Chapter – 9

Mahi and Kripa were just too happy to sleep that night……They talked and talked till morning hours….Kripa could not help but laugh at Mahi's silly jokes…She was too dramatic…….Suddenly the door opened and there stood pratham with a frown on his face….

P: Mahi Kripa…..aaj sone ka irada bhi hai ki nahi…he said rolling his eyes coming in the room….Mahi and Kripa looked up smiling at Pratham…….They grinned at him….

M: Common brother dear……aajao, humare sath tum bhi baitho….bada maja aa raha hai….she said grinning patting the empty bed besides her….

P: Done…..Par chai pilani padegi…It's still 4 in the morning….he said coming in….He took a pillow and kept in on the opposite side of the bed and slept in between them….

M: Humne tumhe batein karne ke liye bulaya hai…..humme kaam par bhej ne ke liye nahi….she said making faces….

Kripa smiled and got up…..

K: Mein abhi bana deti hun….she said smiling and getting up and walking out….

P: See…that is my sweet little sister….

M: Yeah sure…..Very funny….she said pinching his leg ….smiling at him sweetly…

Pratham made faces and pulled out his leg from her hand…..

P: Waise, baat kya kar rahe the tum donon…..sari neend kharab kar di meri…...

M: Common bhaiya….It is 4 in the morning…….Tum to raat raat bhar jagte the padhai ke liye……..yaad hai…

P: That was a century ago….he said closing his eyes….

M: Yeah I know….But it is a good practice….You soon would need it, again…..

P: Are you out of your mind….Tumhe kis liye bulaya yahan……..Tumhe to bahot practice hai jagne ki…….So you would not mind, taking care of my baby……….he said smiling….Mahi chuckled and threw a pillow at him…

M: In your dreams…..Pratham chuckled still eyes closed but caught the pillow, before it hit his face…..

P: Yeah, If you take care of my baby, then I will see you in my dreams too….don't worry…..That way, I can keep an eye on you…..

M: You are just impossible…..I am not a little girl any more…….You don't need to keep an eye on me…..

P: That is what scares me more...That you are not a little girl any more….he said chuckling…..Mahi made faces but smiled at him, thinking how far they have come in last 20 years……….

Kripa soon came with 3 cups of tea …..she gave Pratham 2 pills along with the tea and Pratham smiled at her with a thanks……and took the pills….

M: Woh medicines kyun di? She asked frowning….

K: Kyun ki bhaiya ka saar dard de raha hai….she said sitting next to pratham's head, and applying pain reliver and slowly massaging Pratham's head…..

Pratham closed his eyes and sighed…..

Mahi frowned and looked at Pratham who sat there with closed eyes…..

M: Aur tumhe kaise pata chala ki iska saar dard de raha hai?…..

K: Kripa just shrugged…..Bas pata chal gaya…

M: You are scaring me….Did you develop some magic powers while I was away….

Kripa and Pratham both chuckled…..

Mahi just shook her head and sipped the tea…..

M: Hmmm….Nice tea…….

Pratham stopped Kripa's hand and slowly got up taking the tea in his head and sipping it slowly…..

P: You are a life saver Kripa….he said sighing…..Mera saar dard se phata ja raha tha, dawai lene hi utha tha, ki lights dikhe tumhare room mein…..he said smiling….Kripa smiled at him sweetly and sat with her cup…..Mahi felt a little left out….but she always knew, that Kripa was way too sensitive and always was the one to take care of every one…..she even knew what Mahi wanted or thought about many a times….So she just kept quite…..

After having the tea……...they all sat there talking till they heard voices from downstairs……..Having wonderful sibling time together…….They then went down, where Gayatri had already started with the breakfast preparations…..

M: Mein walk ke liye ja rahi hun….…..Want to come Kripa?

K: Na…tum jao….meri class hai abhi….jaldi jana hai….she said streching….

P: Jyada dur mat jana….Remember you just arrived….Pratham warned….

M: Bhaiya remember what I said a couple of hours ago……I am not a little girl any more, who needs a adult all the time...she said looking at him with a frown…..Pratham just shook his head and went away to freshen up…Mahi too went to change her clothes and then walked out …..It felt wonderful out in the fresh air……..

