Chapter Twenty-One
(Mehndi Rang Layi)
The next day, Geet had woken up a little later than everyone and her breakfast in her room. She wasn't allowed to step out too much because she wasn't allowed to see Maan until the wedding day. She was so happy althought she felt very weak. She took her medicines and Maan texted her and said, " I've booked your appointment with Dr. Heer when we get back... you'll be going through treatments through the whole week." Geet read it again and smiled, " Im so lucky to have Maan."
She put her phone down and then a knock came at her door. The beautician was there and she came in and set up her things. She began doing her facial, mani and pedi. Geet was relaxing and at the same time she was ignoring Maan's texts... she could tell he was getting annoyed. She loved the tease.
After all of that was done, Meera and Nikki came in and helped her with getting ready for the mehndi. She wore an anarkali that had short short sleeves and put her hair in braids... Haldi would be applied all over her and then shortly the mehndi.
" I'm so nervous!" exclaimed Geet. " Bus tu araam se behet and let me do it" said Meera. She did her makeup very lightly and she put her hair back in a long plait with loose strands as usual. Geet looked at herself... she was so different... she felt so different... she thought she would never see herself getting ready as a bride but now she would...
Geet came down with Meera and Nikki by her side and she found Maan to be sitting in the the other hall having his haldi ceremony done... She sat down and all the ladies began applying haldi to her... They whispered good wishes and prayers. Meera and Nikki were beside her and they kept on teasing her. They always had Maan's texts coming in. They couldn't stop themselves from laughing at her... she only got a little irritated.
Finally Geet had the haldi washed off and she changed her outfit again and wore a beautiful dark green anarkali with a yellow border. She came down and then the mehndi lady was applying her mehndi. She had it applied all the way to her elbow and upto her shins. It was absolutely beautiful. The ladies danced and Meera and Nikki danced on the song "Chalka Chalka re from Saathiya".
Geet had the time of her life and she saw all the ladies getting their mehndi done and Dadimaa sat beside her and she put her hand on her cheek, " Bete... aap humari beti jaisi hain... aur aap bohot khoobsurat lag rahin hain". " I just want to thankyou bete for bringing my old Maan back Geet... you have a high place in my heart as my daughter!"
Geet had tears brimming in her eyes and she smiled, " I thought I lost my mother but I got her back in the form of you Dadimaa... you hold the highest place in my life too... under a mother's feet there is heaven..." said Geet. Dadimaa smiled and kissed her on the forehead.
The evening was almost over and finally Meera got Geet's phone from upstairs and she read the 50 texts that Maan had sent her through the whole evening. Geet rolled her eyes, " He's paying my bills." " Meera.. yeh reply likh.., Maan... I have mehndi on right now and please remain CALM... IM NOT RUNNING AWAY..." said Geet. Meera laughed and texted. She instantly got a reply back saying, " If u have mehndi on then who is texting?"
Geet laughed and Meera decided to give her own reply back, " Aapki saali sahiba...aur haan... no talking.. no meeting... byee jeej!" She sent it and shortly two minutes after he gave a reply back saying, " Ohh.. i understand.. okay so saali sahiba... tell your sister that i probably racked my bill up just because of her" Geet read the reply and told Meera to reply back saying. " Kisne kaha tha kay aap mujhe text karein... and btw YOU;RE paying for my bill too.."
" Meera.. phone band kar."
Meera nodded and she said, " Poor guy Geet.. itna tarsa rahi ho unko." " Pleeease! give me a break Meer..." said Geet as she rolled her eyes. " Geet bete.. its late now... you should go upstairs and rest...kal shaadi hain aur aapko araam karna parega" said Dadimaa. Geet nodded and she made sure that her mehndi was dry. The mehndi was dry and she slowly went upstairs with the help of Ashlesha, Nikki and Meera.
Geet carefully changed into her night clothes and luckily her mehndi didn't rub off to much. She went to bed and she laid down. She took out her phone and texted Maan, " Sorry Maan... sabke saamne main aapse baat nahin karsaki.." She instantly got a reply back saying, " Its okay.. did you take your medicines?"
She smiled and texted back," Yes sir... anything else?" and he replied to her saying" Go to sleep Geet... we have a long day ahead of us... its our wedding tomorrow... good night and I love you". Geet texted him goodnight and she shut her phone and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Geet got up around 11am and she freshened herself up. First thing she looked at was her mehndi. She was excited to wash it off and she found it to be stained in a deep maroon color. It looked so beautiful on her hand. She took a shower and then her breakfast came to her room. She ate and took her medicines. Just then she got a call from Yash and Heer... " GEEEEEEEEEEET! CONGRATULATIONS!!! BTW WE'RE COMING TODAY!" said Yash and Heer together excitedly!
" HEER! YASH!! ARE YOU GUYS CALLING FROM THE HOSPITAL?" yelled Geet so excitedly. " WE'RE COMNIG TODAY! .. heer is coming with her husband and im coming alone!" Geet was so excited.. " Do my interns know?" asked Geet. " No they don't... we thought we would give them a little shocker!" said Heer. " Okay!"
" Acha chal bye" said Heer. " Bye Geet! see you soon" exclaimed Yash. Geet was so excited! Her friends from the hospital were coming along with her! How exciting.
Just then Meera and Nikki came into her room... " Acha.. Im your personal beautician darling... ab main tere baal karongi phir tera makeup.. " Suddenly, Ashlesha and dadimaa came in and brought in her bridal lengha. Geet stood up and looked at it... it was a beautiful red color... traditional! Geet hugged both ladies and said," Im so happy! thankyou!"
Two hours later Geet went into the dressing room to get her ready.Meera and Nikki were getting ready as well. The girls wore beautiful sari's and they were almost ready when Geet had her hair finally done. Ashlesha was ready and so was dadimaa.. they both came in and brought her wedding bangles. Dadimaa put it on her and Meera draped the dupatta over her head fixing it securely! Geet was finally ready and she felt nervous.. Her hands began to shake in nervousness.
Geet looked so closely at herself. She dreamed of being a bride since she was a little girl and she dreamed her mother and father would give her away with her own hands... She only stood up and hugged everyone. She had tears in her eyes. She was finally a bride!
On the other hand Maan was in his room getting his sherwani together... Arjun helped him with the top buttons and Veer was getting his watch together as well. " So Dulhe raja... excited?" asked Arjun. " Im good.. but I know Geet must be nervous as hell" said Maan. " Bhai, none of the interns know at all.. I bet they'll be in shock when they see you and bhabhi walking together in the hospital working as husband and wife..." said Veer with a grin. " I know..." said Maan totally not caring about what the interns would think.
"Okay Maan you're ready dude... chalein?" said Arjun. Maan nodded and he made his way downstairs. He eagerly wanted to see Geet soon.
I hope you liked it... Actually I hope that it wasn't too boring 😊 The next few chapters will be pretty intense 😊

" I know..." said Maan totally not caring about what the interns would think.
"Okay Maan you're ready dude... chalein?" said Arjun. Maan nodded and he made his way downstairs. He eagerly wanted to see Geet soon.
