Chapter 4
My life has taken a massive turn in just a month. None to love a while ago, I can feel myself falling for my wife.
Life was no more the same..I am now, the husband of Riddhima Malik.
A crazy yet gorgeous bride by my side, an entire married life ahead of me, loads of expectations which needs fulfillment , yet theres nothing that can creep me out! ..I'm Armaan Malik.
Doctor Armaan Malik-husband of Dr. Riddhima Gupta Malik.
Age? 24 years.
Hobbies? Bike or Car Racing, Football, Extreme gaming, good music, extreme sports and my guitar.
What made me come back to India?
Well, I belong to NY (New York). My parents insistence and furthermore, my mother's emotional blackmail made me come back to India; the very next month I was being sent on a honeymoon with a stranger.
Things that are a huge mystery to me (and I hate it!):
Girls [I don't try to understand them not], this entire marriage [Left all hopes], How can people enjoy reading books? [This is something I don't want to try], Taylor Swift and her songs [Whats with that chick!?], Twilight [Ugh! No comments], Riddhima [This pointer is an exception though, I don't hate her..]
My kind of food?
No specific kind actually..Anything eat worthy when I'm hungry (which I'm most of the time). I don't care what I'm eating as long as it falls in the category of 'food'. [Unlike my wifey-Uhh, she is very choosy]
Having spent over 3 days with my wife, I was absolutely positive about one thing- Riddhima was nothing similar to the other girls I've dated. She can be seriously unpredictable at times. You might think you know her..but you don't.
Description of my wife:
All you see is a cute little doll sitting in one corner of the room. The least do you know, the doll is a devil. She loves talking bullshit! [Ahh, I love that too]..She can talk about any thing and everything..
Everything depends on her 'mood'. Her mood is something which is never constant *Smiles*
Other things which Mrs Malik doesn't show. She is a total softie on the inside. She loves her family and friends. She will never let you know if she is hurt. She prefers not showing her tears.
Emotional, lovable, random..She is my Riddhima. :) Hate her, love her but you surely can't ignore her. *Smiles*
Now comes the real question..How did I agree to this marriage?
For Riddhima it was Dr. Shashank Gupta (Yes, I know that. Comon! I'm her husband..atleast gimme some credit.)
For me the reason was more than family..it was something else...
______________
Our very first meeting..
It was a fortnight after I had come back to India, Riddhima's parents had arranged a bride-groom meeting, so that we get to know each other.
Venue? Some hotel, whose name is not necessary.
The very first bride-groom meeting and I was an hour late. Riddhima can really be impatient at times, this situation being one of them.
I entered the hotel and walked inside. She'd meet me in the restaurant is what I was told.
"Good, atleast I'll get to know her and not one of her 'dear ones'.." I thought.
The fact that I had decided to meet Riddhima was just because I had an inner urge- urge to know her. My wish dint get fulfilled then, as her entire friends group landed with Dr. Gupta.
"I should have guessed it." I sighed at the view ahead of me (definitely not a treat for eyes!)
"Hey, Armaan?" One of Riddhima's friends saw me approaching them and called out.
"Yeah." I had no option but to smile.
"Hey, I'm Preeti. Riddhima's best friend." (What a best friend! As learned already, I don't even try to understand girls)
"Hi, Preeti." We shook hands.
"Oh, my god. So hot!" I heard her friends giggle (I'm not deaf, people!)
"So, Armaan Malik." Preeti scanned me from head-to-toe, or checking me out (rolls eyes). She seemed impressed, and flattered.
"Hobbies?" Soon the questions came pouring in..
"Loads of them.." I replied in short with a fake smile.
"Name three..." (shutup, will you?)
"Racing, guitar, and video games"
"What kind of racing? Bike/stunting/car?" (Who're you? Madam Detetive Turner)
"All of them.." I replied with a smile.
"Whoa." The girls stared at me in awe (Uncomfortable)
All this while, I just sat there looking at her. She looked gorgeous with all the silence, while her friends fired questions at me.
"Any girl you've dated?" Another chick asked me, leaning her body on the table.
"Excuse me?" Her question startled me. I mean did she even know the word
P R I V A C Y? I guess no.
"Oh, don't worry..You can share anything." (Uhh, I don't think so.) The pinkish-female near Riddhima winked at me.
"Uhh, Okay" I took another sip of my drink.
"Yes, I've dated earlier." I nodded.
"How many?" All of Riddhima's friends seemed to much interested in me, while the bride herself sat in silence. Comon! You're the one getting married to me, will you speak OR NOT!?
"I don't know." I gave them a are-you-kidding-me look.
"You dint count?" A dumb question [I want to commit suicide now :)]
"Why'll I sit and count the number of my girlfriends?" I had enough. Hence, I had begun retorting back.
"Because, its your duty."
"Duty to do nothing but sit and count girlfriends?" I narrowed my eyes at them. They were being unbelievable! It was irritating the hell out of me.
"Yes."
"Okay, 2." I lied. There was no use arguing. I want my wife to know everything about me, and not her friends.
"Just 2?" She seemed surprised at the low count. I bet she had expected way more than that.
I looked at Riddhima, she seemed equally surprised. I gave her a I-am-sorry look and she seemed to understand.
"Yes." I replied and sighed.
"Okay, we're done now." Ahh, thank you lord! I felt like standing on the table and dancing then.
"Thats it?" I asked them sarcastically.
"You want more?" The pinkish-female again leaned on, flirtateously. God, gift her some thinking power!!
"I don't mind." I leaned back flirtateously. I seriously dint want to do that. I had no interest in her, or her friends..I was just plain frustrated.
"That's it Swati." Is it my ears ringing, or was it Riddhima Gupta finally speaking? *dances*
"I want to talk to him alone. Give me a moment." The girls nodded awkwardly and left.
Soon it was just the two of us sitting there and talking. Oh, did I tell you? she was looking beautiful. *Smiles*
"Umm, I'm really sorry." Riddhima spoke softly.
"Its fine." I smiled.
"Do YOU have any questions?" I continued.
"Umm, yes." She looked up at me.
"Shoot." I smiled. I dint mind her asking me questions. I'm sure her questions would be logical.
"Riddhima?" Ahh, who is it now! I looked up to see her friends standing there. And they are back.. :) Are they supposed to marry me too? *sarcastic smile*
"Aunty had just called. Its time." Preeti looked at me and spoke.
"Umm.." Riddhima found it hard to find words.
"It's ok. I understand completely, not your fault." I whispered. She nodded apologetically.
"Maybe some other time then.." I casually remarked and I saw Riddhima blush while her friends "aww-ed" (Another mystery. But I'd like to know this one)
"Bye."
"Bye." We both looked at each other; my heart skipped a beat.
And soon she was out of sight, but not out of mind. Agreed, Riddhima had spoken the least in the entire scenario (it was her marriage, dammit!). But somehow, she had managed to leave her impression. I told you, she was nothing like the other girls I've dated. She was completely opposite to what I had expected.
I knew Riddhima Gupta..
You might be surprised..Just one meeting and I know her?
But let me tell you something, this was not the first time I had met Dr. Riddhima Gupta :-) Now you know the reason to my marriage...
Oops! I've to go now. Okay, so I'll take your leave.
Loved talking you to people (Unlike Riddhima's friends)..
Armaan Malik.
