She cut him in midsentence.." arnav ji .. U have to listen to me' "

" tell me.."He wanted her answers.

" arnavji..its not what u think.."

"then, what is it khushi?

"Arnavji.. I wanted to tell u the whole thing.. But u .." she searched for words.

"I am listening.."

Khushi didn't know where to start and what to say. She wanted to tell the whole thing to him. .she looked at him.

He was closely studying her..his furious eyes sighted her fidgeting hands.

"i don't have the whole day ..Damn it..Just say it." Khushi was confused.. he sighed.." k.. Tell me.. Whats ur relation with jeejaji?"

"ji? .."

"khushi don't try my patience..just answer me..who is he to you? " he was boiling.

Khushi..u hav took so much humiliation by now..no more..don't care about his feelings..just tell him..u hav to clear the misunderstanding..he thinks that.. Khushi couldn't even imagine how his mind worked. She cleared her throat..

"khushi..am asking u,.,.who is he to you? "

" NO ONE' he is nothing to me..sirf Di ka pati..aur kuch nahi.. Arnavji,..u have misunderstood me..he is invalid to me.. ."

"oh..really? Invalid? Then u didn't know him b4 our marriage?"

"I knew him.." she paused'"in fact ..for a long time..."

"since the time when he was ur PG..ryt?" He was being the judge..

"no.. Even B4 that'" Arnav's eyes widened..he was ready 4 d next question .." why r u questioning me as if I am some kind of a criminal..i am desperate enough..u don't try to be Mr. perfect ,Arnavji.. It was only because of you I met the damn man.. You are responsible for all these..if it wasn't for you I would have never met him."

"ME?" He was shocked to hear something like that,'"but how?"

"yes..you..only you.." her eyes brimmed.. " if you haven't gave that tape to the media..i would have nev.."

"which ? The fashion show? '" ohh'Noo..it was the first blow on Arnav .

" because of that tape I was humiliated.. Some goons harassed me in public.. They were insulting me before my family..they attacked even my babuji who tried to protest.." she sobbed remembering the hardships her family gone through..because of her.

Arnav took a step to her and stopped himself, "and?"

"then Shyaam came to rescue me.. He was being very nice to me and my family. .Because of ur cursed tape, it became impossible for me and jiji to live peacefully in Lucknow. So amma sent us to Delhi to live with Buaji..here we met him again. He was trying to find a place to stay .. Buaji found him very nice that she let him to stay with us.. He seemed to be very good and hardworking. Buaji liked him and considered him as a family member.. When i found it hard to find a job here, he helped me to get into AR companies."

Arnav heard every single word without interrupting her.. He had started to tie the loosen ends.. But the fact that it was his fault that caused this all , was a blow for him..

"he knew that I was working for you. He helped me those days..he was creating the good image around him..but when he came to know that I worked in Shantivan, he opposed and tried to stop me coming there..i found it strange.. But he always came up with the most convincing reasons .. it was impossible for me to let that job go. He was so annoyed of it then.."

Ya..he was afraid that you would find out the truth.. JEEJAJI!!!! Arnav made mental notes.

" he was a real crook.. On several occasions Di tried to introduce him to us, but he easily scooted each and every time."

"ya..he surely is.." Arnav murmured' That's something he know best by now.. "then'?" he was starting to believe her..

"on that..on that.." she stammered..".. Diwali night, he played a foul game and'" she gasped.." by that time he had convinced Buaji that he is the perfect 'match.. for..me.. Bavuji was ill by then and he got the full credits of poor Buaji..Amma and Jiji tried to call it off ,as they found me unhappy., but Buaji was blind by the goodness of him..Even U got engaged that day...i wasn't ready to marry him till that day.."

So she wasn't attracted to him! And..and..she said only because I was engaged? That was news for him..

"..But that day She said that I am selfish and don't have any concern for the family..i wasn't selfish.." a tear found its way to her jaw.

" no.. U r not khushi.." his voice was softened..

"for the happiness of my family I agreed to marry him'I didn't know why ,but all I did those days was fancying you..." she stopped suddenly." I wanted to tell u that I am engaged,.. But couldn't.."

Arnav took another step to her. He wanted to comfort her.. But hearing the whole story is important too. " so? "

"we wer engaged after some days..in our home..He wanted me to stop coming to Shantivan..He was being furious over it..he gave so many reasons ,at last I raised my voice and told him I 'll go till marriage..Then, On that day, I found him on your terrace..he tried some more lies. but I broke the engagement there itself..i was coming to tell you..but you wer .."

Arnav remembered the day.khushi was crying on his shoulder.. Did ur mangethar say something to u??did he hurt you? He remembered the scene clearly..She wanted to tell something that day..but suddenly stopped and went away.. " but u didn't tell me.. Y u kept it secret?"

