part 8
Kripa woke up and quickly looked at the time. It was 2 in the morning. She had woken up atleast 3 times in the past 2 hours. She kept looking at the time over and over again, hoping that it would go by faster. But all she xould do was count each second until it was morning and it was time to talk to Angad. She had thought about them all this while and she had made up her mind. She wasnt going to ruin things between them. This was probably just a phase of life where she wanted someone to be close to her. She sat up and rested her head on the head rest. Suddenly her phone rang. Wondering who it could have been at that hour, she picked it up
K: hello?
A: kripa??
K: angad tum...iss waqt?
A: kripa im really sorry
K: sorry? for what angad?
A: aaj sahil ne kaha ke tum mere wajah se upset thi
K: sahil ne? kab?
A: tumhare jane ke baad...restaurant mein!
K: oh...nahi angad. i wasnt upset because of you...i was just a little....i was upset with myself okay?
A: what? but why?
K: nothing angad..its not important.
A: it is kripa...it really is. i told you i dont like tears in your eyes...didnt i?
K: yea...anyway. theres no point talking about all this. go to sleep and ill see you tomorrow?
A: umm...ek kaam karo. come outside
K: waht?
A: listen to me and come downstairs!!
K: angad tum pagal ho gaye ho! its 2 am. im not coming down now!
A: ok fine...ummm come to your balcony!
K: angad?
A: meri baat to suno!
K: ok fine.
Kripa got up and slided the doors open to her balcony. The moonlight struck her face and she quickly closed her eyes to resist the brightness. It was a beautiful night and kripa smiled as she looked at the moon.
K: ok angad. im out in the balcony! now what?
A: now...look right ahead of you...yea right there!
Kripa moved her head and smiled as she saw Angad standing in front of her....on the dark street. Angad looked up at her as their eyes met. She looked so beautiful under the moon, he thought. Kripa looked away for a moment, smiling to herself. Angad waved to her and kripa nodded her head and waved back. She got back on the phone.
K: angad tum yaha kya kar rahe ho?
A: kuch nahi...bas tumhe milne aaya tha. i wanted to make sure that you werent crying.
K: how can i cry when you are in front of me...you always make me smile angad...always!
A: good! ok then i think im gonna leave now! see you tomorrow
K: ok..
A: bye...
K: bye..
A: bye..
Angad is about to shut off his phone when he hears kripa's voice
K: angad suno!
A: yea?
K: i actually...we...i mean i wanted to talk to you about something
A: ha bolo...
K: on the phone?
A: ummm...ok tomorrow...at 12 in the cafe. ok?
K: tomorrow? but...fine, ill see you tomorrow.
A: bye.
K: bye.
Kripa quickly turned her phone off and looked at Angad as he got into his Jeep and drove off. She sighed at the sight and went back to her room. She sat on her bed with a jerk and then fell back on it, resting her head on the pillow. Suddenly, she heard the door bell ring. She quickly sat up and wondered who it was. Suddenly, her breathing got heavier when she thought about who it could be at this hour. Her feet slowly touched the floor and she walked towards her door.
" Kaun hai?", she whispered. But no one answered. She moved closer to it and peeked through the peep hole and saw no one there. She had a foreboded feeling and she closed her eyes to gasp a breath. Suddenly the door bell rang again and Kripa opened her eyes in shock. There was a tear in her eye and she tried to breathe again. When the door bell rang the third time, her heart beat fastened up to over a thousand beats per minute. Her hands moved to the door knob and she breathed again before she could open the door. " Who is it??", she yelled this time. " Kripa its ANGAD". She heard the reply. She quickly opened the door and hugged him. Angad held her into his arms. The instant she hit his arms, she started to cry. Angad tried to calm her down but she continued to cry like she had lost something dear to her.
A: kripa...kripa whats wrong? tum itna ro kyon rahi ho?
She didnt say anything. Her tears fell on his bare shoulders and quickly pulled her into his embrace and went into the apartment. He closed the door and made her sit on the couch. She continued to cry, not looking at him. Angad took her face in his hands and looked into her eyes.
A: whats wrong Kripa?
Kripa looked at him and then pushed his hands away. Angad looked at her in surprise and tried to hold her again. Kripa pushed him again and started to hit his arm really hard.
K: how dare you angad? tum aisa kaise kar sakte ho? you scared me dammmit!! agar tum...agar tum nahi hote to...to mein......
Kripa started hitting him again and angad tried to resist. He grabbed her arms and held her tightly.
A: sshhh!!!
Kripa looked into his eyes and calmed down. Angad moved his hand closer to her and held her face again. He could hear her heart beating really fast. He sat next to her and embraced her. Kripa rested her head on Angad's shoulder and relaxed a little.
K: im sorry Angad..i shouldnt have.....
A: no im sorry. i guess I scared you a little didnt I?
K: yea you did. you really did angad. please dont do this again.
Angad let go of her and then looked into her eyes. They had tears in them. He brought her closer to him and kissed her eyes and wiped the tears off. Kripa looked at him and smiled.
K: so what are you doing here?
A: when you said you wanted to talk to me..you sounded serious. so i thought I should come back and talk to you...so what is it?
K: oh..nothing just...i dont know angad.
A: what do you mean?
K: i thought about it a lot today...about US..about everything. I asked myself a question today but I didnt get the answer to it...so I was wondering if you did.
A: well...whats the question?
Kripa got up and stood by the window, trying really hard to not look into angad's eyes...or even at him.
A: kripa?
K: angad...everyone always told me that we would make a good couple or that...or that we were meant to be together forever....I always tried ignore them and...and I want to know what you think about this?
A: its about sahil isnt it?
K:(turned to look at him): what?
A: it sahil...right?
K: no i meant...yea its sahil
Kripa looked away. She was talking about them..Angad and Kripa. Not Sahil but angad had assumed something different. Angad moved to her and sat down by the window.
A: kripa...why are you asking me this all of a sudden?
K: what do you mean?
A: i mean...why do you want to know how i feel about sahil now? 4 months later?
K: aa...I wasnt...
A: ok if youre asking...I'll be honest. i think sahil is a really great guy
K: you do?
A: lemme finish what i was saying....he is a great guy. just not for you!
K: oh!
A: is that all you wanted to talk about?
K: no i was...i mean.....yea, thats all!
A: ok then. i guess my work is done. ill see you tomorrow at the cafe ok?
K(nodded her head): -----
A: good!
Angad got up and walked towards the door. Kripa looked out the window and at the moon. She was a little disappointed that for the first time, Angad hadnt known what she was trying to say. Suddenly she hears angad's voice.
A: hey kripa!
Kripa, a little surprised, looks at Angad in curiosity.
A: its better this way. i dont want to lose my best friend
Kripa looked at him and smiled. She knew what he meant. Angad had indeed known what she was talking about but pretended to misunderstand so that she would get a little annoyed. He loved seeing her annoyed. She looked so much prettier. He smiled back at her and left. Kripa watched him get into his car and drive off.
K(to herself): thanks angad...you really solved my dilemma. i love you!
