Sanya, Gautham, Suhas, Rano, DK, Disha, Vedant, Gargi, Sumitra and Dhruv

Were all at Bhosle house

And had just finished dinner

V: wow Aunty!! You're the best cook in the world!!

DK looked at him

DK: Vedant…didn't we talk about this yesterday?

Disha nudged him

D: DK!!

DK: What? I was just saying!

Sum: Suhasniji…you said that you wanted to give some good news?

Suhas smiled

S: Not one…but two!

D: what is it mamma?

S: well…the first is that Sanya's pregnant!!

Sanya blushed

Everyone congratulated Gautham and Sanya

G: and the second?

Suhas smiled even more

S: I've decided to get Rano married!!! A boy will be coming to see her tomorrow!!!

Vedant's face went pale

Rano and Disha were stunned

They all looked at Suhas's smiling face

And didn't have the heart to say anything

After a while

It was time to go

Vedant and Rano looked at each other sadly

Tears welled up in her eyes

And she ran off to her room

No one except DK, Vedant and Disha noticed

Saighal house

DK and Disha were in their room

DK was on his laptop working

D: DK!! I Can't believe this!!

DK: What?

D: the girl your brother loves so much is getting married to someone else…and you're only worried about your work!!

DK: One minute Disha…let me just finish this presentation and we'll talk!!

Disha snapped the laptop shut

DK: Disha!! What're you doing?

D: I can't believe you're being so insensitive!!

DK: Look…if Vedant really loves her…then he'll talk to Aunty himself…he doesn't need us for that!!

D: You know what he's like!!! He won't do it until Rano's married!!

DK: Look Disha…just think of it as…Vedant and Rano were never meant to be

Disha gave him a look

DK: Everything happens for a reason…and maybe the reason for this was that Vedant and Rano can't be together!!

Disha was shocked at his words

She grabbed a blanket and pillow in anger

And stormed out to the balcony

DK: Disha!! Where are you going?

D: Everything happens for a reason DK!! And the reason this time is I don't want to talk to you!!!

She slammed the door shut

boy what a news 😆
poor ved, now DK has to suffer 😆 😆

disha better take one more blanket as it will get cold out in the balcony 😉 😆

part 45

Vedant's room…

Vedant stood to one side, gazing at a photo of Rano as the memories of the evening washed over him…he had noticed the strained silence between brother and bhabhs, and new they would be fighting right about now…it was all his fault…he sighed and buried his face into his hands…

V: All my fault…

Vedant knew Rano would be upset…she hadn't said anything to Suhas today…but soon, if not tomorrow…she would refuse to marry and wouldn't give an explanation…more problems, more arguments…and they would all be because of him…

V: I have to do something…Rano has a right to be happy…and maybe there's someone else who can keep her happier than I can…

Making his mind up, Vedant threw on jacket and tiptoed out of the house…

Rano's room…

Rano was sitting on her bed, staring vacantly into space…she closed her eyes but opened then again as Vedant's face came in to her mind…she sighed and rolled on to her front…

Tick tock tick tock…her clock carried on moving, telling her it was 2am…

It had been 5 hours since Rano had mumbled something about being sick to Suhas, and ran up to her bedroom…after much crying and wallowing in self pity, she had decided to talk to Vedant in the morning…yet even after her decision…sleep had not come…

Rano knew why…though she had tried her best to convince herself, there was no hiding from the fact that Vedant wouldn't agree with her…instead of talking to Suhas, he would persuade her to go along with the marriage…spend her life with some so and so who would try to impress her with his money…

It wasn't that Vedant was a coward…he just didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings…it was pretty obvious how happy Suhas had been at dinner…Vedant just wouldn't come in between…

R: Some knight in shining armour…

She mumbled…but slowly a smile spread across her face…

R: But I love him…

Outside…

Vedant stood underneath Rano's window…despite the curtains covering the window; he could see that the light was switched on…he knew Rano would still be awake…probably plotting on how to get out of the mess…

Vedant had reached the Bhosle house with no difficulty…thankfully no one had waken up and he was able to get here safely…the only problem now was how to get inside…

While he pondered on ideas…he caught a movement at the side of his eyes…looking up he saw that Rano had opened the window…just enough so that he could get in…if only he could climb up the wall…he looked around for a pipe but couldn't see one…it was probably on the other side of the house…

V: Damn!

