Part 31 (B)
Arnav was almost at the end of the path, when suddenly the car sped at an alarming rate. He tried braking but the brakes were stuck. He then tried the emergency brake, but found that wasn't working either. He tried the steering wheel, but the wheel was locked now and the car was going at the top speed. He looked out and saw that hr was headed straight for a tree.
Khushi watched in horror as Arnav's car swerved left and right while going gayer and faster. She yelled his name, trying to get him to stop, but it was useless. He didn't slow down.
She couldn't do anything a she watched her husband's car crash into a tree and mere seconds later, burst into flames. She screamed as if her heart had been ripped out. She ran, crying, as fast as she could to where the burning car sat with her husband inside. She reached the flaming car just as Arnav limped from some feet behind the car where he had jumped out. He grabbed her and pulled her close, hugging her, calming her.
Shyam stood by his car as he watched the car explode. He smiled knowing that Arnav was finally out of his way. He started walking towards the running Khushi when he froze. He saw Arnav get up and grab Khushi and hold her close. He continued walking and noticed that Arnav saw him. He continued walking towards them, watching them. His eyes burned with a fire that burned hotter with every step he took closer to them. He saw Arnav pull Khushi behind him. He cautiously approached them, as he held his hand behind his back, out of Arnav and Khushi's line of vision.
"Saale sahib, what happened? Looks like your driving has been affected." he said as he saw Arnav lunge at him. He moved his hand from behind his back to his front. He heard Arnav gasp and Khushi scream. He pulled his hand back and saw a red stain, which was growing bigger, on his shirt in his abdominal area. He looked at his hand and saw blood on the knife. Arnav's blood.
Khushi saw the blood spread on his shirt. She ran to him as he fell to the floor. "No! No, you can't die. Please don't leave me, Arnav!" she sobbed. She laid his head in her lap and hugged him, laying her hand on his stomach to try to stop the blood.
Arnav raised his hand to her face and wiped her tears, "Jaan, I'm sorry...for everything...I should...have protected you...But...I didn't"
Khushi cried harder as she covered his mouth. "Don't. I'm sorry. I should have told you before. Please don't leave me, Arnav. I won't ever hide anything from you again. You can't leave me, Arnav!" she begged.
She remembered during Payal and Aakash's wedding, how Arnav got lost and she went crazy worrying about him. She remembered by the poolside how their hands met under the water and then he kissed her. She remembered Preeto's wedding when she went to get the flowers and they both fell. How he smiled for the first time at her after their wedding. She couldn't lose him. She wanted those moments to come back. She wanted to make more memories like those.
"Jaan..." he winced with pain, both from the stab wound and her tears. "I...love...you. I've...loved...you...since...I...saw...you. Please...forgive...me...before..." he said in between breaths. She shook her head, tears fling down her face faster.
He remembered the first time he met her, when she fell in his arms. When she threw the hot tea on him. That pain was nothing to what he was expeiriencing now. He remembered what he went through on the night of the havan when he thought Khushi had gotten hurt. If he had told her that night how he really felt, maybe this wouldn't have happened. He remembered when she tried putting the bangles that NK bought and they broke, How he had taken the piece. He wished he could go back in time and change everything that happened after THAT night.
"Please...Jaan..." he asked again.
"Khushi...please...I...need to...know..." tears slowly trailing down his face.
"I can't forgive you." she said.
"Khushi...I'm begging...you...please...tell me...you...forgive me..." he said as he gasped and arched his back, the life slowly draining away from him. She gasped in worried shock. She could feel his pain and felt so helpless that she couldn't do anything.
"I forgave you a long time ago! Arnav, I love you." she screamed. "Please don't go. For me."
"Khushi..." he whispered as he silently cried.
"For our baby." she said defeatedly.
Aakash finally freed himself and ran out the door into a large room, which was filled with all kinds of machines. He ran around, looking for a door and finally saw an opening. He ran into the room they had first walked in through and located the door. He ran out the door and saw a large car on fire and Bhabi sitting on the ground with someone in her lap. He couldn't see who it was because her back was to him. He saw Shyam standing peacefully a couple feet watching, therefore knew that it must be Bhai in her lap. He started running, knowing that something must be wrong.
"Khushi...I'm sorry...tell our...daughter...I love her...Jaan...I...love...you..." he said as his hand dropped from her cheek to the side and his eyes closed as his soul very slowly drifted to the heavens. Khushi screamed as the most horrible pain overcame her.
