Chapter 35:

Kria woke up very early in the morning. She woke up and found Rey next to her. She got up with a jerk and sat on the bed,a little away from Rey.Rey moved in his sleep when she got up but then he didn't wake up. Kria moved the hair falling on her face. She thought about how she'd asked Rey to stay with her. Thank God Sharon's parents were not home yet. Otherwise what they would be thinking of her? "What will Rey think about me??" Kria asked, embarrassed. She got up from the bed and went downstairs to make herself a cup of coffee. She found Sharon sitting on the couch reading the newspaper. When she saw Kria, she smiled. "Good morning. Feeling better?" Sharon asked, even though she knew it was a silly question. "I'm better. Thanks." Kria said. "Do you want some coffee?" Kria asked. "Sure. I was waiting for you to wake up so that you'd make coffee. I'm too lazy." Sharon said, but she said that because she wanted to take Kria's mind off the previous night. "Kayy. I'll make it." Kria said, and went into the kitchen. "Swayam called. Rey has to go for practice at 9." Sharon said. "Go wake him up yourself." Kria said, turning back to look at Sharon and smiling. "Hey. You're his girlfriend. You wake him up?" Sharon said. "You're his best friend. You can wake him up too, you know?" Kria said. "No you wake him up." Sharon said. "No you." Kria said, and they started arguing as to who would wake Rey up.

"GUYSS!! You don't have to argue. I woke myself up." Rey said, standing there with a cheesy smile. He went to Kria, kissed her on the cheek, waved bye to both of them and left Sharon's house. He went to his own house and was ready to go to practice. They were going to the Nationals after 2 months. So they had to be ready.

Sharon forced Kria into going shopping with her. "I'm not interested Shar. And I don't want to buy any dress right now." Kria said. "Who's going there for buying. Let's window shop." Sharon said. "C'mon Kria. Don't be such a couch potato. We can watch TV later. Guess what? Have you heard the new CD of Tay?" Sharon said. "I heard a few songs. She is amazing right?" Kria asked. "She is. C'mon her cd is there in the mall. Please come. If we are lucky, we'll get tickets to go to her concert." Sharon said. "Really??? Wow. Then let's go." Kria said, smiling. Sharon was relieved that Kria was atleast smiling. She and Kria dressed up and went to the mall. Like Sharon had said, all they did was window shop. And they went into the music store and listened to their fav albums and all. While they were in the mall, Sharon's phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and smiled.

"Let me guess. It's Swayam, isn't it?" Kria asked, nudging Sharon. "Yea. Just a second. I'll talk to him and come." Sharon said. "Chill. Take your time." Kria said, and smiled as she watched Sharon talk on the phone to Swayam. She checked her phone. No calls or messages from Rey. "Why hasn't he called me yet? He always calls me when they have a break." Kria thought. Her phone rang. She thought it was from Rey but it was from her Aashi. "Hello?" Kria answered. "Kri, come home soon. We have that project to do remember?" Aashi said. "Omg! Ya! I totally forgot. Sorry Ash, I'll be home in sometime." Kria said, and hung up. She went to Sharon and tapped on her shoulder. Sharon turned back to see who it was. "One second.Sorry for disturbing while you're on the phone but I have to go home. Aashi and I have to do some project on Psychology." Kria said. "I'll see you in the evening." "Okay. Text me later. And I'll see you at 6." Sharon said. Kria went home. When Kria went home, Kria's mom hugged her tight. "It's okay Kria. We're here for you alright. You don't have to worry about anything." She said. "I know you're there for me, Mom. That's why I'm here." Kria said. She kissed her Mom on the cheek and went to her room. She kept her bag and then went to Aashi's room to do the project. They took ages to complete it but when they completed it, they were quite satisfied as to how it had turned out. Kria and Aashi hi5d. "Kria, are you really okay?" Aashi asked. "I'm fine Ash. Don't worry." Kria said. "Kri, even though we've fought a lot, mostly about Rey and all, you're still my best friend and sister alright? I can't let anything happen to you. I miss us being those crazy sisters." Aashi said. "I know. Me too." Kria said. Aashi hugged Kria. "So, we'll go hang out at the park tomorrow evening. Even though it's a school night. Just like old times. Remember how we used to come home late on a school night and Mom used to scream at us?" Kria asked. "I know. We would be screwed whenever we got home. So tomorrow we're going to the park. And don't forget it's your turn to pay for icecream tomorrow." Aashi said. "You remember? I thought you forgot." Kria said, hitting Aashi. "Crazy things with your best friend can never be forgotten Kri! I love you sis." Aashi said. "I love you too Ash." Kria said. "It has been ages since you called me Ash. I missed it." Aashi said. "I know right. It's been so long since we talked like old times." Kria said. They made their plans and Kria then went to do her remaining homework which she remembered suddenly. She kept checking her phone constantly but no sign of Rey's calls or messages. "What is wrong with him?" Kria thought. She finished her homework after sometime.

