Arnav Singh Raizada. ASR. In the world of business he was known as calculative and stone hearted to the point of being apathetic. He had taken over various companies and fired countless incompetent employees without a blink of his eye. But if those people could see him now, could see the fear, helplessness and desperation present on his face as clear as the light of day, they would be astonished. And all it had taken was one riotous, feisty girl to move this mountain.
The apprehensive anticipation Arnav was feeling right now made him feel like he was waiting for his death row. A death row in which his life was in the hands of a tiny woman who was lying peacefully on the hospital bed, completely unaware of the torture she was ensuing inside him. He knew that if anything happened to her, he would never be the same. He knew that fact as surely as he knew his own name. The great ASR would be a broken man.
While sitting on one the chairs besides Khushi's room with his head bent, all the moments he had spent with her flashed before his closed eyes. All the times he had insulted her, all the times he had made her cry and all the times she had selflessly tried to help him and his family. Most importantly, all the moments he had missed, in which he could have told her how he felt. He could have told her how he had inexplicably and desperately fallen in love with her. Instead, he had spent his time doing everything in his power to subdue the feelings, to run away from her. Now he would give anything to turn back time and have the chance to tell her only once how he truly felt about her. 'What if ' what if he never got to tell her '. NO I cant think like that. I refuse to let that happen. She will wake up and I will tell her everything I should have said a long time back', Arnav vowed to himself with determination in his eyes.
Everyone except Payal, Akaash and Arnav had gone back to the Raizaida Mansion. Khushi's mother and Buaji wanted to stay but they convinced them to go home by promising to let them know as soon as Khushi a woke up. Although Nani and Buaji had thought imprudent to let Akaash and Payal to meet before the wedding, under the circumstances they had allowed it when Akaash insisted on staying to support Payal. Both of them were currently in the room with Khushi. Arnav did not trust himself enough to go into the room and keep control with Khushi there. He knew he would lose it the minute he saw her lying so helplessly in the cold sterile hospital room.
"Bhai.",Akaash's hand on his shoulder shoke Arnav out of his tumultuous thoughts. He saw Akaash standing in front him with Payal behind him.
"Bhai, woh Payal ji ko thori der ke liye hospital ke cafeteria mein le kar jaa raha hoon take woh kuch kha bhi lein or thori calm down bhi ho jayein. Aap kuch lein ge kya?" (Bro, I am taking Payal ji to the cafeteria for while so that she can relax and eat something) Arnav knew he wouldn't be able to stomach anything and refused. Instead, he used the opportunity to go see Khushi alone so that he could let his emotions go unbridled.
Arnav quickly walked across the hallway to the door. He silently opened the door and glanced at the bed. His heart stilled for a moment when he looked her lying in sea of white. She looked so small, so vulnerable at that moment that he had the irresistible urge to just wrap her in his arms and take her far away where no danger, no pain could touch her. He took long strides towards her and took hold of her right hand very tenderly. He sat down on the chair beside the bed, holding her hand in between both of his. For a time he just stared at her as if to reassure himself that for now she was okay. She was safe and he still had a chance. Once again, he talked to her in a desperate voice,
"Please Khushi. Itni bari sazaa na do mujhe. Tum chalao, maaro mujhe, jo marzi karo lekin don't leave me. I just can't'." (Please Khushi, don't punish me like this. You can yell at me, you can hit me. Just do whatever you want but don't leave me. I just can't)
With that he bowed his head over her hand that was held by him, his throat too tight to continue any longer. Finally, in the silence of the room, he let his tears flow unabashed. He couldn't remember when he cried the last time and it was strange sensation. While crying he spoke her name like a litany, willing with all his strength for her to wake up.
Khushi was slowly regaining consciousness. She could feel the she was lying in a bed although she couldn't remember how she got there. There was an annoying beeping sound that was getting louder by the minute and her whole body felt lethargic. At first she couldn't hear or feel anything except for that beeping sound but when she concentrated she could sense that her hand was being held by someone in a soft and warm grip. She also realized the that someone who was holding her hand was also saying something. Her body and heart recognized the touch and the voice but her brain was refusing to cooperate. Still there was such naked desperation present in the voice that she felt her heart constrict. She tried to make her eyes cooperate and open themselves but it felt like her eyelids were taped shut. She murmured something in her struggle and again tried to open her eyes.
"Ugh'"
Arnav jerked his head up when he heard the whisper. He quickly moved closer to her and stared at her intently. Then honey brown eyes opened to look into his and Arnav could swear he had never felt relief like that before.
