as for the readings go
she can start with Russian tales
then she can gradually proceed to srories like cinderella, snow white, rum pil stil skin, etc.
this gradual reading will help develop her mind You are very right, I had already had this in mind, I decided to start her off with Cinderella since it's so close to her own life... in fact I am nearly done writing the whole scene.....
as I got it, she still is a 5 yr old in her behaviour, so she should first start up with th ebooks of that age, stories like Ant and the Grasshopper, rolling bun, thirsty crow, mouse and the lion, unity of the birds, etc., Wow.... interesting suggestions.... these she can read along with little Abhi..... Perfect!
then she can advance to comedy of errors, as you like it, sindbad tales, goliath, beauty and the beast, three muskeeters etc., hmmm....
she can also red Enid blytons works, though they may confuse her as they are not based on Indian schooling
then moving to read tempest, my chocolate soldier, far from the madding crowd, even hindi novels like Swati, sujata, Prema, godaan, chandra haar, life sketches of renowned personales, jhansi ki rani, OMG!.... I can make her *watch* Jhansi ki Rani..... perfect display of women power and strength along with the need to fight for the right and not tolerate the wrong! ) OMG! thank you so much your suggestions are giving me too many ideas! 😆
she can also read poems by Maha devi verma, her poems ar e very inspiring hmmm... will read it myself and try to incorparate it in the story...
in th end I would like her to read Kamayani by jaishankar prasad , that is an excellent peice of work and requires a lot of patience and understanding, she will definately like it Hmmm... what is the novel about?..... any particular subject or message it gives to the readers?
if you want her she can read an experiment with truth, discovery of India, Love Story, Time traveller, though they are not my favourites but many people like them Thank you so much Shruti for suggestion such great novels....

Jhan, I understand your in activeness regarding commenting because well i also work and have the craziest hours so yah.... it's okay.... 😆

Geet DOES know English..... the few times she has spoken it was in English so yah.... she is very educated which was mentioned in one of the parts.....

as for your suggestion.... I will have to google the book because I haven't heard about it..... so will read the plot to understand the story..... I do not have the time to read the novel...... 😆

"Pride & Prejudice" can be one. as it shows so many colours of life and different emotions of one person toward the other. Illusion and reality mingled together create another impression. Just as life and our opinion about people and reality.

I never got the chance to read the book but I watched the movie! 😆 let's see what my mind conjures up for this novel......

hey! Thanks for the preview. Now, as far as the books are concerned, I have two suggestions.

1. As i am a huge fan of the Chicken Soup series, i would say that Geet could read that. It contains personal experiences of people from around the world, and they are real of course. So it helps a lot to know that other people who suffered got out of their suffering through their loved ones help! you are right, I had already planned on this whole Geet learning about others who have suffered in life and overcame it.... so I will definetely be using your suggestion on Geet reading Chicken Soup series.....

2. One more book that i read and relate it with ur FF is "I hadn't meant to tell you this" by Jacquiline Woodson.

I Hadn't Meant To Tell You This is the story of Lena, a new white girl in a school that's population is mostly black. Marie, who is an upper class African-American becomes the unlikely friend to Lena, who usually looks dirty and unkempt next to the fashionable and popular Marie.

Right here ' right with this friendship I was already liking the book. With both families frowning on their daughters friendship with someone who is "another color" . I appreciated that this book was in contrast to many others I have read, and it is Marie's family that had the money and the nice home was the African-American family, and it is Lena's home that is in the bad neighborhood.

This book gets deep when Lena confides in her friend Marie that her father is touching her inappropriately. Marie, who has never been around such a think has a hard time wrapping her mind around this, even accusing Lena of lying for attention. This subject in the book, as well as Marie's reaction to it, seems very well written'. I can picture it happening.

Lena makes Marie promise not to tell anyone and this is another part of the book where you watch Marie try to help without being able to. All she can do is look out for Lena when she can.

So, here, Meera could be a friend like Marie, to Geet. Perfect! I am so going to make Geet read this novel.... thank you for giving such a detailed summary, it helped me in understanding the story.... this novel is certainly going on my to read list!

