The doorbell rang.
Geet immediately knew who it was.
She walked up to the door and unlocked it. She slowly opened it, revealing the face of a teary Meera. Before Geet could ask her to come inside, she went inside herself and slumped down onto the sofa. She hid her face in her hands in embarrassment and sobbed.
Geet went up to Meera and sat down beside her.
Geet: "I forgive you, Meera" she said and ran her hand up and down her back
Meera: "I'm really sorry. You were right. Why did I trust that stupid Nitya and not you? I'm going to believe you from now on no matter what happens" she said and turned to Geet. She bent over and hugged her tightly.
Meera: "How did you and Maan break up?" she said and broke the hug, wiping her tears away
Geet hesitated.
Meera: "It's okay if you don't want to tell me" she said softly
Geet sighed.
Geet: "It's because of him actually. He decided to hide some important stuff from me and so I broke up with him. I don't want a boyfriend who hides things from me" she added through gritted teeth.
Meera: "That's IT?" she said and broke into fits of laugher
Geet: "What's so funny?" she said and frowned
Meera stopped laughing.
Meera: "Babe, you need to give Maan some time. if he's hiding something from you it's surely a reason. He's always there to protect you and maybe he is protecting you, right now by not telling you" she said
Geet: "Yeah, he totally protected me in the canteen today" she said sarcastically and then looked away.
Meera: "I was sitting beside Maan. He was so angry I swear he might have actually erupted. He actually got up but then he sat back down again" she said
Geet was angry at Maan but she still found herself forming a faint smile. At least he hadn't forgotten her. At least he still cared about her. At least... at least he reacted.
Geet: "Okay. I'll think about it" she said and sighed, relaxing against the sofa.
Meera: "I know I'm your friend and I'm meant to be taking your side... But I think it's part of your fault too. You didn't trust him" she said and reached for the remote control and switched on the TV.
Geet felt angry at Meera not taking her side, but then she had to admit Meera had a point. Why didn't she just trust him? Over such a petty matter, she broke up with him. It was she who totally messed everything up. Geet decided she was going to fix this. She was going to go up to Maan's doorstep and as soon as he would open the door, she would give him a big, ferocious, passionate, yummy kiss and fix it all.
Being without Maan somehow made Geet's life feel empty. There was always a spark of excitement in her life, but when Maan was away from her, the spark disappeared. Her life was boring without Maan.
But there was Abhay.
Abhay, was perfect. He had the same intense eyes, and he was friendly. He was caring, and he was always there for you when you needed him. Being near him made Geet's body tingle just as she was near Maan.
Maybe she should wait a while and think about Maan and Abhay.
But then she remembered Dev. Dev was just like Abhay. He was friendly, he was caring. But then he suddenly jumped into her bedroom and nearly killed her. He turned out to be a vicious vampire. And he was cute, sexy, hot, and all that stuff.
Maybe Abhay was just like Dev.
Geet's thoughts suddenly got broken by the word 'Tsunami' coming from somewhere. She blinked and returned to her trance and then looked at the TV Screen.
Reporter: "All residents of London are to evacuate in whichever building they are and return to higher grounds as soon as they hear this tsunami warning. Please make sure you make a kit of clothes, food, blankets, water, and other essentials..."
The reporter soon trailed off as Geet couldn't hear anything else. She stared at the TV screen with wide eyes. A tsunami.
She slowly turned to look at Meera who was also literally frozen with the control still in her hand. Her hands were trembling.
Geet: "It's a warning Meera. It's not like it's going to happen just no --"
Geet was soon cut off by the ground suddenly vibrating. The chandelier above them swayed left and right and the lights flickered on and off.
They had to get out of here.
Geet gripped Meera's hand tight and then got up. Before she could even move, she swayed left and right and then fell back down on the floor again.
And suddenly, Maan appeared in front of her.
Maan: "We have to get out of here. Here is your suitcase Geet. Meera" he said frantically and handed over the suitcases to Geet and Maan.
Geet and Meera got up with the help of Maan and then suddenly, Abhay appeared in front of them.
"Abhay?!" Geet and Maan said in unison.
Abhay: "Okay, yes I am an immortal. But this is not the time to discuss this. We have to stop this tsunami. Look out the window" he said factly
Meera was confused at the word 'immortal' but then she turned her attention at the window.
Geet used the walls to support her. She slowly made her way to the window. She drew the curtains and then widened her eyes. She could see the waves.
Maan: "But how are we going to stop the tsunami?" he asked
Abhay: "Where's is The Book of Immortal Powers?" he asked and then looked around
The book appeared in Maan's hands. He threw at Geet and she caught it. She opened the book and then turned each page frantically, looking for anything. Freezing time, undoing stuff, rewinding, anything.
Geet: "I can't find anything!!!" she shouted and suddenly she felt tears prick her eyes. She, Abhay, and Maan would live. But if they didn't stop this tsunami, then everyone, including Meera would die.
Abhay: "Keep looking Geet" he said
Suddenly, the ground shook again and the flickering lights, finally gave in and turned off.
Geet: "Damn, I can't see!" she said and used the wall again to keep her from falling down.
Maan: "You do know that this ground might shake harder again any minute and this building might collapse?!" he scoffed
Geet: "Shut up Maan! This is no time for sarcastic comments" she said but she was still scared. She magiced up a torch. The torch appeared in her hands and she tucked it under her armpit, and used her hands to turn the page.
