Ok...so this update opens up to what happened in the past...so you guys can understand the situation.
Also it sets the stage for the next part of the story; wooing Geet.

Chapter 21: Men will be men
Dear Iman,
Things are getting worse,

PRESENT:
Geet felt like an evil dictator as she stood in front of her medical students. As a visiting doctor at the hospital she had been asked to take a bedside tutorial for a group of students in the emergency department.
While she didn't want to scare them into silence, she knew that a stern face was necessary to earn their respect. After all she was hardly older than them and the fact that she was a young woman surgeon meant that she stood out like a sore thumb. She felt like a mother duck with her ducklings as she led them to ED.
"Ok so first we are going to pick a random patient at ED and then we'll go through the basic steps in managing the patient." She explained to her group. There were varying degrees of interest from them; some looking excited, others bored and some of the boys blatantly checking her out.
Oh dear! Boys will be boys regardless where they are from, she thought with amusement.
She went up to one of the nurses and inquired into which patient would be the most appropriate for the students to see. The nurses were the ones who knew best about the patients because of the amount of time they spent with the patients. They had the control of the hospital despite the illusions patients held.
The nurse was more than willing to help her. "Hmmm'Dr Handa I think bed 10 would be the best. The patient has-"
"Don't tell me anything about the patient yet." Geet said with a smirk. "Let's see whether my ducklings, the students, can pick up what's wrong." The nurse shook her head in amusement at her tactics but still directed her to the right bed where there was a young man, probably in his early twenties. He was strikingly handsome, with deep brown eyes and a very muscular body covered by a black leather jacket. His hair was dangling in front of his eyes, giving him a broody look.
As she stared at him, she was shocked by how familiar he looked yet she knew that she had never seen him before. She could have sworn that she had seen him somewhere. The shape of his lips and eyes were definitely recognisable but she couldn't place where she had seen them.
The man seemed amused by her scrutiny and raised a single eyebrow to show his awareness of her gawking at him.
Geet quickly composed herself, letting her professional side takeover.
"Hi. I am Dr Handa, one of the doctors here. As you probably know, this is a teaching hospital with medical students. So would you mind if these students ask you some questions?" She asked quickly.
Something flashed through the man's eyes. Geet thought it seemed as if he was both surprised and pleased but she couldn't be sure. But he readily agreed to her question. "Sure, I don't mind."
"Ok'so Sharma what do we first do?" Geet asked one of the students.
"Umm'well I guess I would begin by asking what had happened to bring him in." The boy said hesitantly.
"Wrong Sharma! There is something else you need to do. Kumar, what would you ask?" Geet was starting to get frustrated at the students. "Think clearly!"
"Ummm'.take consent?" Kumar blurted out nervously.
"Yes! You have to make sure that you take consent from the patient before you ask any further questions. As a medical student this is vital."
After Kumar had taken consent from the man, another student stepped in to ask basic questions.
"Umm'what is your name and what happened to bring you in here?"
"I am Vicky and I had minor accident on my motorbike."
And so went the questions for the next few minutes. Geet tried to keep track of the students, making sure that they were taking an appropriate history. But inside she was distracted. Her instincts were telling her that this man had a hidden agenda. He was looking at her as if he was gauging her.
After the history taking was over, Geet told her students to watch her as she examined the patient.
"Ok so first of all you have to look at the patient's general appearance. That is one of the most important parts of any assessment." She explained as she went along assessing Vicky. As she looked at the wounds she was a bit confused. She could have sworn that the pattern didn't match the detail of the accident and it seemed more clean than it should be. They looked almost like they were done intentionally.
But she interrupted by Dev who had come rushing into the cubicle.
"Vicky! What the hell happened?" Dev sounded anxious and worried. "I saw your name on the board!"
"Relax." Vicky hardly seemed perturbed by Dev's concern. "Everything is ok. It was just a minor accident. No breaks or anything."
"Umm'you two know each other?" Geet questioned in confusion.
Dev looked at her as if she was missing a few marbles. "Of course I know him! Geet this is my brother, Vicky. I told you about him."
Vicky on the other hand had known very well who she was.
Hmm'Geet Handa. Well soon to be Mrs Khurana if Maan bhai has anything to say about it. Well time to find out more about you.
"Don't worry, I am just the forgotten brother." Vicky had the minute smirk lingering on his lips. "I am neither the boss nor the healer. I am just the wonderer in the family. You on the other hand are very popular, I've heard a lot about you."
Again it struck Geet that this man knew something. His tone and words held a secret. But she didn't know how to find out about him, instead she just gave a bland reply. "Hmm'nice to meet you."

