Chapter 4 ' Mates!!

Next, me and my dad spoke to Samrat and included him in our mission. This was regarding his pack and as a future alpha he deserved to know what was on. Both of us shook hands and agreed on working together.

When i came back..i didn't want anything but to look and observe Nupur...god i am so whipped...all i wanna do is be close to her, cuddle her, love her and what not. I noticed her expressions as Alice joined my pack and left hers. I watched her go and congratulate the couple. No longer able to control myself and wanting to be close to my mate..i walked towards her.

"Missed me, Love"

I whispered in my mate's ear. I felt her shiver at my tone and then go stiff. She turned towards me , took my hand and led the way.

" We are even now Mayank" I felt his eyes widen with shock and felt myself doing a victory dance.

I turned to walk off...before going i looked back and said " oh by the way, i did miss u a lot...not!! But i know ur gonna miss me tonight." I winked and walked off leaving him alone.

As soon as i was out of his sight, i let out a breath. I replayed the incident in my mind and shuddered with passion, need and longing. I knew i was too gonna miss him tonight.

I noticed my frnds coming towards me and quickly regained my composure.

I watched her leave. Damnit!!! I knew i was in for worse...i didn't expect her to play like this with me...but i liked it. My wolf almost took the control and was about to mark her. We both are glad we didn't. I couldn't help but replay the game again...damn i felt myself getting hard. I needed a long cold shower to calm down...i knew i couldn't go back to the party and not claim her. I shifted and went back home to take a relaxing shower. All this while thinking only one thing...what would have happened if she hadn't pushed me away..? just the thought sent waves of pleasures down my body...

My thoughts went to how her body felt against mine..how i wanted to kiss her juicy lips...how i wanted to feel her up...her laughter..her voice...everything related to her played in my mind and filled me with passion. I couldn't imagine my life without her anymore.

i realised i was deeply in love with my mate...and very soon she would be mine...all MINE!!!

End of Pov

Samrat decided to sleepover at benji's place. He was still unaware of Gunjan's presence in his house. After everyone left, Samrat's parents and the pack doctor checked up Gunjan. They understood that she was in a worse condition and it would take a lot of time for her to heal. Leave the physical pain...her heart had suffered the most. She is emotionally weak now and lost all her self-confidence...it would take a long long time to bring her to a normal she-wolf position. It would be hard for her to trust or love anyone. Samrat's parents vowed to protect her from all the harms...she was like a daughter they never had and felt very protective about her.

Next day...

The university was over for the day. It was normal nothing too special. The only interesting thing was Mayank made an entry and immediately had girls drooling and falling over him which irritated Nupur. Nupur was still confused about her feelings. Mayank and Nupur never crossed each other paths and were happy as well as sad about it.

Present scene

Samrat's mom(SM) comes there.

SM: " Oh thank god...u both are here together..i wanted to talk to the two of u"

S:"what is it mom?"

SM:"we have a new member to our pack...ur dad found her yesterday trespassing...she is in a very bad condition..i want both of u to make her feel comfortable and be friends with her"

N:"oh aunty...what happened to her?"

SM:" its not my story to tell..but all i can say is she was ill-treated by her old pack...she is upstairs in the guest room...the one next to samrat's room...go meet her and check if she is awake...i will bring some snacks there"

S n N: okay

Both the friends went upstairs and opened the guest room.

Samrat's Pov

When mom told me about this certain new girl i could hear her protective tone. I was confused when she said she was in a bad condition...but something in me wanted to protect her...i didn't know why i was having such feelings...i haven't even seen her yet...

Nupur and I went in the guest room and was shocked at the sight.

There, on the bed, lay the most beautiful girl i have ever seen but she looked so broken and pale. She was still sleeping and i could see her hair was coming onto her face...blocking my view and at the same time irritating her. I moved forward on my own and raised my hand to tug her hair behind her ear. As soon as i touched her i felt sensations. Something which we feel with our mate. I think she felt it too...because right then she opened her eyes and i got lost in her lovely black eyes. I zoned out..and it was only me and her...my wolf started jumping happily and kept saying "Mate... Mate... Mate.."

I saw her eyes widen and then she just closed her eyes and fell asleep. I knew she was exhausted and her body needed rest...so i didn't panic on her falling asleep again...i knew this was normal in us wolves.

I looked at the lifeless body infront of me and felt tears in my eyes. My mate looked so broken. I wanted to kill those bas***ds who had done this to her. I didn't know if she realised we are mates but one thing i know for sure...she is my life now i wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt her. I would always be there for her protecting her.

"Sam, whats wrong?"

