Before reading this part...remember the character sketch that I have given in the first thread, first page. Annie is 14 years old same age as Rajji. She is studying 9^th standard.

PART 44:

DAADI's eyes pops out...Seeing their closeness. What am I seeing...She rubs her eyes with her hands in order to reconfirm

Arre Arre...What's happening? Geet-Annie, you know each other.

Yes Daadima...Geet didi is the one who helped me with my studies when I had to stay in Bangalore.

Daadima's joy knew no bounds seeing Geet and Annie getting along so well with each other. she remembers Annie was missing this person from Bangalore but she never ever guessed it could be Geet.

A brief flashback:

About 3 years ago... Khurana Group of Companies faced lot of challenges in the business front and recession was an added problem...Maan's Daadaji had recently passed away leaving the complete responsibility on Maan and Daadi. Dev couldnt help much as he was irresponsible by nature and on top of that he was newly married and settled down in Canada for some time. Annie got in the age where she required more attention...She was just 11-12 years old; a over pampered kid who was very weak in her studies taking single digit marks. Maan or Daadi had set all priorities to the business and were worried about Annie. Hence Daadi called her youngest sister (Younger to her by 15 years) Kalyani Devi who lived in Bangalore, requesting her to take care of Annie for a year or two till these family and business issues get sorted out. Kalyani Devi was staying all alone as all her children and grandchildren are well settled and living in different places in Abroad. She happily agreed to help.

Annie started living with Kalyani Devi in Bangalore. All though Kalyani Devi took good care of Annie, she couldn't help Annie much with her studies. She was worried with Annie's Progress in studies and also Annie had a weakness in writing grip. She checked with many people around for sending Annie for extra tuition classes...but nothing was working out. Either good tutors were staying far away or the ones available close by were not good enough to take tuitions for important subjects. Annie needed more attention in Maths and Science...but it was difficult to find a tutor who can help her with this.

Finally one day...

At Geet's home in Bangalore...

It was evening time...Radhika is just back from her school and busy with her kitchen work. Geet and Rajji were studying when the door bell rang.

Radhika opens the door..

Hello...I am Kalyani Devi...I just live in the next street. I need to meet Radhika

I am Radhika...I guess we happen to see each other occasionally. Please come in

Kalyani and Annie walked in.

Well...I am a school teacher but the subjects which I have been focussing is English and Social Science...I may not be able to help you with Maths and science. But I will check with my other colleagues in the school. Give me few days time. By the way, which standard she is currently studying?

She is in 6^th Standard now.

Geet took very little time to find a way to deal with Annie. She takes Annie to her study room and tries talking to her.

I hate studies..I hate this tuitions...

But why? Don't you think Education is very important? Dont you feel like scoring more marks than your friends?

Annie started with her tuitions with Geet...she was progressing very slowly and in next six months to one year time...Annie showed good improvement in her studies...She was at least getting "Pass marks" and the red lines in her progress report started vanishing slowly. That was indeed a good progress. Also, Geet made sure She writes at least 2-3 pages daily to improve her writing skills

Kalyani Devi was also happy with this progress in this.

In next one year...Annie became a part of Geet's family, she became good friend with Raji. Daadi or Maan would occationally meet Annie. But would not stay more than a day as they have to get back to Delhi and take care of the busines.

Then once...Geet, Radhika and Rajji had been to Chennai for one week due to a family function. Co-incidentally, Maan was also there in Chennai and that is when Geet slapped him ...(Author's note: Remember Maan-Geet's first encounter in the first part).

Geet and family came back to Bangalore. Geet was a bit lost with that incident. Wishing to see that guy again... Annie was really bored to the core till Geet and family came back. Also, Maan left from chennai to Bangalore to meet Annie before going back to Delhi...even he was disturbed with what happened in Chennai...He's wondering why he's not angry on this girl...she actually slapped him...Wish he could get to see that girl again.

Bhai...This is not fair...you just came in the morning and going back in the evening...not done. I wanted to introduce you to my friends here...especially my tutor and her family.

