A Maaneet Tale

Chapter 17

It was finally time for me to go home.

I limped towards the bathroom to change from my hospital gown to my red anarkali dress. My wardrobe was now filled with endless red clothing.

When my upper body was naked, I decided to look at my back in the mirror. When my back came into view, I turned my head to look at the wound.

There was a long, red line formed into the middle of my back, which was dotted with stitches. I frowned and put on my dress.

After I was fresh and decent, I stepped out of the bathroom and like Maan had promised, he was waiting for me outside my room. I smiled and took his hand.

Maan: "Have I ever told you how beautiful you look in red?" he said and as we walked, he looked at me up and down.

I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks the same colour as my dress. I looked away to hide my timidness.

As I stepped outside of the hospital, the fresh air wafted into my lungs. I enhaled deeply. I had enough of hospital smell.

We got in the car and then we started to drive. The drive was silent as we drove.

"What happened to Sameera?" I suddenly asked out of the blue. I had forgotten all about her until now. I turned to Maan for an answer and saw him flinch.

Maan: "She... She got arrested" he said and sighed. I nodded and decided not to talk about it anymore. I wanted a day without Sameera interfering in my life for once.

Khurana Mansion finally came into view. I finally decided to actually take a good look at the mansion. The mansion was mainly made of glass and stone which was cream in colour. The flowers which were planted on the ground had bloomed even bigger and brighter since I had first came here and the doves seemed to be even more energetic and excited than usual. The green grass strangely looked greener today and our pool looked much more clean and crystal blue.

It was like the whole mansion had brightened up from my arrival.

I smiled and I felt my insides warm up. I was suddenly exited on meeting Daadima. Daadima my mentor, my supporter, my second mother.

As soon as Maan parked the car, I jumped out the car and sped walk to the entrance. I suddenly forgot about my back pain as I began to run this time. I pushed open the doors of the mansion with a huge grin on my face, but my grin faltered when I saw who had arrived.

I froze and widened my eyes.

Maan: "Geet kya hua tum andar kyu nahi --" he said and froze halfway through his sentence. He narrowed his eyes at the scene in front of us.

"Maasi Ji?" I said in shock and looked at the angry face of my Maasi Ji, and the happy faces of my cousins Teji, Lucky, and Nandini.

I interwined fingers with Maan's as I stepped inside with a smile. I saw Daadima standing at the side with a worried look on her face. What would be so worrying on having my Maasi Ji at home?

"Namaste Maasi Ji" I said and went over to seek for her blessings. When I was about to bend down, I remembered my sore back and I suddenly remembered my pain. I touched her hands instead. She blessed me with an angry *hmmph*.

I hugged my fellow cousins and I finally hugged Daadima. After that, I went and stood beside Maan, interwining my fingers with his warm ones again.

Maasi Ji: "Haat chor" she said grumpily and glared at our hands.

"Paar Maasi Ji --"

Maasi Ji: "Mehne kaha na, haat chor" she said loudly and I immediately left his hand.

Maasi Ji: "Geet, mehne tere liye ek bohot soch samaj ke faisla liya hai" she said and looked at me, and then at Maan with an even grumpy face.

"Kya faisla?" I asked and sat down beside her.

Maasi Ji: "Tum Maan ke saat, nahi rahogi" she announced and I felt the shock of my life crumble down on me. Me not living with Maan? Why? What had he done?

"Kyu? Kya hua? Kya kiya hai Maan ne?" I asked and looked questioningly at Maan who stared back at me with horror and confusion.

Maasi Ji: "Jo ye tum hospital gahi ho na, iske wajha sai. Maan ko aapko akele chorna nahi chaye ta. This makes him a very bad husband" she said

"Maan ne kuch nahi kiya hai. Sab to Sameera ne kiya hai" I said, defending him. How could Maasi Ji blame Maan for such a disgusting deed?

Maasi Ji: "Leken usne tumhe akela chora ta. Ha, ya na?" she asked and I hesitated. I could not lie to my Maasi Ji.

"Ha, lekin --"

Maasi Ji: "So that's that. Ye tumhare saat nahi rahega. Maan, apna saman bandho, or niklo yahaan se!" she yelled at Maan. He looked at Maasi Ji sadly and began to walk away. At that moment, I stood up.

