Character Sketch

Karan Khanna : A successful exporter and Khushis long lost brother, recently interested in Arnavs products.

Naina Khanna : Karans wife.

Part 5

Khushi glared at him...Naina was as shocked as Khushi...Arnav continued...The bride is same size as her...

The jeweler took them out and said...These will surely fit her...Let me check...The minute he reached for Khushi's hand, Arnav cut in...Give them to me...I will put them on her...He quickly took them from his hand and caught Khushi's right hand and easily put them on her's...

Naina was watching both of them...She was super excited...She came forward and said...OMG...they are so beautiful and look so lovely on Soni's hands...

Khushi on the other hand was fuming...She hated him for putting the bangles on her...What did he think of himself...He could do anything he wanted...Why was she angry?? She asked herself...Her heart was telling her something else...She was actually jealous...He was getting married...Again!!! He didnt care about her...Her thoughts were interrupted by Naina... Oh Soni...Lets buy for you also...

Khushi looked at the bangles...they were so beautiful...then she saw the hand that had put it on her's...And was still holding it...She pulled her hand back and slide them out of hers and handed it back to the jeweler. And said...I have too many...I dont need more...

Arnav was looking at her face for some sign...Any sign that would show him that she still cared for him...Will she ever forgive him, he thought...The jeweler looked at Arnav...He nodded and said..Pack it please...

Khushi moved little away from him... She had loved the feel of those bangles on her hands..She hadnt wanted to take them off... Very upset with herself, she started looking at other jewellery...

Arnav was looking at her...She was eyeing a beautiful long chain...It was made in such a way that it had hearts all over...attached, one after another...She saw it and moved away... Arnav asked the jeweler to show him that...He raised it up and right in front of him was a large mirror... All of their reflection could be seen in it...He smiled and raise it high...Khushi's face was turned towards him, but face down...He raised the chain, and angled it in such a way, it was as if he was trying it on Khushi...It looked beautiful...

Just then Khushi raised her head and Arnav gathered it in his hand and said...Ill buy them all...

After jewellery, they moved towards other shops...Khushi just want to be away from him, so she excused herself and went to the washroom... When she came out, Arnav was waiting for her... She looked at him and he said... Naina asked me to wait for you...

Khushi...It wasnt necessary...

Arnav...I think it is...If you and I are to work together...We should have at least be civil to each other...

Khushi...I knew it was a mistake to fall for my bother's challenge...

Arnav smiled, they were moving towards the lounge...So, that's why you accepted to work on this project...I never knew you were a good designer...

Khushi laughed...Well all you knew was to insult me and show me my place...Oh ya and you never trusted me...Never!

That really hurt him...But she wasnt lying...it was the truth...He had never given her the chance to show her true self to him...He had never stood by her...Never...He had never trusted her...Dammit...

Khushi continued...Im only doing this to show my brother that I can do something...You, or your family...OR my family, for that matter ... doesnt mean a thing to me any more...Understand Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada...

Khushi... Continue saying that and see how fast my bother gets me free of that name...Oh by the way...When are you divorcing me? You are getting married, so you need to be free of me first... We can do this quietly...No one needs to know anything...I will silently free you from this forced relationship...

Arnav was silent...He didnt say anything...They were nearing the others... They both heard Prem even before they saw him...Both ran the rest of the way...

Karan was pacifying him and Naina was trying to feed him...He was crying and spitting all his food out...Khushi came close and Naina said...You know how upset he gets, when he's hungry and when we are even a minute late...

Khushi smiled and took him in her arms and looked into his crying face and said...What happened my baby?

Prem stopped crying instantly and started baby talking...Making noises as if complaining to her...

Karan laughed and said...Look at him complain...I give up...You two take care of him...

Khushi sat beside Naina and settled Prem in her arms. Making him sit so Naina could feed him...

Arnav was silently watching them...He frowned...Something wasnt right here...But he couldnt figure out what...He went and sat beside Karan...

Prem was silent and enjoying the attention of two ladies...Naina was busy feeding him...Then she looked at Karan and said...How will it all work out? If Soni is to work for Arnav, she will have to move to Delhi?

There was s pin drop silence...Arnav said...Yes of course...She has to be in Delhi, in my office...That way I can be in constant touch with the project...

Hearing this Khushi opened her mouth to protest...But Naina beat her to it and said... No way...She's not moving to Delhi...How can she move there alone? Where will she live? Who will look after her there?

Arnav wanted to reply...But Naina continued...This is internet world...People do business from all over the world..She cant move to Delhi...Then she looked at Karan...She cant go...Karan...

Karan...Calm down Naina...Nothing has been finalized...First I wanted to make sure Soni was ready for it...Now she has agreed...We will see how it all works out...

Karan turned towards Arnav and said...Does she has to move to Delhi?

Naina...Why dont you move to Mumbai? It will be good for you...

Arnav laughed...My family is in Delhi...I...Then he went silent...He was again thinking only about himself and his family... He looked at Khushi...She was looking at him and the same thing reflected in her eyes...He always chose them...always...Right or wrong...Khushi had no chance when it came to them...

Before anyone could say anything...their flights were announced...Karan stood up and said...We discuss all this when we reach our respected homes...He shook Arnav's hand 's and started to pick their bags...

They all bid bye to one another and went on their way... Aranv looked at Khushi leave...How he wanted her to stop and look back at him...Just once...But she didnt...Why should she? Arnav sighed and said to himself...I will get you back...I promise...This song played in the background...

Khushi's heart sank as she walked towards the door leading towards their terminal...She wanted to turn desperately to look back...To see him again...Just for a second...But she didnt...There was nothing left for her...One year had passed...Only one year...She had hoped he would come looking for her...When she had seen him in the conference...She had thought he had finally found her...Had come looking for her...But she had been so wrong...He was engaged...To Layania...It was as if she had never existed in his life...The pain cutting her from inside...Hurting her so much...She closed her eyes... Something touched her face and made a noise...She opened her eyes and saw Prem.

He was in a sling, which Karan wore proudly...Arnav had also been amazed when he had seen Karan wear it and then sliding Prem in it... Karan had laughed and said...Duties of parents...And I love it...

They all were standing in line to board the plane...Khushi took the baby's hand in hers and kissed him and put her arm around her brothers and leaned on him...He looked at her and asked...Are you ok?

Khushi nodded and said...Just tired...

Karan...We will be home soon...

Khushi nodded...She was so tired...Wish she hadnt agreed to go on this trip...Wish she hadnt met him again...But she couldnt go back now...It all had happened...Opening her wounds once again...Were they ever healed...Will they ever heal...She sighed...She didnt want to think anymore...She just wished she reached home soon...
