Jay stood on the deserted road, looking at the stone which read :

He had waited for this for a long time, waited to find the man who had murdered his father all those years back and his elder brother, Neel, two years back. The traitor, betrayer werewolf, who had befriended a vampire, their age-old enemy, to kill Neel. He had watched Neel bleed to death in his arms,killed by vampire venom. He himself could do nothing to save his brother, as werewolves cannot neutralize vampire venom.. However, he had vowed to avenge his father's and his brother's deaths. His father was the one who had turned the traitor into a werewolf, but Jay would end that werewolf's life. It had taken him this long to hunt him down. But Jay also had another task to do. Being the last remaining member of the royal werewolf family, the Khuranas, it was upto him to keep his clan alive. He had heard about that traitor's offspring. He needed to convert that offspring into one of them to make sure that their clan continued. There were very few of them left now. But he would settle that matter later. For now, he would kill that murderer first.

"Chiraag Mehra, I'll show you what happens to traitors" he whispered.

SATURDAY MORNING

When Piya and Misha reached Kabir's house, they learnt that the meeting for the programme had been delayed. An aunt of Kabir's had fallen ill, and had been taken to the hospital. So Kabir and his parents had gone there. Piya thought it would be good if they went and visited Kabir's aunt, but Misha said , "No, Piya. U know that Mom and Dad left for Mumbai to attend the business meeting. No one is at home. We will take turns to visit his aunt. I'll go now. U go back home. U know I m blank when it comes to maintaining homes. And Mom will have a fit if she comes to know that no one was at home for a day. The hospital's quite far."

Piya smiled- Ok , Mish!

Misha grinned- I'll call U when I reach the hospital, 'kay?

Piya nodded- Go carefully, Mish. Don't drive like a maniac.

Piya started to walk back home. The sunny day had turned into a cloudy one, and a strong wind was blowing.

Luks like the monsoons are here, Piya thought, quickening her pace. Suddenly, a black car came out of nowhere and halted in front of her, blocking her way. The driver got out. Piya stopped dead. Abhay. O no, Piya, he must be angry after what U did last night. Politely go away, Piya said to herself.

"A-Abhay? W-were U coming to Kabir's house?" Abhay said nothing. He just started walking towards her, piercing her with his eyes. Piya automatically took a few steps back, her heart hammering. She could literally sense the anger oozing out of Abhay. "Ab-Abhay?" she stammered. " I was- um- I was going home-"

Abhay reached her and grabbed her arm, above the elbow, and inched his face closer to hers. " Come with me" he whispered.

"W-where?" Piya asked. She felt herself tremble, half out of fear, and half because Abhay was so close.

Abhay laughed without humour . "U will see soon. I m sure U will like it. Come on"

He pulled Piya towards his car.

"Abhay? Where are we going?" Piya asked timidly.Abhay did not answer. He pulled her deeper and deeper into the dark forest. He had driven up to the edge of the forest, and then had started pulling Piya into the darkness of the forest. Now, Piya could not even see the sky. She could hear a river roaring nearby. The first drops of rain fell on her face. She started to feel more afraid. She had never seen this Abhay before. "Abhay- "

Abhay let go of her with a jerk and turned around to face her. The rain was a steady drizzle now. Piya could not even see him properly, it was so dark.

Abhay- Here we are, Piya. The perfect place for U.

Piya – What-?

Abhay- U love interfering, right, Piya? Solving the unknown? So I am giving u something to do here. Why don't u try n find out the way out of the forest yourself. U are an intelligent girl. I am sure u will be able to find ur way out.

He started to walk away.

"Abhay!" Piya screamed. " What r u doing? Don't leave me here!" She rushed after him and grabbed his arm. "I am sorry ,Abhay." She was sobbing now, but the sound was drowned by the rain which was falling louder now. " I won't interfere again. I am afraid of the dark, Abhay. U can't leave me here. U r not cruel."

Abhay laughed- Cruel is a soft side to my nature, Piya. And I don't like anyone interfering with me. I m finished with u. Find ur way out of this place. It's ur fault. I m going.

He disappeared like the wind into the darkness and rain, leaving Piya alone. Piya screamed his name, but it was drowned by the sound of thunder.

Piya could not see where she was going. The darkness frightened her, the rain drenched her and mixed with her tears. How could Abhay do this? She would have accepted a slap from him even. But he left her in danger? Abandoned her? No. No.No.This was not Abhay.

Just then, she tripped on a fallen log and fell on her face. Her lips started to bleed. Feeling dizzy, she stumbled up. "Abhay",she whispered, her voice weaker now. She herself did not know how long she was here. In reality ,it was just half an hour but it seemed like eternity. She sneezed.She could hear the river more clearly now. I'll just sit there for a while, she thought.She stumbled towards the direction of the sound, but she did not notice that the ground suddenly sloped. She slipped and fell, rolling down, till she reached the bottom and became unconscious.

