Hello all you beautiful people!!😃 I'm super duper late with an update. I've explained why in some previous post. That is if you'll are even interested. 😉
I don't know how I feel about this one.😕
Part 3
Shakti glanced over at where Amar was standing with his team. The girls blushed and giggled at something he said. From the looks of it, it felt like he was flirting with them. Shakti wanted to go and whack him on his head. Hard! They were just kids for Christ's sake!
She tried to ignore the frustration. She turned back to her team, promising herself not to look over at him again.
****
"Ok girls, I know you'll don't know much about cricket" said Amar, "and I don't even expect you'll to learn it now at such a short notice. So I'll just give you all a simple tip."
"And what is that?" one of the girls asked.
"Distract them. Those stupid boys. Just distract them. 'Smile' A lot! ... 'Blush'…. Play with your hair.… Pretend you'll need their help…. Praise them, on just about any damn thing. Basically, I want you'll to flirt. Can you'll manage that?"
The girls giggled and nodded their heads in agreement.
"Good Girls!" Amar grinned at them as if he'd already won the match. He looked over at his opponents. No sorry, he had eyes only for one of them. Gosh!! She was stunning, even in a pair of simple blue jeans hugging her long legs and a tunic shirt. It was still hard for him to believe that she was here. He desperately wanted to get done with this match so he could get all his answers. But first he had to win. That would be a piece of cake. If he was going to be sidetracked by that good-looking specie from the other team, he had ten here in his team to get to those foolish lads.
He slowly walked up to her, his eyes never leaving her form.
"Shaks?"
She looked over her shoulder without even bothering to acknowledge him. "What is it?"
She sounded irate again. He wondered what had he done now? "When do you want to begin?"
"We're ready. And if you're done chatting with your girls, we should start."
Amar wanted to laugh. He really liked when she was annoyed. No, he was not a sadist. She just turned into a sexy tigress, which was very appealing.
"Fine. So let's decide on the bet now." he said.
"Bet??" she asked with her brows furrowed.
"What would I get if I win?"
She rolled her eyes, "Firstly Mr. Kunwar, you aren't winning! And if by any chance you do, you can ask for whatever you want. I don't even care. Because I know you wont."
Great, she was giving him a free pass to whatever he wanted. His eyes roamed over her face and finally landed on her lips. He gulped down a sharp breath. He had to win this damn game.
****
Shakti repented as soon as she uttered those words. Whatever he wanted? What the hell was she thinking? And to make it worse, his eyes fell on her lips. Damn! She had to win this game.
If he asked for what she thought he wanted, it would mess everything up. Their friendship, their special bond. Everything! She had avoided this for 3 whole years!
She was not a naive. She knew when a guy was interested. And Amar had given pretty obvious hits in all these years. Even though he had never put his feeling in so many words, she wasn't blind. But 'boyfriends' were not her material. It never worked with them. At least not more than a year or two. Her career always came first. And most importantly, they were co- workers. She couldn't jeopardize their work relations. It would get awkward if they dint last. She was always the practical one.
Although she kept denying her feelings for him all this while. Saying it was just one sided and she never felt the same about him, but deep down she knew that she was one big fat liar!! Why the hell would she be here otherwise? And last year when he was dating someone?... No, she didn't even want to think about how cranky she had got.
He stepped up closer. A little bit too close. She could inhale his musky cologne. She had missed it. Crap! She was losing already.
"Are you sure?" he asked huskily. His eyes never leaving her mouth.
"ermm….. ye…. yeah"
He smiled. Oh god, not that super cute smile, she groaned.
"I'm going to win Shaks. I promise."
She suddenly felt like calling this stupid match off. She would have even said it, when a girl, one of Amar's teammate pulled him aside asking him to show her how to hold a cricket bat. Ha! The nerve of the guy to challenge her when his team was full of neophytes. Now this should be fun!
She went to her team to rouse their spirits. Atleast she didn't have to teach her team anything. She almost felt sorry for Amar. So she decided to give him more time to prepare. Finally after he had showed his team about the basics of the game, she went up to him with a coin in her hand. "Heads or tails?"
"Heads."
She flipped the coin and it landed near Amar's feet. He bent to have a look and straightened up with a big smirk on his pretty face. "Heads it is! We'll bat first."
"You can stop grinning Kunwar. It was just a toss"
"Sometimes the toss says it all."
"We'll see." She turned to her boys. "Ok guys, we have to bowl first. Are we good with that?"
They all screamed a yes in unison.
****
Shakti's team had already taken their place on the field. Amar quickly decided on two girls who had some fair idea about the game, to open the match. He would go in third.
The first over was a maiden one. Shakti had sent in her best bowler and the girls although held their wickets but couldn't score any runs. He glanced at Shakti who was clapping and encouraging her boys. She must have sensed him watching her, because she turned to look at him. She smiled and showed him a thumbs down. She was adorable. To hell with the match. He would make sure he get what he wanted anyway.
By the third ball of the next over, his team lost a wicket without any runs being scored. Now it was all up to him. He had to make a decent score to fight back. He walked past her and whispered close to her ears, "Hope you're not regretting the bet?" She stiffened at his proximity. But before she could give him a piece of her mind, which he was sure he would have got, he went and stood at the crease.
He consciously ordered his eyes and brain to focus on the bowler and not her. It was hard. But he managed. His first ball went for a four! His team hooted out loud. He shot Shakti a look. She looked surprised as well as a little anxious. However she kept cheering for her boys.
By the next 4 overs, Amar's team was 46 for 5. Luckily he was still playing. His team was doing well with the flirting. He had caught his girls making eye contacts with the boys. They blushed, smiled, everything that they had planned on doing. Shakti was starting to lose her cool with her team. She even yelled at a boy who missed a catch because his attention was diverted to a young girl who had offered him some water.
****
Shakti watched her team getting distracted. Damn Amar had played his cards well. She saw what the girls were trying to do here. They would come over with bottles of water or with a bunch of mushy words as compliments. Some would even come up with doubts about the game, which the boys were happy to solve. She noticed how the young ladies purposely pouted their lips, played with their hair or swayed their hips a little exaggeratedly. And she had to agree, they were good at what they were doing. She wondered if Amar had rubbed off his skills on them. She rolled her eyes. Just then it struck her!
She looked at Amar. He was intentionally avoiding to look at her.
Ahh!! She knew what she had to do now!

Ps- Spare me some time and let me know how it was.😊
I know I've lost my touch.😔 Have written something after so long. Sorry if you'll are not happy with it. I'll try bettering it in the coming updates.😳
And I know I promised a longer update last time. But considering how I felt writing this, I think I would need more time to come up with long updates.
Thank you for being so patient. And I won't be surprised if some of you'll aren't interested in this anymore. Never the less, those who like it, please share your views.
Lots of love.😊
