Chapter- 11
Next 2-3 months were busy for everyone……..Angad got busy in his work and was promoted due to good performance…….Prithvi was well settled with the job, Mahi and Shabd with their college…….Kripa in her classes…….Kripa had more than 70 students now and was looking for the new location to start her own classes as it was difficult to get the time slots in the temple which kids wanted……Mahi and Shabd met everyday after college and after a few days, started coming together, if they both finished the lectures at the same time…….They met in library some times and studied together…….Mahi started getting very much involved in her studies as usual……She had got the scholarship as well……So, there was not much problem for her……..Gauri was in 5th month of her pregnancy and doing good as usual……..
S: Mahi….tum chal rahi ho? He asked frowning at her…..It was around 7 in the evening and they have been studying for long time…….That's it….I am leaving……Shabd said picking his books…..Mahi gave him a dirty look…….What…..you are not ready to leave……But I am……!! Aur kitna intazar karun?
M: Ok….Sorry……..I need a lift……I am coming……I will check out this book and we can go…….she said getting up, with a sigh……
They slowly walked out of the college, to the parking lot……..
M: Shabd, ghar chalo…….khana khane…..
S: No….thanks…..Mein kuch kha lunga raste mein……..
M: Shabd, why are you so formal…….I promise, no one is going to hang you at my house…….Itne din se hum friends hai, par tum aab tak mere ghar nahi aye…..she said frowning…….
S: aisi koi baat nahi hai Mahi…..I just don't want to bother your family……..
Mahi rolled her eyes…….
M: Mein kuch nahi sunana chahti……you are coming and that's it…….she said angrily…….Shabd sighed and at last nodded………Mahi grinned…….They reached her house and she asked him to come in…..Kripa was busy helping her mom, while Gauri putting plates on the table………
K: Are Shabd…..aao…..Kripa said with a smile……
G: Kaise ho beta…..padhai kaise chal rahi hai……? She asked with a smile….
S: Bas aunty achi chal rahi hai…….
M: Mom, mein aaj jabardasti ghar le ayi, khana khane…..Nahi to ye phir se sandwich lekar ghar jane ka soch raha tha……
Gayatri smiled at Shabd…..
S: Beta, yahan aa jaya karo……vaise bhi Mahi ko chodne to kitni baar ate ho…..Suryabhan said coming down…..
S: Woh uncle….I don't want to disturb you all…..He said a little hesitatingly…..
S: Are issme disturb karne ki kya baat hai……Tum bhi humare liye bte jaise hi ho…..Mahi ka bhi khayal rakhte ho…..ghar le ate ho…...Tum uske dost bankar usse madad karte ho…..to doston ke liye kuch karna takleef thodi na hoti hai…..Hume to tab bura lagega, agar tum isse takleef kaho……Bejhijhak aya karo…..He said patting his back…..
Mahi grinned at him….
M: Shabd tum baitho….mein abhi ayi….she said smiling…….Kripa bought some water for him and he thanked her with a smile…….
K: Bahot din ho gaye, mandir mein nahi dikhe Shabd?
S: Woh padhai mein busy ho gaya tha…….he said grinning……
G: Prithvi ko bhi aye bahot din ho gaye……Gauri said arranging the table…..
K: Haan bhabhi….par mandir mein reharsals ke liye aa raha hai….she said smiling……
G: Gauri beta….ab bahot ho gaya….chal baith….bahot kaam kar liya…..she said pushing her down on the chair…..Gauri chuckled at Gayatri……..
G: Ma….mein thik hun……She said hugging her……
G: Pata hai, par aaram kar le……tab se pairon par khadi hai….Kripa beta, tub hi baith ja, subah se sham tak busy rehti hai……aur ghar akar phir se shuru ho jati hai…..pair nahi thakte…..Kripa grinned at Gauri who smiled at her…..
K: Ma….saab ki chinta chodo…..Tum baitho…..tum bhi to kaam karti ho…….Surya and Shabd smiled looking at them and coming in the dinning……
S: Gayatri…..aab ho gaya na….saab baitho aur khana shuru karo……Pratham kahan reh gaya……
G: Papa, mein bulati hun……Surya kept a hand on her arm and asked her to sit down…..