As of now, these are the two that i can think of. Probably later on, i'd give you a few more.

Update soon. 😊

Some good novels:
Little Women: great one on female power and sibling love
Of Mice and Men: a simple yet complex novel that greatly showcases friendship and looking out for the other
The Diary of Anne Frank: I have a feeling Geet may be able to relate to this book. Though the novel is about a young girl in hiding with her family during the Nazi occupation of Netherlands, it's a great book showcasing will power and what the girl went through during those 2 years when she was with her family, all hiding in an attic.
Gone with the Wind: There's a lot to learn from this novel...apart from the relationship between Scarlet & Butler, the way Scarlet's character grows from that of a young girl to a woman is interesting.

Sorry to say but you will stay confused about this HE for a long time.... at least until i figure out how to solve the HE mystery..... 😆😕

WOW! so many have mentioned LIttle Women..... one of my fav novels so yah i am using this one....

OF mice and Men..... well read the plot and see if i can write a scene on this one....

Diary of Anne Frank: I can;t believe you mentioned this novel 😭😭😭 One of my close friends is acting as Anne in a play but I can't watch her performance because she lives in a different state 😭😭😭 I really wanted to see her act! Anyways, thank you for this suggestion, I can't believe I didn't think of this with all the talks about the play......

Gone wiht the Wind: I LOVE THIS BOOK but I love the movie more 😆 Cark Gable was my first crush! I was more in love with his character of Rhett Butler ☺️ 😍 I already have a scene forming in my head right now..... I think I will make Geet watch the movie.... she might just experience her first celebrity crush! *hint* *hint*😉

Thank you for appreciating my post
as per Kamayani is concerned, it is for much later reading
The plot is based on the Vedic story where Manu(the hero), the man surviving after the deluge (pralaya) is emotionless (Bhavanasunya). Manu starts getting involved in various emotions, thoughts and actions. These are sequentially portrayed with Shraddha, Ida, Kilaat and other characters playing there part, contributing in them. The chapters are named after the emotions, thoughts or actions. Some people consider that the sequence of chapters denotes the change of personality in a mans life with age.
it is the most famous works in the literature
the words used are bold and beautiful
the lines when read aloud
they are not a easy to understand verses
I still read some and find a new meaning to them
as I have grown up I have found that the verse that meant something a year back now its meaning is completely different for me
I really like it every thime it feels as if you are reading it for the first time
it depicts every emotion that can be thought of

Anxiety, Hope, belief, Faith, Virtue of being a woman, Sexual love, Passion for material pleasure, Shyness, Action, Jealousy, Logic, Intellect, Dream, Internal conflict, Disregard of worldly things, Renunciation, Philosophy, Vision, Hidden knowledge, Myster, Bliss, and Self-realization

first verse
him giri ke uttanj shikar par,
baith shila ki sheetal chavaun
ek purush bheege naino se
dekh raha tha praval pravaaha
neeche jal tha uupar him tha
ek taral tha ek saghan
ek tatva ki pradhantaa
kaho use jadh ya chetan
Shruti
'Gitanjali Tagore Ki Jaise Maine Dekhi, Samjhi'
I don't know if this can help because I have not read this book
but it is said to the most accurate translation of Gitangali by Tagore
'pride and the preduice' as many suggested is a nice novel one of my favorite but this I think will not suit your FF,
I don't know your age but if it in case matches mine than you would have watched a serial on DD1 named 'TRISHNA' casting kitu gidwani as the youngest daughter. that serial is the good Indian version of the novel and if you are refering to the movie in which aishwarya rai played LIZA then I will say forget it, I hated that movie it destroyed the essence of the novel, Jane Austen would be cursing the makers
that novel is a romantic one far from the Indian culture, it is all about how a mother wants to get her daughters married off to rich men, it's up to you
it was plainly my POV though I loved that novel have read it about 100 times. the list of good novels id endless. but what I got from your question was that you need something which would help her not just amuse her.
