I am always amazed at the support you lot give! See I didn't make you guys wait that long! 😆
Okay this update gives a bit more of an insight into VSK...but is also quite funny with Seb's plan..
I didn't proof read it (as usual) so ignore the crappy grammar at parts and hopefully you all enjoy!

Chapter 20: Pawns in the game
Dear Iman,
Things are crazy without you.
I feel like a leaf floating around,
No destination, no aim
Waiting for the wind to pick me up
And to carry me to you,
Yours forever
Geet.
PRESENT:
This time Seb's face lit up with an evil grin. "Easy. The best way to tell whether a man loves someone is jealousy."
"Jealousy? Who are you trying to make jealous?" A voice cut across from the doorway. Both Seb and Naintara gave a guilty start but were relieved to see that it was only Dev and Meera. "I can't believe that two of you are actually talking without attacking each other." Dev smirked. "It's a bit scary. Don't tell me you guys are plotting something."
Naintara and Seb exchanged a look. They were hesitant to include the other two into the plan. Dev was Maan's brother and they didn't want him to get caught between the two. Meera on the other hand was too sweet to take part in any devious plans. Also she was a horrible liar. If Geet questioned Meera she would fold and blurt out the truth.
On the other hand they might be able to help with the plans.
"Okay, here is the thing. Do you know about Maan and Geet?" Seb questioned. "Your brother is apparently the guy...well the guy who Geet fell in love with." Seb didn't want to put down Maan to Dev, so he tried to downplay what had happened.
Dev and Meera on the other hand looked shocked at the fact that Naina and Seb knew about Maan and Geet. "How on earth did you find out?" Meera demanded.
"Umm'well that is not important." A guilty Naintara stammered out. She didn't want to tell the others that she had eavesdropped into the conversation the two had with Maan. "The important point is that Seb and I think that we should help the two get together. There is a lot of misunderstanding between the two, so we should clear those."
"NO!" Dev emphatically rejected the idea. "I am not helping you with that."
"Look Dev we aren't going to get them married tomorrow or anything like that. We just want to see if Maan truly loves Geet'and if he does we can help to clear the air between them." Seb tried to bring Dev around but Dev stood his ground.
"I am not helping'end of story."
"Why?" Seb questioned him. "He is your brother. Don't you think that he is reliable?"
"My brother has always been my mentor. He has never done anything wrong in my eyes." Dev had a shattered look in his eyes as he talked about Maan. The other three could feel his restrained anger as well as sadness. "I thought he could do no wrong. But he got a girl pregnant. He got Geet pregnant! And he left her. How can I help him after that?"
Meera took a long look at Dev , gauging his emotions before she turned back to Seb. "Sebastian I'll help you."
"But Meer-" Dev tried to protest.
"Dev don't you think those two deserve a chance? I don't know whether Maan is guilty or not but Geet needs closure. She needs to know the whole truth and she also needs to accept Maan before she can move forward; either with him or without him." Meera tried to explain her point of view to him. "I don't want Geet to be heartbroken for the rest of her life. She deserves love." There was a hollow look in Meera's eyes that Dev couldn't glance away from.
With a sigh he conceded to the others. "Fine...I won't actively help you guys but I won't get in your way either." With Meera on their side, he could hardly disagree.
"Okay..so this is what you have to do." Seb began to explain his plan.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Maan paced in his room he knew that he would have to change tactics. He had assumed that she was the same girl he had fallen in love with four years ago. But things had changed, she had changed. She wasn't willing to listen to his side of the story. And this meant reassessing his plan.
Today he had gotten a good glimpse of the woman she was now and as such had a better understanding of her weakness. Well apart from him, because he knew just as she was his weakness he was hers.
She obviously was very dedicated to her profession, or calling might be the way she saw it. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible for a young woman to be so successful in such a competitive field. After all not just anyone got the chance to be a cardiac surgeon.
From what Meera and Dev had explained and shown him, he also understood that she valued her friends and loved ones a lot. That didn't surprise him for he knew that she was a loyal person. Once she gave someone her trust and love, they would have it forever. He had to believe that deep inside she still had that love and trust for him as well.