Kripa got up immediately and ran up to call both Mahi and Pratham, before her dad could stop her……Gayatri frowned at her daughter but sat down……
G: Yeh Kripa ke pairon mein to spring hai……Shabd chukled….
S: Uss din function mein bhi saab yahi keh rahe the aunty……
Gayatri and Surya smiled…..
Kripa came and sat with them all and Shabd smiled at her…..
S: Classes kaise chal rahe hain…..
K: You won't believe it, but I have more than 70 kids now…….she said grinning….
S: Vow…..kaise manage karti ho…..
Kripa just shrugged……Gauri chuckled…..
G: Yeh bachon ke sath bachi ho jati hai…..bachon ko aur kya chahiye…..Kripa grinned at her…..Surya kept a hand on her shoulder and smiled at Kripa……Mahi joined them soon…..
M: Mom….jaldi do na….bahot bhook lagi hai….Kripa got up and served her plate…..as she started eating what ever Kripa served….Kripa chuckled…..
K: Mahi…..ruk….parosne to de……she said shaking her head…….
Mahi rolled her eyes but continued eating…….Pratham too came and Kripa started serving him when he stopped her…..
P: Mein le lunga…..tu bhi to bhuki hogi…..chal baithkar khana kha…..he said frowning at her….Kripa smiled and sat down…..Hi Shabd….Kaise ho….bahot dinon ke baad….
S: Haan woh college mein busy ho gaya tha…..How have you been? He asked politely….
P: Good….wonderful….he said sitting besides Gauri and grinning at her…..She smiled at him rolling her eyes, when he took spoon and fed her…..Shabd looked at them all and sighed…..This was the type of family he always dreamed about…….He smiled at them all and sadly started eating…..He was eating home cooked meal after one whole month and it was a bliss…..he missed it so much…….Though his mom dad did not have time, they had always provided him with good food….He thanked the god for atleast that…….But he missed this type of closeness with them…….
K: Shabd...khao na….Kya soch rahe ho? Kripa asked looking at him…..Shabd smiled and started eating, coming out of his thoughts…..
M: Apna burger miss kar raha hai shayad…..Mahi said chuckling…..
P: Really? He asked frowning…..
S: Shabd chuckled,…..Nahi…..ghar ka khana miss kar raha tha…..bahot dinon ke baad ghar ka khana kha raha hun na, to mom dad ki yaad aa gayi…..he said smiling……Everybody stopped eating and looked at him……..They knew about Shabd and felt bad for him…..But life doesn't stop….It goes on…..
G: Isse….apna hi ghar samjho beta…….Mahi ke sath jab bhi ana chaho aa jao……Hume khushi hogi……she said smiling……..
S: Bilkul thik kaha Gayatri……..he said smiling at Shabd…..He just nodded at them with a smile and started eating, though he felt a little uncomfortable…..Kripa could feel his uneasiness……But kept quite………She had seen him, many times looking at them all longingly…..She knew he missed being in a family…..
Mahi was the first to finish her food and sighed with satisfaction…..
M: Dekha…..Itni baar tumhe bulaya, par tumne mana kar diya…..next time se do baar sochna ki tum kya miss karoge, agar yahan khana khane nahi aye to…..she said chuckling……Everybody chuckled at them finishing their dinner…….
Once the dinner was over, Shabd said thanks to Gayatri and Surya for having him……Kripa went with him out side wanting to talk to him……..
K: Shabd….ek min….Shabd looked at her….Mujhe pata hai, ki tum apne mom dad ko bahot miss karte ho….family life miss karte ho……Shabd kept quite and just smiled at her…….Unki jagah to koi nahi le sakta, par please, hume bhi apna samjh kar aa jaya karo…...hum sabko acha lagega…….she said smiling at him……..
S: Thanks Kripa…..he said nodding and slowly walked towards his car…..He waved at her, as he drove away…..Kripa kept looking at him and when he was out of sight, she slowly walked in with a sigh…..Mahi had already gone to her room…..Kripa helped her mom to clean up and then sat with everyone talking……..
After that day, Shabd came many times with Mahi to Surya's house and had dinner with them……Some times, Kripa would call him on the weekends as well, if he was free…….
