Santoshi was setting the table when she heard the main door unlock, she walked towards the hallway to see Dev coming in with a big bag in his hand "1 order 15 well-done, and 1 order 12 very well-done" he grinned as he put the bag on the table.. sniffed a bit "dal soup?!" he asked Santoshi, she nodded "woha! how do you know it's my favorite?!" he sat and gave her the steak dish, and took his then gave her the soup bowl "please" he grinned.

She took his and poured for him, he took a sip from the soup and sighed "you know Santoshi? i shouldn't have gone all the way to Steak House.. this soup right here could damage their business" he shook his head, slowly looked at Santoshi to see her half-smiling looking down

He kept looking at her with his heart when her smile faded "you're looking at me.."

"sorry" he blushed smiling "i don't think i will be eating this steak" he finished his bowl of soup then gave it to her "please"

After she filled his bowl with soup, she tried to cut the steak when her hand got numb and the fork fell, Santoshi started massaging her hand, Dev looking at her worried "it's fine now" she said annoyed "happens every 2 hours.." she sat back still massaging her shoulder

Dev looked at her plate, he took his fork and knife and started cutting her steak in small pieces while Santoshi looking at him, he smiled as he gave her his fork "yeh lo.." but she didn't take it, her hand would've touched his.. he put it on her plate and kept on drinking his soup.. Santoshi got up and walked towards the kitchen, he looked at her worried but she came back with a fork and placed it next to his plate then sat and started eating her steak.

After a week and while Santoshi and Dev were sitting on the bed

"i'm going back to work tomorrow" Santoshi moved her head his way but didn't look at him "they gave me only a week off for the honeymoon" he smiled looking at her

"when do you have to wake up?"

He sighed "7.."

She nodded "what do you wear for work?"

"suits.. i have to wear them or i will get suspended!" he sighed "i'd rather jeans and shirt, casual you know? but i tried it.. and my boss sent me back home to change.. felt like a kid" Santoshi half-smiled not looking at him, he grinned just seeing her smiling.. even if it wasn't full one, then he remembered not to look too long at her and quickly looked away.

She yawned then slowly rested on the pillows "Santoshi" she opened her eyes "do you need anything?"

She looked at him confused "what?"

He looked at the blanket then at her "aren't you cold?" she noddd, then grabbed the blanket and covered herself, he smiled covering himself too "good night"

At 7 am, Santoshi knocked on Dev's nightstand, he opened his eyes and looked back "good morning" he said sounding sleepy

"it's 7 now.. breakfast is ready.." she walked towards the door of the bedroom

He sighed sitting on the bed "i need to work, i need to work, i need to work" he repeated closing his eyes

Santoshi stopped looking back at Dev "kya?" she asked

He opened his eyes "i have to say this to be able to get my butt off the bed and actually go to work" he shook his head, but his heart started beating fast as he heard a soft giggle, he looked at Santoshi to see her giggling not looking at him "really" he started acting like nothing special has happened "hate working.." he shook his head getting off the bed "but i guess i have a motive to get my butt off"

"what's that?" she asked

"your breakfast!" he grinned getting his towels out of the closet "best breakfast in the world"

She nodded "it's ready.." she walked outside the bedroom

Once she did, Dev started doing a silly happy dance remembering Santoshi's sweet giggles. He walked towards the dining table wearing a black suit with blue tie, Santoshi took a glimpse of him and her heart started beating fast that she was staring at him.

He felt her eyes on him but didn't react to it, instead he started eating breakfast as if there was nothing happening, but inside him he was melting "ok then" Santoshi quickly looked down "have got to go now" she nodded getting up with him "be careful" she nodded, he leaned down but she moved a step back "allow me" he whispered, she slowly shook her head as no, he smiled "take care"

Before he leaves "suno" she stopped, he turned to see her "if.." she held her shirt tight "if i need something.. toh.."

"call me.."

"don't know your number.."

"oh" he giggled "stupid me.." he walked towards their bedroom and wrote down his number "here" she kept looking at the paper, he put it down on her nightstand "whatever you need.. call me ok?" she nodded

He kept staring at her "what?" she asked firmly

"i won't hurt you Santoshi.." tears fell from her eyes "i promise"

"i used to trust people so much.. so much that i got hurt" she folded her arms to her chest "it's hard to just stand right in front of you now.."

"i know.."

"then don't ask me for anything that i can't give" she sniffed "i can't give you love.. i can't give you trust.. i can't give you anything" she wiped her tears

He nodded "ji.." he smiled "take care.." then walked pass her outside

She slowly sat on the bed and started to have more tears, it was a confusion inside her.. like a war within herself and she didn't know what side she should take. The side that told her Dev is a good man.. or the side that warned her from him.. that she will get hurt again. She sighed heavily then got up to start working around the house.

Dev arrived at 1:30, he could smell tandoori chicken and dal soup right from the door, he smiled walking inside "hello" he said sitting on the sofa "ufff" he closed his eyes and rested his head back

Santoshi walked towards the table and put a plate down, she looked over at the sofa to see Dev with his head back, her heart ached her, she almost ran towards him "kya hua?" she asked sounding worried

He opened his eye "tired" he sighed "so tired" he took off his jacket

She didn't know what to do "haan" she held her shirt tight "have lunch first.. then.."

"ye" he smiled "i'll take a nap.." he got up and walked towards the table "i still can't believe you can cook all this" he sat down, he took a bite from the tandoori chicken and closed his eyes "this is so yummy.." she half-smiled "it's going to make me sleep forever" he giggled and kept on eating

They ate in silence, Santoshi cleaned up and went to the bedroom to see Dev sleeping in his suit, she took the blanket and threw it on him.. made sure it covers him all. She sat on her side of the bed and looked back at him, he coughed a bit and opened his eyes to catch her staring eyes, He slowly reached his hand for her.. she looked at it and felt a tear fall, she gave him her back shaking her head, he got off the bed and sat on his knees in front of her.. still reaching his hand for her "i don't know what to do now" she whispered with her tears on her cheeks

"just hold my hand.. and i promise, i won't ever let you go"

She saw honesty in his eyes but was still scared "why did you marry me?" she asked

He lowered his head "i don't know" he lied

"you know what i went through! you damn saved me!" she almost yelled "why did you marry me?"

Silence covered the room, only sound was Santoshi's crying "my life has changed since i saved you" Santoshi slowly was calming down "i couldn't think about anything else but you.. had to take time off work.. to make sure i marry you" his was still down, she was looking at him "i.." he paused "i didn't want you to go through this stage of life alone"

She felt her heart pounding as she asked "why?"

He smiled at her "don't know," he shook his head "don't really know.." he paused "but i know that you won't be able to trust nor love me.. i know that it will take time.. lots of time.. and i don't mind waiting.."

She sniffed looking at his hand "this will take time too"

He nodded "ji" he took his hand away, he lowered his head, still on the floor in front of her "thanks"

"for what?"

"talking to me" he smiled at her "this was our first conversation.. will never forget it" she half-smiled looking down "have to rest for a while.. my shift starts at 4.."

She nodded "will wake you up at 3.."

"3:15 please.." he paused looking at her smile "you should smile more" she looked at him "really.. it's.. beautiful" she blushed and looked away "sorry.." he got up and took his pjs then changed in the bathroom, when he came out, Santoshi wasn't in the room anymore.. he lied down "wish i could tell you more.." he sighed "when you allow me.."
