CHAPTER ' 7

"What? What are you saying? Are you telling me or not?"

"Alright, stop eating my head. Grandma asked me to take you to your mother's house."

She didn't respond for a moment and he thought that finally she'll keep shut in her happiness.

"Stop, I don't want to go" she spoke with tears brimming in her black eyes.

He didn't stop "What? I thought you'll be more than happy to meet your mom"

Charu's eyes were already flooded with tears. He turned his head to find her sobbing.

"Will you stop crying?" he asked frowning.

Seeing her sobs increasing he threatened her irately stopping the car with a jerk "If you cry anymore, I'll throw you out of the car this instant."

She did not utter a word and started trying to open the doors. Seeing her actually getting out of the car, Adi came out swearing under his breath. This ever crying girl was getting on his nerves now.

He swiftly moved to her side, grabbing her hand he turned her.

"What now? You only asked me to get out." she asked indignantly, still in tears.

"Nothing, get in." he said calmly and then added after a pause, "You can continue with your torture."

Charu smiled in between her tears at his little surrender and looked up.

He probably couldn't blink as unknown warmth filled his heart at the twinkle he saw in her tear stained eyes. A random thought suddenly struck his mind. How come her tears became a torture to him? This girl was surely going to sway all his wits.

The car stopped in front of the mansion. He hadn't asked her the reason yet, but now he couldn't control. He spoke as she was about step out "Hey Charu, why didn't you want to go to your mom's place?" he asked putting as much disinterest on his face as he could.

She looked at him and could clearly see utmost guilty on his face for his own words and was now probably cursing himself for showing such interest in her matter. She wouldn't share her heart with such a' whatever.

But at this moment she was feeling terribly alone. She couldn't even speak her plight to her friends. With all her tries to put up a strong face she was still a teenager. All that grievances were too much for her to handle.

Adi by now was literally cursing himself. The girl was probably about to take his whole evening for opening her mouth. Had he asked the top secret of the foreign defense agendas of the country from the defense minister? He was irritated and was about to stop her for putting so much pressure on her tiny brain as he wasn't very keen on knowing the reason, when she spoke quietly, "I hate her" in no time her tears again started flowing through her cheeks. But this time, Adi was too shocked to get irritated.

He kept quite as she continued, "She ' she disowned me." Adi was taken aback at the sudden break down of the girl. Morning when he tried to intimidate her she back fired him and now all sobbing badly when he was actually being 'nice'.

He cupped her moist face in his hands as she continued in between her hiccups "she doesn't love me. She was tired of me so she ruined my life."

Ruined her life? Her words were strangely insulting and discomforting, yet he tried to comfort her unlike his usual behavior "Charu" he said ever so softly still holding her face.

Charu felt so much of concern in his voice that she forgot who he was; she hugged him still in hiccups. It wasn't a complete hug, just her face on his shoulders and her hands on his shirt's sleeves.

He caressed her hairs not knowing how to console her. But all he knew that he could endure her stealing all the attention of his parents, attacking his pride or anything except in this broken state.

After a couple of minutes, when she was in no mood to stop he spoke, "If you keep hugging me like this, I am afraid you'll fall for me this very moment"

Charu broke the hug with a jerk with her eyes now filled with disbelief.

"Hey don't be embarrassed. It happens as I am irresistibly handsome. I understand" he flaunted with all his sympathy.

She looked at him in awe "I haven't met anybody as big headed as you"

"And you'll never. That's because there can be just one masterpiece."

"Oh really? Or may be God realized his mistake soon after creating you and never committed such blunder ever again" she completed with a satisfied smile, all tears forgotten by then.

Adi and Charu reached home at evening. Sarojini wasn't expecting them so early. Knowing her grandson's forgetful attitude, she looked sternly at him "Adi didn't I ask you to '"

He cut her scolding session and spoke in defense "I didn't do anything. She herself didn't want to go."

Charu felt all short of words. She didn't know what to explain to grandma. And moreover this thoughtless Aditya had put all the blame on her head.

Sarojini immediately understood her situation. Renuka had told her over phone that morning about Charu being upset with her. But she hadn't expected that she was this angry that she even refused to meet her.

"Oh! So my princess didn't want to miss her grandma" she covered up and patted her cheeks softly.

Adi narrowed his eyes and his mouth fell wide open. A moment ago his grandma was all ready to shoot him and now she was showering all her love for the same reason just when the culprit's name was changed. That's so unfair.

Charu changed into a red loose top and pink three-quarter and was sitting on the chair eating apple. She was talking to grandma or say narrating about her day in college even their fights. Sarojini smiled as she kept on blabbering animatedly. It was little easy to divert her mood. Just like a child. She knew she missed her mother but she had actually accepted them as her family without much hesitation.

Adi came out of his room in black t-shirt and blue jeans, all set for the Saturday night.

"Adi"

He stopped at his grandma's call and spoke "No way grandma. Don't stop me. I am going to disc after almost a week."

"Disc" charu jumped with excitement.

"Why are you reacting as if you as if you've heard the name first time?" he asked.

"No, actually I haven't been to any disc before."

Sarojini looked at Adi hopefully but before she could say anything he protested in advance "No. I am not going to take her along. Never"

Half an hour later, Charu was sitting beside him in the car jumping inwardly with excitement. She was all excited at the thought of going to a disc and her excitement was quite prominent in her features too. Her eyes were glowing as if they were luminous.

She was too happy and ignored the momentary irritated comments of the boy.

As soon as he entered the disc, he quickly strode towards his friends and their regular spot leaving the girl behind.

He had hardly acknowledged Rohan and Sid, when Sid exclaimed, "Hey, look at her."

Adi and Rohan turned around to spot the girl in black knee-length dress with long thick black hairs complementing her flawless fair skin. There was a sudden suffocation in the hall as if each one was holding his breath. Adi for few seconds found him incapable of blinking but then the sighs and comments from the boys brought him back to reality. He strode towards her frowning and wondering why he hadn't noticed her before. Probably he was too annoyed to notice how bewitchingly beautiful she was looking. Wait a bit' did he say beautiful'? Was he drunk or something'?

He held her wrist and brought her to his spot. Rohan and Sid weren't shocked actually when she followed him quietly. Well no girl hadn't refused him either.

"Hey, I am Sid. Aren't you from our college?" Sid jumped to his intro.

Charu smiled "Hi. Yes, first year. I am Charu."

"Yeah, are you the one who almost cried during that ragging session? Hey we are sorry about that. It was just a prank."

"It's ok."

Adi watched the on going conversation quietly as Rohan inched closer to him and muttered, "What's going on dude? You and dating a junior"

Adi glared at him "I am not dating her" he said quite aloud.

"Oh really? Then what is she doing here with you?" Rohan questioned and then continued, "But seriously she's different from the rest of your girlfriends."

Rohan looked away from the annoyed expression and jumped into the duo's conversation to save himself.

"Hey Charu, this is Rohan."

Charu smiled, more at ease with the more down-to-earth friends of the big headed boy.

"Have you been to disc before" Sid asked.

"No, but I love this place", she said excitedly.

"OK then I'll make sure you enjoy here" Sid said.

They went on chatting and laughing. In no time looked quite comfortable with each other. Adi and Rohan were little surprised that Sid didn't 'try' with Charu. He was enjoying with her just like a friend. Later they went for dancing and were more at ease.

After a while, Adi was looking around for her, and then he got the shock of his life!!!