Khushi opened her eyes to find herself looking at Arnav, staring intently at her with relief evident on his face. She looked questioningly at him when, wonder of wonders, his lips quirked into a lopsided smile. Her already clogged brain lost all train of thoughts it was recovering upon seeing his smile and all she could do was stare at him with wide eyes. 'Hai Devi Maiyya he looks so cute.'
Arnav just stared at Khushi for a moment to make sure that she was actually awake and not a figment of his imagination. When he realized that she was truly awake, he smiled in relief.
"Khushi? Are you alright? Ab kaisa feel kar rahi ho?" ( How are you feeling?) Arnav asked her in a concerned voice.
Khushi opened her mouth to answer him but found that her throat was too dry for her to talk. Arnav must have realized the same because he stood up and brought her a glass of water from a table placed on the side of the room. Khushi started to lean up in a sitting position when Arnav quickly started helping her by adjusting the pillows. Then when he was satisfied that she was comfortable he brought the glass up to her mouth so that she could have a drink.
Khushi was feeling terribly confused and bewildered by all of this. All she could do was stare at Arnav with wide eyes in a expression she was sure looked stupid. At same time she couldn't help but feel touched that she was being taken care of so gently and preciously by him. Speaking of being taken care of she wondered what happened to her that she fainted like that,
"Arnav ji '" Khushi said in a soft voice. She was afraid to speak any louder in case it broke whatever spell Arnav was in which was making him behave so nicely.
"Haan Khushi?" (Yes Khushi?)
"Woh hum ye' hum ye poochna chahte the keh humein kya hua tha? Mera matlab hai keh pehle toh hum bilkul theek the. Waise bilkul theek toh nahin the agar ab hum sochein toh. Humein chakar to aa rahe the lekin hum ne socha keh kuch kha lein toh theek ho jayein ge. Lekin pata nahin hum kaise behosh ho gaye. Humein kuch yaad nahin hai. Toh bataiye na keh humein kya hua tha? Aap kuch bol kyun nahin rahe hain?" (I umm wanted to know, what happened to me. I was fine before. Well, I wasn't completely fine. I was feeling a bit dizzy but I thought it was because I hadn't eaten properly all day. I don't know how I fainted. I don't remember anything. So tell me what happened? Why aren't you saying anything?)
Arnav had a half amused, half bewildered smile on his face while Khushi was talking. Her non stop talking was proof more than ever that she fine now.
"God Khushi! Tum kuch bolne do gi toh bolon ga na. Tum behoosh hogi thi kisi cheez ke katne ki wajah se." (God Khushi! I will talk when you will let me speak. You fainted because something bit you)
When Khushi heard this, she recalled how she had hurt herself on her hand while looking for her dupatta. She was just about to ask Arnav that where were the rest of her family when she noticed the he was looking at her with anger. She couldn't remember saying or doing anything to be the cause of his ire and was about to ask him what was wrong when he started speaking to her in an irate tone,
"Aur ek baat aur. Tumhein jab chakar aa rahe the to tum ne kisi ko bataya kyun nahi. Mujhe kyun nahin bataya. Mein ussi waqt doctor ko bula leta tu tumhein shayad hospitalize na hona parta. Kya tumhe pata hai keh kitni serious haalat thi tumhari. Agar tumhein kuch aur der tak hosh nahin aata to ' to. Tum kaise itni irresponsible ho sakti ho?" ( And one more thing. When you were feeling dizzy why didn't you tell anyone? Why didn't you tell me? I would have called the doctor right away and then maybe you wouldn't be in the hospital right now. Do you even know how serious you were? If you were unconscious for a little longer then ' then. How could you be so irresponsible?)
Khushi couldn't believe this man. She was lying in a hospital bed with no idea what had happened to her and even for this he was blaming HER. She could feel her anger rising to a boiling point,
"Arre, is mein hamari kya galti hai. Aur hum aapko kyun bataae apni koi bhi baat? Aur aap ko kyun hamari itni fikr ho rahi hai?" (How is this my fault? And why should I tell you anything? And why were you worried)
Khushi replied with a huff and stared him right at the eye. At hearing this Arnav felt his anger rise. At the back of his mind he knew that he was yelling at her for no reason but the tumultuous emotions of the last few hours had left him drained.
"Main kyun fikr kar rahan hoon? Kyun? Tum jaanti bhi ho kya keh mera kya haal hua tha in the past few hours? Do you even know how scared I was?!" Arnav yelled at her. (Why was I worried? Do you even know what I went through in the past few hours?! Do you know how scared I was?)
