Just a little update this time
CHAPTER VIII
*IN THE KITCHEN*
Khushi was busy preparing the breakfast for the family.
Arnav watched her with such joy. It had been 2 of the best days of his life. He had been angry for so long with the world, and in just two days he realised that Khushi was the only person to ever take that away from him. She gave him his joy back. He hated being away from her even a second...even anjali had commented on this yesterday.
Arnav walked towards his wife and wrapped his arms around her, causing her to yelp.
"Arnavji i am trying to cook breakfast" she giggled
"i know khushi, i am sorry" he laughed "i shall go and get some files ready for office, i shall be back down in a minute" he grumbled. He turned to walk away when suddely khushi and him became frozen at anjalis voice.
"Shyam i am so glad your home, me and our little princess had missed you" anjali cried form the living area.
Arnav gritted his teeth and looked at khushi...she was scared.
He walked towards her, turned off the cooker and reached for her hand.
"Come on khushi i want to do something and we have to do it now" insisted Arnav
*living area*
"Welcome home brother in law" Arnav said to shyam
Shyam grimaced at Arnav. On the second day of his vacation away from the house he had recieved a call from his accountant. He had smashed his room up when he had heard that arnav had stopped all money going to his and anjalis joint accout. He had vowed then and there that arnav was his next target.
"Hello arnav and khushi" leered shyam "have you missed me?" he laughed
Anjali laughed uaware of the intent behind his last words.
"Um brother in law, i had a phone call yesterday from the accountant to tell me that our allowance was no longer going to be transferred to mine and anjalis account" shyam sneakily brought up.
"choti why did you stop the money" enquired anjali
Naani mieanwhile had been looking at the looks between arnav and shyam, and looked at khushi who was unlike her normal self, and was holding arnavs hand so tighlty for support.
"I am sure arnav has a good reason for it?" questioned Naani
"I am sure this wont bother you tho shyam will it, you are a lawyer after all, and you must see some pretty pennies after all those hours you keep putting him" laughed manorama nervously as she eyed him suspiciously.
"Sorry di, it was something that had to be done" answered arnav gripping khushis hand tighter.
"but why choti" asked anjali
"yes why brother in law" shyam added
Akash took a step forward and looked at the faces of his family before him, he knew he was now involved in this situation.
"Ummm actually i persuaded Arnav to do it" akash said nervously
"akash you? but why" anjali said upset.
"Well after speaking to mother" he turned to nod at manorama "It was decided that because both sisters are now here we needed to put a barrier clause on the money. I know Payal and Khushi understand this. So after talking to the accountant the only way we could do this was put a barrier in place where only money goes to direct members of the family ...not those who have married in" he said.
Naani looked at the family...something is going on here she thought to herself.
"But akash, Shayam has been a member of this family for so long" anjali said
Akash looked at arnav for support
"Di its the ony way we could do it and it has to be applied to all members of the family. After all those that marry in to this family are kept women or in shyams case a kept man" arnav said
"but why did you keep a secret choti" anjali cried out
"dont worry my queen i understand" sneered shyam. He looked round at the family and saw the distrust in their eyes. Even if they all knew what happened two days ago his queen would never get to know...until the time was right.
"no i want to know" cried anajali interrupting his thoughts
"i was going to discuss it with him two days ago but he vanished and i needed to get it sorted" replied Arnav.
"dont worry tho" he added "i know what you ladies are like for shopping so the money is transfered in to your sole bank account anjali so you can buy things for you and the baby" arnav grinned at her.
Anjali still felt displeased with this arrangment, but she looked at her husband for support and realised that her brothers were right, and after all the hours shyam put in, his wages would keep his self.
"Shyam" called Naani, intterupting his seeded thoughts as he stared at arnav.
"yes nanni" shyam smiled.
"seeing as you have neglected your wife and baby for two days, i think you should take your wife shopping today, if you have no work on" naani smiled
"yes husband i would like that, theres still so much to buy for our child" anjali added excited...forgetting there previous conversation.
Naani eyed shyam mysteriously wincing as he looked at anjali with disgust when she mentioned there child
*A little while after Anjali and Shyam left for there shopping trip.
Naani then asked all the family members to sit round the living area.
She looked at each one with confusion.
"Its been a starnge few weeks in this house" she said "Now who to start with?"
Everyone looked at each other nervously...did naani know?
"who is gonna tell me what is going on under my nose that anjali and i are not being told" barked Nanni
"I shall explain Mother in law" announced Manorama
And with that Manorama explained the whole story. Manorama being Manorama added her own dramatics to the story as Nanni sat there in shock looking at everyone to see if this was actually true.
"So now what shall we do mother in law" asked Manorama when she had finished her pantomime styled confession.
Nanni got to her feet " Arnav have you got anything else planned " she asked
Arnav revealed the role Khushi and Payals father had played in this story. As Khushi looked up at him with immense proudness.
"Ok" nodded naani "well untill he is speaking understandable things, we shall have to just sit by" she added
"Nanni i want to take khushi away from this, she has been through so much on her own already" arnav pleaded to Nanni
"No arnav we are a fmaily now and payal and khushi are a big part of our family...and we shall face this as a family" naani said determined.
"Khushi i am sorry we were so harsh on you when you came back married to arnav, Arnav as always went the wrong way about things, but he is so devoted and in love with you that i know he regrets it now. please accept our sorrys for all the harm we have caused you...you are a true daughter of this family...as are you payal" naani smiled feeling tears well up with pride as she looked at her daughter in laws.
Khushi got up and hugged Nanni...she finally felt she belonged.
"so now let us go to the temple and pray for your fathers recovery...because its all on him now" naani sighed.
And with that they all went to the temple, praying for his swift recovery.