Then an idea struck him as he looked at the large tree which just about reached the window…

Rano was sitting on her bed moping when she heard a light thud behind her…curious she turned round and froze…immediately she rushed over to a bettered and bruised Vedant, who was giving a silly grin…

R: Vedant you…what're you doing here?…and this…

V: Oh…it was kinda hard climbing that tree…

Rano was stunned for a second, but soon regained herself…she sat him down and got the first aid box…inspecting the cuts she saw that they weren't too deep and applied some cream to them…

R: Now do you want to tell me why you're here?…

Veadnt looked at her with love in his eyes…suddenly he leaned over and enveloped her in a hug…he closed his eyes and held her tightly…

V: I love you Rano…

Recovering from her shock…Rano also hugged him…

R: I love you too Vedant!!

V: Aunty loves you as well Rano…

Rano sensed what he was about to say, and pushed him off…

R: Vedant I…

Vedant cut her off…

V: Listen to me Rano!! Aunty wants the best for you…she knows what's right for you, and what's wrong for you…and then this marriage…

Vedant held her hand and looked down as he tried to get the words out of his mouth…

V: Rano…I think you should go along with the marriage…for aunty…for me…

Rano looked at him, choked on emotions and with tears in her eyes…in that second she hated him…hated him for letting go off her so easily…for thinking about everyone else's feelings, yet ignoring hers…

R: Vedant…

V: Rano please…don't make this harder than it is…

Then he did the third most unexpected thing that night…Vedant leaned over and planted a soft kiss on her lips…tears streamed down her eyes as Vedant got up and headed for the window, without looking back…

DK tossed and turned in bed…finally he settled for staring up at the empty ceiling…he felt guilty for fighting with Disha, and by listening to the howling wind outside, he knew she'd be cold…

Letting out a long sigh DK knew he was beaten…Disha was stubborn and on no terms would she comeback in to the room…suddenly he sat up…

DK: At least I can try…

DK got up and silently walked to the door that led to the balcony…a small smile appeared on his lips as he saw Disha sleeping on a chair, although not as peacefully as she would've liked…the wind was strong and the blanket thin…even with it wrapped around her…DK could tell she was shivering…

Making up his mind DK carefully picked her up and carried her to the bed…grabbing a thick blanket he wrapped it around her, and noticed that she immediately looked more comfortable…

DK settled for sleeping in the armchair…after all, Disha didn't want to sleep next to DK, and he wanted to respect that…

part 48

Next morning…

The sun's rays hit Disha's eyes causing her to stir in her sleep…but she was woken further by DK whistling in front of the mirror…she groaned and pulled the covers around her tightly…a few seconds later the whistling was replaced by a loud crash…

DK: Ooops…

Sighing Disha sat up and saw DK staring guiltily at the vase he'd just broken…

DK: Uhh…sorry Disha!!

Rubbing her eyes Disha looked around…she then realised something was wrong…she'd gone to sleep in the balcony…but now she was in the bedroom…

D: DK…How did I get here?

DK gave her a sweet smile…the same one that had made her fall in love with him…

DK: I'll call Mahraj to clean up the mess…

He grabbed his stuff and left the room…

4 days later…

Vedant and Rano hadn't talked since he'd decided to climb her window…yet he knew that her engagement was tonight…a remorseful Disha had given him the news two days before…

Vedant came down in the morning for breakfast…after bidding everyone a cheery "good morning"…he'd sat down and immediately started talking to DK about the new project…though it had seemed impossible only a few days earlier, Vedant had no started going to the office and was making a good job of it…

The adults exchanged worried glances…they hadn't been told, but they knew there was something wrong with him…though none of them had asked…

V: ok…I'm off to Kanaka…Brother are you coming?

DK: Yeah…one minute…

DK stood up and was about to lave with Vedant, when Dhruv stopped him…

Dhruv: DK beta…I'll be coming in half an hour, and I want you to meet me in my office…I've got some important work with you…

DK: Yes dad…
