Arnav ended the call and threw his cellphone on the desk.

Arnav: Sabki problem kya hai yaar? Di ko manata hoon ko nani naraz ho jati hain! Khushi toh pehle se hi naraz thi,ab toh woh baat bhi nahi kar rahi hai!Paayal kuch kehti nahi hai,but I'm sure,ab tak toh woh bhi mujhse naraz hogi.Jab bhi office me phone karta hoon,Akash mujhe waheen milta hai,Paayal ko toh time de hi nahi pata hoga woh..

A realization hits him and he calls Aman.

Arnav: Agar mamiji ne jo gifts mangvaye the woh nahi le gaya,toh woh bhi naraz ho jayengi!

Ya.. aman.. Maine jo gifts mangvaye the unka kya hua?... Agar aaj shaam tak woh mere desk par nahi mile toh you are fired!

He was about to throw the phone on the desk again,when he saw Anjali's name flash on the screen and a wave of relief hit him.

Arnav: Di!!

Anjali: Chhotey,kya hua?Aap theek toh hain?

Arnav: Di,main theek kaise ho sakta hoon? Ek toh kaam ka itna stress hai upar se nani aur Khushi ka drama! Why dont they understand,di? Main yahan party karne ya holiday manane nahi aaya hoon,kaam karne aaya hoon!I'm working really hard!

Anjali: Humein pata hai Chhotey...

Arnav: Toh please un dono ko samjhaiyye na di! Khushi toh aise react kar rahi jaise kal humari first aur last anniversary hai!
Anjali(shouts): Chhotey!

Arnav: Aur kya? Aap hi bataiyye di,itna upset hone jaisi koi baat hai kya? Why is she hyperventilating? AIse khana-peena chhodh degi toh yahan kya main chain se reh paunga,khana kha paunga? Aap use samjhati kyun nahi hain,di?

Anjali: Hum itne dino se koshish toh kar rahe hain,par kabhi-kabhi humein aapke liye dar lagta hai Chhotey.. Aur Khushiji ka gussa ek tarah se unki fiqar hai aapke liye.

Arnav(sighs): I know di. But I assure u, fiqar karne ki koi baat nahi hai. Maine koi galat decision nahi liya hai. Di aapko toh pata hai na,jab tak mujhe kisi deal me profit nahi nazar aata,main woh deal finalize nahi karta? Mujhe aur AR designs ko in sari deals se bahut fayda hoga aur international market me humari reputation aur achchi ho jayegi,tabhi maine yeh deals sign kiye hain. Varna Main kya paagal hoon jo Khushi ko,aap sab ko chhodkar pichchle almost ek mahine se yahan reh raha hoon?

Anjali: Tumhari baat sahi hai Chhotey par.. tum Khushiji ki or se baat ko dekhne ki koshish karo. Kal aap dono ki pehli saalgirah hai,zaahir si baat hai ki woh poora din tumhare saath guzarna chahengi. Aur ab jab unhe pata laga hai ki tum sham tak hi lautoge,toh maayoos toh hongi naa?

Arnav: Par di,ok I understand, pehli anniversary bahut special hoti hai, aur mujhe dukh bhi hai ki main poora din uske saath spend nahi kar paunga,but kya karu, yeh kaam bhi utna hi important hai. Agar maine aaj raat ka seminar attend nahi kiya toh AR designs k liye yeh theek nahi hoga. And once m home, main aapse promise karta hoon, main Khushi ko mana lunga aur aanewale kain saare din uske liye special banaunga. She's going to be far happier than what she was earlier!

Anjali smiles.

Arnav: Ek saal agar main anniversary par us k saath nahi reh paya toh kya hua? Kya usse Khushi k liye mera pyaar kam ho jata hai? Nope! Kya usse humare rishtey ki or meri dedication kam ho jati hai? Again,no! Farq kya padta hai? Ha,maybe itna hi farq padhta hai ki main agar Delhi me hota toh poora din uske saath rehta par ab main sirf raat ko uske paas rahunga. But once I'm there, I'll make up for all the time I havent been around di,I promise!
Anjali: Humein aapki baat pe poora bharosa hai,Chhotey,isiliye,sirf aapke liye,hum phir se Khushiji ko manane ki koshish karte hain. Hum yakeen k saath toh nahi keh sakte par shayad is baar hum aapse unki baat karvane me kamyaab ho jayenge..