"You ass*****" He shouted while jumping off the chair and punching Seb right on the face.
But Seb punched him back in the stomach. It was almost as if he was not only expecting the punch but pushing for it. That was all it took for a war to break out. In a few seconds both were on the floor hitting and kicking each other.
Both of them were venting out their respective angers. Maan was beyond furious at Sebastian for all that he had said and his relationship with Geet. Seb on the other hand wanted to take a small revenge on Maan because of the amount of pain Geet had to endure.
As they fought, they tipped over a table as well as one of the waiters. By this stage everyone in the restaurant were staring in amazement and horror.
Naintara felt like a school teacher with two boys in detention. Everything had happened so quickly that she had been gaping like a fish out of water.
It had taken both her courage and strength to stop the two from beating each other black and blue. She had somehow managed, with the help of the restaurant manager, to pull them off each other. After that both seem to come into their senses and just glared at each other. She didn't fail to notice that there was a certain satisfaction in Seb's eyes.
"What on earth are you two doing?" Naina admonished the two. "Maan bhai what happened?"
Maan just glared in response. He wasn't willing to explain himself to anyone.
The poor manager couldn't kick them out of the restaurant because Maan Singh Khurana would have killed him for the insult. So he had been hovering around the table, trying to give a hint which made Naina take pity on him and somehow she had convinced the two to leave with her.
The drive back home had been tense as well as amusing for Naina. Tense because the two men were like wounded lions, waiting for the right moment to attack again. It was amusing because she couldn't help enjoy the fragility of male ego. All three were silent as they were not sure of what to say to each other nor did Maan know how to explain his outburst.
Maan was on the other hand fuming inside; both at himself and at the idiot.
Maan how could you let yourself get carried away like that. Despite the fact that idiot, ass, loser'.well that "thing" commented on my Geet I shouldn't have punched him.
I need to get more information from this man about their relationship. She won't talk to me, so he is the best source of information before I get rid of him from her life. I need to be logical instead of emotional when dealing with this guy.
Though I do have to say that there was definitely a certain satisfaction in punching the idiot! If he thinks that he'll ever marry Geet then he is delusional.
As they reached Khurana Mansion, silence still reined but both the men were plotting in their heads for the next step in their plan.
Seb was thinking of how he could corner Maan so that he could find out more about his feelings. He was quite confident at this stage that Maan was in love with Geet but he wanted to know more about Maan's views about Geet.
But before he could think of what to say, Maan handed him the perfect chance.
With a gruff voice, Maan managed to say. "Look'why don't we just put this behind us and have a drink?"
Inside Seb was jubilant but he just gave a curt nod to Maan to show his agreement to the idea.

PAST:
Sameera's heart was pounding as she girded herself to talk to Maan. She was genuinely fond of Maan, after all they had been friends for a long time. He had always been the epitome of honour, loyalty and integrity.
Even when she had been so scared by the scandal that had spread through the media, a part of her had known that Maan was a gentleman and would never let her reputation get sullied. Most importantly she didn't want Virender to go away from by the assumption that she was with Maan.
She had known that his initial response to the scandal would have been to say that they were in a relationship, to stop everyone from judging her. But it wasn't something neither would have wanted.
To her immense surprise he had instead dealt with the rumours by giving a press conference where he denied any relationship between the two and instead maintained that they were really good friends. He had also, somehow, managed to make the media look bad by saying that they were irresponsible and that the scandal had affected her health. As usual when Maan Singh Khurana talked, everyone not only listened but also believed. Just like that her problems had been solved.
He was the last person she wanted to betray, yet she couldn't help herself. She had fallen head over heels in love with Virender. She knew that society might not approve of her love, but age didn't mean anything to her. She knew that he had so much more experience than her and that there had been many women before her but loving him was out of her control.
"Maan, how are you?" Sameera tried to open a conversation with a seething Maan. "It's been so long since we spoke. I don't even know where you went."
"I was busy. Actually I am still busy, with all the crap that my father has raised." His eyes were flashing in anger, causing Sameera to shiver a little in fear.
"Maan'you know you can talk to me about anything. I'll listen to you." She tried to convince him to open up.
A strange look past through Maan's face, as if he deciding whether to open up to her but just then Dadima called out for Maan through the intercom.
"Sorry Sam'I better go and see what happened with Dadima." Maan was slightly relieved that he could leave without having to explain anything to Sam.
Sameera on the other hand was in a state of dichotomy with equal feelings of frustrated and relief as she watched Maan walk away. She needed something to bring back to Virender. He had asked for her to find out Maan's weakness but she had no idea how to go about it. Another part of her still resisted betraying Maan.
Just as she was having these gloomy thoughts she noticed a mobile flashing on Maan's table. With a small amount of hesitation she reached out for the phone.
Iman is everything okay? I am so worried that I haven't heard from you! Missing you so much'waiting with more love than should be possible. Yours forever.- Belle.
Sameera was equal parts confused and surprised. Why was this girl texting a man called Iman? Her curiosity got the better of her and she scrolled through the messages and calls on the phone.
All of the calls and messages were from one person; Belle. She was even more amazed reading the messages Maan had sent her; they openly professed love for her, yet he was using another name.
The only thing she could understand was that Maan must really love this girl, otherwise he would never send such messages. He was not the sort to mess with anyone's heart even if he had many girlfriends in the past. All the women in his life had known that he had no emotional attachment to them.
It hit Sameera that she had found Maan's weakness. It was this girl! Hardening her heart against regret and hesitation, she snatched the phone from the table and left the room.

