I came out of the Airport and called a taxi, gave the address to the driver and sat in. None of my family members know that I am coming back. I want to surprise them and see the smile on their faces. Its 6:30 AM now. Papa, uncle, bhaiya and bhabhi won't be in home now, they will be on their jogging. Mama and aunty will be home.
I paid for the taxi saying thanks to the driver and got out the car. I stood outside the gate admiring the houses inside, no bungalows will be the apt word. Yes, bungalows. There are two bungalows inside. One, in which mama, papa, bhaiya and bhabhi are living and the other one where uncle and aunty are living. After Bhaiya and bhabhi's marriage everyone became very close to each other and decided to live together. So, these two bungalows were built about two years ago. There is not any wall in between the bungalows. That's how close and important we are to each other. I always pray and hope it will be the same forever.
I opened the gate and went in and saw the door open. I entered inside without making any noise and saw mama in the kitchen instructing John uncle.He is working in our family for the past 15 years, i would say he is also a member in the family. He saw me as he was facing the door of the kitchen. He was about to open his mouth when I signalled him not to. I went near mama and closed her eyes from behind. "Who is this?" Mama shouted. I didn't say anything. "Is that u Riddhima?" My hands automatically went down hearing her harsh tone. It meant one thing, mama is still the same. All those loving words she said and the happiness when I said I am coming back were fake. I came out of my thoughts when I heard mama shouting again. "Are u out of your mind? You scared me idiot. Even after all these years, u didn't seem to understand i don't like u". Tears started to well up in my eyes hearing her words. She walked out of the kitchen. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see aunty standing there. I quickly wiped my tears and smiled at her. She hugged me. Don't cry Riddhi, everything will be fine, she said caressing my hair and asked, how r u beta? Why you didn't inform us you are coming back today? I separated from her and answered, "I am fine aunty. I wanted to surprise all of u, that's why I didn't inform you". She smiled at me and said, "I am happy you are back and others will be happy too". I smiled at her. We heard bhabhi's voice coming from the living room and aunty wiped my tears and we went out.
Bhaiya saw me and rubbed his eyes and looked at me again as if confirming he is not dreaming. He came to me and embraced me in a tight hug, "How are u Princess? When did u come back? Why you didn't tell me you are coming today? I missed you sooo much. I am sooo happy to see you". I came out of the hug and said smiling at him, "I will answer your questions one by one bhaiya, I am fine, i just came a few minutes ago, I wanted to surprise you and see this happy smile on your face, that's why I didn't inform you and I missed all of you too". He smiled and kissed my forehead. Bhabhi came to us and said, "Move away Atul, I want to hug my ridz too" and pushed him aside. We hugged each other tight and heard bhaiya whining, "hey, that's not fair, you girls are so mean" we separated to see him pouting and giggled and hugged each other again. I felt something wet on my shoulders, i came out of the hug and wiped bhabhi's tears, she looked at aunty and i understood aunty told her everything which happened in the kitchen. She kissed my cheeks and said, "everything will be fine soon ridz, i will make sure of it, you don't worry", i smiled and nodded. Uncle was smiling looking at us. He came near me and embraced me in a fatherly hug. I looked around to see papa not there and understood, like mama, papa is also the same still now. Fresh tears came out of my eyes thinking of it and uncle wiped it away. "Come Ridz, i will show your room, you take a shower. I will prepare breakfast for you and we all will eat together today", bhabhi said. I nodded and followed her.
Bhabhi led me upstairs and stopped in front of a white door there and asked me to open it. I was awestruck when I saw the room. It was a master bedroom painted in red and white. There were small vases with fresh flowers. A music system, beside which was a small glass cupboard to keep the CDs. The bed was covered with white satin sheets, red and white pillows and multi coloured cushions. There were two bean bags and a small oval shaped table in front of it. I opened the balcony door and was welcomed with the soft melodious music of the wind chimes. There was a small swing in which two people can sit. I could see the garden from the balcony, it looked so beautiful with the fresh morning flowers. This is so beautiful bhabhi, I love it. The room is just the way I wanted it to be, simply beautiful, I said and asked her, "but how did u know all this, I mean about my dream room?" She smiled and answered, "your bhaiya did all these, he knows u well. Did u saw another door inside the room?" she asked me. I said "Yes, that's the bathroom". No, there is more to it, she said and pulled me into the room. Bhabhi opened the door which was on a side of the room and there were doors again, on the left and right sides. The right door was the bathroom and the left one was the dressing room with a walk-in wardrobe attached to it. "Ridz, this walk-in wardrobe idea is mine, it's my gift to you. Do you like it?" she asked excitedly. "It's awesome bhabhi, i like it" i said which made her smile wide.
I am happy u love it princess. I heard bhaiya saying coming in. I went up to him and hugged him. Bhabhi joined us in the hug. We stayed like that for a few seconds. "For your information, I am here too. Bhaiya leave bhabhi, she is not going anywhere, go and romance in your room". I teased when I came out of the hug and bhabhi was still in his arms. Both of them blushed hearing me. I am hungry princess, freshen up and come down soon, bhaiya said. "I saw u both blushing, no need to cover up", I teased them again. Bhabhi started to chase me, we ran around the room and i stopped behind bhaiya who was laughing at us and he said, "enough u two, i am really hungry and the others will be waiting too, come down soon princess". Okay, I will come down quickly, i said. He started to walk out but turned again and said, I am sorry for mama's behaviour riddhi, she' i interfered him before he can continue, that's ok bhaiya, i know her. It's my fault, she got angry because I scared her. Smiling, he caressed my head and left the room with bhabhi. I locked the door after they left and sat in the bed. Tears started to well up in my eyes thinking of mama and papa's behaviour and the harsh reality of my life, they didn't accept me yet. I controlled myself before breaking down and went to have a shower. I came out wearing a simple blue salwar suit, and went down to see everyone seated in the dining table except mama and papa. I went up to them and asked, where are mama and papa? "They have some important work beta, so they ate their breakfast and left. Come on, let's eat", aunty said. I understood they are avoiding me and blinked back the tears before they come out and took a bowl from the table.