K: Mahi…..ek min….Prithvi ke ghar lunch par ana hai? Mere classes ke baad thode friends aa rahe hain, uske ghar get together ke liye……

M: Sure….she said making faces…..Well she was not really into social things and all…Though she went for fuctions, with there parents….she did not do much socializing, unless it includes some thing for her in it….like good carreer talk, or some thing for future opportunities, etc..

M: Hey Kripa, kisi ko batana nahi abhi mere bare mein…. ok…..Kripa frowned and raised her eyebrow…Mahi chuckled and continued…..How about we surprise them a little and confuse them in between both of us…..

Kripa laughed….

K: You are mad….No way….They are my friends….I can't fool them around…..she rolled her eyes…..

M: Common Kripa…..what will a little fun around friends matter? Please…..she said making faces…

Kripa chuckled at her and agreed with a shrug after a minute……..They had played some pranks when they were kids, but rarely……But it was always Mahi's idea…..It would be fun to try those after all these years kripa thought grinning a little…..and Mahi was right…..In last few weeks, she had really come close to all her friends in Prithvi's music group…..It wouln't hurt any one if they tricked them for few minutes…..she thought smiling….

K: Alright….but only for few minutes…..afterwards, I am coming clean….

M: Spoilsport…..she said a little angrily……but then said….done….she knew, Kripa would never play with anyone's feelings

Kripa went up to have her bath and so did pratham…….she needed to run along….her little students were too eager to start, and usually present before she even came there……

Kripa, Pratham, Gauri and Suryabhan meanwhile got ready and were already having there breakfast when Mahi came in…..She sat with all of them for breakfast, when Gayatri scolded her, for not having her bath before having breakfast…..Mahi showed her reluctance and made faces at Gayatri…..and she melted for her…..It had been ages that Mahi had been in the family just like Pratham and she could not refuse her….She served her breakfast too…..But she warned her, not to make it a habbit as from tomorrow, she was to come for breakfast only after her bath and be present for the puja, before breakfast…..Mahi immidiately agreed and started eating….

Once every one was done Kripa called Prithvi as he was going to accompany her today. They had planned to go to the temple together, as every one from there group, was joining them for a little get together……

Mahi looked at Kripa a little surprised…..As far as she knew, Kripa never talked to any boys when she was in college…..she was always reserved and kept away as their dad wished…..And she was even surprised to see that her dad was ok with it…..She raised her eyebrows at Kripa when she turned around, after keeping the phone….And kripa just shook her head smiling…..She took her purse and the box of sweet, that Gayatri had packed for the kids…..and then went in the garrage to take her shoes, as Gayatri and Suryabhan, did not allow any one to come in with there shoes, inside the house…..

G: Kripa, Prithvi aya hai……Gayatri called out….Kripa hurried, telling bye to everyone…..

Prithvi was there, waiting for her, when she went out….She waved at him and went to his car and sat with him in the front seat……

Mahi could see them from the dinning area and she frowned…..Kripa seemed very close to him…..She saw her hitting the so called Prithvi's hand when he tried to take the box of sweets from her and then he was smiling and starting the car….

Her dad and Pratham Gauri were also ready and were out in minutes with there bags promising Gayatri and Mahi to join them for lunch……

M: Mom, Kripa ladke ke sath ja rahi hai, aur papa kuch nahi keh rahe? She asked as soon as there car was gone….

Gayatri chuckled and looked at Mahi…..

G: Prithvi baju ke ghar mein rehta hai……mandir mein jaan pehchan hui thi…….acha ladka hai, aur papa bhi uss par bharosa karte hain……Woh kripa ki madad kar raha hai……..Uske sare friends ko hum jante hain aur kabhi kabhi snacks ya dinner ke liye ate hain……Prithvi usse lift deta hai….uska college ka rasta wahin se jata hai…

M: Vow, abhi college mein padhta hai? She asked frowning…..

G: Nahi lecturer hai.….she said chukling….

