Yeah, I know I'm late.
Early next morning (Like really early. Like 5:30 AM wala early):
"La la la la la - OMG Naina, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE????" Shilpa was skipping along, humming like a lil girl, on her way to start an early morning jog, when she almost fell over Naina, who was sitting on the sidewalk outside the apartment building.
"Shilpa!!! Thank God tum nikal aayi! I knew you'd take a walk this morning."
"How'd you know???" asked Shilpa, still catching her breath.
"Just one of those things..." shrugged Naina. "Listen yaar, I really really need to talk to you about something!!" Naina was on her feet in a second.
"Oh. About time, too," said Shilpa, putting her hands on her hips and looking at Naina sternly.
"I - what?" Naina lost her thread of thought.
"It's about Yuvi isn't it?" said Shilpa. "ISN'T IT????"
"I - but - HOW DID YOU KNOW????" Naina said in a bewildered tone.
Shilpa got all happy and started clapping. "Yayayayayayay! I'm so happy for you Naina! I knew it'llwork out in the end!" Shilpa hugged a stunned Naina. "I promise to organise your wedding and design your wedding dress and - "
Naina pushed Shilpa away, "Oh God, Shilpa, tum yeh kya keh rahi ho?"
Now it was Shilpa's turn to look bewildered. "But - but - I thought you said you were in love with Yuvi - "
"WHAAAT?" spluttered Naina, looking horrified. "Are you insane?? i just said I needed to talk about him!!!! Who told you Iwas in love with him? WHO SAID THAT????"
Shilpa kicked herself internally. "Arre Naina, calm down, I was just kidding I swear!" said Shilpa, crossing her fingers behind her skirt. "Now - what did you want to say?"
Before Naina could do more than open her mouth, Sue, using her usual ninja-like skills to appear out of nowhere, was right with them. "Naina! SHILPA YOU'RE BACK!!!!"
"SUE!!!" *soul-sister hug*
"Sue," said Naina, smiling. "What's up?"
"I think Sid and Ridz Di slept with each other."
"Oh that's nice," said Naina absent-mindedly. Pause. Then Shilpa and Naina burst out together, "WHAAAT?"
"Yeah," said Sue nonchalantly, twirling the end of her ponytail on her finger. "I mean, I'm not sure but...oh God, I was so embarrassed, you guys have NO idea..."
"Oh my GOD, Sue, tell me QUICK, what happened!!!!" said Shilpa almost jumping up and down in excitement.
"Ha, well, I guess I should have been more careful while giving Ridz Di her nightdress...perhaps I shouldn't have picked out something like a halter top and shorts..."
"You - did - not!!" said Shilpa, in a shocked voice. Naina had a slight smile on her face.
"Yaar, I know, but my mind was on the late night sample sale, I could not miss it - "
"Ralph Lauren? Or Chanel?" said Shilpa sympathetically.
"Ralph Lauren," confirmed Sue sadly. "Anyway. so when I got back, I searched the whole house for Superboy, and he wasn't anywhere, and his phone was in his room so I knew he hadn't gone anywhere. So I went to the last place: Ridzy's room."
Naina was interested in spite of herself. "Oh God, was he there?" she said, her eyes wide (typical Naina expression. I LOVE Neha Jhulka!)
"Well, I was knocking for at least 2 WHOLE minutes, and no one came to open the door, which was locked, so I yelled for her to open up. She did, almost at once, with her hair really messed up and her clothes all wrinkled. But Bro wasn't there."
"Right. So then what?" asked Naina.
"Guess," said Sue.
"Was the window open?????" asked Shilpa suddenly.
"Spot on!!!" said Sue delightedly, high-fiving Shilpa. "And then within 2 minutes Superboy came through the front door, claiming to have gone out for a walk. Ha, as if!! He never goes ANYWHERE without his Blackberry!! Like EVER!!!! Oh and yeah, his shirt was all wrinkled too. I had to hide my face, coz I was so red...Oh God, what have I gotten myself into!" Naina and Shilpa looked sympathetic as SUe continued. "I mean if they have had their C-night without even getting married -"
"What's a C-night?" interrupted Naina
"Oh that's just a joke we've made up," said Shilpa sheepishly. "You know, C-night. After you get married."
*Telepathic girl-to-girl understanding*
"Rrright," said Naina in an "Ohhh" voice.
"Annyway, if they've had their C-night without even getting married, that's not a good thing! It's terrible, in fact!!"
