chapter 5: falling in love

The next day geet woke up to surprise. Sam was standing infront of her with an envelope in her hand with "this is for you but I'm going to do the honors" look on her face, geet knew exactly what she was holding now. She chuckled and nodded her head, looking down. She left a sigh and looked at sam. Sam winked at her mischievously at geet and started to open the envelope.

"you know, I should be openeing that", geet pointed out blatantly.

Sam smiled knowing geet's possessive nature.

"sry sweetheart, but this one's mine", sam put her tongue out to tease geet.

"sam", geet called out as she raced behind sam, who now half way thru the envelope and yet running around the room , dodging geet from having her hands on the envelope.

"OH MY GOD", sam exclaimed and acted as if she fainted after seeing the picture. Geet stood rooted wondering what's going on.

"sam", she tried to budge her faint body, "SAM", geet screamed. Sam started laughing as she sat up to face geet sitting opposite her.

"hmmm, lets see", sam uttered as she compared and contrasted geet and the man in the picture. Geet just sat there watching her beast friend use her brain to make the analysis. After a lot of inspection of all the minute details, sam came to a conclusion.

"geet, I think u should really think again abt this proposal", she said to geet as a matter-of-fact. Geet looked at sam in a weird way, wondering what sam is hinting at.

"sam what are u trying to tell", geet asked a little irritated at sam's indifference nature. Geet hated it when sam tried to tantrums on her and like always she knew sam was making fun of her.

"actually I think he suits me better than you, so I thought u should revise ur thoughts and senses abt this matter, he might as well fall for me instead of you", sam pouted at geet. Geet who was watching and listening to open mouthed, blinked her eyes until all that sam said sinked in.

"sam ki bachchi", then geet started chasing sam. Sam was laughing all the way thru to the garden outside. Until both got tired and settled on the swing playfully. They relaxed for a while, they looked at each other and again burst out laughing at their childish behaviour.

"he's no good for me actually. Not of my type, but exactly my jiju types", sam nudged geet's elbow as she noticed geet blushing.

"if u blush so much ppl think u are face painted red", sam joked, "sam", geet hit her with the small pillow on the swing. Sam just smiled. They sat in silence enjoying the cold winter morning, with the birds chirping somewhere far and the white mist surrounding them.

They say silence is the best conversation between friends. For geet and sam, it was the same. They knew each other inside out so well that they dint need words to convey what they have to tell. They would sit like this whole day without a word uttered but and then walk off having the best conversation than the previous.

Sam dint know how this was possible but she knew one thing that there's no greater gift than the FRIENDSHIP. You find a friend who's worth all ur life, then you are the luckiest person, was sam thought. And with geet she had always felt that life couldn't have been better.

For geet, sam was like her mirror image, what she couldn't tell her family, sam would understand her just by looking at her. Sam had made everything easy for geet. Sam was more like a sister for her. Any problem, sam was always there to help geet and provide solutions. It was all that a person could ask for in freindship as far as geet and sam were concerned.

After thr abrupt long silence, sam let out a sigh and turned to geet.

"you know geet, I feel he's just the right person for you", geet's eyes filled with tears, she hugged sam tightly.

"planning to kill me just by crushing is it?", sam mocked playfully. "sam", geet hit her. Sam smiled at her geet knew, it was time for sam to leave. Sam got up, placed the closed envelope in geet's hands, smiled and left the place without a word.

Geet knew that sam wanted her see maan's pic alone and tke a decision on her own. Suddenly her heart started racing for no reason. She clutched her dupatta in anxiety. She bit her lower lip. She was all too excited but it all showed in her anxiety. She took a deep breathe, "calm down geet", she told herself in haste.

It was new for her, the feeling, emotions and all that. She had never imagined, this would all start this way. She sat in silence for a while and then took the envelope in her hands and slowly opened it and took out the photo out slowly. She felt laughing at her state. She closed her eyes while she took out the photo completely and placed in front of her. Breathing all too heavily she opened her eyes slowly.

She looked at him without blinking for a while. He looked like a gentleman, just like she wanted him to be, his eyes soft, but his onyx eyes had all that, that could melt her down. "hmmm nice physique", she thought sounding like weirdo. She smiled at her idiocracy. His smile, he had that killer smile, "geet you would faint anytime", she chuckled. She took a last whole glance before she closed her eyes so that his picture would be embedded in her eyes forever. She kept the photo to her heart and hugged it thinking, "my man, my maan" and she smiled in bliss.

Brij who was watching her from far was all too happy to see his little angel to have fallen for the gut they chose. "love is in the air", he thought, before receding to inform his parents that they should take forward the talks abt the relationship.

Even though this ff is based on my friend's budding love story I don't want to make this a drama story instead I am seeking everyone's help here.