"Hello!!!! I'm here!" Sharon screamed, opening Kria's door. Kria was just lost in her thoughts which got disrupted when Sharon screamed. "Hey, you don't have to scare me like this!" Kria said. "Then what? You want me to knock on the door?" Sharon asked. "You're an hour late." Kria said. "Sorry. I was at the airport saying goobye'.Hey! Aren't you going to say goodbye to Rey?" Sharon asked. "Goodbye? For what???" Kria asked, surprised. "Didn't Rey tell you?" Sharon asked. "Tell me what?" Kria asked, getting more curious. "The team from our school. They're going for training in California because they are going to be playing Nationals soon." Sharon said. "What??? For how long? And who told you this?" Kria asked. "Swayam ofcourse. Who else would tell me? And yea, I can't believe Rey didn't tell you when he's going for so long. They'll return only after a month." Sharon asked. "WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? And why didn't Rey tell me??" Kria asked. She took her phone and rang Rey's number. This time he picked it up. "Why didn't you tell me?" Kria asked. "Kria..I'm.." Rey said, thinking of what to say to her. How can he tell her that he's leaving for a month when he promised her that he wouldn't leave her at all. "I don't know all that. You're leaving for a month and you didn't even bother to tell me. I thought you shared everything with me. I didn't expect this.And such an important part you didn't bother to tell me. Seriously?" Kria asked. "Kria. I'm sorry. I didn't want to upset you more. Please Kria." Rey said. After a lot of apologizing from Rey's side, Kria forgave him. "It's okay. Take care of yourself. I love you." Kria said, and hung up. "Oh gosh! The way you guys fight is unbelievable." Sharon said. "Yea,yea. Weren't we supposed to do World History Homework." Kria asked. "Yea, let's do it. C'mon." Sharon said, and they sat down to do their next homework.

Next morning, Kria went to school with Aashi after a long time. Kria forgave Rey but she was still upset with him. Very upset. First period was Algebra for her. She didn't even feel like attending class but she had to if she wanted to get into her dream college. She checked her phone before going to Algebra. No messages from Rey. She was about to keep her phone inside her locker when her phone beeped. She checked to see who's text it was. It was from Rey. She smiled a little, but not that usual cheerful smile of hers. The message read:

Hey , Kri. Missing you already. 😭 Have a nice day and take care of yourself. 😊

And I'll be back before you close and open your eyes. 😊

Kria replied back.

Missing you too. I will. You too.

She hoped that Rey would find out that she was still upset with him. When she texted people, she used a lot of emoticons but today when she replied to Rey, it was just text, no emoticons.

The bell rang. She ran to her class. The class started but all she could think about was the phone call. About why her sister had told her that the family wanted her back. "Kria, listen to the class please." The teacher said. Kria nodded and tried to listen to class but she couldn't. During lunch, She met Sharon and like every other day, they talked about what had happened in their classes and all. Ms.Martinez was on leave that day and so dance class was cancelled. Sharon said she'd drop Kria home but Kria refused. She preferred to walk alone that day.

In the evening, she had plans with Aashi. They went to the park like they had planned and then they ate icecream and did all the fun stuff which they used to do ages back. They were eating ice cream sitting on the park bench, when Aashi noticed that Kria was really upset. "Kria, are you okay?" Aashi asked. "Yea,I'm very fine. Why do you ask?" Kria asked. "Don't lie Kria. I know you enough. I know when you're upset. Tell me what happened. Are you still upset about that call?" Aashi asked. "No no. I forgot about the call.It's nothing.Leave it." Kria said. "Is it because of Rey?" Aashi asked, placing her hand on Kria's shoulder. Kria looked at her as if Aashi had read her mind. "How'd you know?" Kria asked. "Do you think I'm a fool? I'm your sister." Aashi said. "What did he do?" "Nothing. It's a silly reason. He didn't tell me that he was going for training for a month till the last minute. I thought we trusted each other enough to share everything." Kria said. "Aww..Kri. Don't worry sis. I'm pretty sure there was a valid reason. And a relationship always has ups and downs right?" Aashi asked. Kria nodded. "Then why are you worrying? Take a chill pill. I'm sure he'll be thinking about you this very minute. And maybe he'll even call you know." Aashi said. And like a miracle, Kria's phone rang. Kria checked the caller ID to see Rey calling. "You can predict the future. I'm telling you." Kria said to Aashi and went to talk to Rey. They talked normally after which Aashi and Kria went home, and the day ended.
