Chapter 11Oh ho! Ab sharmana shuru mat kar dena." She laughed as Arnav started blushing.

They got back to the dorms and Arnav slowly led Khushi inside. He was about to leave when,

"Hey Arnav,"

"Yeah"

"Um, thanks. For everything."

"No Problem." He said with a soft smile.

Next Morning.

"Need a lift?" Arnav reeled in as Khushi was by the steps of the dorm waiting for Payal as they were gonna walk together.

Arnav was awestruck by Khushi who was wearing a simple white dress.

"Thanks but no thanks, I'm walking with Payal."

"Really?" an eager Akash called out from the passengers seat.

"Yeah," Khushi smiled at Akash's reactions to Payal's name.

"Arnav stop being a lazy bum and lets walk."

Arnav parked his car and jumped out.
"Akash why don't you wait for Payal. We'll get going."

The two were walking slowly and Khushi was slightly uncomfortable at Arnav's occasional adoring glances at her. She would usually shy away and look in the other direction but for some reason she didn't. she seemed exceptionally sad today.

"Hey. Khushi?" He snapped in front of her eyes.

"What' huh... ohh.. yes Arnav."

"Kaha khoi khoi ho? Koi mar gaya hai kya?"

"Who actually mom's barsi is coming up."

"Khushi, im really sorry. I didn't know. I.."

"Don't be, it's ok. You know she always wanted to see me settled. You know when I was little and played with my dolls, I would dress one up as a dulhan and she would dress up the dulha and would say that one day my prince would come riding on a horse and take me to a palace of happiness." She laughed with slight tears.

"She always wanted to see me get married." She smiled half-heartedly.

"But then why did she leave me? Leave me to grow up myself, faster than girls my age, to not have time for dreams, why?" They were at the college when she broke down.

Arnav grabbed her by the shoulders and picked her up. He placed a finger on her lips.

"Shh..." He pulled her into a hug.

Chapter 12

He let her calm down a bit. That was when she realized where she was and what she was doing. She ran out of his arms without turning back.

"Khushi?" Arnav said after he saw her run away like that.

He cursed himself for even asking what happened.

After classes, Arnav asked all of his and Khushi's friends where she was.

"Seems to me something is cooking up between you two." Shyam the jerk of the college called out as he saw Arnav frantically search for Khushi.

Arnav decided to ignore him but a crowd started to gather around him.

Shyam started circling Arnav.

"Aur nahi to kya? I mean who could've missed that passionate hug by the college gate. I feel bad for her boyfriend. What was his name... ah... Karan. Tsk tsk tsk, truly its really sad how people have to deal with such characterless girls."

Arnav was about to walk away when he saw Khushi watching the whole scenario from far. She ran off crying.

"Khushi! Wait!" He was about to run when..

"Haan Haan, wait upne ashiq ke liye."

That was it, for some reason, the beast inside Arnav was awoken. He wasn't gonna take this. He turned on his heel and charged straight for Shyam and punched him. There were gasps and oohs and aahs.

"Sachi main lagta hai ab to koi chakar chal hi raha hai."

"Dono pake Ashiq hai."

"Bechara Karan."

Those were all sorts of things you heard from the crowd.

Arnav rushed out of the place. He knew where he could find Khushi.

Chapter 13

Khushi heard some noise coming from the building, it was Arnav coming down from it.

Khushi didn't know what to do. There was no way she could hide. She had to face him.

"Khushi, you have to answer me now. Why did you run away like that in the morning? What happened?"

"Nothing Arnav."

"Khushi, there has got to be something."

"JUST GO AWAY ARNAV! WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT AFTER RUINING MY LIFE!" she screamed.

Arnav was heartbroken. What had he done? Why was she behaving like this?

He walked away. It was then Khushi realized what she had done.

"Wait!"

He turned.

"What now?"

"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me. It's just *sigh* *sits down on a boulder* when I made the notebook, my mum thought it was a wonderful idea, she loved everything that was written in it at the time. She said that she could picture my wedding with this notebook described raj kumar. And, I just think marrying someone who is "notebook perfect" would bring me that much closer to her. That's it, there isn't much to it." She cried.

"And then I found Karan. Sure he may not always be there but he was exactly the man described in the notebook. I don't want to lose him as that would ruin my chances of being one step closer to mum. And with all these rumors starting to spread. *sigh* I just don't want things to get out of hand. I can't lose Karan." She said looking at Arnav straight in the eyes with tears streaks on her face.

Arnav picked her up by her shoulders again.

"Khushi. Khushi tum chup ho jao warna main baat nahi karunga tumse. Khushi." He said while wiping her tears.

"Now that's like a good girl." He said.

"I'm sorry for unknowingly causing so many problems. If only had I known.."

Khushi felt so bad at the moment. What was he apologizing for, comforting a friend? Being there for her? Being there for her when Karan should have? Wait! No Khushi! You can't think of Arnav as anything like such. Don't compare him with Karan! He's Mr. Wrong! Wrong, wrong, wrong! But how? For caring for her, for standing up for her, for having all the qualities that matter in a partner? She looked at Arnav but now in a different way. Was he the one? She shrugged her thoughts off. No! Khushi Gupta is not going to fall in love! Because wasn't she already in love, with her notebook perfect beau? Notebook-perfect = that you love him right? Right? Of course I'm right!

"I gotta go now." She said.

Arnav watched her run off.

He'd seen a different side of her today. He for some odd reason felt the hug was necessary but never knew it would affect her in such a way.