M: Hmm….im-mpressive…..she said grinning…..her little head cooking up with the thoughts of Prithvi and Kripa together married with kids….The immagination made her grin and she went behind her mom to help her clear the table…..

Meanwhile, Kripa and Prithvi reached the temple and he dropped Kripa at the entrance….

On the other side, Angad sat in front of his PC and kept staring at it….He was far far away from it…..His thoughts went back to today morning…..Kripa in jogging suit…..And she looked, wonderful…..He was surprised to see her that way as he always thought she was a very traditional Indian Girl…..But today looking at her it was just amazing…Her skin was wet with sweat….It looked like she had been running for quite a while……He could not stop thinking about her….but then he saw his boss coming this way and he straightened him self……What was he thinking……This was not for him…..Not for now atleast…..He was having very high goals…..Goals which needed his undivided attention…….He sighed frustatedly and went back to his work, devoting him self completely back to job…….

Back to Mahi, she got ready at once after taking bath and took her purse and walked out….Gayatri was surprised to see her going some where…..That too when she arrived only a day back….

G: Mahi, Kahan ja rahi ho?

M: Mom, university ja rahi hun. I need to find out some details about the courses they have ……Gayatri frowned at her……

G: Mahi, itni jaldi kya hai, kal hi to ayi ho…..she exclaimed …..aur waise jaogi kaise university, car to nahi hai tumhare paas…..

Mahi chuckled…..and showed her a booklet…..

M: I got this at the airport today mom….Apparently there are busses and I can get one around the corner of this road every 1 hour…..Woh directly university jata hai…Don't worry mom, I will be back before lunch……she said hugging her mom…..

G: Mahi, papa ko batake to jao, naraj ho jayenge.…..

M: Mom I am not a baby anymore ok……If I can come all the way from Bombay all alone, then why not locally……Don't worry….I will be back soon and now I need to leave or I will miss my bus….….and saying this she ran away……not waiting for Gayatri to speak……Gayatri sighed closing her eyes…..She just could never figure out how to come to terms with Mahi's independent attitude…..She just prayed that she would come back soon…..

It was lunch time and Mahi was still not here…..and she heart the car coming in the Garrage and knew that all were back for lunch…..Her heart took a leap, thinking how Suryabhan would react…..

They all came in and saw Gayatri keeping the plates on the table…..

After washing there hand's they all came to the table and asked about Mahi….

Gayatri hesitated at first, but then told them about Mahi's insistance to go to the university…..

Suryabhan got up angrily…..

S: I can't believe this girl…..Kal hi to ayi hai……yahan, aju baju ka kuch pata nahi hai……humare sath iss course ka kuch bhi discussion nahi kiya ussne…..Bas nikal gayi…..ek baar puchana jaruri bhi nahi samjha issne…...He said frustratingly…..Gayatri looked at Pratham, who was as angry as his dad….but when he looked at his mother's pleading eyes to calm his dad, he took a deep breathe and got up…..

P: It's ok dad…..Ajeygi…..Busses ache hain waise……

TheN the bell rang and Gauri got up to open the door and Mahi stood there grinning…..Gauri made a face at her and before she could say any thing, Suryabhan came out clenching his hands….

S: Mahi….what do you think you are doing? Did you forget each and every thing we thaught you……..You are not familiar with your surroundings, and further you don't even have a mobile to keep in touch and you go out without my permission…..I did not expect this from you…..Yesterdays stunt was more that enough and I forgave you but today, you have crossed your limits……You should have first talked to us about your plans and then I or Pratham would have taken you to where ever you wanted…..he barked out…..

M: Dad….

P: No Mahi…..Dad is right….You should have atleast told us today morning about your plans…..I could have taken you. It is not good for you to go alone, when you just arrived yesterday…..He said calmly….

M: Dad I just wanted to go and find out some information and further I have all the informations of the bus routes as well as the maps of the area….. I was going to talk to your about it today…..I did my research about my future studies in bombay it self and today I called them and asked them about it…..They told me that I could take the forms and even scolarship exam forms if I want to apply for it…..That is why I went to collect them…..She said slowly…..

