Niru was still smiling as she entered the house, and she saw sarja seated on the sofa, waiting for her.
"arrey tum yahan? Chai peeyoge ya phir kuch thanda?"
"woh aadmi kaun tha Niru?" sarja asked her, cutting the conversation she was trying to have with him. Maushi had gone to for her weekly temple visit.
"kaun? Kiske bare mein baat kar rahe ho?" Niru tried avoiding his gaze. She dint know why she was hiding this from sarja. She wanted to tell him about chandu, the man she fell in love, the man of her dreams. She wanted to tell her best friend that today was the best day of her life. But she did not.
"oh, toh tum mujhse jhoot bhi bolne lagi ho? Wohi aadmi jo tumhe yahan chodne aaya tha. woh helmet wala. Kaun tha woh?"
"oh woh..." Niru stammered.. "woh.. haan.."
meanwhile her phone began to ring. It was chandu's call.
"hum ek minute mein aaye" she told sarja as she rushed into her room, latching the door from inside, and sarja waited outside so that he could talk to her once she was done with the phone call.
"hi Niru, kya kar rahi ho?"
"kuch khaas nahi. Kya hua? Abhi toh baat ki humne, phir se phone?"
"haan, maine tumhe kuch batane ke liye phone kiya.."
"hume pata hai ki aapko kya kehna hai... i love you too chandu.." she giggled..
"haan main bhi..." he mumbled... "lekin uske alawa bhi kuch zaruri baat hai. Humare bare please kisi ko mat batana, khaas karke sarja ko"
"kyun? Sarja ko kyun nahi? Woh hamara best friend hai .Hum ussey kuch kaise chupa sakti hain?" she was not happy with what chandu was asking he to do.
Chandu thought of something quick.
"dost hai, isiliye mat batana. Main jaanna chahtha hoon ke woh sach mein mujhe tumhare liye pasand karta hain ya nahin. Agar tum pehle hi batado, toh mein uski ray nahi jaan paaunga... "
"chandu, tum mere liye sabse acche ho... Tum yeh kaisi baatein kar rahe ho? Kya tumhe mere pyar par bharosa nahi? Ya phir apne pyar par khud shak kar rahe ho?" she was sensing something was definitely wrong with chandu...
"aisi baat nahi hai, tum nahi samjhogi. Ab please, agar tum mujhse pyar karti ho toh jaisa main kehta hoon, waisa karo..."
"thik hai. Sirf tumhare liye, hum pehli baar sarja se jhoot bolne ja rahein hain... lekin yeh aakri baar hai. Iske aage mujhse kuch bhi aisa mat karwayiye jiski wajah se sarja ko takleef ho..."
Chandu dint know what to say. He knew that he was kinda using Niru to seek revenge from sarja.
"i love you Niru. Baad mein baat karta hoon. Accha suno, mein sham ko tumhare ghar aaunga. Sarja se milne, aur tumse bhi. Ussey kehna ke tumhara boss aa raha hai"
"thik hai, i love you too" she smiled and was happy. but somewhere deep in her heart, she was already feeling guilty, that she was gonna lie to sarja.
Chandu cut the call.
"so aaj mein tumse milunga sarja. Chaar saal se maine tumhari shakal nahi dekhi thi. Aaj ke din ke liye main kabse taras gaya tha" he thought to himself and was more than happy.
Meanwhile, Niru went outside and looked at sarja. He looked annoyed with Niru.
"naaraz ho?" "kyun? Main kaun hota hoon naaraz hone wala? Dekho Niru, aaj tak tumne mujhse kuch nahi chupaya. Aur ab? Tumne uss albela par bhi bharosa kiya na? Uska anjaam yaad hai ya phir bhool gayi?"
He walked upto Niru, held both her arms and looked into her eyes.
"mujhse kuch mat chupaao Niru, jo bhi hai, batado. Agar baad mein tumhe takleef hogi, toh mujhse tumhara dard dekha nahi jayega. Tum mere sabse kareeb ho. Tumhare bare mein jaanne ka itna haq toh banta hai na?"
"offoo baba, main kuch nahi chupa rahi hoon. Agar kuch hoga, toh tumhe bataungi"
She regretted lying to sarja, but she did this because she loved chandu more than sarja ..
"thik hai, mujhe tum par poora bharosa hai, bass its bharose ko todna mat"
Niru smiled and avoided looking into his eyes.
