Time for NY update Day 3:
I checked out Geet first thing in the morning. Totally impressed with the CV's today. After a very long time, the screen sizzled with Maan and Geet. I really cant count RTM sequence because, it was very much intentionally put in where the CV's were trying to show that their relationship could take a turn for better or for worse. The last time, this chemistry was seen only for the Kehna hi Kya Jhumka scene. They were close, there was every intention to kiss, but nothing happened. What can I say, I had to remind myself to breathe today after watching those 12mts of passionate proximity between Maan and Geet. That was totally the best saturday ever.
After Geet, I got ready and left for the city. Took the PATH as always and then a cab to MoMA. What can I say? In all the five floors of exhibits, only one floor was worth the $20 I paid as entrance fee. I could totally be wrong...dont go by my words. Modern art is like wine. If you are not used to it, you need an induction. You need someone to get you started on the right kind, let you know on how to smell and taste it. The fifth floor had the usuals like Dali, Magritte, Max Ernst, Monet, Pablo Picasso, Frida, Paul Develaux. For some reason, even if I don't get surrealism in the first go, I do enjoy Magritte, Max and Paul for they blow me away with the ideas they try to convey. I had studied a few of Magritte's works in Psych class and it helped me enjoy some of his pieces today, even though I couldn't decipher the message.
I enjoyed Monet and sat there enjoying his water lilly. It was....maybe I'm not the one to describe for I don't have the choicest of words to describe it
Once I went to the forth floor, it was all chaos. Ideas were not contained and I was clueless as to how to go about measuring the quality and appreciate them. The fact that I didn't know the effort that goes into creating such pieces totally had me disinterested there from the fourth floor onwards. I didn't need a companion there but I wanted someone or something that could talk about why they were created that way and what the sculptor or the painter was trying to convey.
Anyways I got out of MoMA after 2.5 hrs and then walked all the way to Rockefeller center. The roads were jam packed to see the Biggest tree in NY. I managed to squeeze in as I was single. People from all walks of life were there. I just stood there momentarily, clicked a few snaps and got out. I walked down 15 blocks or so to get to Madison Square Garden Borders and tried to connect from there. The interesting thing is that every time I stopped to cross at the light between the cross streets, I would hear a different language. I was sure, I heard, mandarin, German and the other sounded like lebanese...what not. The walk truly gave me a feel of NY.The wifi didn't work at Borders, so I'm at the usual Starbucks at 33rd and 5th. I have no complaints for it was an eventful day. I covered quite a bit. I will post a few snaps once I get back to SF. Two more days of NY and I still have a few places in my list that I'm yet to cross off. Hopefully I will be able to cover them before I leave this memorable city.
I'm going to stick to writing the update from the cafe until they close. I will be online in Gchat as usual.
Oh! by the way, couldn't resist two handbags while window shopping and yet another black hole in the purse. Sob Sob!
Catch you people soon with the update.