He also knew that there had to be a deeper reason for her getting a fiance. His heart and soul could not reconcile to the fact that she might love someone else; it was impossible. He could never break the bond that existed between them and she would similarly be incapable.
Okay'now it's time to trap Dr Handa'.I've been hoping that you would realize what you mean to me but it seems that time is running out. I didn't realize that you would take the drastic action of acquiring a fiance.
You can hide your feelings for only so long Geet...and I'll make sure that you accept the love we share.
With a sigh Maan took out his phone and made a call that he would rather have avoided. But desperate times called for serious measures. Adi had failed to bring in any new information nor could he track the person responsible. It was time to bring in a professional.
"Hi Vicky, it's Maan. I need your help with something."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PAST:
Virender looked across at the female lying next to him in the bed. He felt mild disgust mixed with potent lust as he stared at her half bare body. He lightly brushed a hand across her hair.
Sometimes it's just too easy to manipulate people, especially woman. Like puppets on a string, ready to move at my command. This stupid girl is just like all the others.
"You know what you have to do." He harshly spoke to her while he tugged roughly at her hair. "I want you to find out Maan's weakness."
"Yes darling, I know." Her pupils were dilated with lust, while her moist lips parted in open invitation which he immediately seized upon.
"Remember it...or else" He murmured the threat directly against her lips but it acted to only heighten her desire.
"Yes..as long as you remember your part of the bargain." She managed to gasp out. "Marry me."
Virender gave a small smirk but still said "Of course..of course Sameera."
Now watch out Maan. You won't even know what hit you.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maan swore angrily as he watched the news. He wanted to smash the television actually he would prefer to destroy the whole room.
The b***** is going to suffer for this. How dare he dishonor my mother's memory?
All the channels were broadcasting interviews of Virender Singh Khurana. He was telling the media how he believed that his wife had been pressured to change her will before her death by the rest of the family and he wanted to "avenge" that sin.
Avenge? What does he want to avenge? He is the one who destroyed my mother's life!
Even with all the turmoil the main regret that Maan had was that he still hadn't contacted Belle. There just wasn't any time with all the havoc Virender had created. It was taking all his efforts to manage the media, as well as trying to placate Dadima. So had put off calling her, deciding to call her when things will be a bit calmer and he wouldn't be as stressed. After all he knew that she would always be there for him, he just needed some time.
But every moment he could only think of her. Even while he was busy with his lawyers he would swear he felt her around him, giving him support. Her presence surrounded him. It was as if the time they had spent together had forever joined her spirit to his. He would no longer live life alone, for her essence would continue to shadow him.
I love you Belle'I love you so much. I never thought that these words would have such depth and meaning in my life but you changed everything about me. I wish you were here with me. I wish I could have you by my side. But I am not worried because I know that you love me just as much as I love you. I know you'll be there for me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As Geet was lying down on Nonna's bed she tried to analyse the route her life had taken and what she had to do now.
It had taken all of Geet's persuasive skills to elude Seb's questions. She had managed to make him understand that she wasn't ready to tell him anything but that she would at the right time. He had been reluctant to agree but she had given him no other choice.
She had no idea how to explain Iman to everyone or anyone. They would not understand and she was sure that they would judge her. After all who was insane enough to fall in love with a stranger?
But the truth was that he was no stranger. She knew the parts of him that were important. They had disclosed all parts of their personality. Names and jobs were meaningless when you knew the core of a person.
It was these thoughts that made her strong. She held on to the faith that she had in him, the belief that she had in their love. Otherwise she would have crumbled in the doubts supported by the loneliness that was building up. Her belief in him was so strong, that despite everything she knew he loved her.
She held back from calling him because she wanted to maintain that faith. If she gave in and called him it would signify that she had doubts.
So she waited, clutching on to her love as life support to buoy her through this pain of separation. She found solace in her letters that was filled with nothing significant, yet held more meaning than anything else at the moment.