Nupur's Pov

I looked confusedly at the happenings...one minute Samrat was next to me and the other he was there with the new girl...

Something about him told me...this girl was special for him...

I heard Samrat's mom come up. She saw me and then glanced at Samrat...even she realised something was wrong and asked..

"Sam, whats wrong?"

"She is my mate"

He said softly...i heard Samrat's mom gasp.

No No NO!!!...This cant be!!

All my life i thought Samrat was my mate...but now...he...he says this new girl is his mate. And the way he was looking at her...it was obvious he has already given his heart to her. I felt tears threatening to come out...i wanted to cry out loud...i lost my love...my first love...my best frnd...

I couldn't cry infront of him...i knew he needed me to support him and give him strength that his mate would be fine but i couldn't...i didn't have any strength...i quickly excused myself and left from there..never looking back once...

God!! What has happened? I felt my heart break...i felt the pain...i had lost my love forever.

Mayank's Pov

I felt my heart ache suddenly...i felt like crying...i didn't understand the emotions and then my wolf said "MATE!! MATE IS IN PAIN!!"

My eyes widened and i quickly shifted to search for my mate...i knew where she would be...the lake...the place where we met for the first time...

Samrat's Pov

I was still staring at my mate...wanting her to get up..but i wasn't rewarded...

I felt a hand on my shoulder...i turned and saw my mother looking at me with tears in her eyes. I knew she could understand my pain...i looked around the room...and realised Nupur had left...she left me when i needed the comfort of my best frnd...i looked at my mate and then at my mom

"what happened to her?"

"I dunno Samrat...Ur father had brought her in yesterday...while u guys were at the party...she has been unconsciousness since then...when we contacted the pack doctor...she said her wolf has gone weak..so it would take time for her to heal...and more than physical pain...its her emotional pain that we need to take care about...she needs to feel loved and cared for..."

I cut my mom in between

"I already love her mom...i cant see her like this...i cant live without her"

"I know son...its natural for u to feel this way..."

"I promise to love her forever and take care of her...she looks so fragile and broken..."

I caressed her cheeks with my fingers very lightly...scared that i might hurt her...

I then heard the pack doctor enter the room

Doc:"umm...whats going on?"

S:"She is my mate doctor..."

I heard her gasp and whisper a soft sorry

I looked at her and made my gaze hard

"Look..i don't care how u do it...but i want her to be fine...u have to freaking make sure she wakes up and is fully fit and fine asap...do u get me??"

She looked scared and nodded her head...my mom pressed my shoulder and told me to calm down

I took a deep breath and asked

"What happened to her doc?"

"Umm..samrat..actually..by the looks of it..she was beaten up by her members almost everyday...she has lots of broken ribs and bones...it will take her atleast a week and a half to heal...i know u must be thinking that in wolves healing is done in an hour...but her wolf is very weak...it looks like she was not allowed to shift also...and you know our wolves start to get weak if they cant shift...her healing ability is very slow...and to add to it...she was starved...she did not get proper amount of food due to which her human body is also weak...she has a bad immune system and if she had stayed at her old pack's for a week more...she would have died..."

I cringed as the doctor explained my mates condition

"Samrat...did she open her eyes?"

"Yes she had...when i touched her...thats how i knew she was my mate...her scent is almost not there...so i couldn't make out by her scent...but when i looked in her eyes..i knew she was mate...but then she just widened her eyes and then fell asleep...why so?"

"Look she felt those sensations when u touched her...so her wolf had forced her to open her eyes...like i said her wolf is very weak so i don't think she has recognised u as her mate...her eyes had widened due to shock...i think she was thinking u would harm her...she is not in the condition to trust anyone Samrat...so u would have to be very careful with her...she might ignore u for sometime but u must not lose hope and treat her lovingly...she would eventually give in and it wont be long enough because her wolf would recognise urs...and about her scent...its not there because her wolf is not strong...i think she used human medicines to heal herself...and the drugs in her system has erased the scent but don't worry it would come back once she heals..."

I listened to the doctor carefully...noting down everything...i couldn't let anything happen to my mate...i looked at her again and was sure i would never ever leave her...i would make her feel safe and protected...she was my responsibility now...she would come before everything for me...

I pressed my lips on her forehead and then let the doctor take up the check up routine...

After the check up...my mom left me alone with my mate...i gently lifted her up and walked towards my room...she is my mate and she would stay with me...

I placed her on the bed making sure i don't hurt her in anyway...i pulled up the blanket to her face and tucked her in...i sat beside her on the bed and rested my back...i took her hand in mine and kissed it

"Wake up soon, mate...i need you..."