Seb was amused as he sat opposite to an obviously angry Maan who was trying to appear calm and nice. But the poor man was not successful in hiding the obvious anger he felt for Seb.
"Thanks for bringing me here." Seb gestured towards the study, where Maan had brought him. He reached forward and took the tumbler of whiskey in his hand. "Hmmm'nice whiskey. Must be quite old."
Maan watched the other man in parts disgust and impressed as he saw the way Seb chugged down the 100 year old Irish whiskey as if it was soft drink. The thing was worth its weight in gold, yet the fool was not bothering to savour it.
"So do you want to tell me what happened in the restaurant?" Seb wanted to see what response Maan would give for his violent behaviour.
Maan searched for a good reason, not wanting to give anything away, but could only come up with a lame excuse. "Ummm'I thought I heard you say something else."
Inside Seb was sniggering at the lame excuse. But he pretended to believe it. "Oh that's okay. Things like that happen."
Maan was surprised that Seb actually believed him. What an idiot! How dumb is he? He was blissfully unaware of the evil plans going around in Seb's mind.
"Hmmm'let's have another drink." He encouraged Maan, pouring another glass of whiskey for him. "One for me, one for you."
Half an hour later Seb could barely contain his laughter as he watched a drunk Maan. The poor man had been cajoled into drinking glass after glass of whiskey, unaware that Seb had a ridiculously high tolerance for alcohol.
"A HUNDRED BOTTLES OF RUM!!!" Maan shouted out. "A HUNDRED BOTTLES OF GIRL'oh no'RUM!"
"Ok'you'll get more rum but first tell me about Geet." Seb tried to direct the conversation to Geet.
"You can't ma-marry her!" Maan slurred out. "I'll ki-kill you! She is mine, only mine! YOU B***** KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF!"
"Okay, I won't marry her but tell me more about you two." Seb tried to wheedle more information out from Maan. "How do you feel about her?"
"I lurrrveee her!" Maan said in a sing song voice. "Lurrveee her!"
"I know mate'I know!" Seb could barely contain his laughter, it took all his efforts to hold on but he managed to. "Now why don't you tell me what happened between the two of you?"

Meera, Naintara and Seb sat on the bed in Meera's room discussing Geet and Maan. The three were trying to analyse the situation.
"Well I am sure now that Maan loves Geet. He loves her a lot." Seb accepted this fact gracefully. "A drunken man can't lie and he was gushing out about her."
"I can't believe you got him drunk!" Naina was still in shock with Seb's tactics. "The poor guy!"
"Look just cause I accept that he loves her and even if I am going to help him, doesn't mean that I don't want him to suffer just a bit. After all that Geet has gone through, it's only fair." Seb was very passionate as he argued to Naina about this.
"I had no idea that you had a death wish!" Naintara retorted to Seb. "The way you were taunting Maan Bro I was sure that your days were numbered."
"Don't tell me that the ice queen was worried about me?" Seb taunted back. "I would've thought that you would have been glad if I died."
"Who said I wouldn't be glad?" Naina said angrily. "I would kill you myself!"
"That's enough! Can you two please focus?" Meera interjected, plainly annoyed at the pair. "What should we do now?"
"Well the difficulty is in making Geet accept Maan. So for that we need to make Maan understand what Geet values the most." Seb stated his view.
Almost instantly the three looked at each other and said simultaneously "Meliara!"

A drunken Maan slowly walked into the room. He stared with love at a sleeping Geet. A part of him knew that it was wrong of him to come here because she would be horrendously angry about it. But with the alcohol flowing through him he couldn't hold back. He just wanted to be with her.
He sat on the bed next to her and leaned forward so that their foreheads were touching. He just took in her presence, wanting to savour the peacefulness and serenity of the moment. Just being with her brought him peace.
"I love you." He murmured. "You are my heart and soul. You are everything for me. These few years were barren without any respite without you. I would have bartered my soul for a moment more with you, to rewrite history."
He brushed his lips across her, just wanting to get a small taste. "I promise I'll fix everything." He spoke against her lips. "Even if it is the last thing I do, I'll make sure we regain our trust and love. Nothing else matters."
His fingers lingered on her cheeks but as he turned around he saw a small body next to Geet's. He gave a small smile as he looked at Meliara. "She is so much like you. The same eyes, the same nose and the way she stares. I think I knew from the moment I saw her that she was connected to you."
He laid down next to Geet putting his arms around her. It was like a balm for his pain; holding her comforted and soothed him. "I love you so much." He closed his eyes, letting sleep takeover.