She was jerked out of her melancholic thoughts by Nonna's entrance into the room. She was carrying a plate of cannoli. It was Geet's favourite dessert and as such Nonna had made it for her as a special treat.
"Here bambina, eat it." Nonna ordered as she sat next to Geet on the bed. "I don't want to see even a single piece left over. Remember no man likes a flat woman." She gestured towards her chest. "All women she have some meat at the top. So fatten up!"
Despite the pervasive sadness filling Geet, she couldn't help but giggle at Nonna's theatrics. "Oh Nonna you are a drama queen!"
Nonna gave a small slap at the back of Geet's head before muttering about ungrateful young girls who didn't eat enough.
"Okay Nonna I am eating it." Geet said while eating the cannoli. She was too busy eating to notice the intense scrutiny she was receiving for Nonna.
"Bambina e tutto okay?" (Is everything ok baby girl?) Nonna suddenly asked Geet. "Bella you seem upset..no not upset but sad. What happened?"
"Sto Bene Nonna" (I am alright.) Geet lied, trying to placate Nonna.
But Nonna wasn't buying it. She could see the shadows in Geet's eyes and instinctively felt that something was bothering her. "Dimmi la verita." (Tell me the truth.)
Another lie was right at the tip of her tongue, ready to convince Nonna that she was fine, but somehow it wouldn't come out. She knew that despite the fact that Nonna was a strict Roman Catholic, with a highly conservative outlook, she would never judge Geet harshly. Maybe she would call her stupid and say a few more words but the matter would stay between them and she would listen to all her problems.
"I am in love Nonna." Geet murmured while resting her head on Nonna's lap. She told Nonna everything; about how she met Iman, how they fell in love and how he left. She told her about how she felt without him and the pain that was overtaking her.
She obviously didn't tell Nonna about them sleeping together but Nonna was hardly a simpleton. She could fill in the blanks and had understood what had happened.
"Cara I won't say that it is wrong to fall in love with a stranger nor am I going to say that everything is going to be alright." Nonna softly spoke while stroking Geet's hair. "I won't even say that love will triumph over everything. All I will say is that you are a strong person. Bella I've seen you since you were a baby and I know what you are capable of. Even if things don't go the way you wish, I know you'll move forward."
Geet felt humbled by the faith Nonna had in her. "But Nonna how do you know that? I have never felt so helpless and I certainly don't feel strong."
Nonna gave her a sad look. "Tesoro (darling) I know because I see myself in you. We women are much stronger than we give ourselves credit for. You may not feel like you can battle the world but when the time comes I know you'll be able to take care of yourself. Just the way I did after Roberto died. But I had found the strength to go on and to love again."
As the two women shared their sorrows they were unaware that someone was hearing their heartfelt conversation.
Sebastian tried to rein in the feelings of shock as he listened to his best friend talk about falling in love to Nonna. He felt betrayed as he thought about the fact that Geet hadn't confided in him. Growing up they had shared everything, yet she had held back this time.
But he also felt upset that his friend was going through all this. He wanted to console her but didn't know how.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After her visit to Nonna, Geet came back home for dinner. She sat next to her parents and Darjii at the dining table, enjoying the feeling of being home and the love she got here.
"Beti, tere parhai kase chal rahi hai? (How are your studies going?)" Darjii asked as a part of general conversation.
But that seemed to trigger off Mohinder. "Geet I hope you are studying hard. Yeh tumhari akheri sal hai. You can't mess up the last year of your course."
Geet gave a silent nod. She didn't know what else to do because the truth was that she hadn't been focusing on her studies as much as she used. Prior to Iman her life had revolved around her ambitions for life and her dream of becoming a doctor.
But after him she had changed. Her priorities in life had changed with him as the focus. He had become the centre of her world, with her life revolving around him. The change had come on with such subtlety that the realization shook her.
"Don't interrogate my daughter!" Rano chided her husband. "She is a smart girl so we don't need to constantly tell her what to do. She knows that her future is at stake. My girl will be a brilliant doctor soon." She gave a big smile to Geet.