Suryabhan just gave a frustrated sigh and went back to the table…..

S: I don't have time to talk with you know….mere clients aa rahe hain……..Par sham mein baat karenge hum…..and I am telling you again that you are not going out of this house before that………Do you understand? Mahi nodded a little slowly….she was annoyed at all the fuss…….

Pratham and Gauri too took there place when Suryabhan glared at them angrily…..Gayatri indicated Mahi to go and change and come back for lunch and kripa nodded and was off…………

Mahi threw the purse and papers on bed and sat on the bed frustratedly…..It should not have been like this…..All were acting as if she did some crime…..it was so ridiculous…..Yes they were worried, but they knew where she was going…….then what was all that fuss about?She shook her head and changed and then went down and silently ate a little, as Kripa and she had decided to go to Prithvi's house later…..No one dared to speak again for the fear, suryabhan would get angry again…..After lunch Pratham and Suryabhan went away to there offices leaving the girls behind……..

Mahi left out a sigh…..

M: God…….I don't know what I did that was so wrong, that Dad became so upset ? she said angrily……

Gayatri sighed closing her eyes…….

G: Mahi…..hume chinta hoti hai.….Tum kal hi ayi ho beta…..nayi jagah, naya desh….aise kabhi bhi kahin bhi chali jaogi to kaise chalega…….yahan to public transport bhi nahi hai jyada, nahi tumhare paas cell phone hai ki mein contact kar sakun.…..

M: I understand that you worry about me mom….But there was nothing to worry about …..Tumhe pata hai na ki mein kahan ja rahi hun…..Any way leave that……Mom you will not believe this, but I have my scolarship exam on this Saturday and if everything goes well I will get the admission and my college starts next week………She said grinning………

Kripa had 5 hours of class till 1 and Prithvi and all her friends had decided to meet at 1 after her class, in prithvi's house in his studio……As soon as she was in the hall, the children surrounded her cheerfully……She laughed at them, as they were all asking questions one by one…..without giving her chance to speak…..She shook her head and slowly but strictly asked them to calm down…..They smiled and grinned at her, but stopped talking after a while….She talked with each of them slowly…..answering them and then started her class…..Time went on and 3 groups came and went away……Atlast, she took out her bottle and relaxed for couple of minutes tired a little……

P: Tired….Prithvi asked grinning….

Kripa shook her head laughing…..just relaxing….she said smiling….

P: Chale…..

K: Chalo…..she said putting her things in her bag and wraping up for the day…..Prithvi took her bag for her, while she carried the box….Prithvi droped her home and she promised to be at his house in few minutes…..

She quickly went in and kept her bag as well as her box…..and called Mahi…..

Mahi came down grinning……She was wearing one of Kripa's dress and winked at her…..Kripa looked at her chukling…..She told him the way to go to Prithvi's house…..after showing her the photos from the Independence day……and telling her the names…….Mahi nodded grinning and went to Prithvi's house…..

Mahi slowly went to the door Kripa had indicated and knocked at the door…..Prithvi opened the door and smiled at her….

P: Common in…..all are waiting for you…..

Mahi follwed grinning and looked around impressed by the music studio……

J: Hi Beautiful…..Josh got up as soon as he saw her……grinning at her….

M: Hi….she said smiling at him…..Trying to remember his name…..

P: Are Josh yaar, tu apni harkate kaab chodega…..Prithvi called from behind…..

M: That's ok Prithvi…..I got used to his blah blah by now…..she said chuckling…..Prithvi chuckled at her…..she had never talked this way before but he shrugged…..

A: Common Kripa…Bhai usse chodo aur ye puzzle solve karo…..she said making faces…..

J: Aliyah….don't be a baby…..ye puzzle kyun leke baithe ho tum dono…..he said making faces….

S: Jane do yaar…..chal thoda drinks lete hain……want to join Kripa…..

M: Sure she said grinning…..

Prithvi again looked at her and frowned…..Kripa would never have told yes for it….she would rather have solved the puzzle than drink with boys….

He was heating the pizza a little as it was already cold……and shook his head….

