Part 31:

This time when Nupur paid no heed to his words, next she saw both her hands caught by Mayank at her back while he looked at her seriously, in her eyes, with strictness. He could moderate a bit in behavior but getting childish COMPLETELY could hardly be on his list. He was Mayank and will always be.

Okay his hand holding had gotten a bit familiar with Nupur, though just a familiar feeling, but his closeness was not, not yet. She found herself looking deep into his brilliant eyes and while she breath demanded stability from her, she scolded it for trying to reveal her descriptively and ignoring all that, she allowed herself to search his eyes for something for her. Why all of a sudden she wanted to do it and why she was earnestly analyzing the softness in his eyes while his expressions were tough and stiff, she conveniently skipped. Plus, she was in his hold; well almost because as he had held her hands behind her, he as it is was half hugging her…so that made her think less already. She knew what this was called - blank! She was blankly looking at him and while Mayank looked back without any hesitation, in her eyes too, she felt confused, more for herself than at him.

Mayank didn't know how he had tried to come so strongly to her at her act. She was just looking like a child searching in his eyes with a small confused expression and while she held herself in her own position and tried to behave strong; her nervousness still gave itself away to Mayank as she blinked at him. How could she be so cute? He remembered smiling mildly as he hugged her tight out of the blue. He didn't know how he had held himself back this long!

While Nupur blinked to keep pace with his penetrating gaze suddenly, next she saw that she was being hugged by Mayank. She sighed automatically as he held her close.

Today, Mayank had found Nupur becoming a special part of his life. She was no longer just Nupur; rather she was The Nupur for him. She suddenly the one, he wanted to share his world with, everything. It was hard to explain why he felt so much love for her, no specific reason actually. But then, why did he need any reason to love her at all? He simply loved her for all of it that she had. Yes, it was a bit hard to accept love and such things for him but it was now, equally hard too to not accept it as love. Love can be so complex? He could tease its odd-happenings still, atleast! Whatever, that be, he wanted to hug her and thank her for just talking her way into his heart, for sharing a simple Chocolate Brownie with him, for walking a mile with him, for bearing with him even when he was rude to her sometimes, for hugging him for comfort when she seeked one at night while asleep, for smiling at him randomly while he could just barely share one of his with her, for trusting his words whenever she had shared her fear, or thoughts eversince they spoke of marriage, for being such a good friend of his Ma, for responding to him everytime whether or not he had asked for the same and for being the wife that she was beginning to become with her taking interest in all his activities…he didn't knew why but he wanted to actually sum it up to her…he blurted out, "Thanks"

While it must be assumed that for a guy like Mayank, when he says 'Thanks' in the way he said today, it must almost mean 'I love you', it is also not so a far fetched assumption today at all. It actually meant that!

It was odd although, that she hadn't moved away from him today, not a bad-odd thing though. He was only glad.

Nupur could only hug him back when he hugged her so protectively and possessively. She felt relief, a happy feeling that made her smile, inspite of her nervousness earlier, almost like a privilege, although she wasn't sure why that? It could only be him who would behave so. Who could hardly speak her mind to her and then talk her heart out so easily, the one who would act so stiff and casual but then turn to her side and hold her hand while she missed to look at her walk and end up scolding her for taking care, the one who would show strict expressions and the startle her with a hug and a 'Thanks'. It was so Mayank, wasn't it? Sweet! But…why a 'thanks'? She demended and voiced it out too.

Well, why? Did he have to answer this? He stayed mum for a while and then plainly said, still hugging her, "Guess!"

Okay now this was even more confusing, how could she guess that? She still made an attempt trying to see the obvious, "Tumse tumhare Dad ki baatein karne ke liye?"

Okay now as much as Mayank hadn't ever anticipated romantic moments, he knew this reply didn't fit well. He laughed a little and said, "Yes!" in sarcasm, without a tone of it though.

Nupur smiled and next she felt him moving his head in and giving her a soft kiss on her cheek and turning back to hugging her again.

She was shocked and still blushing. She was having a tough time now, as she saw her grip on him loosen and as much as that meant her cheeks spoke of red, she couldn't help but hide her eyes as he moved away to look at her.

She looked at him and away. Another attempt shot at his eyes and her condition just worsened. She realized her hands still on his shoulders and pulled those away as if that may help. Why she was much more comfortable in his arms that now here trying to look in his eyes?

Mayank saw her being utterly shy. Well, he should have guessed it already, he thought. She behaved all casual but freaked out at his closeness, he had seen that earlier too. He couldn't help a little laugh and while he got a look, which was a mixture or anger and nervousness at the same time, from Nupur, he helped himself a bit of a distance while he declared, "Good Night!"

Nupur was left wondering for a while until she found it weird to stay put, standing there doing nothing when she decided to divert her mind only too - was that too just a gesture for 'thanks'? Just that?

Well, she realized she was a bit too late now and Mayank was already readying himself to sleep now. Wouldn't that be weird to wake him up again and ask him? And come to think of it, what will she ask anyways?

She came and lied down beside him cautiously and was now looking at him intently while he already seemed sleeping, not to mention how she was half lost in her own thoughts and half in looking at him. Why was she doing it repeatedly today? Ogling at him that is! But then he left her not many choices now, did he? Being the guy that he was!

She heard a voice while she noticed his lips move too,"Nupur, kya tumhe aur bhi kuch kehna hai?"

OMG! Did he catch her and catch her right or what?

She saw him open his eyes that urged her an answer and she spoke up making something up, "Haan! Mu-mujhe Choco Brownie bahut pasand aayi…"

That was it! How stupid could she be, she wondered? All that she was thinking and wanted to ask him about and here she ends up saying THIS at nearly 4'o clock in the morning? She cursed herself at her mind's content! She decided to say another thing that she wanted him to know.

Mayank wondered if that was the truth. How could it be? May be he had made her way too uncomfortable today and now she was being all along nervous and trying to be so not the confident Nupur that she otherwise was! But how could he have helped himself? Should he apologize or what was he supposed to say? But he ought to say something atleast now!

He suddenly saw her smiling as she was looking somewhere else and making brave attempts to be back to normal from this stranger-extremely-nervous-Nupur that she was being, she said, "Aur tumhe bhi thanks! Mujh se apne dil ki baatein share karne ke liye…hamesha aise hi karna…kabhi kabhi sweet hona bhi tumhe suit karta hai!"

Okay, she had actually said more than she wanted too, much more. Her cheeks again flashed red colour while she just tried to maintain her subtle smile to him. She was NOT supposed to utter another word now, else she may come across as more stupid, she guessed.

Mayank smiled at her genuine confession. He thought she liked him too and he knew he was right, now. But the way she spoke her words rather shocking herself, that was endearing. This was getting so interesting!

He tucked her strand behind her ear and said a bit confused, "Par tumne toh kaha tha ki main rude hoon, ab sweet..ek baar decide kar lo?"

Nupur sighed. He had to poke her words at her didn't he? Couldn't he just ignore making thing come sharply in her face. She felt her cheeks warm up again in embarrasement. And did he just tuck her hair behind her ear? Was she suddenly being messy too or was it again…? Oh Oh, this was not a very understanding moment for her! And did she need to answer him still?

She looked at him feeling caught up in her own world of thoughts and words and said ,"Har insaan ke do sides hote hain achcha aur bura, isme confusion kaisa?"

Mayank gave a laugh as she pressed her lips together and breathed deep while he ended her testimony for today, atleast, saying"Ab strictly so jao, warna kal office ke liye late ho jayega!"

Nupur didn't make the same mistake of staring at him again and facing the other side, slept..finally!
