Chapter Nineteen
(Surprise!)
Geet was restless that night when the party was over... she couldn't believe what had just happened with her. On the other hand, Maan was laying in his bed thinking about the change in his life. How easily both their lives changed. Maan and Geet were meant to be. Maan found his jeene ke ishare through Geet... Avantika was right, God had sent Maan another angel in the form of Geet.
The next morning, Geet woke up and she freshened up. She wore her favorite pink anarkali with her hair nicely down and her usual makeup. It was the first day of her new life and Geet needed to make sure she looked good. Geet checked herself out... weird... she never use to... but now she feels the need to. She grabbed her phone and texted Meera everything that had happened.
Of course Geet got that reply of, " OMGGGGGGGGGGG GEETOO! SERIOUSLY! CONGRATSSS!!! I KNEW MAAN LOVED YOUUU!! ABHI JALDI SE WAAPIS AA WARNA MAIN TUMHE MAAR DALOONGI!" Geet only laughed. It was a Meera-type of reply. Geet put her phone away and she went downstairs and she heard everyone in the grand dining hall having breakfast. She came down and found Ash and Arjun sitting at the table with Suhani and dadi. Maan was to be found no where. Geet shrugged and she came down the stairs.
She went to the dining table and she greeted everyone and sat down beside Suhani. " What would you like?" asked Suhani. " Tea and bread please!" said Geet. Suhani nodded and passed the butter, bread and tea forward. Geet took out her breakfast and she began eating it. " Last night's party was a blast!" said Ashlesha. " Haan bete! it was very nice... you kids did a fabulous job!" said dadi. " Itna mazaa aaya thaa kay buss!!" said Suhani. " So sad that you all are going back today bhabhi!" said Suhani again. " Suhani we'll be back after a day or two... its sad that Maan and Geet have to be back tomorrow eveninng!!" said Ashlesha. Geet was a little sad. These strangers suddenly became the family she lost. She felt so at home with them. " Aapke laad sahib kahaan hain" said Ashlesha.
" Maan bete aisa kabhi nahin kartay..." said dadi. Just then Maan came in with jeans on and a white shirt. He looked so hot that caught Geet's eyes. She only went crimson. He took dadi's blessings and sat down beside Geet. Geet was eating her toast and she looked at him from the side and she took her shoes off and brushed her feet against his legs... She was feeling his feet and ankles with her feet softly... He looked at her surprised. She gave him a quick wink and began concentrating on food. Touching Maan was the best thing ever... Just then Maan grabbed Geets hand from underneath the table and he squeezed it. She was a little surprised but she narrowed her eyes at him for the revenge. He wouldn't let go of her hand. She put her shoes back on and then Ashlesha asked her, " Geet... can you pass me the milk jug?" Geet got worried... Maan wouldn;t let go of her hand.
Just then Arjun dropped his phone on the ground and he bent to the side to pick it up from underneath the table. Then he saw Maan holding onto Geet's hand tightly. He only laughed to himself a little, " Wah wah saale sahib.. aap humse bhi aage nikal gayee." Ashlesha patted his shoulder and he got up and he quickly texted Ashlesha to tell her of the happenings under the table. She read the text adn she was goign to laugh so hard. She was having a hard time holding it back but she wanted to tease them both now.
" Geet! can you pass the milk jug!" repeated Ashlesha. " Woh um Ash.. uh.." mumbled Geet as she looked at Maan and gave him the glare..." maan!" snapped Geet. Maan let go of her hand and she quickly gave her the jug. Ashlesha laughed a little and she went to pouring herself a glass of milk. Geet glared at Maan but he only laughed to himself. " Wah ji wahh... saale sahib... aap to hansna bhi seek gayee" said Arjun teasingly. Maan only rolled his eyes. " Pata hain... sab hospital mein Maan ko khadoos kehte hain" joked Geet. " Geet!" said Maan a little seriously." Actually... I did too" said Geet.
" Geet!" said Maan. " What Geet.. admit it Maan.. dadi aap batayiye.. Maan khadoos thay naa?" said Geet. Dadi laughed... " Bete... aap theek keh rahi hain.. itna khadoos..." said Dadi. " Dadi!" said Maan. " What dadi... I agree with Geet... now stop repeating our names and eat.." said Dadi with a smile. Maan shrugged it off and they all conversing and eating at the same time.
