Stars, they say, exist for many reasons. To some, they are the distant memories of a forgotten and forbidden life. To a second class, they are the immortal representation of expired loved ones that stay there symbolizing their ever strong attachment to us. To the incepted brains, they are huge masses of balls of fire that are small only because the Almighty decided to keep them as far away as possible. When I mentioned this to a friend, once under a case of serious drunkenness, he asked me what they meant to me. I remember well that I paused for long to answer that. Mystical, I had answered. He grinned at my easy smile. Then, my line of thought trailed to limits and boundaries that I had drawn for myself. Hours, I spent, under the sheet of darkness, feeling ethereal not just because of the excess alcohol I had consumed but also because my strongest memories were blanking my senses. With a leg on the chair across mine, I lazily stared at the twinkling nasties above me. At each twinkle, I saw a different face. Sometimes, she was that innocent girl in India. Then on the next, she held the powerful face of a tyrant. Cruelly, she once again altered to the lily I held in London. I had just enough of consciousness left in me to capture in the 19th image. I remember how incredibly salty my lips tasted the next morning.