Khushi just stared wide eyed as she watched Arnav stand up and run a hand through his hair. He paced about the room for a second, turned and stared at her with eyes filled with so many emotions at once that it was hard to decipher them. Just then they were interrupted by the entrance of Aakaash and Payal.
"Khushi!" Payal exclaimed and rushed forward to hug her. Khushi for the moment forgot about what had happened and hugged her jiji back tightly. Payal moved back, looking at Khushi with concern on her face.
"Ab kaisa lag raha? Kahin dard to nahin ho raha?" (How are you feeling now? Does it hurt anywhere) Payal asked while tenderly tucking Khushi's hair behind her ears. Khushi leaned into her jiji's hand and replied that she was fine. While talking to her sister Khushi couldn't help but let her eyes stray to Arnav, who was standing at the side of room with his arms crossed, looking to be in some deep thought. At feeling her eyes on him, he glanced at her and Khushi quickly reverted her eyes downwards. A blush came upon her cheeks as she shyly glanced at him to find him staring at her. She was caught in his gaze when the door opened and the doctor came in.
He checked her vitals and announced after he was done that Khushi was fine but they just wanted to keep her here under observation for the night. Khushi protested at this, insisting that she was alright but everyone just ignored her. Then there was an argument about who will stay the night with Khushi. She was surprised when Arnav insisted that he be the one to stay but at the end Payal won the argument. Khushi was shocked to hear that Arnav had stayed the whole while she had been at the hospital but along with shock she also felt strangely happy at hearing this. She knew something had changed between her and Arnav but couldn't figure out what it was. She decided she will deal with it when the time came.

Arnav wanted to kill that stupid Ishika girl due to whom he was unable to pick up Khushi from the hospital himself. He had wanted to make sure that everything was alright and dealt with but this idiotic girl had mixed up the schedules and so despite him stating otherwise there an important meeting scheduled this morning. Arnav sighed, resisting the urge to check his watch for the 3rd time in the last five minutes.
Khushi was happily sitting on her bed, munching on her favourite pakoras and drinking hot tea. 'One advantage of being sick was that you got pampered. A lot.' She thought with a mischevious smile on her face.
"Khushi ab kis baat pe mann hi mann mein muskara rahi ho? Koi nayi shetaani toh nahi sooj rahi tumhare dimaag mein?" (Khushi why are so smiling like that. Are you thinking of some kind of a mischeive?)
Khushi perfected her features into a picture of innocence and answered her sister who was looking at her rather suspiciously.
"Nahi jiji. Aap aisa kyun sochti hain. Hum toh bas yeh soch rahe the keh aap ne saari raat Aakaash ji keh saath akili bitai hospital mein. Kuch hua kya?" (Not at all. Why do you think like that? I was just thinking that yesterday you spend the entire night alone with Aakaash ji in the hospital. Did something happened?)
Khushi asked, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively at her sister when she blushed, looking down at her feet. Khushi was about to indulge in her favourite past time a bit more, which was teasing her sister when the phone rang. Khushi got up, answering the phone in her usual cheerful voice,
"Hello."
Arnav could literally feel his body relax as the sound of her voice washed over his being like a calming potion. He hadn't realized how tensed and on edge he had been since last seeing her until he heard her voice.
"Khushi mujhe tum se kuch important baat karni hai", ( I want to talk to you about something important) he said getting straight to the point as was his custom.
Khushi's eyes threatened to pop out of her head when she heard who was on the other end of the phone. Her breathing started to rise, causing her heart to beat faster. She had no idea whatsoever why she was being called by the great ASR. 'What have I done now? Hai Devi Maiyya humse koi bhi kaam theek se kyun nahi hota.'
"Ji kahiye" (Yes?) came the tentative reply from Khushi's side. Arnav considered once more what he was about to do knowing there would be no going back once the dye was cast. ' No. I have to do this. Come on ASR'.
"Khushi, mujhe tum se kuch discuss karna hai jo hum dono ko concern karta hai. Main tumse iss bare mein akele mein baat karna chahta hoon is liye aaj shaam 7 baje tayaar rehna mein tumhe pick karne aaon ga. Kya baat hai woh main tumhein mil kar hi bataao ga." (I want to talk to you about something that concerns both of us. I want us to talk alone so I will come pick you up at 7 tonight. I will tell tonight what it is I want to talk to you about.)
