Chapter 1

"It's not my fault, Karan said he's got it." Payal said in defence.

"No!" Karan said in a childish voice.

"Really?" Payal said. She took some pillows from her and threw them at Karan.

"Ok, stop it you two." Khushi said trying to resolve the situation. That was when a pillow hit Khushi's face.

"Ok that's it!" Khushi yelled. This was war. She took whatever she had in her hand and started throwing it at Karan. Karan ducked and the pillow hit someone in the hallway. Khushi, tu to gayi. Khushi thought to herself.

"I believe you forgot this in the hallway." a voice said.

Khushi was very scared, she was about to hide behind Payal when the voice said, "Don't worry, it's ok." He gave the pillow back to Payal.

"I'm Akash, my dorm is upstairs. You guys are new?"

"Yeah, I'm Payal and this is my best friend Khushi."

"Hello." Akash said shaking their hands

"So I gotta run now, but you guys should drop by our dorm upstairs. Its dorm number 112. We summon you!" He laughed as he walked out.

"He's so cute yaar!" Payal squeeled.

"Don't start with me, you 'fall in love' with every boy you meet. Anyways, lets finish unpacking."

Khushi and Payal were almost done when Khushi's last box was opened.

She took out a picture of her mother and stared at it for a moment until a teardrop falling on the frame broke the moment.

"I'm sure she's watching you and I don't think seeing you cry is gonna make her happy." Payal said hugging her from behind. Payal was the one person who understood her before herself.

"Well, I gotta go." Karan said. He completely ignored the moment. Sometimes Khushi felt that Karan didn't care but he met the requirements on the list which meant that she loved him.

Scene Shift. 6:30 pm.

*Knock Knock*

"I'll get it." Akash said. To his surprise, Khushi and Payal were standing there.

"Um, Akash right? We had a question about how the shower works. Could you come down and show us, the dorm advisor isn't here." Akash chuckled.

"Sure, but why don't you guys hang out for a bit? Come on in, we don't bite." Akash said opening the door wider to let them out. Khushi and Payal sat down on their sofa.

"So, what do you think?"

"Your dorm is beautiful Akash ji!" Payal said in excitement. They were talking when Khushi noticed a book on their bookshelf. It was one that she had been impatiently waiting for but it wasn't out in the market yet.

"Um, Akash ji, is that book yours?" Khushi asked pointing to the book.

"No, it's my roommate's. I can see that you really like, why don't you ask him if you could borrow it."

"Erm.."

"Don't be shy, he doesn't bite. He's just not very social but he's nice. I'm sure he wouldn't say no."

"Where is he?' she asked when she noticed someone standing in the balcony, reading a book. The cool breeze made the curtains blow not letting her see his face.

She started to walk towards the balcony when a gust of wind blew across her face causing her hair to fly around like crazy.

"Um, excuse me?" she said trying to make her presence felt.

Arnav looked up. He was staring at this beautiful girl standing there with a book in her hand. God she looked gorgeous, especially with her hair flying around, was she in the right room? She looked shy as her gaze was on the floor. After he examined her he finally said, "Yes."

"Um, I'm Khushi. I'm new here. We met Akash and he invited us here. You have a really beautiful dorm." Khushi said as she was looking around examining Arnav.

He was... cute. And he seemed quiet. His 5 O'clock Shadow outlined his jaw. He looked really cute. Wait Khushi what the hell are you thinking, ask what you came here for and leave.

"Thanks." Arnav said. He was confused. Did a girl come to speak with him because she wanted to tell him how beautiful his dorm was?

"Um, well, I noticed that you have Meg Cabot's newest book and I heard it's really good."

"Yeah, it's amazing, I thought nothing can beat her Insatiable but this book proved me wrong."

"No way, no book can be better then Insatiable."

"Trust me, it's amazing."

"Well, I was wondering if I could borrow it?" Khushi said as she bit her lip.

"Of course." Arnav said with a smile. He finally put the book he was reading down. He moved over gesturing Khushi to sit.

"So, have you been around the campus?"

"No actually we didn't even finish unpacking. We were planning to tomorrow after we finsih unpacking and painting our dorm. Akash said he could help us with that and then he'll give us a tour."

"Ah, I see." Arnav said.

"You could come if you want you know." Khushi said. She immediately cursed herself for doing do. Why was she being so open to Arnav. She literally just met him. She never invited a guy for anything, except Karan of course.

"Sure." Arnav said. He didn't know but something about her made him smile. He just met the girl but felt good about having her around.

"So, Akash and Payal are still in deep conversation. Payal, I tell you, goes crazy when she sees a boy. She immediately 'falls in love' if you know what I mean."

"Haha.. Akash is sort of like that too. The poor guy is confused what to do with his life. Isn't everyone?" He laughed.

"No, not everyone. I for one have my life planned out ahead of me. It's the perfect plan. I call it The KKG Master Plan to Eternal Happiness." Khushi said with a smile.

"Care to share?" Arnav said sipping his coffee.

"Sure, so it starts with a bachelor's degree than a stable relationship which leads up to med. school where I enjoy myself and have fun and then getting married which will lead up to two kids. So far everything is going according to plan. I have a bachelor's degree and in a stable relationship with Karan. " Khushi said noticing she was getting too friendly with a stranger.

"Nice plan indeed." Arnav said.

"So, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Khushi said as she got up.

"Bye." Arnav said waving his hand once and then getting back to his book.

As Khushi got back she saw Payal and Akash were still talking. When the two noticed that Khushi was back,

"Ok then, we'll meet you tomorrow." Said Payal as she headed out.

Arnav came out.

"So dude, what's the scene."

"What?"

"Go, look at your face in the mirror. It looks like a tomato threw up on you. Your blushing like crazy."