"WHY is it so terrible for you??" asked Naina.
The soul-sisters answered together, "Because then there'll be no point in us decorating their honeymoon suite for them!!!!"
Naina opened her mouth to argue this point, but Sue ploughed on, "And it'll be all my fault, because I know it was that stupid outfit that triggered everything. You just need a match to set something so hot on fire," *sniggers from Shilpa* "So yeah!!" she finished dramatically, and looked at the other two for a full moment. Then all, three of them, for no reason at all, started laughing their heads off.
--------
While this conversation took place, Riddhima was still sleeping at Sue's/Sid's place. She woke up with a start for no reason whatsoever, but it turned out that, errr, she had left the window from last night open. And Sid was climbing in through it.
Riddhima was sure she was dreaming. After all, why would Sid climb through a window in his own home? So after observing Sid for a few seconds, she lay back down, and closed her eyes. Her rib was hurting again, no doubt due to the over-exertion it suffered yesterday. At the point last night, the adrenaline had been to high for Ridzy to acknowledge any pain in her stupid rib, but it was getting its revenge now.
Meanwhile, Sid was grinning at Riddhima's reaction to his entry. He went over to her bed and lowered his head to be level with hers, and then blew gently in her face so that her hair tickled her as it moved backwards. "Sid , stop it," she mumbled, still half-asleep. Then something in her consciousness must've stirred, because she was suddenly wide awake and sat up so quickly that she nearly hit Sid in the face (but missed, luckily) in her haste.
"OH MY GOD SID WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???"
"I live here in case you haven't noticed," said Sid, chuckling.
Riddhima's head spun. These were the exact same words he had said last night. SO that meant...that last night really had happened. The memory brought blood rushing to Riddhima's face, as she self-consciously drew the bed covers closer to herself.
"Errr, let's start this conversation again," said Riddhima. Sid raised his eyebrows. Clearing her throat, she said, "Oh hey Sid. Kya haal hai? You're up early..."
"Oh hey Ridzy. I'm great. I'm perfect in fact. What about you?" The casual effect was ruined slightly (yes, I'm being sarcastic) by Sid leaning forward to Ridzy's face, his eyes closed.
Riddhima's reflexes were slow. It was early morning, she had just woken up, and her amazingly awesome boyfriend was leaning in to kiss her. What was she supposed to do?
As it was, she let him kiss her. (Wow, I so did not see that coming )
The kiss was sweet and simple. None of the burning passion of last night, but Riddhima still loved it. And when Sid pulled back and rested his forehead against hers, his hand and hers entwined and almost level with their faces, Riddhima thought that those words were exactly right to describe her and Sid's love.
Sweet and simple. *
"I love you Sid, you know that?" said Riddhima as they opened their eyes and their gazes locked.
"Ha, you bet!" said Sid, grinning. "However, the question is - " *rustle of bed sheets. Ta-da!!! Sid had pinned down Riddhima to the bed and he was above her *, "- do you?"
"OHMYGOD SID GERROFFMENOW!!!"
"You're not answering my question..."
"Yes yes I do! LET ME GET UP NOW!!!"
"Say please..."
"PLEASE let me get up, Sid!" Then *brainwave* "Ouch Sid, my RIB!"
Sid was off of Riddhima in an instant, his grin replaced by a worried frown, "Oops, Riddhima, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you, I "
"Gotcha," said Riddhima suddenly, tweaking his nose and then rushing off to the bathroom before further 'incidents' could take place. (Ha! You - wish!)
Sid was, as usual, left bewildered by the suddenness of Ridzy's actions. God, she was so unpredictable! Going over to the bathroom door, he knocked on it tentatively. "Yes?" came Riddhima's voice, muffled.
Sid answered her slowly and in a threatening voice, "Vengeance... shall be mine."
------------
"Right, so Naina, what was it you were saying to me?" said Shilpa finally, after the three of them concluded a long conversation on the previously started topic.
"Huh? Wha - oh yeah!" said Naina, remembering, as they got into Sue's car. "Yeah, well, it's kinda embarrassing, I don't know how to start -"
"OH MY GOD YOU'RE IN LOVE WITH YUVI AREN'T YOU?!?!?!" said Sue, starting up the engine a bit too violently (poor car).
"WHAT??? Why is it that both of you jumped to the exact same conclusion without even waiting for me to finish?" said Naina irritably, scratching her head in despair.