Arnav said in his commanding tone which he automatically reverted to whenever telling somebody what to do no matter to whom he was speaking with. "Par-" (But-)
"Aur haan, don't be late." With that Arnav shut the phone not in a mood or having the guts to answer her countless questions which he was sure were going through her head right now. He released a breath he didn't realized he was holding. He wasn't worried of her refusal to come because he knew enough about Khushi to know that she was too curious for her own good. 'Well,' he thought with a sigh 'the easy part is over. Now for the hard part because Khushi Kumari Gupta wont this make easy for me that's for sure'.
Khushi was still staring dumbfounded at the phone in her hands confused whether the fastest telephone conversation of her life had actually happened five minutes later. She fumed thinking of the way he ordered her to be ready at 7, just assuming that she would agree. ' What does he think of himself? That annoying raakshas Laad GOVERNER!! Ughh…' She stomped her foot in pure rage and stalked to her bedroom to sulk for a while. She was so angry that… she could… just Argh! She laid down on her bed with a huff.
But then, why did the thought of going to dinner with Arnav, all alone, gave her a strange feeling like a thousand butterflies were dancing inside her stomach? Hai Devi Maiyya please save me from that raakshas and myself tonight.
Khushi told her family that she going to meet a friend instead of telling them the truth. She didn't know for sure why she lied but when she was about to ask for permission from her Amma and Buaji something inside of her told her it would be wiser to not tell them the truth for now. She prayed that Devi Maiyya would forgive her for her little lie. She was feeling the worst about lying to Payal because she never hid anything from her sister.
Arnav changed his shirt for the third time, cursing himself for not buying any colour other than black, white and grey. After he had changed, he looked himself over in the mirror, willing himself to calm down. He took a few deep breaths, grabbed his car keys and headed out. He didn't know why he was feeling so nervous about this dinner with Khushi. It wasn't like it was his first date. He mentally laughed at that thought. He was very experienced in this area but then why did he feel so anxious. Why was he constantly wondering whether she would like the place he had chosen for them to dine at or how tonight will turn out. 'Because' he thought with sudden realization, ' Khushi is different. What I feel for her, what we have is different. Special. And I will make sure to make tonight a night she would never forgot'. With that Arnav drove to Khushi's house to pick her up for their first date.
Khushi was ready at six forty five sharp, sitting on the sofa waiting anxiously for his car to arrive. She hadn't thought ahead about what she was going to tell everyone when they saw Arnav picking her up but it turned out she didn't have to worry. Everyone made plans to go visit Buaji's friend that night, saving her from an onslaught of awkward and unwanted questions. 'Well, it's good to know that Devi Maiyya is with me. Now at least I have one ally I can rely upon when going to war with the Laad Governer. Thank you Devi Maiyya' Khushi thought with a smile on her face, blowing a kiss heavenward in a show of love for her Devi Maiyya. She looked at the clock, butterflies erupting in her stomach when she realized that it was close to 7 meaning Arnav would be here any minute. Just at that moment she saw the devil himself pull his car in front of her house and rushed to her room to put on her shoes which she noticed at the last minute, she had forgotten.
Arnav got out of the car after conspicuously checking if his hair was alright. He berated himself for acting like a teenage boy on his first date and walked ahead with a confident gait. He knocked on the door and stood there impatiently for the door to open. And when it did Arnav lost all of his speaking ability in a second. He could do nothing but stare at the vision in blue before his eyes. Khushi was wearing a royal blue anarkali dress with intricate and elegant silver design woven into it. Her hair was open and framed her innocent face perfectly. Arnav swallowed hard to wet his suddenly dry throat, "Khushi, you look…"
At seeing the expression on his face and the intensity of his eyes, Khushi blushed while lowering her eyes to the ground. Her heart was pounding in her chest at seeing Arnav looking so handsome and she eagerly awaited for him to compliment her. Arnav snapped himself out of the moment and cleared his throat to fill the awkward silence left by his moment of speechlessness. "I mean to say its good that you are ready. We don't want to be late. Let's go." With that Arnav started walking purposefully towards the car to avoid any other blunder on his part. Get a hold of yourself Arnav. Behave like a MAN not a boy.
He looked back to see Khushi following him slowly with a disappointed expression on her face. Damn it! I should have complimented her. Shit she looks so beautiful that I just … Ugh What does this girl do to me?!
Although Khushi felt a bit downhearted when Arnav didn't compliment her, she forced herself to keep her chin up and not let the typical behaviour of the Laad Governer upset her. She looked surprisingly at him when he opened the car door for her to get in. After she had settled down he closed the door and walked to the driver's to get in.