Shabd was at Dilip's house with Prithvi one afternoon, when Naina asked him, why he was not coming home like before……….
P: Mom…..Aaj kal ye apne neighbour ke ghar bahot ate jate hain……humare sath waqt bitane ka time kahan milega…..he said grinning…..why friend, am I right or am I right…..he said chuckling…..
Shabd chuckled…..
S: Aisi koi baat nahi aunty…..bas woh Mahi piche badi rehti hai issiliye…….Sham ko usse ghar chodta hun, to andar chalne ki zid karti hain…..he said smiling…….
D: Koi baat nahi beta……How is your studies going on…..? If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask….
S: Sure Uncle…..Angad aaj kal dikhai nahi deta? He asked looking at Prithvi…..
D: You know how career concious he is….and with the huge responsibility to take over the east coast projects, he got too busy to even eat at home…..he said sighing……..
N: Shabd Diwali function mein aa rahe ho na……
S: How can I miss it aunty……? He asked grinning…….
P: Haan, mera gana to yeh zabardasti sunta tha……par aab Kripa ga rahi hai aur iss baar to perform bhi kar rahi hai to, ye kyun nahi ayega……….he said chuckling……
S: I would not miss her performance for the world……
P: Next time se ticket lagana padega…...
S: Even if you keep a 1000 $ ticket I would not miss it……Prithvi raised his eyebrow and Dilip and Naina chuckled…….
P: Hmmm….I should think about it…..Next time may be…..Temple might receive a huge donation and Kripa can start performing stage shows…….and even her students could show their talents…….he said thinking about it…..
Soon, Shabd was gone……Naina and Dilip too went out for some work……Prithvi, thought about the idea about Kripa's shows and grinned…..He went to the backyard, when he found Kripa planting some trees in the backyard of her house…….He walked to her, and reached within couple of minutes……
P: Hi…..Kripa……..
K: Kripa looked up with eyebrows up…….
P: What? Mahi never does gardening….he said grinning…..Kripa smiled…..
K: Kaise ho Prithvi……Aliyah ka abhi phone aya tha…..aaj sham reharsals ke liye bula rahi thi…..
P: I know….got the call too…..Par abhi mujhe ek idea aya….Kripa raised her eyebrows getting up…..Mein soch raha tha, ki agar ye program successful raha….to kyun na tum stage shows chalu kar do…..You can ask your students to perform also….may be every 3-4 months…..Temple ko bhi iska donation mil jayega….and you can also be a big hit…….Kripa looked at him surprised…..
K: I don't know Prithvi…..Par….who would be willing to pay for these shows…..I am not even famous……Prithvi rolled his eyes…..
P: Hello…..tumhara ek fan to tumhare ghar ke ass paas hi bhatakta hai…….1000$ dene ke liye bhi taiyar hai…..tumhara show dekhne…..Kripa looked at him frowning…..Don't underestimate your self Kripa……
Kripa blushed at that……….and Prithvi chuckled…..
K: Kis ki baat kar rahe ho?
P: Shabd…..Kripa laughed….
K: Woh to bas ussne aise hi keh diya hoga……Daar gaya hoga, ki agar meri burai karega, to ghar ka khana miss hoga……tell him not to worry…..he will be welcome even if he doesn't praise me………she said chuckling….Prithvi smiled…..
P: Ok….challlenge…….After the diwali show, if the people get crazy and say you are the best, then you will do the show……manjur hai….Kripa rolled her eyes and smiled…….Waise bhi iss bar, tum 2 shows aur ek gana aur ek traditional dance kar rahi ho…..You it covers your talent…..what do you say…..
S: Bilkul beta……she is up to challenge…..Surya said putting a hand on Kripa……Kripa looked up surprised…..
K: Papa…!!
S: Kya…..meri beti ko koi challenge kar raha hai, aur woh uska mukabala nahi karegi…..meri ijjat ka to khayal karo…..Itna sikhaya……usska kuch to shreya milna chahiye…..tum famous ho gayi to meri bhi to tareef hogi…..Log kahenge, woh dekho, Kripa ke papa aa rahe hain……he said smiling and holding her shoulders……..Prithvi chuckled…..
