Part 14

Cupid in Action!

After the serious fight, neither Armaan nor Riddhima talked with each other. DJ sensed something fishy between them but decided to stay out of it because she knew that they would patch up anytime soon. The day passed in this way. In the morning, both went college separately. This worried DJ as she understood that this time, it was SERIOUS!

Riddhima entered the college with a frown expression, and as usual, Nikita was already standing near the gate, waiting for the gang members.

"Hey Riddhima!", she said casually.

Riddhima forced a smile and said, "Hey Niki! How is your preparation?"

"Average!" said Nikita making an annoyed face, which soon turned into a friendly smile. "How about yours?", she asked.

"Good!", Riddhima confidently said.

"By the way, where is Armaan? You both were supposed to come together, right?", asked Nikita normally.

Riddhima frowned again, and this time, it was more. "I don't know!", she said and left.

Nikita was amazed. Riddhima's face used to glow whenever Armaan's name was taken but that day, it didn't. She thought confusedly as to why Riddhima left so suddenly.

"Hey Niki!", Armaan said smilingly and Nikita came out of her thoughts.

"Oh hey Armaan!", Nikita replied with a warm smile and they had a friendly hug.

After they broke the hug, Nikita asked intentionally, "Why have you come alone today?"

Armaan thought for a while, and then nervously said, "Just like that, no specific reason. Anyways, how's your exams preparation?"

"Okay types!" Nikita replied making a weird face, which made Armaan laugh.

"Anyways, gotta go! Catch you soon. See ya!", Nikita said and bid farewell to Armaan.

Nikita stood at the entrance of the exam hall and saw Armaan and Riddhima sitting separately. Riddhima was stealing glances at Armaan who was completely ignoring her.

"Something is terribly wrong. I'm sure they had a fight, and obviously Armaan must be at fault, after all his short-temper is world famous. Ugh how he is ignoring Riddhima! I do seriously not like it. I need to talk to Armaan about it!", Nikita said to himself in mind making a firm look.

After the exams were over, Armaan was chatting happily with the other gang members. Nikita stared him and shook her head in disbelief. She walked up to Armaan and tapped on his shoulder. "Armaan, I need to talk to you!", she told him seriously and they went behind the campus.

"Tell me, what's the matter? Why are you sounding so serious?", Armaan asked curiously.

Nikita glared Armaan and said, "Did you fight with Riddhima? See, don't you dare lie to me because after Riddhima, it's me who knows you very well."

"Okay fine! Yeap! We had a fight.", Armaan said and rolled his eyes.

Nikita heaved a deep sigh to calm herself and said, "I'm sure that you are at fault!"

"Niki, are you my friend or hers? And if you have called me here for this reason then please I don't wanna talk about it!" Armaan said irritatedly and started walking away.

"Armaan, have you forget that once you used to miss Riddhima so much that you cried whenever you were alone?" Nikita asked mockingly. Armaan stopped and turned back.

"I didn't forget. Let me clear one thing Niki! I ain't guilty. Whatever happened is because of Riddhima. She was ignoring me! Her first priority is exams!", Armaan stiffly said.

"Oh come on Armaan! Exams are going on. So she should study naa! After all, these exams are the most important parts of our lives. What has happened to you buddy? Try to understand. She loves you a lot! You know, when I met her this morning, she was upset. I had never seen her like that.", Nikita said in one go and Armaan was silent.

Nikita placed her palm on Armaan's shoulder and said softly, "Once you told me that Riddhima is an ambitious girl. So will you like if she spends time with you all the time and fails in the exams? Will you like if she doesn't reach her goal? Will you?"

Armaan lowered his eyes and shook his head. Nikita smiled in relief. "So I guess you have understood that you are at fault. So now it's time to correct your mistake!"

Slowly raising his eyes, Armaan said in a low tone, "Niki, yesterday, I had yelled at her so badly. So now how will I face her?"

"If she loves you, she'll forgive you, so just go and pacify her!", Nikita said to Armaan with a tight smile and hugged him.

Deeply in thoughts, Armaan entered his house and saw DJ cleaning up the dinning table. He headed towards her and asked, "DJ, where is Riddhima?"

"Beta, she is in her room!", DJ replied, still busy in her work.

"Did she eat lunch?", Armaan asked concernedly.

"Nope! She told that she'll eat later on.", DJ plainly answered.

Armaan slightly smiled and said, "Okay so give me her lunch. I'll take it to her room.", saying that, he murmured in his breath, making a sad face, "I hope she forgives me!"

"Sure!", DJ said contently smiling. She understood that Armaan was ready to patch up.

With the plate in his hands, Armaan was on the way to Riddhima's room, inwardly praying so that everything gets sorted out. As he stood behind the door of the room, he turned around the knob with his shivering hands. He was nervous!

Riddhima noticed Armaan coming in her room and closing the door, yet she just avoided and went back to writing her notes. Armaan sat at the corner of the bed.

"Riddhima, eat something. You must be hungry naa!", said Armaan very sweetly.

"I'm not hungry.", Riddhima coldly replied.

"Okay fine! I'll starve too! Between, I was so hungry but that's absolutely tolerable. I guess it's the punishment of behaving like a jerk with you yesterday.", Armaan said dramatically and hopped for an expected response from Riddhima, but to his surprise, the opposite thing happened.

"Do as you wish!" Riddhima replied rudely and Armaan felt his heart being pricked. "Doesn't she care about me anymore?", he thought sadly.

Armaan bended towards Riddhima and titled her chin up. Riddhima turned her face to the other side. "Look at me please!", Armaan said in the softest manner.

Speed of Riddhima's heartbeats increased. Ignoring that, she faced Armaan with I-don't-care look. "I'm sorry!", Armaan said looking directly in her eyes. Riddhima could see the sincerity in his eyes. He was really sorry and this was enough to melt her.

Riddhima cupped Armaan's face and touched his lips with hers gently. "It's okay!", she said with a slight smile, and Armaan felt as if he got his life back! He smiled whole-heartedly and pulled her in a tight hug.

"I badly missed being in your arms & feeling your warmth!", Riddhima said weakly.

Hearing what Riddhima said, Armaan's eyes got teary. "I'll never let you to miss it again! I promise!", he said genuinely and kissed her forehead, and once they broke off, he claimed her lips in a deep, romantic kiss.

After Armaan and Riddhima had lunch together in a single plate, they decided to have a group study. Riddhima was revising her notes, sitting on the study table, and Armaan was reading a chapter, laying on the bed.

"Riddhima, I don't understand this topic. Please help me out." Armaan said and touched his head in frustration. Riddima turned back and giggled seeing Armaan in that way.

"I'm terribly trapped and you are finding it funny.", Armaan said, getting annoyed.

"Okay baba! Sorry.", saying that, Riddhima laid beside Armaan and continued, "So which one are you finding hard to understand?", she asked.

"This one!" Armaan pointed out a paragraph on the book.

"Oh this one! It's very easy. Okay so let me tell you!", Riddhima said smilingly.

While Riddhima was describing the topic like a teacher, Armaan was gazing her with his dreamy smile. Every single word that escaped from her lips sounded like music to him.

"Did you get it now?", Riddhima said after finishing her explanation, but was amazed to see him staring shamelessly at her.

"Armaan, are you gonna write about me in your exam?", she sarcastically asked hitting Armaan lightly on his arm.

"I wish if I could!" Armaan said, sighed and his dreamy smile got larger.

"Abey oye! Concentrate on studies." She said funnily patting his cheeks and there he came back to the reality, and then both broke in chuckle.

DJ witnessed their group studying from the doorway and silently blessed them!..