That morning, Geet prepared her suitcase because she was off to the camp again and then from there she and Maan would head back to Delhi. Geet was all ready and she checked the last of her things. She returned everything she borrowed. She texted Maan to come up and help her with the suitcase. He came up and came into her room and he shut the door. Geet frowned, " Maan.. you have to take this down!" Maan only leaned on the door and said, " Turns out we aren't leaving till tomorrow and we are leaving straight from the house... Ash and Arjun already handled the camp things." Geet sighed and she said, " Thanks for telling me now!"
" You welcome!" said Maan. Geet walked towards Maan and stood infront of him. He smirked and grabbed her waist tightly against him. " Maan! what are you doing.. no shararat!" said Geet. " I have something to tell you" said Maan. " Another surprise?" said Geet. " Maybe" said Maan.
" What is it?" said Geet. " Come down stairs" said Maan. Geet frowned but she nodded and came down with him. She went into the formal living room and was shocked. She found Meera, an older woman, Nikki and Veer sitting there. She frowned and then everyone stood up and smiled. Geet was surprised and she didn't know what was going on. The older woman stood up and she walked towards Geet. Geet bent down to take her blessings and she stopped her and said, " Daughters don't touch our feet". She looked like a sweet lady. " Hum Maan ki dadimaa hain aur Maan ne humay sab bata diya hain" said Dadimaa. Geet went a little red and she was surprised.
Dadimaa was a graceful lady who wore a creme colored sari with a long pearl necklace and light earrings. " Behetiye" said Dadimaa. Geet nodded and she sat beside Dadimaa. " Savriti, she is the sweetest girl ever..." said Dadi with a large smile. " Humay dekh ke pata chal gaya tha..." said dadimaa. Geet looked and Meera and Nikki questioningly but they only smirked. " I only came because I wanted to see you Geet... and you are exactly what Maan described bete... and I am here for Maan to ask you if you want to marry him" said Dadimaa. Geet froze. What was going on!?! this was too overwhelming. " Maan ne humay sab kuch bata diya hain bete aur aap mujhe apni dadimaa samjhe" said Dadimaaa. Geet sighed and she said, " I don;t know what to say."
Just then Dadimaa took out two bangles and she said, " Aap Khurana khandaan ki bahu banengi?" asked Dadimaa. Geet had tears brimming in her eyes. She looked at everyone aroudn the room and they only reflected pure happiness. Geet nodded and Dadimaa put the gold bangles on her and she kissed her forhead. Dadimaa called for sweets and everyone was greeting eachother. This was happening wayyy too fast for Geet... She hadn''t even had the time to process it.
" Humnay yeh teh ki hain kay aapki shaadi agle hafte hogi... sangeet is day after tomorrow, mehndi the day after and finally shaadi" said Dadimaa. Geet nodded... she was okay with it. Of course! she couldn't believe that she was going to be Maan's wife. Everyone was talking and Maan was smiling at Geet. Dadimaa loved Geet from the start! Why had Maan not introduced her before! She afterall reminded her grandson on how to smile, laugh and live.
Everyone was talking and then the two older ladies went off towards the garden to settle some wedding matters. Geet couldn't believe it. Ashlesha hugged Geet so hard and said, " Congrats Geet bhabhi!" Geet felt a little weird but she said, " Just say Geet Ash" Ashlesha laughed, " Okay". She broke out of the hug and then Meera flung into a big hug. " Geetooo!!!!!!!!!!! congratulations siss!!!! im so happy for you!" said Meera. Nikki hugged , " Di! you deserve the happiness
!" Arjun side hugged Geet and said, " Okay so you're my.... bhabhi too? wait no... lets just leave it at my little sister" Geet laughed, " Arjun bhaiya..." " Oh God... Arjun only please.. Suhani has taken the job of saying bhaiya" said Arjun with a laugh. Then Suhani hugged Geet and said, " I knew you were going to be our new bhabhi! welcome to the family bhabhi!!". Geet hugged her back hard and said, " Thanks Suhani"
Just then as Geet was talking, everyone cleared the way. Maan knelt down in front of her and took out a ring and he took Geet's hand and said, " Will you marry me Geet Handa?" Geet's eyes were brimming with tears and she said, " Yes yes yes yes" Maan put the ring on her and she hugged him. Everyone cheered. It was a truly wonderful day! Full of surprises!