"I know that Rano. I have faith in my daughter." Mohinder's pride in her was apparent in every word. "My child will never disappoint us." He reached over and gave a kiss on her forehead.
Geet felt overwhelmed with all the love that was showered on her. She knew that her parents had struggled to make sure that Geet and Rahul were successful. She had always appreciated their care and concern. But today that very love and trust was suffocating her. She felt guilt build within her because to a certain extent she had betrayed them.
"We have taught her what is right and wrong. Geet knows the importance of living an honest but ambitious life." He continued on.
Yes Papa'you have always taught me to differentiate between right and wrong. You instilled in me beliefs that have shaped me into who I am. Even the success you desire for me is not for money or fame but for self-contentment.
Loving Iman is not wrong. How can love ever be wrong? But hiding the truth from you is wrong. I wish I could tell you the truth but I have to wait for the right time.
"I love you guys." She whispered. "I love you so much."
I am so sorry for not being the daughter you think I am and for changing. But I promise that I shall always tread on the path that you have taught me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Present:
There was so much tension in the air during dinner that it was suffocating. There were only three in the dinner table; Naintara, Seb and Maan. Seb had convinced Naintara to go out for dinner at Riadon, the most expensive restaurant in Delhi. Naintara in turn had to convince Maan to come to dinner with them. She had expected him to outright refuse; after all he didn't even know Sebastian and Maan was not the sort to make new friends easily.
Seb however had known to a certain extent that Maan would accept the invite. After all if the man truly loved Geet he would be morbidly curious about Geet's fiance. So he had known that Maan would willingly fall for his trap.
Another part of the plan had been to make sure that the others weren't there with them. Dev had made sure that he and Geet had started their special shifts at the Delhi Metro hospital. Meera on the other hand had the excuse of looking after Mel at home.
Naintara had introduced the two, while both Seb and Maan pretended that they had no idea about the other person.
"So what do you do?" Maan asked Seb, trying to sound polite without being forceful. He wanted to know all about the guy who had the temerity to get engaged to Geet.
"Oh I am a lawyer, an associate partner at a law firm. What about you?"
"I am a business man."
"Really. That's cool." Seb said in a dismissive tone, trying to rile Maan up.
Cool? I could buy hundreds of lawyers like him! Calm down Maan...you need to get information out of him.
"So I heard that you are engaged to Dev's friend. I can't remember her name properly. Geet I think, right?" He tried to sound nonchalant but Seb could see right through him.
"Yeah I am engaged to Geet." Seb said with a gleeful smile. "We have known each other our whole lives and are best friends. So we are both really excited about getting married. We can hardly resist each other...so it was time to get married."
You won't be her best friend or get married to her if I kill you!
"That sounds'nice." Maan managed to choke out.
"Oh a lot of people expected it. We grew up next door and went through all the rituals of growing up together. So I know her better than anyone else." Seb couldn't help but enjoy torturing Maan. "None of her previous boyfriends stood a chance against me." He could see the vein in Maan's temple throb in anger. In the meanwhile Naintara watched the two with amused horror. She was worried that Maan was going to end up killing Seb.
"You sound very close.." Maan growled out.
"Oh we are very close." Seb said in a suggestive tone that had Maan gritting his teeth. "I was the first guy to sleep in her bed and even her first kiss."
That b******! I'll punch the lights out of him before he gets a chance to touch her again.
"There isn't anything about Geet I don't know."
This time Maan could visualise slamming Seb's head against the table. It gave him sadistic pleasure to imagine inflicting pain on this imbecile!
"Why as kids we even had baths together." Seb continued to taunt Maan, even though Naintara was making signals for him to stop. She looked panicked, scared that Maan was losing control, but Seb was having too much fun. He was twisting everything; Geet and him just shared a kiddy pool when they were 4, hardly threatening but Maan didn't need to know that. "Though I've to say that I had no idea that she would turn out so'so hot. She has one smoking body. I wouldn't mind-"
But Maan had heard enough.
"You ass*****" He shouted while jumping off the chair and punching Seb right on the face.
