling, "Good morning Nupur" with a gaze that asked for her agreement with him once again. The worst part was, she melted in a second; that was just so wrong that she couldn't hold onto her anger when she looked at his smile and eyes but then wasn't that the most amazing thing too!

She repeated with a twisted mouth, "Good morning!" and continued a bit louder, "Aur waise bhi main toh isliye jaldi uthi thi kyunki mujhe…hmm…subah jaldi uthne se sehat bani rehti aur subah tazaa-tazaa chai peene se bhi din bhar freshness bani rehti hai…hai naa Ma?" she called out towards kitchen and Mayank faked a cough and said smiling, "Okay!" and showed her thumbs-up while she made a face before walking a few steps away when she heard him say, "Aur thank you…mere din mein bhi aaj subah subah freshness bharne ke liye…"

If Nupur could afford a run right now, she would have run to hug him for saying this to her; he was surely uniquely romantic in his own way. Her day had turned brighter and her heart leaped its beats.

She turned around and smiled her sunshine smile to him. Walking towards him she asked, "Matlab tum naraz nahi hone wale mujh par abhi?"

Mayank denied by his head clearly saying, "Nahi!"

She smiled in dis-believe and paused all her movements to look at him for a brief moment.

Mayank teased, "Nupur abhi mujhe office ke liye deri ho jayegi, tum mujhe sham ko dekh lena okay?"

Nupur defended herself, "Nahi toh...main kahan...?"

Nupur turned red, embarrassed and turned around and then as he moved away she called him back, "1 sec, 1 sec Mayank…tumne ek baat notice ki?"

Mayank asked completely clueless, "Kya?"

Nupur said a bit shy, "Woh jo tumne kaha woh toh maine kaha hi nahi!"

Mayank repeated his expression and words, "Kya?"

Nupur said astounded, "Tumne notice hi nahi kiya…tab kya faayda…jab tumhare liye notice karne wali baat hi nahi hai toh tum notice karoge hi kyu..khair chodo…tum jao…tumhe office ke liye deri ho rahi thi naa…?"

Mayank asked confused, "Nupur kya tumne notice notice lagaa rakha hai?"

Nupur said, "Soch ke batana…ab bye…have a nice day…"she completed half smiling, half challenging.

Mayank said a 'bye' loudly to Shilpa Sharma followed a confused bye to Nupur.

Nupur smiled but she was as confused inside, how could Mayank not notice it at all?
