Hello Diary,
Oh Lord!! This is getting annoying! Why does Manorma Daadi have to nick ALL of my crayons? Lazyleaves was of the opinion that she's using them to paint her face but I came across an old family album under her bed and discovered the truth. All she does now is to go through old family photos and draw false mustache and beards on Dadi Ji's face! I've this feeling that she doesn't like her very much. Anyway, I sure hope Mama Ji appears on her birthday long enough to gift her some crayons. It'll make my life much easier.
Anyways, New Year's around the corner so some resolutions are in order.
Ashar's New Year Resolutions:
1. I will not make fun of Dad and his laptop. It was his first love and he can't depart with it.
2. I will be tolerant of Mum's pom pom clothes. I can't promise to extend the same tolerance to her song, 'Aj Mausam hai suhana' but I will try to do my best.
3. I will not let Mum and Dad have more Rabba Ve moments. Asmara and Anser are enough to drive me crazy.
4. I will try to patiently endure Anjali Bua's Pooja. She can't help it. Its her life (Not a very interesting life, I'd say)
5. I will not be mean to Payal Mausi when she cries. Her waterworks are damaged beyond repair.
6. I will not make fun of Akash Chacho and his dependance on my dad. Its not his fault that he has been born without a backbone but I will try my best to make sure that Anser develops one.
7. I won't call my Dad's Nani and Dadi nani-saurous and dadi-saurous respectively. I'm pretty sure they're way ancient than dinosaurs anyway.
8. I won't pull Laxmi's tail when no one's looking. She's an old citizen of RM and I should probably respect that.
9. I will tell the truth to Anser and Asmara that Nani didn't adopt Manorma Maami from a circus and her husband doesn't wander around the house in an invisibility cloak.
10. I will be a better brother to Anser and Asmara. I know its almost an impossibility since I'm already perfect as it is but still, I think I should add this to this list. I gives it a very formal touch.
11. I will not leave my Baby Ferrari out in the rain like dad does with his SUV.
12. I will win Sarah's heart!

Yayyy! Holi is coming up. Everyone's so excited. Preparations are full on. The Prakash clan are wandering about with huge platters heaped with all sorts of colours. I don't understand - Manorma Daadi is going to use all this on her face?! She'll end up looking like an actual clown. Resolution no. 9 will be hard to keep up if she continues on like this.
NK Chacho is also here to celebrate Holi with us and announced grandly that he'll be playing 'Doli' as well. Then as per routine, everyone laughed and mum corrected him. He gave his trademark sheepish grin while holding his pierced ear saying, 'wohi wohi! Same to same!' and next time, he took extra time thinking and came up with a new ritual named 'Goli'. My dad, 'Nannav his bhai' looked ready to pull his hair out.
Its another speciality of the Raizada Mansion that languages are massacred here on daily basis. Its so hard surviving in this house with Manorma Maami intent on ruining my English and NK Chacho hell bent on destroying my Hindi. And to tell you the truth, my Hindi is poor as it is, all thanks to dad.
NK Chacho is still single by the way. He still hasn't gotten married and is waiting for his right partner... I hope he finds his right partner soon who speaks wrong Hindi just like him so that they drive each other crazy for the rest of their lives!
My Dad's Dadi Ji has also decided that its high time that she graced us with her extremely annoying presence by coming out of her hibernation again at an Aashram and visiting madhouse RM. So now we have a larger variety of demented people here.
Personally I don't think she's been hibernating. I think she just got tired of being a traffic warden and decided to take a retirement and now she just applies the stop gesture at every person she comes across. You know what they say, Old habits die hard.
But to tell you the truth, I don't like her! And I don't think dad does either cos some of the times, the way he glares at her makes me think he's going to pack her off to a museum. She can stand next to the dinosaur and do the museum some good with her ancient presence.
The actual reason I don't like her is that she had the audacity to think my mum was a servant the first time she met her. She should thank her lucky stars I wasn't born then. Cos you see I'm not as soft and mellow as my dad. I would have given her a piece of my mind then and there. And if she thought my mum was a servant, then what did she think about poor OP? Hmm... Probably thought they were Laxmi's husband or something! That old bat!