M: You seem to be more of Prithvi's friend than Angad's…..she said chuckling……

J: Darling, the reason I come with all these kids and tolerate their nonsense is you…..I only come here to meet you and look at your lovely face….Mahi kept staring at him….while the others laughed….she rolled her eyes….

M: I can't belive you just said that…..she said taking a soda from his hand…..she opened the can and started drinking…..

Suddenly Prithvi remembered Kripa's words that she had a twin who would join them soon……Prithvi smiled at that and knew the reason she was behaving so differntly…If it would have been Kripa, she would have blushed and blushed, and she would taken her time to drink it slowly and even ask him, if she could help….he grinned and decided to go with her for some more time…..he sent an sms on Kripa's mobile and grinned

P: Miss. Kripa, include me in as well, in the list of your fans….and make sure it is on the top…..he said putting a hand on her shoulder…..grinning at her….Josh pulled her away from her before she could react….

J: Stay away from my girl…..he said grinning at him

P: Your girl…..? how come she is your girl when she is going on dates with me for past one month…..he asked grinning.…..Kripa looked at them both as if they have gone crazy…..a little surprised at what Prithvi just said….Kripa was dating? Now she thought that she must be dreaming…….but she looked at everyone who were looking at them…..

M: Prithvi is right Josh, I have been dating from last few days…..she said after a little confused though….but she had seen Prithvi and Kripa in the morning and knew they were quite close…..but Prithvi's words about dating made her a little confidant at least…..Prithvi grinned at her confused face….so Kripa had kept her word and not told her about him and Tanya…..or else, she would never say this…

J: What? Aliyah and Harshini also looked at them both along with Shabd…..

S: When did this happen? He asked puzzled……

Prithvi kept a hand on Mahi's shoulder and grinned, looking in her eyes…..kissing her on her cheeks……This happened when Mahi came in between us, pretending to be Kripa, fooling us around for past 15 minutes……..he said chuckling at the shocked faces, including Mahi, who had fooled many including her teachers, but never got caught.……he grinned at them as well as Mahi and went to door and opened it and Kripa came in grinning.…..

Kripa chuckled at the shocked faces and Prithvi and Kripa shared hi 5's chucking…..

K: I never thought you would catch her so soon…..This is the first time I think that some one other than Pratham had caught her……she said chukling…..

Every one was looking at both sisters with shock and surprise….

J: Am I dead and gone in heaven…..he asked closing his eyes and opening it again…..Kripa chuckled and looked at Josh…..Kripa….right….Kripa nodded….then he looked at Mahi….Mahi….and she nodded grinning….Shabd did not say a word but observed them carefully……Yaar Prithvi…..tujhe kaise pata chala ki ye Mahi hai….he asked suddenly frowning at Prithvi….

P: They both are very much alike man…..but are totally different….if you know what I mean….

Josh frowned at him….

J: I don't know what you mean….that is the reason I was asking….

P: Keep looking and you will find out soon enough…..

S: Welcome Mahi…….Shabd Sareen…...he said giving his hand forward……looking at her with a smile…..

Mahi grinned and shook his hand……

M: Pleasure…..she said chuckling….

J: Oh….rest assure Miss Mahi…..Pleasure is all ours…..always has been he said looking at Kripa with a wink….Kripa blushed a little and went near Aliyah and Harshini….who were still looking at her…..Kripa grinned at them….

K: Hello….Aliyah looked at her….

AL: You are Kripa….She is Mahi…..Vow….seeta geeta…..I can't believe it….God, you both look so alike…..she said chuckling….

H: Are you going to be fooling around us…..confusing us all the time….she asked making faces

AL: No way…..I am going to ask them to sing as soon as I saw one of them, before I come to conclusion…..Mahi looked at her with horror and Kripa chuckled……

K: Relax Allu…..you are too much…..Any way, it is very rare that, Mahi wears traditional dress…..And you know me….I like Indian dresses……she said chuckling…..Then she saw at the puzzle and grinned…..Can I help?

AL: Sure….if you can….I have been doing it for past hour and I am rather getting irritated…..Kripa smiled and looked at it closely, while Aliyah and Harshini went to Mahi and introduced them selves…..

