How could he have been so insensitive,thought Shakti. She had asked him for advice on what to do on her career front and he had dared to comment on her marital status? Non-marital status,rather,she thought just as gloomily.

W*F was happening?SHE, Shakti Mohan, was depressed that she was unmarried?? She hadn't even had a relationship so far. And what was her age? TWENTY-SEVEN, well almost? Was this an age to marry? Um...well almost?

Shakti's phone rang. MOM!!!

'Hi mom. Long time.'

'Hello Shakti beta. How is New York? What all did you see? Beta khaa toh rahi ho naa acche se. Pata nahi kyaa dete honge. Accha ,missing us? Aur...voh tu Mausi se baat kar rahi thi naa? And yeah, Mukti's asking kyaa kyaa shopping ki? P.G. comfortable hain naa?? Yaa fir koi aur accomodation chahiye?Aur...'

'Mummy,mummy!! Main apna khayaal rakh sakti hu! I'm 27 - your BIG GIRL!'

'Kyaa karu beta,maa ka dil hain na...chup hi nahi hota. Bohot badi ho gayi hain meri baby.'

Shakti thought,' Indian mothers think of only two things. Food and...marraige.'
