But due to my exams and my recent health scare it means I won't be updating for at least May when my exams are over.

I just need so time to rest and recuperate and then prepare for my final semseter exams.

I hope you can understand and I am really sorry because I myself hate it when I find a nice FF and the author does not update for long periods of times. I will try my best to drop chapter here and there but if not then from the end of May frequent updates will resume all the way until September.

And I just want to say thank you to all my readers for all your likes and comments and for sticking my me even when I dn't update for long periods of time. You guys have gotten my stories this far and I am grateful to each and every one of you guys.

Also happy belated holi to all my Hindu buddies.

This chapter might be slightly confusing for you guys to comprehend. It's going to be in the form of a newspaper article I just thought to clarify that in case you get confused. But if after this little note you still get confused then feel free to scrap or PM me to help clear your confusion.

And thank you for being so understanding as to why I have not been updating. If you have not already then please refer to the note on page 67 for further explanations'.

Also this will be my final update in the next couple of months. But by the end of May updates will be more continuous.

I have also decided that if the amount of likes and comments I have do not pick up in the next couple of chapters then I shall be discontinuing this FF as well as all my others indefinitely.

This chapter is dedicated to dumas for saying I rock! I have never been told I rock before so that was such a nice compliment. Thanks Kathrina.

Chapter 18 enjoy!

Chapter 18A:

Khushi walked home with her new found strength ready to take on the world. When she got home she saw that everyone was home gathered around the table with newspapers surrounding them. Khushi knew that there must be a reason as to why all the family would be gathered around together. The family never sat together unless the matter involved strict politics.

Slowly so as not to attract too much attention to herself she picked up one of the newspaper and looked at the title. 'Another Day Another Death' read the title. Khushi was intrigued. She began to read further. 'Two people have been found dead in the Eastern District. When looked into the inquiry in detail it was found that the corpses belong to a male and a female. When examined it was found that the woman had 'Om' necklace around her neck leading to speculation that she was a Hindu whilst the male had a copy of the holy Muslim book leading to speculation that this another honour killing done to prevent inter-racial marriages. The male looked to be around 23 whilst the woman adorned in what can be guessed was a bridal dress looked to be about 19 years old. Both died from a single stab wound to the heart. How long will this go on? How long will inter-racial marriages be damned in this district? It can only be speculated. Reporter RM Alvid'

Khushi started at the newspaper article in front of her. She then went back to the and as she did she saw that her Rishi Chachu had returned. He was sitting on the sofa beside her Babuji. He and his five sons along with her Babuji were talking. 'Its good at least that Infidel died. He was a Muslim yet he dared to marry a Hindu?. I warned him not to marry her but he didn't listen to me. And now he has to pay the consequences for it' said Rishi. 'You are absolutely Bhaijaan' said Babuji. 'Our sons killed them in the middle of the street ni front of the whole society so that everyone can see what happens when they dare to marry a person outside their caste' said Babuji as he pat all five of Rishi's sons on the back.

Khushi stood rooted to the spot as she heard her entire so called family go on and on about this as if it was something good. It was not! Inter-racial marriages showed unity and understanding it was a good thing not a bad thing thought Khushi. She did nothing she could not all she could do was move methodically up the stairs towards her room.

Once she was in she could do nothing apart from stare at the article in her hands. The girl was only 19 years old. She was only three years younger than her. And that was the life she had? Her life had to come to an abrupt end for what? Because she dared to love someone who did not worship God in the same way as she did. So what if the man worshiped Allah (SWT) and the girl worshipped Bhagvan? God was everyone's. He cannot be claimed thought Khushi.

Her and Arnav had a doomed and forbidden story from the start that much she knew. But never did she think that her family would become thirsty for his blood. And she was the one that was responsible for it. It was not like she had asked to fall in love with a person who did not belong to her religion it just happened. In love there never were any restrictions. Love just happened when it was supposed to. Khushi just could not understand why her family thought that it was a bad thing for inter-racial marriages to happen.

It was because of politics. Politics had taken over her whole family. It had taken over her entire childhood too. She hated politics and this so called 'society' society had no right to tell her that her love for her husband was flawed because he worshipped God differently to her. And she had asked for God to forgive her and He had she could feel it. So if God was happy with it then why could society not let it go?

Khushi quietly slipped downstairs again after composing herself. She was going to let her family know of her plans. She was not going to be their sheep dog anymore. She would move out. She would stand on her own two feet. She would fight for her child and for her husband. And she would avenge the death of all those lovers who had to die just because they dared to love someone from outside their caste. But as she went down what she heard her Rishi uncle say made her root to the spot.

'Did you find that guy?'
asked Rishi? 'Which guy Bhaijaan?' asked Babuji. 'The one that ran away with our Khushi' said Rishi. 'Yes, Khaled and Omar located him. We should kill him tonight and make an example out of him in front of the whole society' spat her Babuji with an upmost vehemence.

Khushi could do nothing but let out a loud gasp. They planned on killing him?! Khushi knew that something had to be done. There was no way they were going to kill him. On the night of their marriage she had promised him that she would protect him love him and care for him always and she planned on keeping that promise. She would protect her husband no matter what.