Arnav: Di woh mujhse baat kare ya na kare,please dekhiye ki woh khana - peena ignore na kare. Main nahi chahta ki meri wajah se woh beemaar padh jaye.

Anjali: Theek hai Chhotey,hum wada nahi kar sakte,par koshish karenge.

There's a knock on the door of Arnav's cabin.

Arnav:Di,koi aaya hai,main aapse baad me baat karta hoon.

Anjali: Theek hai,apna khayal rakhiyega.

Shehnaz: Mr. Raizada?

Arnav: Ms. Shehnaz! Please come in!Have a seat.

Shehnaz: Thank u!

Arnav: What brings u here?

Shehnaz: I hope u r attending the seminar tonight..

Arnav:Yes,I am,but I wont be waiting for dinner.Actually I have a 7 AM flight to catch tomorrow and I dont want to be late tonight,so..

Shehnaz: Oh,thats okay,I understand. I hope we are meeting again next month?

Arnav:A.. sorry Ms. Shehnaz I dont think I'll be coming back next month.

Shehnaz(shocked): Really?I mean.. a.. why?

Arnav: There's a lot of work in Delhi office which needs my attention. Besides,in my absence my younger brother has been overburdened with work in Delhi. So I'm planning to send him and my sister-in-law for a vacation next month. So.. in his absence,I cant leave the headquarters.

Shehnaz: I can understand. But,what about ur wife? Mrs Raizada and urself also deserve a holiday!

Arnav: I know,infact I am planning to take her to Paris,but not right now,sometime later.Right now,I'm just looking forward to spending some quality time with her and my family at home.Ms Shehnaz, I'm really sorry for..

Shehnaz: No,thats okay!

Arnav: But if u need me before the release of our fashion magazine,u know,for the promotions, please let me know,I'll definitely take some out and be here.

Shehnaz:Sure. Ok,so I'll see u tonight!

Arnav:Ya,see you!

Arnav:Aman,yeh apne paas sambhal kar rakh lo,aur Delhi jaane k baad mujhe de dena.

Aman:Yes sir.Sir,aap kuch lenge,tea or coffee?

Arnav:Ok,get me some coffee.

His phone vibrates and even before looking at it,he knows who has called me.

Arnav:Ya di,tell me,main soch hi raha tha ki ab tak aapka phone aaya kaise nahi?

Anjali: Chhotey,tum airport pahuch gaye na? Flight time par hai naa?

Arnav:Ya di,main pahuch gaya. Everything's fine. Meri security checking bhi ho gayi,baggage bhi check karva liya,now I'm just waiting for the flight to take off! And ya,flight as per schedule hai,in fact kuch hi der me flight board karne wala hoon main,okay? So take it easy!

Anjali: Bhagwan ka shukar hai! Aapne kuch khaya? Ya subha-subha aise hi bhookhe pet airport aa gaye?

Arnav:Di,relax,maine breakfast kar liya hai!

Anjali: Theek hai,aap Delhi pahochte hi Akash ko phone kariyega.Ghar par sab aanewale hain isiliye hum me se koi toh aapko lene nahi aa payenge,par humne Mohanji se keh diya hai,woh 7 baje airport pahuch jayenge.

Arnav: Fine. Di,maine aapse kaha tha aaj koi party mat rakhiye, I'm damn tired! Ghar pe kaun aa raha hai?

Anjali:Koi nahi Chhotey,bas Gupta parivaar aa raha hai,aur kisiko nahi bulaya humne. Areh! Baaton-baaton me hum toh aapko wish karna hi bhool gaye! Happy Anniversary Chhotey! Devi Maiyya aapki aur Khushiji ki jodi sada banaye rakhe!

Arnav (smiles): Thanks a lot di! Wish karne k liye bhi aur kal aapne Khushi se meri baat karvayi usk liye bhi!

Anjali: U r welcome!
Arnav: Achcha di,ab main rakhta hoon,raat ko milte hain,ok? Bye.

Anjali: Khushiji! Chhotey se baat hui?