I kept gazing at her lovingly and feel asleep in tht position.

Nupurs Pov

I was sitting beside the lake again..and thinking how my life changed...the guy i always loved has a mate thats not me...how would i live here and see Samrat loving someone else...i looked up and cursed the moon goddess for taking my love away...

I heard a whine and looked up to see a huge male brown wolf...by the looks of it...he had the bloodiness of an alpha...i saw him look at me with a pained expression...

It moved closer towards me and licked my neck in comfort...i felt myself give in...and shed out the tears i had been holding...

After a long hour of crying and telling him my problem i asked him to shift back...he looked hesitant at first but when i pleaded he gave in...

He went behind a bush to shift back and wear his clothes...u see when we wolves shift...we rip our clothes off...and when we shift back in human form we are well um...naked..so we have to carry a extra clothing every time we shift...

The person came out and i was shocked...

It was none other than...

No suspense

Mayank!

I gasped...omg!! the guy i thought was my enemy actually comforted me??

"Why??" i whispered...

Mayank's Pov

It pained for me to see Nupur like that...i heard her crying and telling me how she loved Samrat and how he had found his mate today...i knew she was heart broken but she also understood that she had to let him go...

When i shifted back and came infront of her...i saw her shocked expression...

Why? She asked me

I didn't know what to answer...i just went forward and hugged her...she resisted at first but then i think her wolf told her to give in...

"Mayank...I..."

"Shh...its k Nupur...shh...stop crying"

I ran my fingers through her hair comforting her...I made her sit down on a rock and i sat beside her...

She was staring at the lake with a blank look...

I put my hand under her chin and forced her to look towards me...

"Nupur...look at me"

She looked up and i could see hurt and pain in her eyes...

"Tell me Nupur...did u ever feel ur wolf get excited when Samrat used to come near u?"

She stared at me confused...

"Just answer me...i promise by the end u will feel so much better...so did u feel excited?"

"no" she said softly

"Did u feel so jealous of the girls who used to come close to him...like u would rip their throats off...and torture them for touching whats yours?"

She thought for a while and said..

"No...i used to feel jealous..but not so much...more than jealous i was sad that he wouldn't date me..."

I nodded and continued...

"did his scent drive u utter crazy...like u wanted to do nothing but take him love him and claim him"

"no i didn't feel so strongly"

I asked more such type questions and all her answers were no...finally i said..

"don't u realise Nupur??"

She looked at me with blank look..i sighed

"the questions i asked u were related to how u would feel when ur with ur mate...but all ur answers were no...dont u realise...he was never ur mate...and u never loved him...he made u feel special cause he is ur best friend...wat u felt for him was more than just frndship but way less than love...u bonded with him well...but u never had any love love feeling for him...if u don't believe me..then ask ur wolf...close ur eyes and replay all ur moments with him...then touch ur heart n tell me if am right or not? Try it Nupur...please"

I said the last word with utter desperation...i wanted her to realise her true feelings toward Samrat...she didn't love him..i knew it but she misunderstood her feelings..

I saw her give in...and waited patiently for her reply...all the while holding her hand...

Nupurs Pov

I did as Mayank told me to do...i replayed all the moments with Samrat...then i asked my wolf if she ever loved samrats wolf

"He is my best buddy Nupur...i can never love him in a romantic way"

I asked myself...and realised Mayank was right..

My eyes flew open at the realisation...omg i was about to ruin our friendship!!!

I looked at Mayank with a shocked expression

"Its okay Nupur...dont feel guilty...it was a little misunderstanding...thats it"

"But Mayank...i was about to ruin my frndship?"

"Yes...but now its all resolved.."

"No its not...i have to tell him everything...only then can i explain my behaviour"

"Ur wish..."

"Thanks for comforting and supporting me...i will talk to him and clear the air...thank u so much"

I smiled at him...i got up to leave...but stopped

"Mayank?.."

He looked at me..

"Thank u so much...m really very grateful"

And before i could stop i pecked his lips and ran away...

Mayanks Pov

I stood there shocked for a moment trying to digest the fact she kissed me...i touched my lips and smiled to myself

I was unconditionally in love with my mate...

Scene freezes on

Scene divides into three

One... Samrat holding Gunjan's hand and gazing at her lovingly

Two..Mayank touching his lips and smiling

Three...Nupur in between smiling to herself finally realising her true feelings...

Mates...Soul mates...only they can bring such smile to ur faces...so if u find one..make sure u never let them go...and yes never misunderstand ur feelings regarding ur frnds...it might just ruin ur frndship...Nupur and Samrat's frndship got saved but...u might be not that lucky...
