Part 18
Arnav, having realized where he was and who else was in the room with them, walked towards the three laughing and one blushing women casually.
"Even after not leaving her side the whole trip, he has come back for his wife." Anjali snickered. "Sorry Di, but it's Khushi's appointment. I have to take her away from you three." he smiled at them. Then, to Khushi, he said "Are you ready?"
Khushi nodded and got up. Arnav held out his hand for her and she stopped for a second before taking it. When their skin came in contact, they both felt a spark that shocked both. Khushi looked up at her husband who was looking at her. Khushi looked away. They left the house and he helped her into car.
As he helped her in, Arnav thought that she was getting warmer with him. She wasn't as cold. He buckled her seatbelt and closed the door. As he went around, he thought of another plan to bring her even closer. To bring the love out more. He got in his seat and started towards the clinic.
Khushi was angry for what he had done inside. She knew this was all part of his plan to bring her back, but she wasn't falling for it, she told herself. If Nani and Di weren't in the room, she wouldn't have taken his hand. Now he was going to go inside with her. She didn't want to go with him. She would have gone with Jiji or Di or even Aakash rather than this laard governaar! At least Aakash would listen to her. Unlike this man!
"Where the hell are you? I told you to be here by now. They will arrive in 10 minutes! You need to get here in 5! Do you understand?" Shyam shouted into this phone. 'The idiot should've been here 15 minutes ago! He is going to ruin everything!" he thought to himself. A nurse walked up to him, "Sir, do you need something?" she asked.
"No! I'm waiting for someone." he shouted at her. The nurse apologized and scurried off.
Arnav parked the car and got out. He went around to help Khushi out, but saw her getting out with him. He ran to stop her and helped her out. He closed the door and held her hand firmly while she tried to free it.
"Khushi, give up. I'm not letting go." he looked at her. She looked up at him and stopped. They walked, hand in hand to the maternity ward, and checked in. The nurse told them to sit until the doctor calls them.
Even as they were sitting, Arnav would not let go of her hand. He held it as if it were the most fragile item on the planet that he was afraid of losing again, yet tightly enough no one would be able to break the hold. Khushi got her cell phone out an started playing a game on it while Arnav was messaging someone for business.
He was messaging one of his managers about the new fashion show that was coming up in two months. He got a call and hesitated. He knew calls had to be taken outside but he wasn't going to leave Khushi alone. He went to the doorway and took the call, that way he could still watch his wife. It was a new client that wanted to meet him immediately. They agreed to meet in an hour by the main lobby of the hospital. Arnav hung up and went back to his wife. Just as he arrived the nurse came out and called Khushi's name. Arnav helped her up and grabbed her hand. They followed the nurse into a room.
Khushi felt really awkward walking with Arnav holding her hand. They walked into the the room and sat down on the chairs.
"Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Raizada. I am Dr. Amita Kapur and will be your doctor for your pregnancy. How are you feeling, Mrs. Raizada?" she said.
"Hi. I'm good." Khushi replied. Arnav just nodded.
"That's good to hear. Now what symptoms do you have? Do you have morning sickness, fatigue, tender breasts?" the doctor asked.
Khushi slightly blushed hearing breasts. "I just feel tired. I do feel sick, but don't throw up." "Ok," They talked a little more about her symptoms, then the doctor had Khushi lay down on the table for the first ultrasound. She looked at Arnav and wondered if he would leave. She really didn't want to do this with him in the room.
Arnav watched Khushi lay on the table and look at him with wondering eyes. He shook his head, understanding what she wanted. He would have given her everything, but not this.
"Khushi, I'm not leaving." he said matter-of-factly, having the decision made. He saw Khushi sigh, whether in relief or defeat, he didn't know.
He wasn't going to listen to her, so she gave up. She looked at Amita, who was getting a tube out. She walked to the table and applied a cold gel substance all over her stomach. She brought over a machine and got a wand type thing and moved it to her stomach. As Amita moved the wand, a picture showed up on a monitor that the wand was attached to.
"That is your baby," Amita commented as she pointed to a round circle on the monitor.
Arnav watched the small circle, no, his baby, move around the monitor. He was amazed that something so small would grow into a baby. His baby, he thought as he smiled to himself.
Khushi was lost as she stared at the screen. This would be her baby. No, their baby. She felt a spark in her heart that she had never felt before. Not even when Arnav touched her. No this spark came from being a mother. No one would call her a mother yet, because she didn't have her baby, but any woman that has felt this, would say that she is a mother.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Whhat has Shyam planned now? Who was he talking to?
