Arnav stayed perfectly still...

Praying that God would bring her back. . .

He held her hand up and put placed his lips on her lifeless pulsepoint...if she didn't make it he would die...whether his heart stopped or not, he would die right along with her...

Arnav braced himself as they started trying to bring Khushi back to life...

His heart hammered in his chest...

Arnav whispered, her hand still against his lips... "Khushi, i know you can hear me...wake up...please...i have no life without you...please come back to me..."

He heard all the doctors talking around him...

"1st try unsuccessful."

"Prepare to try once more..."

Arnav, now squeezing her hand, his voice breaking through rasping sobs..."Khushi...don't go...please..."

The second he said that he felt a slight twitch against his lips...electricity shot through him...

The heart monitor beeped once and shut down again...

"We had her for a second but we've lost her again...prepare 3rd attempt!"

Arnav's angst returned and he released her hand and leaned over her, holding her face in his hands...speaking firmly, "Khushi..! This is your husband speaking to you! Don't you DARE give up! Please Khushi! Wake up! Please! Khushi!"

His tears splattered her face as the doctors kept trying...

This had been going on for 2 minutes...yet it felt like eternity...Arnav was getting desperate for some, ANY reaction! Any fleeting hope he had soon disappeared!

Finally Arnav heard things around him go quiet...he looked up, his heart in turmoil...he stared into the sad faces of the doctors...

He started shaking his head..."no..."

"I'm sorry Mr. Raizada..."

"n..n..no..."

"We tried everything we could..."

Arnav now past rage and fear just broke down...he threw himself on her...harshly weeping..."No...No...Khushi...No!!!!!"

Arnav grabbed her by the shoulders and yanked her up against him...one hand behind her head, another round her back...he pressed his forehead against hers...he screamed in despair feeling her limp body sag in his arms...

He angled his head and kissed her...firmly yet briefly..."I'm sorry, i'm sorry it not enough...I wanted to give you so much...i wanted to love you...i'm a bloody fool...Khushi...I WANTED you as my wife...I wanted to tell you all this...and now..."...his mind reminded him..."I never even told her that i love her..." he let out a gutteral moan...laying her back against the bed he stood up...his eyes now engorging with brutal rage...he knew who was responsible for this...and that person was going to pay...a life for a life...he took one last look at the love of his life saying, "I am in love with you Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada!" and he bolted from the room, ready to avenge his wife.

He ran out so fast that he failed to hear the heart monitor start to beep again...