M: By the way Prithvi….I am impressed…..No one except Pratham Bhaiya ever caught us in our little games……Though they could make out who is who within couple of seconds…….she said grinning…..Prithvi laughed…..

P: I suppose, you have been away from Kripa a long time…..so, must have forgotten how to be her a little……Kripa chuckled and kept solving the puzzle….Mahi rolled her eyes……..

J: Care to join for pool game…..?

M: Here? Vow….sure….she said grabbing her drink…..But be aware….I am good……very good…..she said with a wink….

Josh laughed at her confidence……..

J: I am supper good…..so he said raising his hands……

They started playing and time flew by…..they were in for a tough competition……Shabd was observing the game closely, impressed by Mahi….

S: Josh….move aside….I have to play this….he said grinning….taking over….Josh frowned at him but stood back…..Shabd looked at Mahi with a smile and within few minutes he won…….yes…he said putting a hand up….Josh laughed and clapped Shabd on his back…..

J: Well done man….I guess I am out of practice...Mahi gave them a dirty look and took her drink and walked off angrily….

Josh and Shabd joined others in the room taking their plates…..

S: Miss. Mahi…..Afraid to loose OR not used to it? Is it…..he asked chuckling sitting next to her…….

M: Not afraid….just plain not used to it…I will beat u one day….she said challenging….

S: Shabd Sareen will wait for that……he said smiling…..Mahi just rolled her eyes……..

Kripa was busy looking through the collections in Prithvi's computer…..While Aliyah and Harshini were busy eating their pizza…

P: Kripa….common….finish your pizza first……he said pulling her arms….and making her get up from the chair...

The rest of the after noon passed by and the gang started talking about next upcoming function and their show…….Josh had already left as he was getting late….He had come in during the break…..Shabd and Mahi were getting bored and decided to take a walk…..

M: By the way Shabd….what do you do? I mean Job, study?

S: I am looking for the Jobs…….but was thinking of doing MBA and Phd…. Instead….

M: Really! Vow….she said impressed…

While they were walking they saw a car pass by and shabd waved at it…..

M: Friend?

S: Hmmm….Prithvi's brother….he said smiling….Where did you learn to play pool? He asked smiling at her….

M: We friends had membership in a club….so all the spare time we had, we would be busy palying some or other things….she chuckled…..Shabd, I want to do MBA too….I registered my name for the exam this week…..I wanted information about some things….Would you be able to help me…I mean if you have time….

S: Sure….but I am wondering why you are doing MBA after hotel management…..he asked frowning….

K: Oh I want to do Tourism management, which will help me get jobs in various resorts…. In resort as well as tour managerial posts….So, it will be a nice combination….I was thinking….

Shanbd nodded his approval….

S: Yeah….I get your point….I will help you any way I can….He gave her his address and phone no. and told her to call him and they would meet and discuss it….Mahi grinned and thanked him….

Meanwhile Prithvi, Kripa, Aliyah and Harshini were singing songs and asking openions about the songs, so they could select some for their play…….

Angad came home early as he had evening flight to New york….for some business meeting…..He saw through his review mirror as Shabd waved…..Kripa had kept staring….For some reason, he wanted to go to her and spend time with her…..he frowned at those thoughts……and shook his head…..He took a bottle from the freeze and went down, to print his boarding pass……He groaned hearing the songs…..Must be prithvi he thought irritatingly……He kept hearing to same old songs again and again…He opened the door and then went to the other side of the room….and switched on his pc…..

A: Hey Kripa….common choose some thing soon yaar.….he heard Aliyah say and he frowned…...3-4 minutes ago….he had seen them a mile or so away…..how come she was here so fast……..he shook his head…but he could not resist going and meeting her once…he would be away for next 3 days…….

While he walked to the media room, but stopped behind the door when he heard her voice….

K: Prithvi, ek min tum ye dhun bajao na..…..yeh gajal bahot achi hai…jagjit singh ki…. ga kar dekhna chahti hun ek baar….please….Prithvi shrugged and started