Kripa looked up at her dad and he nodded………She looked at Prithvi and smiled with a nod…….
K: Aab to challenge accept karna hi padega Prithvi……mere papa ke liye…..she said hugging him…..Prithvi smiled at them…..
Gayatri sighed from behind with satisfaction…..
G: Prithvi, dadi ayi?
P: Nahi aunty……par function tak jaroor aa jayegi……Kripa ke performance ke bare mein suna, to tickets pre pone kar diya unhone……Gayatri smiled, while Kripa blushed……
S: Aao beta andar aao……Kripa tumhara kaam hua ki nahi…..
K: Nahi papa, aap log jaiye…..mein baad mein ati hun…..Prithvi smiled and went in with them…..while Kripa kept working…….She had done a lot of work over the period of 2 months…..did the edging, planted many plants, which have started to bloom……She was particularly fond of roses and had bought many with the income she had earned and filled both the sides with them…….Every week she had bought atleast 6-7 plants of roses with some or others help and planted them herself or with Pratham's help.…….She had almost all the colors available in the shop and Gayatri and Gauri were just amazed to see them blooming…….She would sing, watering them and cared for them like a child….Within 3-4 months, the garden looked quite good, than it was before with flowers blooming…….
Angad on the other side became quite busy with his work…….He stayed at office till late evenings……..But today, he finished his work soon and was home, tired to his bone…….He took his coffee and sat on the deck as no one was at home…...He was about to go in, when he heard Kripa's voice…..and stopped in his tracks…..It was a long time, since he heard her…….He kept his cup on the table and walked down and looked at her……..and there she was smiling and singing walking with a flower in her hand, looking at it…….She was wearing a dark red color chudidar with long earings………
Kripa on the other side, was busy in her work…….She kept thinking about Prithvi's challenge……..Could she do it…..Could she do the show all by herself….May be she should ask him to join in one…..They made a good team…….She looked at the roses with a smile……..Beautiful she tought looking at the flower………

P: No doubt about it bro……what are you doing here by the way…..? He said grinning…..

P: Aunty ke haath ke garam garam pakode, aur Kripa ke hath ke ladoo kha raha tha……want some….?
Angad shook his head…..
Prithvi shrugged….your loss……Waise Kripa…..you are a amazing cook…..aur Aliyah aur Josh bhi aa rahe hai…..mein yahi kehne aya tha……ki tum taiyar ho jao, tumhare show ka idea bhi bataya…..they are really excited and told that they will help you with it…….he said grinning……..
K: Prithvi……Pehle challenge jeetne do……phir baki ka sochna…..she said shaking her head…..
P: Man….you really underestimate your self……I promise Kripa……iss function ke baad, people will be crazy enough to pay 1000 dollars too for seeing your perform……
Kripa sighed…..And shrugged…..She looked at Angad…..
K: Andar aiye na…..she said smiling……Angad smiled and nodded…..Prithvi lifted his eye brows but then shrugged and went in……..
Kripa and Angad walked in and they saw everyone sitting and having snacks……Even Shabd was here…..Angad looked at them all surprised……
S: Hi Angad…..Angad waved at him and then smiled at Pratham and Surya who looked at him surprised…..This was the first time he came to their house…..
P: Hey Angad…..How are you?
A: Good…..Sorry…..i hope I am not disturbing you all…..mein to bas yunhi, Kripa ko gardening karte dekha to dekhne aa gaya……
S: Nahi beta…..hum bhi aise hi relax kar rahe the……
K: Hi shabd…..tum kab aye…..
P: Humare ghar se nikla aur yahan aa gaya……he said grinning…..Mujhe batata to mein bhi tere sath tabhi aa jata……khud akele akele aunty ke pakode chat kar raha hai…..Shabd chuckled……
S: Bahot pehle aya tha…..tumhara gana aur khana dono enjoy kar raha tha…..he said chuckling to Kripa…..Kripa blushed…..
M: Waise Kripa, Prithvi is a genius…….You should do the shows……I am sure, you will be a rock star soon……Kripa rolled her eyes…..she went and washed her hands in the kitchen…..