"Maasi Ji, you cannot do this! Maan ne kuch nahi kiya hai!" I defended him and he stopped in the process of leaving. He had his back towards me and I knew that was because he wanted to hide his tears.

Maasi Ji: "You could have DIED Geet. Tum samaj rahi ho ke mein kya kerahi hu?" she told me and I didn't like where this was going.

"Lekin --"

Maasi Ji: "GEET! You will listen to me and that's it!" she shouted at me and I flinched. I didn't know how to stop this commotion from happening.

Maan: "She's right. I am not a good and faithful husband. I should have protected you more, Geet. I think you deserve somebody better" he said with pain and agony in his voice. I shook my head vigorously. How can he think this? Why was he not saying anything? I thought he was the great Maan Singh Khurana and he could win anybody over. What happened to him now? Why was he weak so suddenly?

"Maan please --"

Maasi Ji: "Geet, apne kamare mein chal" she ordered and tugged on my arm. Was I not even allowed to say my last words to him? Why was this all happening?

"Choriye mujhe! Maan, you cannot leave me like this? Why are you walking away from me? Maan! Maan please... MAAN!" I called out and he left. He didn't even bother to pack his clothes. He didn't bother to defend me. He did nothing. NOTHING.

He left me.

Just. Like. That.

I sat like a zombie on my bed, refusing to eat or drink anything.

Nandini: "Please Geet, kuch kale" she said and tugged the food at me but I refused to look at her, or the food.

I clenched my teeth, my hands tempted to throw the food to the other side of the room just when Maasi Ji came in. I glanced at her and then looked away from her.

Maasi Ji: "La Nandini, dekhte hai kese nahi khate" she said and I could feel her sit down beside me.

Maasi Ji: "Kale" she said and held up the piece of paratha up to my mouth, but I refused to even take a small nibble. I pressed my lips together, not even the smell made my mouth water. I wanted Maan back.

Maasi Ji: "If you do not eat then I shall --"

"Maasi Ji, why should I eat? There is no point in eating when I don't even know if Maan has ate or not! You snatched my husband away from me, please celebrate your happiness. But just leave me alone!" I said and looked away from her.

Maasi Ji: "Geet --"

I pushed Maasi Ji away from me and opened my mouth in shock in the end. How could I push her away from me? Maasi Ji looked at me in horror and then turned away to leave.

"Go away! All of you! I hate all of you! You have made my life miserable that's all! You didn't give me any happiness by coming here! I'd rather you lived in Hoshiarpur and minded your own business! Why did you interfere in my and Maan's life? What right do you have? What right?!" I yelled at the top of my lungs so Teji and Lucky could hear as well. Nandini flinched and looked at me in shock. Maasi Ji was frozen at the doorstep.

I pressed my lips together and pushed Nandini out of my room. I closed my door, right on their faces and locked the door.

Nandini: "Geet, look i'm sorry! Please open the door!" she said and slammed onto the door but I ignored her. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. I tapped the foot, waiting for their pleadings to go away and finally, they did.

After they went away, I realized what I had just done.

I had kicked Maasi Ji, and Nandani out of my room. I had never been this mean before in my whole life. Never so rude to my elders, never so mean to my cousins and friends.

I felt tears sting my eyes and I collapsed onto the bed. The pain in my back worsening. I felt like ripping the stitches off my back or shoving another knife through my stomach.

What point was there on living?

Half my heart had been taken away.

I looked out the window in a daze as I remembered the memories of me and Maan together. As I was staring in space, my eye caught the guy who was washing the car. I stared at the guy and narrowed my eyes as I looked at the style of his walking and his Taveez.

La la la la la... Okay you probably know what's going to happen next in this story. I stole the Director's idea and I hope you don't mind as I had completely ran out of ideas for the next update. I was thinking more romantic scenes but you'll get them during this plot as well.

As for Dev, he will be back in the story very soon, not as Dev being Maan but Dev being Dev 😊

aww poor geet... one after one after one painful things have happened to her...
she deserves happiness after all she has been through...

and poor maan if feeling guilty was ur crime then you should have dealt with it.,...

maan and geet need one another if not for themselves then definately for us readers lol :P

just go back...

that outburst of geet's was necessary but maybe kicking maasi ji was wrong...
