A Maaneet Tale

You know what, I know I just updated but I was bored so I decided to just write another update. You deserve it anyway since i've given you so much pain 😆

Chapter 18

I looked at the tray of food which was sitting on my bedside table. I didn't know what to do. How to get Maan back.

"Ek to mere paas cell phone nahi hai. Phone hi karle ti" I mumbled to myself and paced up and down. I looked at at the clock and saw it was late afternoon.

4:00pm.

I sighed and stood by the window. I watched the doves fly in the sky in circles. I didn't know what connection these doves had with the Khurana Mansion but they were always around me. Always near me.

I stared ahead in a daze, remembering the memories of Maan and me together. I smiled at some memories. My eye caught the guy who was washing the car right below me.

I furrowed my eyebrows and narrowed my eyes. The Taveez he was wearing was familar... Exactly like the one I had. He had his 3 buttons open just like Maan and... And his style of walking. It was also familar.

I could only see the side of face. I moved my face in different angles as I was desperate to look at his face.

I froze when he smiled. It was like he KNEW I was looking at him. It was like he knew this was going to happen.

"Oye hello" I yelled and waved from the window. He looked up at me and I gasped when my guess had been proved right.

It was Maan.

He was in a totally different get up. He was wearing a turban and a red checked t-shirt with one silver bangle on his right arm. He was wearing simple jeans and he had a fake mustache on. His sunglasses were hanging loose from his t-shirt.

I suddenly laughed when I remembered of Salman Khan who starred in Dabangg. I threw my head back and laughed so hard, I got hiccups.

I shook my head and looked back down at him. He winked at me and then placed a ladder right below my window. He climbed up to my window and jumped inside. I instantly hugged him.

Maan: "What did you think? I was really leaving you?" he said and chuckled.

I broke the hug and backed away from him. I turned my face and pressed my lips in anger. How could he play such a prank on me?

"Tum kya apne aap ko koi hero samajh te ho?" I asked and looked away from him. He turned me by my shoulders and tilted my chin up.

Maan: "I left everything. For you. I got a job here as a driver and I'm here to win your cousin and Maasi Ji's heart" he said and smiled. I suddenly felt like crying, he was doing so much for me.

I leaned in to kiss him but he walked away from me. He held the tray of food and glared at me as if I had committed a theft.

"What?" I asked and looked at the tray of food and then back at him. He sat me down on the bed and said:

Maan: "Your going to eat first" he said and held up a piece of paratha near my mouth. I took a bite, suddenly feeling ravenous. He fed me more and I ate it obediantely. He handed me a glass of water and I drank it, feeling the relief from my thirst being quenched.

Maan: "You were so hungry, why didn't you eat?" he asked me

"I couldn't eat without you beside me. I even kicked Massi Ji and Nandani out of my room in anger. I told them I hated them so much and I bet they are all angry at me. How will I fix this?" I said and bit my lip.

Maan looked at me and shook his head in disbelief.

Maan: "Just say sorry. Ask for their blessings and that's it. Leave me up to the rest" he said and winked. He pinned me against the wall and kissed me desperately.

Maan: "Love you" he whispered and left fresh hot trails of kisses from my collarbone to my neck. His kisses turned to teeth as he bit the flesh on my shoulder.

"Oye Balwant!" somebody called out and he immediately backed away.

Maan: "Ihavetogo. Bye!" he said frantically in one sentence and disappeared from the window. I ran up to the window and stared down below me.

He hid the ladder behind a tree and then got back to cleaning the car. Teji appeared into view.

Teji: "Car cleaned?" he said grumpily and looked at Balw -- I mean Maan up and down.

Maan: "Ji Paa Ji" he said and nodded innocently. I smiled at his great acting and turned my attention to the car. The car was actually sparkly white.

Teji: "Hmm. You can go and rest now" he said and Balwa -- I mean Maan and Teji went back inside. Maan gave me a wink before leaving and I smiled.

I looked at the tray of empty plates and picked it up -- An excuse I could use to go downstairs. I went downstairs and felt the blood rush to my cheeks as everybody stared at me. It was awkward as I put the tray down on the dining table.

"I had my lunch" I said and cleared my throat. Maasi Ji and the other's nodded in approval.

I cleared my throat again and went back up to them. I nearly screamed when I saw Maan looking through the window. He motioned to Maasi Ji, gesturing me to ask for forgiveness. I nodded slightly and turned my attention to Maasi Ji and Nandani.

"Ye khana kisne banaya ta? Bohot aacha bana ta" I said and licked my fingers to show appreciation. Nandani smiled.

Nandani: "I made it for you with my own hands. I knew you loved parathe and couldn't resist the food I made for you" she said and playfully punched my arm.

I smiled and took a deep breath.

"Maasi Ji, Nandani, Teji Veerji, Lucky Veerji, I am very sorry for the commotion I had caused in my room today. I didn't mean to kick anybody out of my room and Maasi Ji, I am very sorry. Please forgive me" I said and held my ears. I glanced at Maan for approval. He nodded.

Nandini: "Oh please Geet, don't apologize. I didn't feel bad at all. I know it would be annoying tagging along with you every minute" she said

Maasi Ji *hmmphed* and smiled faintly at me. I smiled back and looked at the window. Maan was gone and after a few seconds, he entered through the main entrance.

Teji Veerji had been ordered by Maasi Ji to put clean curtains back on the windows. I watched him struggle with the curtains.

I looked at Maan and pointed at Teji with my eyes. Maan cleared his throat, startling everyone, except for me in the room.

Maan: "Mein koi madat kar lu?" he asked and glanced at me.

Before Maasi Ji could reply, Teji replied.

Teji: "Oye Balwant! Come here and put the curtains up for me! They need to be done all over the mansion"

Maan widened his eyes at the thought of putting curtains up in his own mansion but recovered after a few seconds. He nodded and began to help.

I sat down on the sofa and watched him put the curtains up on each window. His chest had formed a sleek sheet of sweat as he moved to every window.

I wanted this to be over with quickly.

I couldn't see my own husband working in his own house.

I caught Daadima and Maan glancing in each other's directions. I instantly knew that Daadima new the plan.