I really wish dear...but cant help...you know I have to concentrate on my business...I promise to stay here for a week when I come next time.

Well...I didnt do much...I was doing combined studies for her along with my younger sister...so, actually, it was easy for me to take care of the situation.

But still...there is a good improvement in Annie.

She is a brilliant girl...but she was missing to understand it by herself...She needed someone to help her out with it...that's it.

There was a silence for a while. Both wanted to talk more but not sure what to talk...

Another one year passed by.

Annie gave her final exams for her 7^th standard. By now Maan took complete in charge of the business and Daadi started staying at home. Hence they decided to call Annie back to Delhi. Annie was missing Geet, Rajji and Radhika Aunty a lot. She was regularly in touch for six months and then lost contact.

Flash back ends...now back to present..(Almost one and half years years later)

Geet didi... What happened From the month of December onwards I was not able to reach you on the tel no which I had...Kalyani Aunty had also visited your home and it was locked. When enquired with some neighbours, they told that you people vacated from that place.

Geet gets restless...That was the time when she and her family had to leave to give last visit to Paati and then her marriage...She closes her eyes for a while and then answers...No dear...We had to stay in our village for some time. My grandmother was not keeping well.

Oh no Didi...how is she now?

Geet is sad again...She passed away. She was suffering form severe blood cancer. We all came back to Bangalore after finishing all her death formalities.

Daadi know about her grandmother's death...Geet had mentioned this in the very first meeting in the temple. Daadi pats on Geet's shoulder comforting her.

Most of our neighbours assumed that we went back to our village forever. That's when Kalyani ji has got to enquire about us.

Haan Didi...Kalyani Aunty is no longer staying there...she is settled down with her elder son in US. She left by the end of December last year.

Geet got little sad agin. Daadi decided to change the topic.

Geet continues...But Daadi...I must say, my mom and younger sister had tough time to obtain her friendship. It took 3 months for my mom to make friendship with her. My mom used to regularly call Kalyani ji and try to find out what all food Annie used to like and my mom made sure to make her fav dish atleast twice or thrice in a week.

Yah...and it took nearly six month for my sister Rajji...What not she use to do...she used to play Annie's fav games, she used to get Annie her fav chocolates and what not...finally they were friends after six months...And my Appa would regularly tell her hello...but she started answering taking her own sweet time...can you believe it?

Oh yah...what else can I expect from my granddaughter?

I heard from my operations manager, Aadi sir, that only he can visit boss home with official purposes and rest all can visit only when invited. I respect that fact...Anyways, why should I visit his home unnecessarily

Acha...what will you do if this happens to be your boss's home and what if he comes here in this room...Daadi just teases Geet.

Geet jumps with fear...Daadi, please don't say that...Anyways my boss is always looking for reasons to get angry on me...if this is his home and if he sees me here now, he will burry me alive.

Maan hears some talking and giggling sound when he's about to enter Daadi's room.

Annie told me that her tutor has come over here..but what is this, I am hearing Geet's voice and giggling. Why am I getting to hear her where ever I go? Why am I not getting over her thoughts that easily?

Maan entered the room...both Geet and Daadi turn to see him.

GEEET...he screams. Geet is shocked to See Maan and his anger filled face.

Daadi is not able to know what exactly going on and what is Maan upto.

Maan drags her to the corridor by holding her hand he stops at one point and then turns and twists her arm behind her. Its really hurting her. Nakul and other few servants got to witness this ruthless sight.

Geet is simply looking back at his eyes...pleading herself innocent.

Geet is all shocked...Sir I really dont know what your are saying...please leave me...you are hurting me.

Geet Didi...Maan hears Annie's voice. What is this? Annie is addressing her as Geet Didi...This Geet is ridicules...see, she has even mesmerised Annie who doesn't even make friends that easily.

Geet wiping her tears quickly and hiding her hand as it has finger prints of Maan's hands.
