* the living area*
Manorama slumpled on the sofa and glared at the space infront of her. "Hello hi bye bye, this brazien woman turning everyone against me" she muttered. She was lost in devious thoughts of how to tortue her new daughter in law more when the doorbell intterupted her thoughts.
"Hello hi bye bye...theres not even anyone to answer the door" she muttered as she went to answer it.
Just as she opened the door she was nearly knocked off her feet by Lakshmi running towards her. "Lakshmi come back" she shouted, but it was too late he was gone. She took the papers from the delivery boy and made her way back to the sofa.
"Hello hi bye bye now mother in law is going to be so angry with me for losing Lakshmi oh no what should i do"
Manorama was so lost in guilt that she did not realise that the whole scene was been witnessed by non other than Payal herself.
Payals thoughts were intterupted as she heard Naani calling for Lakshmi.
"Manorama have you seen Lakshmi anywhere" Naani asked.
"Well the thing is Mother in law that i ... ummm...well what happened was...ummm it was an accident see...ummm" Manorama stuttered.
"Oh Manorama spit it out what you are trying to say, stop mumbling" Naani shouted.
Manorama stood glued to the spot chewing on her nails nervously "Hello hi bye bye mother law is looking a bit red in the face" she muttered to herself.
"Naani" shouted Payal
"Yes Payal" naani replied not taking her eyes from Manorama
"Naani please forgive me i have made a huge mistake i went to collect the newspapers and left the door ajar whilst i was getting them and Lakshmi ran straight past me and out the door...i am so sorry Naani please forgive me, i shall look for him straight away" cried Payal.
Naani looked at a shocked Manorama to a crying Payal, she understood exactly what had gone on now. Poor sweet Payal she said to herself trying to win Manoramas affections by covering for her.
"Very well dear Payal, please find him soon for me" Naani replied sternly.
With that Naani walked way leaving a shocked Manorama staring at Payal.
"Excuse me Mother in law, i must go search for Lakshmi" weeped Payal. She turned and headed out the door, leaving Manorama rooted to the spot with shock.
"Hello hi bye bye, why ever did payal lie, i wonder what she is up to.. Its good that mother in law didnt scold me again but i am sure Payal has some evil plan up her sari" With this thought she hurried to her room.
It was nearly half an hour later when Payal walked through the door with Lakshmi.
"Payal your found him, where had he got to" cried Naani with joy as she picked Lakshmi up and cuddled him.
"I am very sorry naani for letting him escape, luckily he was just out in the garden hiding under some bushes and grazing on the grass" replied Payal.
"Very well Payal you may go now" Naani replied.
*Manorama's room*
"Mother in law" called Payal
Manorama turned surprised at her daughter in law.
"what do you want?" she rudely replied
"I have brought you some of your favourite sweets mother in law" Payal replied
"Just put them over there i shall eat them later" Manorama said.
With that Payal left the room. Leaving Manorama to ponder her thoughts about her new daughter in law.
"Its not that i dont like her its the status she belongs to" she thought to herself.
She was about to go downstairs when she saw her son and Payal engaged in conversation. She stood there for a while observing them. She had to admit it Akash did seem very happy. She herself had married Manohar for money but had grown to love him so dearly over the years. She hated to admit these thngs to herself and she would never amdit it to anyone in this household, but she was glad her son had married for love. "Akash has been taking Payals side a lot lately its so unlike him" she muttered to herself. "i shall just have to try and get along with her for Akash's sake and if Payal messes up in the meantime no one came blame me...Manorama you are exceeding your own evil expectations" she laughed.
Payal looked round suddenly at the sound of her mother in law laughing. "Mother in law are you ok" she asked with concern.
Manorama had not realised that she had laughed so loud" "Ummm yes i was just...ummm Payal leave Akash now i need to speak to you" she replied.
Payal walked in to Manoramas room full of dread " oh dear what impossible task does she want me to perform now" she thought to herself.
Manorama sensed Payals fear and smiled to herself.
"Payal come and sit beside me" she asked.
Payal did as she asked still uneasy.
"have i done something more to upset you mother in law?" Payal asked.
"No dear in fact the opposite i wanted to clean the slate with us. You understand. I didnt get in trouble with mother in law for Lakshmi because of you so i wanted to start a fresh slate with you if that is ok" she said
Payal nodded happily crying at her mother in law.
"However this does not mean i like you any more we still have a long way to go before that" Manorama quickly interjected.
"Thank you so much Mother in law" replied Payal and left the room.
*At the dining table*
Everyone was shocked to hear Manorama announce that she had finally accepted Payal into the family. Naani smiled to herself knowing exactly what Payal had done. "I am dissapointed in you Manorama that it has taken you this long to see what a dear wonderful person Payal is, and what an asset to the family she has become, but nether-the less i am pleased that you finally got there. I hope you can also accept khushi in the same way you have accepted her sister" Naani asked.
"Hello hi bye bye accept torn sari..." She started to say untill she felt the glare of arnav burn her from across the table.
"Of course mother in law" she said through gritted teeth.
*Many days went past in the RM household, with Manorama and Payal spending more time together and getting to know one another. Manorama had to admit to herself that Payal wasnt too bad and Manorama herself was the envy of all her friends that she had such an elegant and beautiful daughter in law. She didnt suppose Payal appreciated the shopping trips or the social functions she took her too, but she never complained and Manorama had to admire her for this.*
*Manoramas room*
Manorama was busy applying oils to her face and Payal was busy stitching. They were both serene untill they heard loud shouting coming from downstairs.
They both rushed to the top of the stairs just in time to see see Khushi slap Shyam across the face, she pushed him with all her mite and screamed at him " Why do you keep doing this Mr Shyam...i told you before leave me alone, i dont want you anywhere near me, you disgust me. You keep torturing yourself by trying to convince yourself i have any feeling for you. I hate you, if it wasnt for my love of Arnav and Anjali i would of exposed you long ago" she screamed.
"Oh kushi dont fool yourself, after all it was you who told me on Holi that Arnav forced marriage upon you to save Payals wedding" Shyam sneered.
As he said this both Payal and Manorama gasped holding there hands to their mouths.
Manorama looked at Payal and dragged her forcefully by the wrists to her room.
"I suggest you tell me whats going on daughter in law" sneered Manorama.
Payal sunk on the bed crying as she told her mother in law the whole story of how they knew Shyam.
Manorama sat on the bed next to payal, overwhelmed by what she had heard. She looked at Payal as much as she wanted it to be her fault she realised that Payal and Khushi were very much like her niece Anjali. She loved Anjali like a daughter and would do anything for her. Just as Payal and Khushi had tried to protect Anjali.
"Oh no what has Khushi done" sobbed Payal
"I need to set this right for her" she cried.
"Payal we shall set this right for khushi but first we need to expose and gather evidence on that snake boy Shyam" replied Manorama.
"Dont tell anyone of our plans tho Payal...Manorama bond shall take care of this...