"Oh - err - I was just kidding! Yeah! Just joking, Naina! Yeesh, why are you so touchy this morning?" said Sue quickly.
"OR, why are you so touchy about Yuvi, eh Naina?" said Shilpa in a naughty voice, winking conspicuously at Sue.
Naina rolled her eyes. "Listen you two. I am not in love with Yuvi. I will never be in love with him. Or anyone else for that matter. I NEVER want to be in love, you got that?"
"What? WHY? Love is such an awesomely wonderful thing!!! How can you NOT want to fall in love, Naina?" Shilpa asked, while Sue murmured her agreement, her eyes on the road.
"Forget it," said Naina, a rough edge entering her tone. Sue and Shilpa exchanged glances again, more serious ones this time. "Do you want to listen about my Yuvi problem or not?" said Naina impatiently.
Shilpa was about to say, "Oh, your Yuvi! Gettingg possessive already, my girl!!" But Sue interjected quickly, shooting Shilpa a warning look, "Yup, of course, go on Naina." She mouthed 'later' to Shilpa.
Naina missed this exchange between the soulsisters as she started, "Well, you see, I'm telling you guys so that you can help me solve this problem. I don't want to get myself tangled into this mess, so I have to end this before it's too late and real damage is done! Can you IMAGINE what I think the problem is?"
"Is Yuvi doing drugs?" asked Sue, shocked.
"Is he dealing drugs?" asked Shilpa, equally shocked.
"Is he in jail?"
"Is he involved in human trafficking?"
"Is he thinking of suicide?"
"Is he going to jump off a plane without a parachute?"
"Is he going to be a B-grade Bollywood movie actor and his next film is opposite Mallika Sherawat?????" asked Sue in a high-pitched voice. Naina and Shilpa looked at her with what-the-hell? expressions.
"Ha ha, sorry I just felt like saying that. Shilpa, your turn," said Sue.
"Oh, good one! Oh right, my turn! Umm - Does he want to learn tap-dancing?" said Shilpa, wincing horribly. (She hates tap-dancing)
"Ok, seriously, you guys are freaking me out. What do you do in your spare time?" asked Naina exasperatedly. Shilpa opened her mouth to answer, but Naina said, "Don't answer that. But no. The truth is much much worse than that." she ended sadly.
Sue and Shilpa listened to this ominous tiding in silence for a few moments. "Well, I can't think of anything," said Sue.
"Me neither. Just tell us Naina," pleaded Shilpa.
Naina took a deep breath and said, "You know what? I think Yuvi's in love with someone."
Several things happened at once: Shilpa's phone started ringing really loudly, Sue, in her shock, took a drastic turn, the tyres made a terrible screech, causing Naina to fall sideways in the back seat and hit her head on the window, while Shilpa's phone (still ringing loudly) flew out of her hand and hit Sue on the head, who panicked and hit the brakes, making another screech and making Shilpa and Naina lurch in their seats.
The three of them shouted together:
Shilpa: Love-hating-crazy-girl-Naina, say WHAAAT????
Sue: OUCH MY HEAD!
Naina: SUE, DRIVE CAREFULLY, CAN'T YOU???
Sue: How do you expect me to keep my head during a revelation like this????
Naina: How can I not????
Shilpa: I'm so sorry Sue! You're not hurt are you?? OMFG, my phone!!!
Her poor phone was lying between the brake and the accelarator, still giving off an annoying beeping tone, getting louder with each ring. Sue hurriedly picked it up before the call could end, and handed it over to Shilpa. Shilpa put the receiver to her mouth, "Hello?"
"Shilpa? Where are you?" asked Anjali in a sleepy voice.
"Oh, Anjie? I'm with Sue and Naina, why?"
"Oh. Nothing. Just wanted to make sure you weren't dead or kidnapped or anything. Have fun!"
"But -"
*click*
"What the heck is wrong with the world today???" said Shilpa in exasperation. Turning to Sue, she said, "Sue, let's go to your place, now."
"Got it," said Sue, turning the car around full circle.
"Now Naina, explain your theory. Quickly!!!!" said Shilpa.
"I still think a B-grade Bollywood movie opposite Mallika Sherawat is worse," muttered Sue.
-------------
Riddhima made her way to the kitchen to get something to eat. Slowly, slowly, so that her rib wouldn't re-act. Sid was currently nowhere to be seen, so Riddhima heaved a sigh of relief. (or regret? One of these anyway...)
