Sorry for the late update. Plz forgive me. And I promis I will try to get a longer update.
Khushi finally arrived home and met with Nani, Akash, NK and Mami. They had agreed on the food, the theme, the guests and everything within the couple hours Khushi was home. Payal and Nani helped Khushi with the Desi part while Akash and Mami helped her with setting up the western. NK helped with both parts. She had called the catering company and the decorators. Akash had called the card company and had fixed the invitation designs and what it would say. The planning was all done, now the real work would begin. The easy part was over, the hard work started tomorrow.
Khushi was sitting in the living room with Nani, and Mami waiting for Di to come home when Payal came in with a glass of milk with saffron for Khushi.
"Khushi, drink this. You need to drink and eat a lot if nutrient things." Payal said with a teasing smile. Khushi took the glass and took a sip, then set it on the table.
Nani smiled, but quickly it turned into a frown. "Khushi betiya. You are expecting. You shouldn't be working so much. And these are your early months too. No, I don't want you doing any more work anymore, Khushi. You will sit with Chote while we do all the work." she said.
"But Nani. I can't stay out of the planning. And if I'm sitting with Arnav, what about Di? She is even further along than me. She should be the one sitting with him." Khushi said, not liking the idea of sitting out of planning a party for her husband.
This time Payal spoke up. "Khushi, Nani is right. You shouldn't be working. And Di won't either. You will both stay with Arnavji until all the preparations are ready." she replied, acting like the big sister she was.
"But Jiji, that's two less people working. You will never be able to finish in time. I promise I won't work too much and I will eat on time and a lot. And I promise that I will drink water, juice and milk and everything else you want me to. But I have to work on the party." Khushi said defiantly.
"Sasuma, phatti sari is rightwa. We need her to helpwa with the decorationwa" Mami stepped in, taking Khushi's side. But with one look from her Sasuma, Manorama stopped talking.
"Theek hai Khushi betiya. But I will personally make sure you are eating. If you don't, I will tell Chote." Nani smiled. At that moment, Akash and NK came down the stairs.
"What will you tell Nannav?" NK asked in his Australian accent. He sat down next to Nani an opened the bag of chips he had in his hand.
"If Khushi betiya doesn't take care of herself, I'm going to tell Chote." she replied.
"Oh that. Pareshawn nahi tha. Main hoon na, Naniji." he replied proudly, causing everyone to laugh at his antics.
Akash turned off his phone and looked at Khushi. "Khushiji, Di and Mohan will be home in a bit. Are you sure you wanna go back to the hospital? I can go if you want." he asked, genuine concern lacing his voice.
"Yes Jijaji. I'll be fine at the hospital. Besides, Arnav can't intimidate me the same way." she said with a smirk. The whole family burst into giggles. Along with Akash.
"Ok Khushiji. You win." he replied just as Anjali walked in with Mohan holding her arm.
"Tanivar, Mohanji. I'm ok now." she then turned to Khushi and Akash as she sat down. "What did she win?" she asked as Khushi got up and sat next to her.
"Oh, nothing Di. I was just teasing Jijaji about Arnav being able to scare him." she said with a giggle.
"Oh that, hehe. Chote is able to scare anyone and everyone." she replied. Everyone laughed at that.
Khushi looked at the time and saw it was getting late. "Di, Nani, I should be going. It is getting late and Arnav will worry." she said as she got up.
"Yes, Khushiji. He will. You should go before it gets too late." Anjali replied.
"Yes Khushi betiya. Have a good night." Nani said as Khushi left.
Khushi got in the car and left for the hospital. While in the car, she got a call from Arnav asking where she was. She replied she would be there in 10 minutes. She hung up and sat back, looking out the window and thinking. Thinking of everything that had happened. How they had gotten married, Arnav finding out the truth, her being kidnapped, finding out she was pregnant, Arnav and Shyam in the fight, thinking she lost him forever and killing Shyam. All the scenes played in her head over and over until she couldn't take it anymore. She closed her eyes and put her hand on her invisible baby bump. She could feel the life growing inside of her. She felt a smile grow on her face as she thought of her baby. Her and Arnav's baby.
Finally she arrive at the hospital. She sent Mohan back home and went up inside the stairs. The receptionist let her through, knowing who she was and Khushi went up the elevators to the 3rd floor. When she arrived at his door, she hesitated a bit, not knowing if she could keep the excitement down about the party.
"Come in." she heard a voice call from inside. How did he know she was outside. Probably the same way she knew he was inside. She opened the door and walked in to see him sitting up in bed, watching her. The second he laid his eyes on her, he instantly smiled, happy, relieved that she came.
"Hi Jaan." he said as he held out his hand to her.
Khushi slowly walked until she reached his bedside. She put her hand in his, and sat down next to him. "Hi. How are you feeling?" she asked. She moved her free hand to his face, feeling his forehead and neck for any signs of a fever or anything else.
Arnav took her other hand in his and held it to his mouth, kissing it lightly. "Khushi, I'm fine. Just a little tired, but I'm fine. How are you? Did you eat? Did you rest? You shouldn't be stressing too much." he said.
