Part 6
"Sir, these are the pictures." Akash said while handing Jack an envelope.
"Good." Jack smirked looking at the pictures.
"I knew he would follow her. Now, I have complete proof." Jack told himself while glancing over those pictures and he could very well recognise that the man next to her was the one who had followed her to the villa.
"What is his name? Any clue?" Jack questioned.
"His friends were calling him 'Rey'." Akash replied.
"Rey?" Jack gasped in utter shock.
"Is there something wrong sir?"
"No. Get me all the information about this man." Jack responded seriously. He just couldn't let his frustration out on his juniors. He decided to handle this matter his own way.
"Yes, sir." Akash replied and moved out of the cabin.
"Rey" Jack repeated his name in utter incomprehension.
………….
Kriya couldn't stop thinking about all the events that happened in the evening. She recollected how she had hurt that man and then Rey approached her and how he was worried about her.
She always knew that Rey felt something about her. He had even confessed his feelings in their first meeting. However, she had failed to realize how strongly he felt for her. It was no infatuation. No sudden attraction but something more.
Love
She smiled as the word made her feel complete. It was unbelievable that she had fallen for Rey. Not that he wasn't good looking or well-mannered but she wasn't good enough for him. Yes, she did kiss him and he kissed her back. But, that was just in the moment. She couldn't be practical about having any future with him.
She decided not to feel weak by these thoughts. She was on a mission and her life is completely different from Rey; a common man.
How can she fall for him when she clearly knew that no matter what they feel for each other, they can never be together?
For just a moment, she wanted to get purged of all the responsibilities which came up with being a secret agent; always alert and working. She can't have a personal life and of course not with a common man. She couldn't let her secrets out and risk her identity.
But, now it was even more difficult than she had imagined. She had gone too far. She was in love with him. But, she would never let him know about her feelings. That was the right thing to do.
But, what if he already knows how she felt? What if she just loses control when he is around?
No. She had to be strong. She can't let him make her weak. She can't let him cross all those barriers that she built around her for the sake of her new life in FBI.
Yes, she loved him but not more than her passion for working for FBI. And, she wouldn't let her feelings create any obstructions to her demanding job.
With this thought in mind, she closed her eyes gently trying her best to put all the thoughts of Rey aside. However, she ended up thinking about that passionate kiss, her first kiss.
How would it feel to kiss him again?
"Stop it! Focus!" she told herself.
Just a kiss. One more kiss won't cause any harm. And then just another kiss, a couple of kisses, to be precise.
She laughed at her trail of thoughts and where they were heading to. She hadn't ever felt like that for anyone.
"Stop acting so desperate!" she cursed herself under the breath.
Will he be thinking about me the same way?
"No!" she tried to settle her thoughts.
Should I call him?
"No!" her more responsible inner voice protested.
I think I should.
"No! It's too late." she tried to reason out with herself.
I'll just say thanks. I didn't say that in the evening; that was rude.
"When did you actually start caring about how rude you are at times?"
Just now. I am calling him and that's final.
"Argh!" she groaned as her inner desperate voice attempted to win.
She quickly dialled his number and put her one finger near the reject button still unsure if she should call him.
"Hi Kriya." he answered at the first ring.
"Umm….Hi." she replied feeling uneasy.
"Why are you still up? Take rest."
"Yeah, you too." she responded and was about to put the phone down when he interrupted.
"Don't hang up." he pleaded.
"Why?" she asked innocently.
"Don't you want to talk to me?" he teased.
"I do." she answered without thinking and regretted the very next moment for sounding so anxious.
"Do you want me to drop in your house through the window the way you did last night?"
"Huh?"
Before she could understand where all this was leading, he appeared right in front of her in her room.
Rey shot his crooked smile and his smile grew wider when she was lost in him. She still had her cell phone placed near her ear.
"You can put the phone down. I am right here!" he chuckled.
…………..
"Sir, I am sorry, we couldn't get any information about this man." Akash announced to a stunned Jack.
"No information? How is that possible?"
"It's as if his identity is kept secret. We couldn't trace anything."
"How can the FBI not be able to trace out?" Jack questioned disbelievingly.
"We have no idea."
"Listen, get me information about Rey who is Kriya's neighbour." Jack replied after brief moments of silence.
"Kriya's neighbour?"
"No questions Akash! Do as I ask you to."
"Okay, sir."
…………..
Kriya hesitantly put the phone down and looked at Rey approaching her.
"So, how is your ankle?"
"Yeah, it's fine." she answered and tried to get up from the bed but Rey stopped her.
"Take rest." he instructed.
"Rey, thanks." Kriya smiled genuinely.
"You are always welcome!" he replied playfully.
"Umm..so..you should go now." she said tentatively.
"Do you want me to go?"
She didn't know how to reply to this. True, she didn't want him to leave but her rational side protested asking her to maintain distance from him.
"Why did you call me Kriya?" Rey questioned not waiting for her response for the previous one.
"I wanted to talk to you about whatever happened in the evening."
"Go ahead."
"I mean the last bit." she said hesitantly and couldn't help herself think about the kiss for the umpteenth time.
"You mean, the kiss?" he grinned while she looked away.
"I don't want you to feel that there is a possibility that we can be something more than friends."
"Kriya, you love me and it's high time you realize that!"
"I don't!" she responded instantly.
He smiled and gave her a peck on her forehead.
"Good Night." he responded and was about to move out of the window when Kriya stopped him.
"Rey, we can never be more than friends!" she repeated trying to reassure her.
"It's time you understand what you feel about Me." he replied and before she could say anything he moved out through her window.
"I love you Rey but we don't have any future together!" she told herself and retired to bed.
…………
Rey was back in his room. He pulled out his cell phone and made a call.
"Akash, get me a copy of all the pictures you took of Kriya." Rey said.
"But sir, how did you…" he tried to question but Rey interrupted him.
"Do as I say and don't let Jack know anything about this. Am I clear?" Rey announced with an authority.
"Yes, sir." Akash replied and put the phone down.
………
"Sir, we couldn't get any information about Rey, Kriya's neighbour." Akash told Jack who was fuming with anger.
"You are good for nothing!" Jack answered and hit the table with his fist.
"Sir, I…" Akash tried to say something but Jack interrupted him.
"Get lost!" Jack smouldered.
Akash moved out the cabin immediately.
"Rey, I'll handle you tomorrow." Jack told himself.
………
Next Morning
Kriya got up from the bed and was still thinking about Rey when her doorbell rang.
She opened the door and was shocked to see the one person she had never expected.
"Jack! What the hell are you doing here?"