Abhay drove the car at breakneck speed, but even then, he could not get Piya's face out of hs mind. He had wanted to teach her a lesson , right? Make sure that she never came near him again? Then why wasn't he satisfied. He was feeling disgusted at himself, and Piya's fearful voice echoed in his head, stabbing him like a silver knife. He skidded the car to a stop, breathing deeply. The rain and clouds had turned the day dark. He shouldn't have left her alone there. What kind of a thing was he? So sadistic? He wrenched the car door open and rushed into the forest to find Piya. His heart was speaking to him again. Saying that she needed him.

"P-Piya?" Abhay knelt down beside the unconscious girl, his face all crumpled up and broken.He gently put her bleeding face on her lap. "Piya!Get up!I am sorry, Piya. Sorry! W-what happened to u? Why r u bleeding?" That was when he realized that Piya's face was covered in blood. BLOOD. Although the rain was washing it away, he could still see it. The animal in him reared, longing to taste, longing to drink in that delicious red.He could feel his eyes starting to turn red. No Abhay. It's Piya!Piya! She needs u. Come on. He closed his eyes, trying not to breathe. He pictured Piya's face, the way he had felt when he had danced with her, the way he had felt when he had kissed her and he slowly started to calm down. He opened his eyes slowly, staring at her face and took a careful breath. The monster in him reared again, but he could control it this time. He saw the cut on her lips. Without thinking further, he bent closer to her and touched his lips to hers. It was meant to be a healing kiss, but the moment their lips touched, he felt a jolt in his dead heart. He felt alive again. He could feel Piya beginning to stir, but he did not move. He closed his eyes and pressed himself closer. He knew the cut was cured, but he could not stop himself. He could feel Piya start to respond.He jerked himself away from her, realizing that he was actually kissing her. He forced himself to look at Piya, feeling guilty for what he had done and gently pulled her up.

Piya(blushing but feeling weak and dizzy)- Abhay-

Abhay(pulled her closer, staring into her eyes)- I am sorry ,Piya. I shouldn't have-

Piya(feeling more dizzy by his closeness and not at all angry or afraid)- It's okay, Abhay.(the rain is still falling).It –

Abhay(more to himself)- I am really a monster. Iwas so cruel. What was I thinking? I-

Piya put her finger on his lips to silence him. They gazed at each other.

Piya(softly)- Don't say that, Abhay. U r not cruel and neither r u a monster.

Abhay listened to her and thought sadly, I wish to believe to, Piya. But I am a monster of the worst kind, the monsters found in the dark.

Piya suddenly felt a throbbing pain on her forehead. She pressed her temples, letting out a groan of pain.

"Piya?" said, Abhay, alarmed. "What happened?"

Piya(pressing her temples harder)- Nothing, Abhay. I just have a headache. It's nothing.

Abhay got up suddenly and pulled Piya up in his arms. Piya looked at him, shocked and surprised.

Abhay(angrily)- What was I thinking? Letting u get drenched in this rain?Come on, I will take u back home.

JAISWAL HOUSE:

Abhay took out the door keys from Piya's pocket and unlocked the door. Carrying her in his arms, he entered the house. Then he let her down.

Abhay- I wish someone was at home. U don't look well, Piya.

Piya- Don't worry, Abhay.(can feel the pain in her head intensify) I just need a sleep, that's all. (sneezes).

Abhay- It's all my stupid fault. I don't believe this.

Piya(managing to glare at Abhay)- None is ur fault, u get me?U wait here, I will go change.

She stumbled upstairs to change. Just as she had finished changing, her cell phone rang.

O no, Mish! Piya cursed silently. I forget to take the cell. Now she will be worried.

She picked up her phone. "Hey, Mish. How is Kabir's aunt?"

Misha(practically screaming over the phone)- Where were u, idiot. I called so many times!!!!!!!!!!!Aunty is well but I was worried about u!"

Piya-mish, I left my phone at home yaar, sorry.

Misha-Well thank, god. Listen Piya, it's raining like hell, as I m sure u can see. Can't believe summers r over so fast. Anyways, I may not return today, Piya. The roads are not safe. I will come back early tomorrow, kay? Kabir might return too, so we can have meeting tomorrow. Hope u don't mind,sis.

Piya- Sure, Mish. No probs. Cya tomorrow.

As she cut the call and put the phone on her bedside table, she felt a sudden wave of dizziness and would have fallen if strong hands had not caught her. Piya looked up to see Abhay looking at her, worried.

"U need rest, Piya." He gently laid her on the bed and pulled the blanket over her. He touched her forehead with his cold hands. He could feel her burning.

"Piya! U've got fever!" he said alarmed. " I'll get some medicines."

He got up but Piya clutched at his arm weakly. "Don't worry, Abhay. As soon as the headache ceases, I'll be fine" Her voice becomes faint as she drifts towards sleep. " No one will be home tonight. I don't want to be alone, Abhay. Stay…don't…go.."

Abhay stared at her face and gently caressed her hair. He placed the cold palm of his hand on her hot head in order to soothe her, glad that his coldness actually provided relief to her. He watched her features relax as she drifted off to sleep. He slowly massaged her temples. Her hand was still clutching his arm as she slept. He didn't remove his hand. He slowly kissed her eyelids and then put a light peck on her lips. Then he lay beside her and pulled her head on his chest, his chin resting on her soft hair. He watched her sleeping, hearing her heart beat, and for the first time in his vampire life, he felt like he was living again.