"ummm sarja, sham ko mera boss ghar aa raha hai. Tum unse miloge na?"
Sarja smiled. "zaroor, aakhir unhone tumhe naukri di hai. Main bhi toh unse milkar unhe thank you kehna chahtha hoon."
She smiled back at him.. "bass aise hi hasti rehna. Main sham ko aata hoon. Abhi apne ghar nahi gaya, toh meri maai phir se chillana shuru karengi..."
After sarja went, maushi came home. Niru told her about her boss, who was coming over in the evening. Maushi was more than happy to meet him. Niru tidied up the house.
Soon, it was evening, and sarja had too had come home, way before time. And in a while chandu too came and Niru asked him to come in.
Chandu saw sarja. The past memories came flashing to his mind. The horrible pain ran through each nerve. he clenched his fists in anger, but tried to keep a calm expression on his face.
"toh aap hain, Niru ke boss" sarja said smiling. "aapke bare mein itna suna tha. Aaj aapse milkar bahut khushi hui chanduji"
"mujhe bhi, iss din ka mein kab se intezar kar raha tha" chandu said, smiling at sarja.
Soon they started speaking to each other, and Niru loved the way they were becoming friends so soon!!! she was happy that sarja was liking chandu's company, which was great for her... But no one, other than chandu knew the actual intention behind him and sarja becoming friends...
Time passed quickly as days and months started rolling by. Sarja started liking Niru even more, Niru fell more in love with chandu as each moment passed. But she never let sarja know that she and chandu were actually in love. Whenever the three of them met, he would talk to Niru only as a boss. Chandu too had started genuinely liking Niru. But it was very difficult for him to forget his revenge. He would even spend sleepless nights crying. He was now in a fix whether to chose his love or revenge.
"main aisa kyun kar raha hoon? Agar sarja ne shagun ke saath itna bura nahi kiya hota, toh main kabka use maaf kar chukka hota. Aur Niru, pata nahin main uske liye kya mehsoos karta hoon. Kya main usey sach mein pasand karta hoon? Jab mein Niru ko sarja se baat karte huye dekhta hoon, toh mujhe itni takleef kyun hoti hai? Shayad main ab sach mein Niru ko pasand karta hoon. Pasand nahi, pyar karne laga hoon? mujhe Niru se baat karni hogi. Usey sab kuch sach batana hoga. Kal hi usey bataunga"
At maushi's house, Niru and sarja were talking in the kitchen while Niru was preparing something for dinner. Sarja had finally decided to propose to Niru. He thought it was high time that she knew about his feelings.
"Niru, mujhe kuch kehna hai."
"Toh bolo na, tumhe kabse ijazat maangni padi? Kaho toh muhurat nikalwadoon?" she giggled.
"pata nahi tum kaise react karogi lekin ..." he paused and took a long breath. "main tumse pyar karta hoon Niru"
Niru stood still. She was out of words. She was shocked. The man whim she considered only as a best friend, was actually proposing her. She dint know how to react. Maybe she should have told him about her and chandu initially itself. Maybe she shouldn't have listened to chandu. She just went out of the kitchen without saying anything. And Sarja regretted proposing to her.
"kahin maine kuch galat toh nahi keh diya? Kya woh mujhse baat nahi karna chahti? Humari dosti ka kya hoga? Nahin, main humari dosti ko tootne nahi doonga. Main ussey abhi kya kahun? Nahi, ussey abhi baat karunga, toh baat bigad jayegi... main chandu se baat karta hoon"
He dialled chandu's number to talk to him.
"sarja? Iss waqt call kyun kiya? Kuch kaam tha?" chandu tried to keep his cool while talking to him.
"haan tumse zaruri baat karni hai, bahut zaruri..." and he told him everything. Chandu dint know what to say to him.
"main kal ussey baat karke dekhta hoon" chandu dint know why he said this. He felt really hurt when sarja told him that he was in love with Niru. Yet he said that he would talk to Niru about him.
"thanks yaar chandu. Bye"
Chandu was in a dilemma. Whether to tell Niru about shagun and the entire truth, or whether to talk to her about sarja. He made up his mind and decided to talk to Niru the next day.
Niru reached the cafe quite early. And as always, chandu was there.
"mujhe tumse kuch kehna hai." niru said
"mujhe bhi."