After 15 minutes of driving Khushi, had successfully worn out her limited knowledge of the roads of Dehli. She would have asked Arnav where they were going but she didn't want to break the peaceful and comfortable silence that existed in the car with the classical music playing on the stereo adding just the right touch. Khushi herself was not a big fan of instrumental music, preferring a more energetic genre herself but at this moment it was adding just the right touch. Both of them had been continuously stealing glances at each other throughout the drive and were painfully aware of an electrically charged air the existed between them.
When Arnav pulled the car in a parking lot filled with a few other cars, Khushi looked around trying to gauge her surroundings. Arnav, once again, came to open Khushi's door for her, "Arnav ji I could have opened the door by myself. Aap ko takleef karne ki koi zaroorat nahi thi."
"Khushi it's the gentlemanly thing to do. Mujhe pata keh tum door khol sakti ho but that's not the point." Arnav explained to her exasperatedly while walking towards the restaurant with Khushi following close behind, with a confused frown on her face. She couldn't wrap her mind around how Arnav was acting around her tonight. Hai Devi Maiyya yeh laad Governor to humein pagal kar dein ge. (Oh God the laad governer is going to drive me crazy)
When they entered the restaurant, the sound of live music being played close by reached her ears. She noticed that the most of the restaurant was set outside with only a few tables fixed inside. Both of them followed the host as she led them to the glass doors that opened to the outer area of the restaurant. When the doors opened Khushi was amazed to see that the rest of the restaurant was built on a lake. She could hear the sound of water as the host led them to their table which was in a secluded corner. All of the tables were covered in white with white sofas placed instead of chairs. Each of the table had curtains surrounding them which were pulled back with a beautiful silver cloth. There was also a raised platform on one side of the room that being served as a dance floor with the band playing beautiful songs in the background.
"So did you like the place Khushi?" Arnav asked her when they had settled down. Khushi paused in her observations of the place to answer him with a bright smile on her face, "Yes Arnavji the place is very nice. Lagta hi nahin hai keh hum abhi bhi Dehli mein hain. Aisa lag raha hai keh hum bahar kahin aur agayein hain. Aur pani par bana hua restaurant to hum ne pehli baar dekha hai. Yahaan laney ke liye shukriya." ( Yes, the place is very nice. It doesn't feel we are in Dehli anymore. I feels like we have come outside someplace. And this is the first time I am seeing a restaurant built on top of water. Thank you for bringing me here.)
Arnav listened to her talk with a small smile on his face. He was glad that she liked the place he had picked out because Khushi was not like all the other girls he had dated in the past. No she was different and special. Khushi's eyes widened as she saw him smile and she got a tingly feeling in her stomach at seeing the warmth in his eyes. Just then the waiter came to take their order.
"Kya logi Khushi? Yahaan ka Lucknowi food kafi famous hai. Do you want to order that?" (So what do you want to eat? They are famous for cooking good Lucknow food. Do you want that?)
Arnav had picked this restaurant especially because it had a good reputation for Lucknowi food. He wanted her to feel comfortable and have a good time with him. They ordered the food and the waiter left stating it would be served in 15 minutes. Arnav didn't like the way the waiter was staring at Khushi most of the time and giving her wide smile whenever she was talking to him. He was glad that he left and looked at the Khushi to see her looking nervous as if she wanted to say something to him.
"Woh…. Arnav ji aap ko kya baat karni thi humse? Aap ne phone pe kaha tha na keh ek koi baat hai jo hum dono ke bare mein hai." (What was it you wanted to talk about? The thing that concerns us both.)
Arnav didn't want to discuss what he had say just yet. He had no idea how she would react and he didn't want to spoil a perfectly good evening.
"Woh… let's talk about it after lunch ok?" Khushi frowned at his reply but nodded her consent nevertheless. She was burning with curiosity about what was it that he wanted to talk to her about but she had a feeling it would be better if she let him start the conversation.
Arnav gave an internal sigh of relief when she didn't press the issue further. I need to distract her in case she decides she doesn't want to wait anymore. He looked around and spotted a dance floor at the corner of the room which a few couples were already occupying. Now, Arnav Singh Raizada wasn't much of a dancer but since he Khushi had entered his life, he had done countless things which he had never done before. And besides it's a perfectly good excuse to touch her, to hold her close in my arms.
"Khushi?"
"Hmmm..?" She turned to him from where she was admiring the full moon and was taken aback by the twinkle in his eyes. He looked at her intently while he stood up and held out his hand. Khushi's mind had already turned foggy so she couldn't for the life of her figure out what he wanted from her.
