thank you all for liking and commenting. The first chapter to Abandoning Eyes.
CHAPTER ONE:
"Hold no meaning"
She lay on his bed, dressed in a beautiful green, a stark contrast to her porcelain pale white skin, the pink bed sheets folded to her waist. She lay there taking no notice of his entry into the room, her eyes staring into nothing.
She could not be his Khushi, no she could be the person the world knew as Kushi Kumari Gupta... Singh Raizada, no, she could not be her.
He was still at the door, staring at the apparition in white when Anjali found him five minutes later, the door knob hanging by from the frame, still clutched in his hand.
"Di, Khushi... What?" coherency had been his power, but words failed him today.
"Chote, we didn't know what to tell you. We don't know what has happened to her." she led him into the room and sat him on the bed.
Instinctively, he took Khushi's hand, it was warm.
"We found her like this five days ago. Payal came to check in on her as she had missed breakfast. We called the doctor, he says she has gone into shock. Some people break into hysterics and she has decided this." tears forming in her eyes. She missed her smile.
"But Di, me? Why didn't you tell me?"
"We didn't know how to tell you or what. The reason I asked you to just hurry back home. Chote, she will come around, she just requires a little bit of love. Did you fight with her Chote?"
He remembered their conversations after her suicide attempt, but she had been fine when he had left.
He just nodded in reply.
"Freshen up. I will send you food here."
She slept oblivious to the world. Oblivion is what she had wanted now. There were no fairy tales after all, atleast for orphans.
That day she had wished, wished for her Babuji, Amma, him but none had come. Her dreams had been crushed a long time back, but that day her sanity had been stripped, mutilated beyond repair. The day she had passed away.
Khushi was a fighter, she did not surrender, fought her battles head on but then fighters did perish. So had she before the battle was won. Maybe like love and respect, justice was not for orphans as well.
Today, when he had returned home to his wife, she was long gone. Moved away to a place where there was nothing. Nothing, is what she had wished for, not black not white.
Black she was scared off still and the pristine flawless white she no longer deserved.
Colors, she had loved them, but love had been her downfall, love the reason she had lost all.