Khushi looked at him suspectedly, could he tell she was hiding something? "I'm fine, Arnav. The whole family made me eat and made me rest. I'm not taking on too much pressure. I'm fine. Don't worry about me, just concentrate on getting better." she replied.
Just as Arnav was going to reply, there was a knock and the nurse came in. "Good evening, Mr. Raizada, how are you? Any pain?" she asked.
Arnav shifted a little and grimaced in pain, but turning a straight face before Khushi could see. "Not much. I'm feeling better. When does my physical therapy start?" he asked, changing the subject.
"It starts tomorrow. And you will have to continue it after you go home." the nurse replied and continued checking his vitals. Once she was done, she gave him a dose of morphine for the pain and left.
Khushi held his hand again while she sat on a chair next to the bed and watched the medication take thier effect. A couple minutes later, Arnav was asleep and Khushi was watching him. Some time later, Khushi was resting her head on the hand that was holding Arnav's, sleeping.
The next couple days went by in a rush. The whole Raizada family was busy with the party and Arnav kept the two ladies busy, not that he had a choice or that they would listen to him. And he was too tired to argue with them. So he let them come, let them worry over him, only to a certain extent.
The family had planned to do a western party with desi thrown in. Just like Khushi had done with Payal and Akash's engagement party. They only invited family and Aman for the party, thinking the smaller it was, the better.
Khushi and Anjali toon turns with spending the days with Arnav. When Anjali was with Arnav, khushi was at home, being her usual self, planning, cooking and dancing. She choreographed a dance, taught it to the two girls Anjali had found, planned the food and the desi portion of the party. Then there was the chaos of trying to get her to eat and rest. No one would be able to get her to listen until someone threatened they would tell Arnav. Then every evening she would go to hospital and be with Arnav.
Then while Khushi was with Arnav, Anjali would be at home planning. She was in charge of the decorations and everything else that had to do with the western portion of the party. Anjali had picked out a couple of Arnav's favorite western movies, Taken, Saving Private Ryan and Batman, and his favorite foods: pasta, fried chicken and Caesar salad. When she wasn't planning, she was busy arguing with her family on eating and health. She was being stubborn like her sister-in-law about not being hungry. But saying the same thing they said to Khushi, they threatened to tell Arnav. After that, neither woman argued about eating, afraid of Arnav finding out.
Finally the week was over. Arnav was allowed to come home and the party preparations had been long done. The house was abuzz, everybody was very excited. Everybody got in two cars, wanting to be there when Arnav was discharged. Payal and Mami went with Akash while Nani and Anjali went with Mama. When they arrived at the hospital, Akash called Khushi to meet them at the lobby.
Khushi had gotten everything ready and all she had to do was sign the discharge papers. When she go the call from Akash, she told went downstairs to meet them. She greeted everybody and directed them to Arnav's room. They all went up together and hugged, cried and kissed their Chote. Akash and Mama took his things downstairs while Khushi went to sign the papers. She was so excited she could barely hold her hand still as she signed the papers. Once done, she gave the papers back to the nurse and walked back to Arnav's room.
On entering, she could see Arnav arguing with the nurse over changing. The nurse insisted that he still wasn't fully well and Arnav was arguing that he was fine. Khushi smiled at her husband's stubbornness to let anyone do anything go him.
"I said I don't need you. I can dress myself! I'm not a child anymore that I need help dressing!" He yelled at the nurse. Khushi figured it was enough and approached her husband and his nurse. She put a hand on Arnav's shoulder and willed him to calm down.
"It's ok. I'll help him dress." she told the nurse and smiled. She waited until the nurse left before turning to her husband. "Arnav, she was just doing her job, what was the need to yell at the poor woman for?" she asked her husband as she turned to get the bag with his clothes. She took out his shirt, a sweater and a pair of jeans. She handed him the the jeans to put on as she set out the other things. She then walked the couple steps to stand in front of him.
"Because she wasn't listening to me. I told her I didn't need her help. I'm not 6 that I need someone to dress me." he replied stubbornly.
Khushi put her hands around his neck, trying to untie the hospital gown from behind. "Really? And what about me? Won't you let me?" she asked seductively as she cleverly untied the gown without him finding out.
Arnav put his arms around her waist, pulling her closer. "Sweetheart, you are a whole different story." he said as he slowly bent his head down at an angle. Right at the moment, Khushi pulled away, pulling the gown with her, giggling as she threw the gown on the bed and grabbed the shirt. "What the?!" he yelled in confusion.
Khushi looked at Arnav and started laughing uncontrollably. "You said I could. So I am." she said as she helped him put the shirt on. She then grabbed his sweater and helped him put it on. When done, khushi turned around to fix the stuff when she felt two hands on her waist and pull her back into a wall. The two hands then wrapped tightly around her. Arnav then lowered his head to her shoulder and breathed in her scent, letting it engulf him. Khushi turned around and put her hands around his neck.
"Arnav..." she started.
"I love you Khushi. I'm sorry for ever doubting you." he said.
"Arnav, I love you too. But what did I say about bringing up the past. What happened happened. We can't change it." she said and raised her head and met his lips with hers, sealing their past and finally opening the next chapter of their lives together.