"Um, actually, erm."

"Whatever, I don't have time for this. I got to go to bed we have to go help the two with their room tomorrow."

"We? When did Payal ji invite you?"

"I think your forgetting she has a roommate."

"Oh yeah. Woah woah woah wait! You said yes? She asked you and you said yes."

"Yeah? Whats so surprising about that?" Arnav said as he opened the fridge looking for some orange juice.

"No my friend, it's not surprising its astounding. You are the world's most unsocial person and you agreed when you don't even know the two people."

"Akash."

"Yeah?"

"Shut up!" Arnav said in a sarcastic tone.

Akash hadn't seen him cheerful like this in a while. He decided not to ask otherwise he would get the 'Akash, shut up.' Again.

Chapter 2- Something There?

It was nine in the morning. Akash and Arnav were in Khushi and Payal's dorm.

"Hot pink would look so good on the walls! But sadly Khushi planned the room's theme. Her choice is so weird, it's all so depressing."

"Well, I think it makes the room look sort of calm and peaceful. Khushi said as she started painting the walls. Arnav to be quite honest liked the theme. It was perfect, a bunch of light blue shades.

"It's not so bad." Said Arnav picking up a paintbrush.

"See, this man knows his colors." Khushi said giving Arnav a dramatic bravo.

After they finished painting Akash suggested that they take a tour giving the paint some time to dry.

They were in the art room. Khushi was seriously bored whereas Payal was drooling over Akash. Khushi decided to take the tour by herself. She walked out.

"Going somewhere?" a familiar voice called out. Khushi turned around.

"Yeah, um, does the campus have a music room?" Khushi asked Arnav.

"Yeah, but no one ever goes there. You want to check it out?"

"Please!" Khushi suggested as she followed Arnav.

After they got to music room all Arnav could hear was "Wow!" coming out of Khushi's mouth.

"This is such a beautiful music room. It's sad no one ever uses it." She said walking up to the piano. She started playing Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

She forgot a note and kept on saying, "Kehta hai mann.. Kehta hai mann.. Kehta hai mann.."

Arnav slid next to her and started playing. "Apna milan, duniya main, yaad gar hai... Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai." He looked at Khushi and they looked into each other's eyes and got lost in the moment. Khushi finally snapped out of it.

"I'm impressed, you play the piano too?"

"As an amateur." He said as he got up.

"So anyways, what else would you like to see? The dance floor, theatre?"

"Actually, is there a quiet, silent place on campus. One that is sort of isolated from the rest of noise and drama. One that you could escape to?"

Arnav was shocked. Could she get more like him? It was actually kind of creepy how similar they were.

"There is one spot but it's my secret spot. I might share it with you if you vow to keep it a secret." He said.

"Scout's Promise." Khushi smiled.

He grabbed her by the arm and ran.

They finally reached a spot. It was the college's old wing's attic.

"This? This is your peaceful spot." Khushi asked. Everything was dark and old.

"Wait here for a moment." Arnav said as he walked towards what looked like a window.

Just then a large flash of light hit Khushi's face. She used her hand to cover her face. Then she slowly removed it.

"Woah! This is beautiful." Khushi walked up to the window which was very big. It had the world's most peaceful and beautiful view.

"Oh My Gosh! I never knew there was a river behind our college."

"It's just a small stream. And it's just passes through the old wing. There are no signs of it in the new building. There aren't many classes here so people don't come by here often and especially not this room. And since this is the only room from where it can be viewed so well, no one really knows about it."

"Cool." Khushi said.

Arnav started to climb out the window.

"What are you doing?"

"Well, the attic is certainly not a peaceful place unless your idea of peace is the constant sound of rats. The actual spot is a bit ahead. Follow me."

"Yes sir." Khushi said. She was having difficulty climbing out.

"Need help?"

"No I'm fine." Khushi said as he started climbing out.

Just then her foot slipped and she started to fall.

"Woah!" she screamed before she felt herself in someone's strong, muscular arms.

"Close one." She said as she got up.

"Next time don't be afraid to ask for help." He said as he continued walking. Within 2 minutes they reached the place.

"Khushi, welcome to 'the spot'." Arnav said. It was beautiful. There were a couple of big rocks next to bunch of little ones by the stream.

"This is beautiful Arnav Ji. It's so peaceful and you could always manage to get a nice breeze here."

"Yup." He said as he took something out of his bag.

"Forgot this?" he asked taking his book out of the bag.

"Oh yeah!" Khushi said.

"Thanks." She said as he handed her the book.

"It's nice here. I think I might like it."

"So, we have 4 more hours to go. Want to see something else?" Arnav asked.

"Actually, I just might hang out here for bit."

"Same here." He said.

"So where are you from." Arnav finally said trying to start a conversation. Being 'the most unsocial person in the world' as Akash liked to put it, Arnav hadn't really 'hung out' with someone other than Akash before. Maybe his past girlfriends but her never brought any of them here but for some reason he felt it was ok to tell Khushi about his secret location.

"Liverpool. You?" she finally answered.

"London."

"Ah, London. Miss home?"

"Actually, to be quite honest, no. It's really hard to find peace there. I like it better here, it's tiring listening to mum and dad fight all day."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't kno.."

"No need to say sorry, what about you. Missing mum and dad?"

"Yeah," she said with eyes starting to tear up. "My mum died when I was 7. Now it's just dad and me. It get's kind of lonely. And don't say I'm sorry because you didn't know." She said with a smile.

Looking at how simple his tastes are, it's getting creepy how similar we are.

And I thought we were alike! Ha! Not even close! She said looking at him. Of course he didn't know she was following him but now she's glad she did. But he's not bad, just not notebook-perfect.