She set about looking for something to eat. Being unfamiliar with the kitchen, it was some time before she found a box of cereal, since she wasn't in a mood for cooking so early in the morning. Ok. Cereal, Check. Spoon, check. Bowl...not check. Putting the box of cereal down, she started looking for a bowl when suddenly -
"GOTCHA!!!" someone grabbed her from around her waist and had pinned her to the wall before she had time to scream.
No prizes for guessing who.
"DON'T SNEAK UP ON ME LIKE THAT SID!!!!" yelled Riddhima, her heart doing 100km/h.
"Revenge is sweet, Riddhima. I think you can appreciate that," said Sid, trying to suppress his laughter at Riddhima's "OMFGWHATHAPPENED" expression, as Riddhima tried to hit him. "God, how can I love and hate a person so much at the same time?" said Riddhima in a mock exasperated voice, while Sid laughed and she tried to find a loophole in Sid's defenses.
"Want me to demonstrate?" said Sid suddenly in a serious voice.
"Wha - no. Don't demonstrate anything Sid! I'm warning you!" said Riddhima in a dangerous voice. Sid's demonstrations usually involved her brain shutting off in a most annoying *cough* way and she didn't want that to happen.
Ok, so she did. But she was mortified that Sue would come in any moment.
"I'm sorry, did you say something?" said Sid casually, pushing her into a more secure position against the wall while replacing a lock of hair behind her ear. (OH GOD. This reminds me so painfully of the lift wala scene). "Sid - Sid, let me go," said Riddhima trying to squirm out of his grip, but he only came more closer to her so that the space between their bodies was reduced to nothing.
"Hmmm?" said Sid as if he hadn't heard her, an innocent look of enquiry on his face. Their heads were level now. Sid was zeroing in above her, closing the gap between their faces.
"I -" Riddhima was quite comfortable where she was, thank you very much. She just didn't want to ruin the moment with her blabbing, especially with Sid's smouldering gaze fixed on hers.
"Riddhima?" whispered Sid when their lips were just a breath away.
"Yeah Sid?" she replied while looking into his eyes. (No annoying little sister was worth missing this! *sighs contentedly*)
"I just want to tell you that I love you more than you can ever imagine. I'll never leave your side no matter what happens. Unless of course you want me to," he added, flashing a wry smile.
"I guess that means you'll be with me forever then," whispered Riddhima passionately, as she pulled his head closer and pressed her lips to his.
Even though they must have kissed like a zillion times by now (Ok, not that much. Maybe like...12? 10? Can some devoted reader please go and count them????) this kiss felt as new and fresh as if it was their first one. Riddhima still got butterflies in her stomach. Sid still felt intoxicated. Both of them still wanted to grip the other tighter, pull them closer, and never let go. They stayed like this for a long time, lips moulding together, hearts thumping wildly, Riddhima's hand in his hair, Sid's hand around her waist. And they only broke apart, long moments later, when the doorbell rang and someone hammered impatiently at the front door.
Siddhima pulled apart. And groaned. (HA!!!)
Sid went to open the door. And guess who it was? Nope, your guess in incorrect.
It was Yuvi.
Or you can just stop thinking about stupid stuff and digest whatever I give you. It's called fiction for a reason. }
Yuvi gave his lazy grin. "Nope. Not a bit." Eyeing Sid more carefully, he said, "Riddhima stay over?"
Sid blinked. "Um, yea. Hoe'd you know?"
Yuvi coughed suggestively and removed his gaze to the floor, "Need to *cough* fix your hair *cough* after romancing session *cough cough*." Sid punched Yuvi on the shoulder in response. (A bit hard. Guys hit each other really hard, even if they're kidding. I've noticed)
"Owww, dude! I was kidding! Kidding!" Yuvi protested. "Can I like, come in? I need to talk to you about something. And Riddhima too in fact."
"Well since you've already done the honour of gracing my house with your presence, I guess you'd better."
They made their way to the kitchen, where Riddhima was already seated, clothes immaculate, not a hair out of place. (Girls. ;D) And she goes all casually, "Hey Yuvi! What's up yaar?"
Yuvi smirked to himself. Sid hit him again. Both of them sat down as Yuvi said, "You're certainly up early. What've you two been up to?"
"Nothing." said Riddhima quickly as she concentrated on her bowl, her cheeks reddening. "I could ask you the same you know. What're YOU up to this early."
