Prelude: Beintehaa Mohabbat:
When love becomes so overpowering that it takes over one's mind, body, soul, and heart; When protectiveness, possessiveness, guilt, expectations, and insecurities seize control; When communication comes to a standstill; That's when, the very love becomes the reason for one's destruction. The love, which is so intense, so prevailing, so omnipresent, that running away from it seems like the only coherent thing to do. Here is a story of two souls on the path of devastation, how their love sends them apart, how misery conquers love, and how the very love, brings them back together in a holy reunion.

The Tale: Bepanaah Pyar
Arnav stood there on the second floor balcony admiring the view of the placid surroundings of that Aamby Valley cottage, which was located next door to where his best friend's wedding was centered. He had clear visibility of the lake and the mountains in the backside gracing it. Sun was hiding behind the fluffy white clouds. He was so close yet peacefully far from all the chaos and happenings of the wedding preparations. Guests were flooding in. He was least bothered. Wedding was not until three days from now! He only chose to come there since all the events were starting from tonight, plus he badly needed to get away from the loneliness and stress the life of Mumbai deluged on him. Luckily two more people were there to fill in for him. He was glad he had left Mumbai for a few days. There was something about this place that gave his ever racing heart a much needed break. As he stayed there staring at the view, the thoughts of her beseiged his mind. He needed those thoughts to get away from him. That's why he was there, to forget her, to forget everything that had happened. But, the more he tried to forget, the more he thought of that fateful day when he was separated from his beloved wife Khusi! Actually, the day when she left him! Coincidentally it was exactly 6 months ago today!
Arnav tried to distract himself. Music had been his companion for the last 6 months in his time of solitude. He turned on the small radio that was sitting on the table nearby to soothe his restless mind. He couldn't figure out why he felt so uneasy when he was so far away from her. It was always the close proximity around her that made him get this blue. The RJ stopped talking and the next song started.

The song unwillingly took him back to his past, reliving all the sweet initial memories of when he had first met his soul mate Khusi. He had met her at yet another wedding. He had sat on his table, exhausted from all the running around and dancing, when he had spotted her on the dance floor, blissfully dancing away, lost in her own world, so beautiful, innocent, so full of life. He remembered how the world around him seemed to have stopped. She had gone on dancing, goofing around, and making funny faces at her friends the whole time as he watched her. Finally he had caught her at the dinner line and gathered the courage to start a conversation. There was no stopping them from there. There was an instant spark. They had spent the rest of the evening casually chatting away and had started meeting regularly thereafter. They were identical yet a stark contrast of each other. If he was practical and inexpressive, she only spoke her mind and let her heart guide her. If he was suave and witty, she was clumsy and raw. If he was calculative, she was impulsive. If he was soft spoken, she was loud and attention-grabbing. But they mostly loved the same things, same activities, and same hobbies. Before they knew, they were talking to each other all day and sometimes all night. They had become almost inseparable. She would every so often wake up in the middle of the night to call and tell him she had just dreamt of him, missed him, and wanted to see him right away. And many a times he had visited her in the late hours of the night, just for that reason. When he fell sick, she stayed up for 72 hours straight taking care of him, panicking and worrying for his wellbeing. In just a few months, they had decided staying away was now sheer torture and marriage was the only resolve to their misery.
As the song ended, the reminder of her positivity, her energy, and her vivacity momentarily re-infused life inside him.
Suddenly, he heard a familiar laugh. He looked down to the front of the cottage next door. And there she was! Looking absolutely divine adorn in white capris, white tube top, a beautiful black long necklace, black and white flip flops, and sunglasses! Graciously meeting everyone, still as full of life as ever. She picked up a little girl and played with her. It seemed like she knew everyone that was there. His heart ached at the sight of her. Why? Why was she here? Now what? "I will try to stay out of her sight as long as I can. I don't want to make things hard for her." he thought to himself.
He continued listening to the radio.

The first year of their marriage had been just heavenly. Their love for each other, their protectiveness, compassion, concern had just kept growing. They leaned on each other, and took care of each other like spring blossoming the flowers. Their conversations never seemed to end. He spoke less, loved more. She confessed more, and loved even more! They thrived on each other's presence.

But, as it always happens, as the love grows so do expectations. Arnav remembered how as fiercely and intensely as he loved her, he was not ready let her restrict him with her love. She had asked him to stop working as an ER neurosurgeon and join her father's practice so that he wouldn't have to be on call all the time and his hours wouldn't be so unpredictable. She expected him to lead a 9 to 5 normal life with her. He was shocked at her proposal. How could someone who was so understanding, have failed to understand the simple fact about his love for his work? He didn't fight with her, didn't say harsh things to her. He simply stopped responding to her. He expected her to understand him, she expected him to understand her needs. All she wanted was one mature conversation, just a little bit of time from him, to sort out all the open issues that plagued both their minds. He yearned to talk to her, he was edgy, desperate, and dying to talk to her again, but he didn't. He was too hurt. She meant to talk to him as well. Her undying love longed for his touch, his soft words, and his attention. But her ego too stopped her. How could he have thought wrongly of her intensions? When his silence became unbearable, frustrated, she walked out on him one very dreadful day!
And Arnav broke out of his trance as the next song started!