"Would you dance with me?" Arnav asked at seeing her confounded expression. Khushi's eyes widened and her heart decided that was the appropriate time to try to jump out of her chest. She tentatively placed her hand in his and it was immediately engulfed in his warm, strong grip. Hai Devi Maiyya! I don't know what happens to me whenever he looks at me like that. Its like the connection between my brain and my mouth goes haywire. I cant seem to talk.
They walked to the dance floor hand in hand, Arnav stopping them in the corner besides the railing so that they were overlooking the lake. Khushi wasn't meeting his eyes so he decided to take initiative putting his free hand on her waist and pulling her close. At the swift movement her eyes went to his face to find it closer than she thought. He momentarily parted their joined hand to grab her other hand and placed it on his shoulder. Slowly, they started dancing at a rhythm only they could hear, all the while keeping their gazes locked with each other.
Arnav was experiencing feelings that he had never dreamt of having for anyone. But here he was, with this beautiful girl in his arms who had turned his life upside down since the moment she had entered it. Now, it had come to the point that the life he had led before meeting her didn't make sense anymore. He felt his heart constrict when he remembered what he had felt when she had fainted and he pulled her closer to him. Now they were only a hairbreadth away.
Khushi was startled by the pain she saw in his eyes, wondering what had caused it. She had the uncontrollable urge to wipe it away from his face, comfort in any way she could even if she didn't know the reason for it. She laid her head down on his chest, moving her arms to hold him by the waist. She had decided to live in the moment and shut her brain out. Besides it didn't work properly anyways whenever he was around.
Arnav mused what had instigated Khushi's move but being a typical man, he decided to savour what he could and laid his head on her top on hers with a sigh. He placed a light kiss on her hair, inhaling its rosy scent which had become a fixture in his life lately. Khushi looked up at him, their lips so close together they if she raised her head just a little they would be kissing. He looked down at her doe like eyes, moving his hand up to stroke her cheek.
"Ar… Arnav ji…" Khushi said in a voice that had dream like quality to it. "Hmm…"
"Woh…" Khushi was trying to remember what it was she wanted to say but he and his magical eyes were making it so difficult. Something related to…
"Khana!" She suddenly exclaimed and pulled herself out of his arms. Arnav was startled when he felt his empty arms and looked at her surprised.
"Woh waiter, the waiter is calling us. Our food is ready." Khushi said as fast she could, eyes staring at the ground like it held some great secret. Without waiting to see if he was coming or not, she went to their table briskly. Arnav sighed while running a hand through his hair in frustration. He was frustrated at himself for not being able to control himself around her and he was also frustrated at the waiter, who had impeccable timing. He turned around to go to his table when something made him stop half way. Khushi was chattering to their server with a wide smile on her face. She was looking at him with a radiant expression, laughing merrily at something the jerk said. Arnav felt his jaw clench and his hand tighten into fists at the sight. She has never talked or looked at me this way. He took angry steps towards the pair, intent on finding out what the heck was going on. He had just reached the table and was about to open his mouth when Khushi beat him to the punch,
"Arnav ji, there you are." She said to him with such a smile on her face that Arnav felt his anger melting away faster than it had come.
"I want to introduce you to somebody. This is Chiku, my very good friend." Khushi said while turning to face this Chiku person. When Arnav glanced at him, he felt his anger return with a vengeance.
"Chiku?" He asked with a raised eyebrow and a sardonic tone.
"Yes. You see Chiku and I used to be the best of friends when we were little but when I was about thirteen years old, Chiku's dad got a new in Dehli and moved here. We lost contact after some time and we have met once again. Here!" Then Khushi proceeded to explain her childhood adventures with Chiku, and asking him about his entire family. By now, Khushi and Arnav had sat down on the table, with Chiku as an unwanted guest. Well from Arnav's side anyway, Khushi was very happy to have been reunited with her dear friend.
Arnav wondered if the owner of this restaurant had ever heard of the term professionalism when he allowed Chiku to end his shift 3o minutes early on the persistent requests of Khushi. On the other hand, you cant blame him for melting like butter by Khushi's smile. He thought with a fond smile on his face, looking at Khushi with an adoring expression which immediately vanished when he saw she was still talking to the Chiku, not paying him a bit of attention. Arnav had the urge to sulk like a child but maintained his dignity, instead suffering the rest of the night in fuming silence while Khushi and that Chiku (Seriously who calls their kid Chiku!) continued to chatter away.
