As She Wrapped Her Arms Around Him,Our Hands Separated,Broke Apart Violently.Was This A Sign That Separation Was Looming, It Was Imminent On Our Horizon? That This New Relationship We'd Made Didn't Have A Long Future,It Would Break Easily? The Thread That Tied Us Together Was Weak,Not Strong Enough To Withstand Others Or Problems That Faced Us? Or Was This Just Me Overreacting?

I walked forward slowly,unsure of what to do.Tears brimmed in my eyes,longing to come out,to show the hurt and pain i felt seeing Annie with Maan but i pushed them back.Annie broke away and looked at me.She had tear stains on her face.She had been crying.

Annie:Geet.How are you?

Geet:Fine.Whats wrong with you? You look ill,like you haven't slept in a few days and your eyes are red,you've been crying.

Her eyes filled with tears and she ran away from us,A few feet away.I ran after her,Her tears touched my heart.She wrapped her arms around me and cried.She cried and cried until her tears stopped coming and i cried with her.I loved her,She was my best Friend and i couldn't bear to see her in pain.It was the same as if Maan was in Pain,I would cry with him so i cried with Annie.

Geet:Annie,Whats Wrong?

Annie:Geet,My...My...

Geet:Your what?

Annie:My Dad...D..He Died,Geet.L...Last week.

Geet:(hugs her again)Annie!!!

Her dad had died? What must she be going through? She needed support and care at this time.Not pain.We couldn't say anything to her yet.We couldn't give her more pain when her world was already collapsing around her.No,That was heartless.And i knew Maan would agree.

Geet:Im so sorry,Annie.Sorry doesn't do anything,I know but know im with you.

Annie:Thanks Geet.But youre right,it doesn't get rid of the pain.

Geet:Right,Youre coming home with me.Youre going to stay with me Ok? You'll feel better around your friends.It'll take your mind off things abit.

Annie:But Geet...

Geet:Sshhh.Dont worry.Come.Lets go.You sit on the chair over there and me and Maan will get our stuff and come.

Annie:Ok

Maan:Wait geet.Im coming.1 min,Annie.

We walked over to arrivals and Maan looked at me suspiciously.

Geet:Wait.Maan,Her dad...Her dads died.

Maan:What? Are you serious? How? When?

He looked Confused,Shocked.He ran his hand through his hair and looked at me,sad.

Maan:Geet,We cant say anything to her about...

Geet:I know.Shes staying with me for now so your going to have to go to your house.

Maan:Ok,Its the best idea.Atleast with you,she'll have support and you can cheer her up a bit,Make sure she copes ok.

Geet:Hmmm...Come on,lets go back to her.

Maan:Ok.

We went over to Annie and then left for my house.The car journey was awkward,We didn't speak,Just sat in silence.Maan glanced at me a few times through the mirror but i kept my head down.Seeing Annie in pain had taken the happiness i had been feeling away.Now,I just felt sadness.We arrived quickly,There was no traffic at all,It was quiet,Unusual for India.We all got out of the car and went inside,Maan carrying the bags.My mum wrenched open the door and smiled.

Mum:Geet!!

Geet:Hi,Mum.

How should i tell her not to mention our marriage in front of Annie? Oh God!! I looked at Maan but he just stared back helplessly.I had an idea.

Geet:Annie,Stay here ok?Just 1 min.

Annie:No,Ill come aswell.

Geet:Errr...Im going toilet.Come on Mum.

Annie:Together?

Geet:Huh? No,Err...Mum needs to give me...Errr...Toilet roll.Yeah,Ive forgotten where it is.

Annie:Ok.

Geet:Come mum.

As we hurried past Maan,He grinned at me.I signalled to him to come aswell.He sneakily came with us and we went into my room.

Mum:Geet,Whats Wrong?

Geet:You cant tell Annie me and Maan are married.

Mum:But...Why?

Maan:Auntie,Annies dad died.Shes upset and she liked me aswell.We don't want to hurt her feelings.

Mum:Ohh...Thats...Hows she coping?

Geet:Not good and shes going to stay here for a while,Ok? Maan will be going to his own house.

Maan:OUR house now,Geet.

I smiled at him,He was always making me happy,reassuring me of his love.How had i got him as a husband? Did i deserve him?

Mum:Maan,Beta,Im so happy Geet chose you as her life partner.Youre perfect together.

Maan:I promise i'll always look after her.

Mum:Yes But u have some explaining to do Geet!!! About your secret marriage.!! And Geet,all this stuff about not telling Annie is fine but can you cope with it? Youve just got married,You want to spend time with each other not live separately.You want to get to know each other,Understand each other not not being able to see each other.you need to think it through Geet.And you Maan.

She was so true.Even thinking about separating from him brought tears to my eyes.Maan looked at me in pain,his eyes showing me exactly what mine were showing him;Pain.He squeezed my hand and wrapped his around mine.

Could i cope?