"meri baat zyada zaruri hai, woh sarja..."
"sarja ne mujhe bataya ke woh tumse pyar karta hai." chandu said, cutting her in between what she wanted to say.
Niru was shocked.
"usne tumhe bataya, aur tumne usey kuch nahi kaha?"
"meri baat suno. Sarja sach mein tumse pyar karta hai. Tum ussey haan kehdo" chandu said as he avoided looking into her eyes.
She was more shocked. The man whom she loved, who loved her was asking her to commit herself to another man? How could he do that?
"tum yeh bol rahe ho? Kya tum mujhse pyar nahi karte? Agar karte ho, toh yeh sab kyun bol rahe ho? Agar nahi karte, jo itne mahino tak humare beech mein tha, woh sab kyat ha? Bolo chandu. Jawab do? Mujhe chodne ka iraada tha, toh haat kyun thaama? Dil dukhane ka irada tha, toh mujhse pyar kyun kiya?" she yelled at him at the top of her voice.
"i love you, main tumse pyar karta hoon. Isiliye keh raha hoon ke tum sarja ko haan kehdo."
"yeh kya baat hui? tum pagal ho gaye ho kya? Main tumse pyar karti hoon toh ussey shaadi karun? Issey accha toh hum uss albela ke hotel mein kisi bazari aurat banke rehte. Jitney bhi aadmi humare sath raat bitane aate, kam se kam hume pyar toh nahi hota. Aur phir humara dil nahi toottha... Chandu tum..."
He silenced her as he placed his lips on hers. This time, it wasn't lustful one. It was a pure kiss that conveyed his love, pain and some unknown feelings. She kissed him back.
He soon broke the kiss and said "abhi bhi yakeen nahi hai?" with pain quite visible in his eyes.
"tum agar mujhe marne ko bhi kaho, toh bhi mein bina sawaal kiye apni jaan dedungi.."
chandu brushed his fingers on her cheeks.
"toh bass, yehi bharosa mujhpar rakho. Aur sarja ko haan kehdo. Lekin mera tumse waada hai, dulhan toh tum meri hi banogi..."
With tears in her eyes and smile on her lips, she obeyed what chandu told her.
"lekin sarja ko takleef hogi. Please aisa mat karo. Kam se kam, mujhe batao toh sahi ke tum yeh sab kis liye kar rahe ho?"
"Niru, trust me. Tumhari shaadi sirf mujhse hogi, aur anth mein sab thik hoga"
She smiled and hugged him and he reciprocated the hug. And they stayed that way till someone entered the cafe.
Later on that evening, sarja and chandu met each other. Sarja wanted chandu's help in selecting a ring for Niru. Chandu chose the most beautiful ring, which was even better than all the rings that sarja had kept aside.
"arrey wah, yeh toh bahut acchi hai..."
Chandu just smiled at hime. "i'm sure Niru ko bhi pasand aayega"
The next day, She called up sarja to meet her near Anton uncle's hotel at 5pm. When she reached there, he proposed to her again, and she said yes...
She then went to meet chandu who was waiting at the beach. They spoke to each other and then she left to meet sarja...
And now here she was, on her way to meet sarja, the man whom she agreed to get married. She still couldn't digest the fact that she said yes to marry sarja because chandu, the love of her life, asked her to do so.
She called up sarja to tell him that she couldn't meet him and went home instead. She reached home and went into her room. She fell on the bed and started crying.
"mere saath yeh kya ho raha hai? Main pyar kisi se karti hoon aur shaadi ke liye kisi aur ko haan keh diya?"
She got up and removed chandu's picture from her cupboard. She brushed her fingers on his face...
"dair mat karna chandu, sirf tumhara hi bharosa hai. Main sarja ko dukhi nahi dekhna chahti. Bass kuch aisa hojaaye ke sab thik ho..."
She went back to bed and dozed off to sleep as she was tired and stressed out. Soon she was lost in chandu's dreams, least knowing what was to follow. True, her life had been a roller-coaster ride this far, but the worst was yet to come...
So thats it, as promised to a few, i have completed the flashback. I kinda rushed the past coz most of them wanna know who shagun is and what is her role in the story. And i could not reveal that without completing the flashback. So not in the next, but the update after that, chandu might let us all know who is shagun... 😃 thanks for reading guys, n thanks for letting me know what u all would like to read... truly ur comments help me improve a lot...