" I tried.. I wanted 2 tell everyone that day itself.. Amma tried to stop me worrying about jiji's marriage..But I was determined and I came there to tell you all.. But seeing Di, I was confused.. Seeing how much she loved him , I tried not to ruin her life.." she glared at him..there was a lost look in his eyes.. He was getting it all cleared.." I decided not to tell anyone. But he wasn't ready to back off. He tried more filthy ways and each time he was irking me.. I tried hard not to tell Di."

He wasn't furious anymore.. He wanted to believe her' As each knot was untangling he took a step towards her unconsciously..but something in him remained unconvinced..

" During jiji's marriage ceremonies he had tried all odds. It wasn't something I could manage.. U believe it or not I don't care anymore.. I never loved him.thats the fact.. If that's what u wanted to know.. I didn't have any feelings for him..Ever..it was you all the time!!! NOT HIM.." she was yelling @ him.

The words that He wished to hear for so long..

"then what was.. That?" he wanted to know it since that day. The only thing that stopped him every time, that made him ruthless and inhuman, that ..made him miserable.

"What?" she felt her head spinning.

"on the ..terrace.." he hesitantly said.

" on the mirror there was a note to go to the terrace, I thought it was from.. you.. So I ..went there.. But it was him.. He never made any sense.. I didn't want 2 hear any of his blabbering.." she remembered the evening..

"but I saw u hugging him.." he spilled out.

She looked @ him , not sure what was he thinking.. He saw that..

"u saw that?? Then y didn't u respond then? Y didn't u came out and reasoned him then? Kabse saying , i saw it.. I saw it..what did u c? nothing.. U saw nothing.. "

" Khushi don't try to fool me..i sa'" his could no longer hide his pain.

"Goddamn it...he was forcibly hugging me!! " she shouted.. "When he said he loves me, only me and all those shit .. I walked away.. Then he.." She gasped.. Now the roles were getting changed.. Arnav stood in the witness box and she started to question him.." I tried hard to instill some sense into him just b4 that..u didn't hear?"

"Nooo.."

" I was trying to get out of his grip.. U didn't notice?"

"Noo.."

"I pulled him away and was yelling @ him.. I bet, u wouldn't have noticed that as well.."

"No.."

"So the only thing that got into your stupid sack of brain was.."

"No. I heard u saying about Di.."

" Oh..that! I said him to leave Anjali Di alone,if he doesn't value this relationship.."

"Yes..u did"

"Yes.. I did because I knew how much it means to Di. And I don't want her to be a fool blinded by her love for someone who does not deserve a bit of it. I threatened him and warned him. And I decided to tell all this to YOU. U didn't heard?.."

"No??"

"Then what did u know Mr. All-knowing Raizada?"

" I ..i didn't know it Khu.." his voice was breaking..he hadnt heard any of it." I couldn't stand there any longer.So I walked off.".. His eyes were moist.. He felt as if the whole universe was against him..he chortled.." I knew nothing.. I thought u were cheating on ..Di."

"ya.. U thought.. Did u think of any1 else Mr..Arn."

"Don't say that Khushi.. I was so..i was being a fool.. But y didn't you tell me?"

" How could i? I searched the whole house for you.. I asked everyone..but u weren't there..i wanted to tell you the whole thing.. The one person I wanted to c more than anything was YOU..but u werent there.."

" I was.." he remembered what he did..

" I don't want to know.. As if it matters now.." she wiped her face. " u werent ready to talk to me when I came to you..Atlast when I found the courage and you.. The happy news of Di's pregnancy was out..Even he seemed to be happy. So I thought it would be better not to tell anything'" she finished the retelling of the worst day of her life.. She was tired and week. She leaned to the wall for support and her eyes flooded..

He found it hard to breath..he hated himself for what he had done.. He could no more ignore the voice of his conscious..he walked to her , touched her shoulder "Khushi'" he raised her chin to him " Khushi.. I didn't know.." Her heart beat fast..She rested her head on his heart and cried.. His heart melted.. He understood the seriousness of his deadly deed' He wanted to beg her forgiveness.. How could he doubt her? He mourned for her and cursed himself for being such a fool.. He took her in his arms. He caressed her .. He was remorseful. He kissed her hair " I have been so wrong khushi'" A tear fell upon Khushi's forehead..

" But.. Still.. I havent got the answer.. Y did u married me? What it has to do with the marriage? And y did you married me for 6 months?"

" khu..i.." he didn't want to tell her the reason.. " i.."

" tell me.. I want an answer. I have been asking this for so long.." Her tears wet his shirt.. She could hear his heart beating hard against her ears..

" Khushi .. I .. " he paused.

" He wouldn't have dared to disturb me if he knew.. He doesn't know that u are aware of it.." Khushi wondered to herself..

" He does.." Arnav replied in a meek voice..

"Kya??" Khushi raised her head to look at him.