K: Aap baithiye bhabhi mein bana deti hun……she said going to her……as she was frying……..
G: Kripa abhi to bahar kaam karke ayi ho, thodi der aram karo…..phir se jana hai reharsals ke liye…..
K: Mein thik hun bhabhi….she said taking over…..how could she say that she was nervous to be in front of Angad…..The last time they were, it was at Aliyah's birthday……they had not even met after that, but she was more conscious of him…….
Surya: Angad, tumhara kaam kaise chalu hai….congrats….Papa ne bataya ki tumhe Mr. Bhatia ne pura east coast ke projects hand over kiye hain…..Angad smiled…….
A: Ji….thanks…..Aap unhe jante hain? He asked a little surprised……Surya smiled a little and then looked at Kripa…….
Surya: Hmmm….Kripa ko unhone phone kiya tha do din pehle……Woh uske program ke liye sponsorship karne ke liye taiyar hai……..Kripa and all the others in the room looked at him surprised………
Gayatri looked at him with a frown………Aap ne bataya nahi? She asked surprised…….Even Angad was amazed……..
Surya: Mein unse Diwali ke function par baat karna chahta tha, phir tum logon ko batana chahata tha…..par aaj jab Prithvi ne show ki baat ki, to soch raha hun ki jab itne log Kripa ke piche pade hain, to usse yeh karna chahiye…..
M: Yes Papa….I totally agree…….she said grinning and jumping……she ran to Kripa and hugged her tightly……Hoo…..My Rock Star Sis…….she said chuckling…..
K: Mahi…..she said stopping her…….Gauri and Pratham too grinned at her…….Angad was looking at her with surprise……..
M: You know sis, in today's world, carreer is very important and what better to do than what you enjoy…….You have talent and you have got support……..So, why not take a chance………You will be surprised……..!
Shabd: Haan Kripa…….Ye baat bilkul thik kahi Mahi ne………Itna acha talent hai, you enjoy it, then why not give it a try……..? Kripa just smiled shyly and nodded……..
Josh and Aliyah were in soon and Josh was surprised to see Angad…….He had come many times, but never saw Angad till now…..And Angad was amazed as to how much comfortable everyone was here…..He alone felt a little outsider amongst them all and he frowned at the thought……
J: Hi….Kripa…..Mahi……He said grinning at them…..Both just smiled at him and waved…….
Al: Kripa…..chalo jaldi chalo……Ek hafte baki hai sirf……and we are still so behind…..Prithvi…..tumhari wajah se saab late ho raha hai…..She said frowning…..
Prithvi: Sorry guys….par I can't take leave….any way…..kal aur parson, pura din hai humare paas…..and not to mention today…..Mahi….tum bhi chalo…..
M: No…..mein aur Shabd library ja rahe hain…..we have to finish some work…..Tum log saab jao…..
Shabd: Mahi,…..why don't we give it a miss and go with them……He said not wanting to go to college…..
M: Shabd, do din mein project submit karni hai…..tumhara bhi to adhura hai…..she said frowning……Next week direct show par hi ja sakte hain…..atleast we will be in for a surprise…..Shabd sighed and nodded…….
Gauri frowned, looking at Shabd, knowing he wanted to go with all his friends………..Mahi, humesha padhai aur career mein hi lagi rehti hai, jao jara doston ke sath bhi waqt bitao, tum bhi fresh ho jaogi.……..She said……
M: I know bhabhi, but carreer first………Ye waqt nikal gaya to dubara nahi aata………Aur enjoy karne ke liye to sari umr padhi hai………
Pratham: Maam, tab tak tum buddhi ho jaogi……
M: Like you, you mean? She asked grinning and Pratham frowned hitting her……..
Shabd: Waise Josh, tumhara kya kaam wahan studio mein inke sath…..? You are not performing any way…….He asked grinning……..
J: Hey man…..Can't miss Kripa's performance…..may it be just a rehearsal……
Surya chuckled…..
J: Sach keh raha hun uncle…..She is just superb…..I am sure agar woh ye shows karegi na, she will rock…..he said grinning…..Kripa blushed…..And came with a plate for him and Angad…….Angad looked at her and was about to tell no, when Josh stopped him…..Are yaar khakar to dekh…..Kripa ke haath ka khana bhi badhiya hota hai……
K: Mujh se acha to Mahi banati hai Josh……..she said chuckling…..