Khushi: Nahi di,hum phone laga rahe hain lekin band aa raha hai. Amanji ka phone bhi band hi aa raha hai.

Anjali: Unhone aapse kya kaha tha,kab tak aayenge woh?

Khushi: Di,unhone toh 8 baje tak kaha tha. Par aap chinta mat kariye,shayad flight late hogi.

Anjali: Nahi,flight samay pe hai,Chhotey ne khud subha humse kaha tha. Aap ek baar phir try kariye unka phone! Paayalji,zara please Akash ko bula kar laiyye,ab toh humein ghabrahat ho rahi hai. Ek toh Mohanji ka phone bhi nahi lag raha..

Khushi tries to call Arnav but again his phone is switched off.

She holds her mangalsutra as tears well up in her eyes.

Khushi (thinks): Kahan hain aap Arnavji?

Anjali: Kya hua Khushiji?

Khushi looks at Anjali and shakes her head.

Anjali: Hey Bhagwan! Hamare Chhotey kahan honge?A... Khushiji,kal jab humne aapko phone diya tha,tab aapki unse kya baat hui thi?

Khushi recalls their chat and a tear rolls down her cheek.

Heck,she's not even talking to me now!Paayal doesnt say anything but I'm sure by now even she must be angry!Whenever I call Delhi office,Akash is always there,he must not be able to devote any time to Paayal..

Arnav: If I dont get the gifts that mamiji wants,even she'll get angry!

Arnav: Di,how in the world can I be alright? I'm already stressed because of work pressure and now nani and Khushi are upping my stress levels with their drama! Why dont they understand,di? I'm not here to party or to holiday,I'm here to work! And I'm working really hard!

Anjali: I know that Chhotey...

Arnav: Then please explain this stuff to them,di! Khushi is reacting as if its our first and last anniversary tomorrow!
Anjali(shouts): Chhotey!

Arnav: What else? U tell me di,what is so upsetting about all this? Why is she hyperventilating? If she stops eating and all,will I b able to work here in peace or even eat at ease? Di,y dont u try,may be u will be able to knock some sense into her?

Anjali: I am trying since the last so many days,but sometimes even I get worried for u Chhotey.. And Khushiji's anger is in a way her concern for u!

Arnav(sighs): I know di. But I assure u, there's nothing to worry. I havent taken any wrong decisions! Di u know me, I dont finalize a deal until and unless I see some profit in it. I and AR designs will hugely benefit from these deals and our position will improve in the international market,hence I've signed up for these deals. Else,do u think I'm mad that I'm staying without Khushi,and without u all over here since the last almost one month? Anjali: U r right Chhotey but.. y dont u try to look at things from Khushiji's perspective? Tomorrows' ur first wedding anniversary,so isnt it obvious that she would like to spend the entire day with u?And now when she got to know that she'll only be able to meet u in the evening,she's bound to be disappointed,isnt it?

Arnav: But di,ok I understand, first anniversary is really special , and I feel really bad that I wont b able to spend the day with her, but what do I do? This work is really important right now! If I dont attend the seminar tonight,it wont be good for AR designs. And once m home,I promise , I will coax Khushi and make the coming days really,really special for her! She's going to be far happier than what she was earlier!

Arnav: so what if I am unable to spend one anniversary with her? Does that decrease the love I have for her? Nope! Does that decrease my dedication towards our marriage,our relationship? Again,no! What difference does it make? Ya,maybe the only difference woulod be that had I been in Delhi,I wouldve spent the entire day with her whereas now I'll only get to spend the night with her. But once I'm there, I'll make up for all the time I havent been around di,I promise!
Anjali: I trust u completely,Chhotey,hence,only for ur sake,I'll again try to convince Khushiji.I cant say anything for sure,but just maybe this time I will succeed in convincing her to talk to u..

Arnav: Di whether she talks to me or not,please see to it that she doesnt ignore her meals. I dont want her to fall sick coz of me.

Anjali: Ok Chhotey,I cant promise anything,but I'll try for sure!

Arnav:Di,relax,I've had my breakfast!

Anjali: Ok,as soon as u reach Delhi,call Akash. Since everyone will be coming,I wont be able to come to the airport to fetch u. But i've asked Mohanji to reach the airport at 7.