Geet kept turning the page, hoping she could find some sort of spell which could freeze, undo, or rewind but she found nothing.
Abhay: "I'll try" he said and grabbed the torch from Geet and took over.
Geet put her hands on her hips and then she finally realized that Meera hadn't said a word.
She looked around for Meera. It was dark but she could just make out a figure in the corner. Geet magiced up another torch and then held it towards the corner. It was Meera, crying.
Geet used the wall to support her and then made her way up to Meera. She bent down and sat down beside her.
Geet: "Wan't me to tell you a story?" she said and laughed. It was funny. She thought of telling Meera a story in the middle of a tsunami.
Meera laughed.
Meera: "Sure. Like that's going to make things better" she said and unzipped her suitcase. It had all of Meera's clothes, food, a flask, and about 10 bottles of water.
Meera: "How did Maan get all my clothes?" she asked and frowned
Geet: "He's an immortal. So am I. And apparently, Abhay is aswell" she said
Meera: "What are immortals?" she asked and sniffed
Geet: "It's when people have powers. They can move objects, read people's mind, make objects appear that aren't in the room, and much more. He probably used his powers and packed your suitcase" she said and looked at Maan who was skimming along the page along with Abhay. To tell the truth, she was proud of Maan. He was so nice.
Geet laughed.
Nice was a crap word for someone like Maan. He was... Magnificent, beautiful, sexy, hot, adorable, cute, kind, caring...
Maan: "I found a spell!!!" he said and put his finger on the Chapter to mark it
Geet stood up and made her way towards Maan.
Maan: "We can freeze the time for 2 hours" he said and smirked in victory.
Geet smiled.
Maan smiled along with her. He was proud of himself, that he found the spell before Abhay.
Geet: "So what do we have to do?" she asked, looking at the chapter.
Maan: "Two immortals, have to hold hands and then say 'Freeze" he said
Geet: "That's it? That's so simple" she said and grabbed Maan's hand.
Maan's hand felt warm in hers. They interwined their fingers together and suddenly, Geet felt her heart do a sommersault inside her chest. It's been so long since they held hands.
Geet looked behind her at the window. She could see the huge waves coming towards the building they were in. She could see a tree falling into the muddy water and she could see houses break and collapse into the water. She then turned her head and looked at Meera who smiled. She mouthed "Good luck" and then smiled wider this time. She then looked at Abhay who had his trademark, lopsided smile on. He winked.
Geet's heart did another sommersault.
She then looked back at Maan who was looking straight ahead, but he squeezed her hand in reassurance.
She felt safe again. She knew that even this tsunami couldn't seperate Maan and Geet. They were inseperable.
Geet: "I'm going to count to 3. After that, we both say freeze. Got it?" she said
Maan didn't like to be ordered, but he nodded anyway.
Geet: "One... Two... Three..."
"Freeze!" they both said in unison.
And suddenly, the clock which was tick tocking in the room stopped. Meera, who was huddled in the corner had her head between her knees, frozen. The chandelier which was swaying was frozen to one side and the tsunami outside, was also frozen.
It was only Geet, Maan, and Abhay who were moving.
Geet: "Now we need to find out how to undo this tsunami. Will the spell of that be in this book?" she asked
The Book of Immortal Powers was a book the thickness of a Harry Potter book. Maybe even thicker. It was going to take them ages to skim through the book. Probably an hour would be gone by the time they had gone through the whole book.
Maan bent down and started skimming the book again. Abhay held the torch for him.
Geet looked outside the window at the tsunami.
Geet: "I'll be right back" she said and then exited her flat. She ran down stairs and dodged some people who were frozen. They were probably yelling and trying to exit the flat.
She stepped outside and then went towards the direction of the tsunami.
She finally stood outside the tsunami and she looked around herself. She had never seen a tsunami before in real life. The wave was right above her head, Geet was scared if she touched it, it would come crashing down on her.
She looked at the other, frightened people around her. She had an idea.
She went up to some people near the huge waves and dragged them farther away from the tsunami. She did this until all the people near the big waves were slightly farther away. If they couldn't stop the tsunami, at least they had a chance to escape.
She rubbed her hands together and then went back inside her flat.
Geet: "Found anything?" she said
Abhay: "No"
Maan was still skimming through the book. He wasn't even halfway through it yet.
Geet sighed and then sat beside the frozen Meera. Suddenly, she remembered her parents'. She wished her parents' were here beside her. She wanted to sniff in her mum's lavender scent which always calmed her when she was scared. She wanted to eat the roadside Golguppe and relish the spicy taste.
Maan suddenly turned his head and then looked at Geet. He narrowed his eyes like he always did when he knew something was wrong. He murmered something to Abhay. Geet couldn't hear what he said but he probably said something about looking through the book because he started to head towards her.
Maan bent down beside Geet and then engulfed her in his arms. A fresh new shiver ran up Geet's spine as she hid her face in Maan's chest. He was warm and he smelt amazing, like always. It had been so long since they kissed, hugged, or even touched each other.
She hugged him back tightly.
Maan nuzzled his face in her neck and then lightly kissed it.
Geet whimpered.
Geet: "Can we stop this tsunami?" she muffled in his chest.
Maan didn't say anything. After a while, Geet had lost hope. They couldn't.
Maan: "Maybe" he suddenly said after a while.
Suddenly, Geet's hopes rised up again.