J: Sorry can't say…..Never ate food cooked by her…..Mahi made a face at him and he chuckled…..What? It is a fact…..Don't you agree…..
M: Thik hai…..Kal sham khane par ana saab…..My treat…..She said grinning…..Oh no…..kal nahi….mera project…..she said biting her toungue……Next week…..Saturday program hai…..aur Sunday yahan party, Kripa's success party…..what do you say…?
J: You have your self a deal Miss. Mahi…..We will be here……..he said grinning…..
S: Me too….
Al: Me 3……and count Harshini Inn too……
P: Hum to yahin rehte hain…..so don't need to vote…..then they all looked to Angad…..
S: Kyun Angad beta, tum nahi aaoge……? He asked surprised……
A: Sure…..why not…..he said smiling……Josh, Shabd and Prithvi raised their eye brows surprised, and he just shrugged…….
Kripa went up and got ready and came back within 10 minutes…..Shabd Mahi left soon to the college…….Angad was still sitting talking to Prithvi about his business…….But when he looked up, his eyes fell on Kripa, who had changed into stretch pants and loose shirt, which touched her thighs…..She looked beautiful……..She was very conscious about everyone watching her……But Gauri had suggested her this, as it was difficult to dance, with chudidar……She would be wearing traditional dress for the classical dance and would be wearing chudidar in one as well as Long gown in the other, which would be a group show…...She walked past everyone, without looking at them and collected her bag as well as pc for the music she had composed for the program………
Surya kept quite, about the dress, even though he did not like it a lot, but he was getting used to it now a little, as Mahi wore nothing other than pant shirts and even Gauri wore them…..Kripa never did till last couple of weeks……..But Mahi and Gauri kept telling her to and last couple of times she had wore it for the reharsals……But, her dad, Josh and Angad were not present……Their group along with Prithvi and Aliyah had seen it……..
K: Ma mein Jaun?…..she asked smiling a little…..Gayatri smiled and kissed her cheeks…..
G: Jaldi aana beta…..Angad raised his eyebrows a little….. Kripa just blushed and looked away…….
Angad could see the difference in personality in Kripa and Mahi…..Kripa did all the work with permission, while Mahi was her own person……Kripa was into Indian culture, while Mahi was cool with both……Mahi was more modern, while Kripa traditional..….Mahi looked like she was more career conscious…..while he did not feel Kripa had so big a dream, though todays talk about her show, made him think about it……But, if he saw through them, Mahi was the type of girl, he would like more……..Career conscious, free attitude, big dreams, modern, as well as one who would understand his thrive for career….…But still, he was attracted to Kripa rather than Mahi, even though Mahi had more in common with him than Kripa……..He frowned at his own train of thoughts…..why was he comparing them both to his likings…….He should look at his career rather than comparing girls for himself !!!……Josh got up from his side and he looked up…..He did not like it that Josh was going with them and he had made no secret about it and told that he would not miss Kripa's performance for the world……..Josh was still grinning looking at where Kripa had gone……He then saw Surya deep in thoughts……
Pratham: Prithvi, der mat karna…..Kripa ko sham hone se pehle drop kar dena…..he said authoritatively…..

Gauri bought the laptop and gave it to her…….
K: Thanks Bhabhi……Aur woh aaj mere India se costumes aa rahe hain…..woh….

K: Thanks Bhabhi…..bye….Kripa then looked at her dad, who chuckled at her…..He knew she was hesitating…..
S: Bye beta….sambhalkar jao….
K: Bye papa….bye Angad….she said smiling at him….
He just waved like always and Aliyah, Josh, Prithvi and Kripa went out…….Angad kept staring at them till they were out and then got up……..
S: Are Angad beta, tumne to kuch khaya hi nahi……
A: Ji…..Mein…..
Gayatri came and served him some more and he reluctantly sat down…….His thoughts going back to Kripa, and Josh, who was with her……….He tasted the food and smiled…..It was good……Once done, he thanked them all and left as he had work……….