"Wake up, sleepyhead!"

Misha's loud voice jerked Piya out of her sleep. For a moment, she looked confused. "Mish? U r supposed to be at the hospital, aren't U?"

Misha (looking irritated as she went to pull back the window curtains.The sun was shining again, although there were clouds)- And U were supposed to lock the front door at night, weren't U? I came back early this morning and found the door unlocked. Honestly, Piya! I thought I was the careless one!

Piya-I didn't have to worry. Abhay was there.(She suddenly blushed, realizing that she had asked Abhay to stay for her. She felt perfectly fine now)

Misha(confused)- Are U okay? I mean, U sure u didn' bang ur head somewhere? Abhay? Here? What's the matter with U?

Piya(blushing harder now, realizing that saying Abhay's name in front of Misha was not a good idea)- Well yeah, he was here. Didn't U see him?(now starts to wonder where he is)

Misha(thinking that Piya needs to visit the asylum)- U have lost it, sis. Were U dreaming of him in ur sleep? U must have a vivid imagination. Anyway, can u get ready. Kabir has agreed to have the meeting today. He's back. So get ready dreamer.

Shaking her head, she left the room. Piya was still blushing. She touched her lips, where she remembered, Abhay had kissed her last night. She suddenly remembered that she had cut herself on her lips. But it seemed perfectly fine now. Had Abhay healed her again? She felt curious again. What are U hiding, Abhay? I need to find out.

RAICHAND MANSION:

Chand and Haseena were standing near the fireplace. Although it was day, the windows were closed and the curtains were not pulled back, making the room as dark as night. The only light came from the flickering fire in the fireplace, which threw their shadows on the wall.

Chand(walking over to the high-backed chair and sitting down on it)- Something will happen, Haseena(closes his eyes and breathes in deeply)- It's in the air.

Haseena(looking at him, a worried frown on her face)- What is it, Chand?

Chand(opening his eyes again and looking into the fire)- Something pre-decided by destiny, Haseena. I don't know what it is. I just know that a tale is about to be written, and that all the characters are in the right place now. I knew it from the moment I saw the connection between Piya and Misha.

Haseena(sharply)- What about those two?

Chand(standing up and walking towards her)- Soul sisters, my dear Haseena. (looks at the stunned look on Haseena's face)-They don't know it yet. Their earthly bodies haven't yet realized the intense bond their souls share. Hard times may make them realize about it.And the fact that Piya and Misha are not own sisters- Piya and Misha have been pulled towards each other. That is why they are together, Haseena. U know that Piya is adopted , Abhay told us-(stops abruptly and then speaks again)- And Abhay and Piya- something-

Haseena(interrupting him)- And speaking of Abhay-did u realize where he was last night, Chand? With Piya! And when I confronted him, he was so rude! Chand, he's falling for that human again. I don't want him broken again, Chand-

Chand(in a calm voice)- Haseena. Haseena. Don't worry. Times that are to come will be tough, but u need to be strong. We may be strong creatures, but we are all helpless against Fate. Abhay and Piya are intertwined together(sees her worried)- If fate wants it, there is nothing we can do. But we will always be there to protect him, Haseena. He is our son now. And I must fulfill my promise to my dear brother, Rigel. At all costs, I will protect him from harm.

JAISWAL HOUSE: PIYA'S ROOM

Piya had just finished combing her hair when her cell phone rang. She hurried to pick it up. Although the number was not saved, she knew who it was. With excitement, she picked up her phone and pressed the green button.

"Abhay?" she whispered, pressing the phone to her ears.

His voice sounded husky over the phone. Piya loved the way it was making her feel. " Piya? Good Morning. I hope u r fine."

Piya(feeling happy that Abhay had called her)- Yes Abhay.(she loved saying her name). I m perfectly fine now. T-thank u(She blushed slightly)-For being there last night.

Abhay(feeling pleased but in his usual expressionless voice)- Glad to know u r fine.I left before Misha came. I didn't want to disturb u, so I left without telling u.Well, I m keeping the phone.

Piya(hurriedly)- Abhay! Listen. We will have the programme meeting at Kabir's house today.At 11. U will come.(blushed as she realized she was ordering)- W-won't u?(she added hurriedly.

Abhay, on the other side , felt happy. Piya wanted him to come. Don't be stupid, Abhay. U r acting like a schoolboy in love. U r a vampire, remember. Say no to Piya. Say u won't go as u r busy.

"Yes." he heard himself saying. "Yes, I will be there." He heard Piya's happy intake of breath. " Take care, Piya." He whispered, as he cut the call.

HOTEL SKYSTAR,ROOM NO.111

Jay lay on the bed on his back, staring at the ceiling. He needed to search for a house where he could stay. That way, the task of finding out things would be easier. If Chiraag searched for him at hotels, he would become untraceable. He knew Chiraag would get his scent eventually, at the full moon, but he intended to stay hidden before that. Finding a temporary home wouldn't be hard, especially since he had the Khurana name with him. They were the owners of two large companies.

"I'd better start searching",he thought. It is only two days to the full moon.