Anj: What are you doing? Are you going to eat a full bowl?
Ri: No, I am going to serve the food today.
Anj: No ridz, you must be hungry, sit and eat, I will do it.
Ri: Please bhabhi, I want to serve the food.
She said making a puppy face.
An: Let her do Anjali
Anj: ok
She smiled wide and started to serve the food. After serving, she sat in her chair and ate a piece of the aloo paratha.
Ri: It's delicious bhabhi, i never knew you cook so well.
Anj: I made it specially for you.
Ri: Specially for me? Thank you bhabhi.
Anj: Don't thank me ridz, if you say it again I am not going to talk to you.
Ri: Okay, I won't say it again. hmm... now I know one of the reasons why bhaiya loves you soo much, your cooking. Am I right bhaiya?
At: Yes
He said and winked at Anjali. Riddhima, Billy and Ananya saw it and they said together, "we are here too". The couple was embarrassed. The trio kept on teasing the couple throughout the breakfast and enjoyed watching them embarrassed and going redder blushing. After breakfast they went to the other bungalow were billy and ananya are living. The bungalow was a little different from the other. They all sat in the living room talking, when ananya said
An: Ridddhima, you go and rest for a while beta. You must be tired after the flight.
At: Yes Princess, you take some rest, me, Anjali and dad will go to the office. Mom will be here with you.
Ri: I will go after you go to the office.
After a while the trio got ready and came down. She hugged and waved bye to them and went to her room.
I twisted and turned in my bed not able to sleep. I got up from the bed, switched off the A/C and opened one of the windows in the room to get some fresh air. When i opened the window i saw a room opposite mine. One look at it and I knew it is his room. I was clearly able to see half of the room. He too can see half of my room if my room's window is open. The more I am thinking of staying away from him, the more it is getting difficult for me. I sighed and closed the window and decided not to open it again. I wanted coffee and went to the kitchen to prepare it. John uncle said he will make it, but I refused him politely and prepared it myself. I came and sat in the swing in the balcony, sipping my black coffee. I looked around and saw the other balcony on my left side, his room's balcony. I got down from the swing when I noticed something and went to have a closer look at it. There was a door in the side wall, it's almost invisible as it was painted in the same colour of the wall. I opened it and saw that it was connected to a same door like this in his balcony. Why me always? I sighed looking at it, closing the door i came and sat in the swing again. My thoughts drifted to the first time I met him. The beginning of the most beautiful days in my life.
I went to a shopping mall and entered into the lift to go to the 6th floor. The lift was about to close when he came in. The first thing I noticed in him was his blue eyes. The most beautiful eyes I ever saw in my life. He came and stood beside me. For some unknown reason my heart started to beat fast. I came out of the lift when it stopped on the 6th floor and saw he was coming out too. I entered in a shop and started doing my shopping. The vision of his blue eyes kept on playing in my heart and mind. "Excuse me", I heard someone behind me and turned to look at the person. It was him. "Hi, I came here to buy a birthday gift. I looked at some accessories here but couldn't come to a decision which one to buy. Can you please help me to find a gift?" He asked with his dimpled smile, which made my heart skip a beat. I couldn't say no to him, i nodded. I started to look at the sets there asking him, "how do you want it simple or '" he interfered before i could finish my question. Simple, she likes it simple and one more thing, price is not a problem, he said and I nodded. After a few minutes i showed him a beautiful flower designed platinum set with very small diamonds studded in it. "She will love this", he said looking at the set. The happiness in his eyes and voice said the girl is very important to him. "Thank you so much for helping me", he said smiling. You are welcome, i said smiling at him. He moved to the bill counter to pay for the set. I stood there watching him. When he turned around, i quickly looked at the other side. He came to me and said, "Once again thanks for helping me. I am Armaan and you are'" he was interrupted by the ring of his phone. He looked at the caller and said "Sorry I need to go now, will see you later" and almost ran out of the shop. I looked at his retreating back smiling to myself.
I smiled remembering the beautiful memories. But that was the past. Reality is different now. I always wanted to ask him why he did this to me? What wrong did i do? and when I am going to meet him in a few days now, i don't know if i will be able question him. Just the mere thought of meeting him, him coming back into my life again makes me shiver and makes my heart beat rapidly. I loved him and he loved me too. Even though we knew each for a short time, the love and bond which we shared is something very special, which I will cherish for my lifetime.
When he left me, he took my heart, my trust, my innocence, my happiness he took everything with him. But he left the thing which hurts the most...Memories. Beautiful memories which are the only thing I have with me now, which he gave me. It makes me smile and makes me cry my heart out. It gives me pain, which increases every minute of my existence. At the same time, it didn't weaken me, in fact it made me stronger. He always said i should be strong and face the problems of life. He was my strength and support. I never dared to allow anyone come closer to me except bhaiya. But I allowed him, i knew he was breaking the invisible wall I built around myself. I couldn't stop him. How can i when I loved him? He completed me, gave me a new reason to live. He became the reason of my smile, my happiness. He loved me for who I am. In a very short span of time he became a part of me. Now i am incomplete without him, my life is incomplete without him.