Yuvi sighed, his teasing demeanor totally vanished. "I just wanted to tell you guys something. It's been bugging me for a while, but... I just wanted to share it with someone. Know what I mean?"
"Yeah I do," said Riddhima, while Sid opened his mouth to interrupt. Yuvi went on, "Guys, I - I think - I think - I think -"
"Spit it out dude! What do you think?" said Sid impatiently.
"Ah Yuvi," said Riddhima sympathetically. "You're in love with someone aren't you?"
Sid gagged on the piece of toast he was eating and started coughing uncontrollably. Riddhima looked at him exasperatedly before saying to Yuvi, "I'm right, right?"
Yuvi nodded sadly. "Yup. You are. Ok, now I'm done, I really should be going -"
"Oh no you're not," said Riddhima pulling him back into his chair. "Not before you tell us who it is!"
"Yeah dude!!" said SId enthusiastically, recovered from his coughing fit. "Who's the girl? Or guy, you never know these days..."
"Si-id!" said Riddhima reproachfully. Then to Yuvi, "Chalo na, batao!"
"WHAAAT?????" Sid got up so suddenly his plate fell to the ground. (Thankfully it didn't break since it was plastic :P) "Do you mean to say you've actually fallen for my tornado of a baby sister?? Yuvraaj Oberoi you're gonna wish you were never - "
"Haha, just messing with you Sid," said Yuvi grinning. "No, it's not Sue, who, you might be interested to know, is only a year younger than you and not a baby how ever much of a tornado she is. But, the point is, I'm in love. And I'm in love with Naina. Naina Mehta. Who hates me to the eternal pit of hell," he finished sadly as this time Riddhima spat out the milk and cornflakes she had been about to swallow.
"WHAAAT?????" she yelled. Yuvi sighed. "You two are so alike, it's scary," he said, referring to Sid and Riddhima. "Yes, that's the sad story of my life, can I please go now?"
"But I thought you wanted to talk about it -" said Riddhima recovering from her shock quickly.
"Nope. I just needed to tell someone. I'll talk later. Thanks for listening. Just don't tell anyone, understand? Bye," and Yuvi was out of the door within two seconds.
"Yuvi, WAIT!" said Sid and Ridzy together as they ran towards the entrance. They were just at the main door just in time to hear the engine of a car revving. And Yuvi was gone. Just like that.
For a second Siddhima just stood there at the door, too stunned to move or speak or something. Then Riddhima said, "Wow."
"Yeah," said Sid. "Can't say I'm surprised though. I knew this would happen."
"You did?" said RIddhima, surprised. "How come?"
"I don't really know. It's just something I picked up. I guess it's only a matter of time before Naina falls for him too." said Sid in an uncertain kind of voice.
"What makes you so sure about that, Sid?" said Riddhima, turning to face him.
"Just guessing here," he replied with a shrug. "Maybe she won't. Maybe Yuvi'll think it's just a crush and get over it. Maybe not. I'm no expert on these matters, unlike my sister and yours." he added with a grin.
"Well, you got that right," said Riddhima, giggling, as Sid faced her too. Their gazes locked, both of them smiling. BUT before anything else could happen, a second car pulled into the driveway.
Naina (rolling her eyes): Yes yes, I can barely see for the love in the air. Can we get out now???
The three of them got out, Sue and Shilpa beaming, while Naina looked disgruntled.
"Heyyy you two!!" said Sue cheerily, as Shilpa hugged her sister. "Hey guys," said Naina.
"OMG, Sid bhaiya, Di, we have something really really interesting to tell you!" said SHilpa, bouncing up and down in excitement. ANd without for a response, she said, "NAINA THINKS YUVI'S IN LOVE!!!"
"WHHAAAT????" Sid and Riddhima were shocked out of their wits. "WITH WHOM??"
"We don't know," said Sue sadly. "But she thinks there definitely is someone!!"
Sid and Riddhima exchanged glances. Riddhima then said, "Errr, why don't you tell us, why you think this? C'mon, let's have breakfast, everyone."
Everyone went inside.
Oh God, please don't kill me for such a stupid update. I know, there was absolutely almost NOTHING that took the story forward, but I was really hyper throughout the writing, and couldn't write anything else. This update kinda wrote itself, and who am I to resist the flow of the pen (or keyboard) under the soul of a writer?
Ahaha, yeah, whatever. But if you havea n aptitude for liking idiotic stuff then this update is for you! I'm sorry for being so late again, but hope you liked it!
