I enveloped her in my arms and walked with her to the bed. She sat down on one end and made me sit on the other. She took the two plates and served herself and me. I saw she was barely nibbling on the fruit and bread that she had put in her plate.

Before I could utter a word she ran towards the bath room leaving me shocked. I ran behind her and saw her vomiting whatever little she had eaten. She tried to open the tap but she wobbled. I held her and realized her temperature was again high.

I took her in my arms and placed her on the bed. She lied there as if she had no strength in her.

"Tum theek ho na,"I asked her covering her with a blanket.

She nodded her head and curled into a ball. I noticed she was cold. I closed the windows and put the blinds down.

She closed her eyes the moment the blinds were shut.

I closed the door and walked out to ask the doctor about her condition. Though I was a nervous wreck myself seeing her like that.

The doctor advised me to bring her to hospital. I told her she was sleeping. She said I could bring her when she gets up but I shouldn't make it late. I knew what she meant.

I went around the house checking if everything was ok and then went to the main house to change and take a shower.

I met dadi ma in the main house and told her that Geet was running a high temperature. She wanted to meet her then but I told her that Geet was sleeping. She nodded her head and I went ahead to my room.

It was about an hour later I was engrossed in my work that I heard a scream. I couldn't locate the source first but then when the voice was heard again I realized it came from the outhouse.

I ran tworads the outhouse and into the room to see Geet crying uncontrollably and shaking from head to toe.

I hugged her but her sobs didn't seem to die out. She kept murmuring

"Who le jaayega, sab kuch le jaayega, who kuch nahi chodega, who…"

I tried to make sense of what she was saying but no avail.

Geet koi nahi hai, koi tumse kuch nahi le jaayega..

Nahi who sab kuch le jaayega..woh..maan who aapko bhi mujse door kardega..woh sab kuch le jaayega..

"geet main yahin hoon, mujhe tumse koi door nahi kar sakta,"

But she didn't pay heed to my words

"Nahi who le jaayega, who pehle bhi le gaya tha, who baby ko bhi le jaayega, who aap ko bhi le jaayega, who sab kuch le jaayega,"

"Geet," I shook her violently.

But she still continued to blabber the same thing. I held her onto my chest and she kept crying.

After a few minutes I realized that her sobs had died out. I looked at her and realized that she had slept off.

I pried her hands off me and murmured Geet into her ear.

But no response. I shook her but still there was no response from her. I realized that she had not slept off but fainted.
