Scene 20 :

Sid and Riddhima walked into the bedroom feeling exhausted. Especially Riddhima. She had fallen asleep in the car and she had barely managed to keep her eyes open as she got home and into the room. She took off her jacket and climbed straight into bed. Sid too was tired and followed suit. However, inspite of his exhaustion, Sid wasn't able to sleep. After the day's distractions, finally he had time to think and his thoughts kept going back to the movement he had noticed last night, the broken glass pane, the broken fuse and today Riddhima had noticed something too. Was he just being paranoid? Even if it had all been deliberately done, it could just as well been the hand of a thief' The fuse broken to make sure no one spotted him and breaking the glass pane to distract everyone' But then for some reason or the other he might not have been able to get in as he had planned' That had to be it' There was no reason to suspect Armaan's hand in this. Armaan couldn't be here. If he had left Sanjeevani, Dr. Shashank would have definitely let him know' Or Shilpa would have' Just to be on the safer side, he would call Dr. Shashank tomorrow and talk to him' Having decided that, Sid turned on his side, took Riddhima in his arms and went to sleep' He had just fallen asleep when he heard the sound of footsteps' They were most definitely footsteps, outside the window' He even saw a shadow move across the window' Sid slowly tried to move away from Riddhima but his movement woke Riddhima'

Riddhima : What happened Sid?

Sid : Kuch nahi, paani peene jaa raha hoon'

Riddhima : Theek hai

Sid slowly got up and walked towards the window, careful not to make any noise. Abruptly, he pushed the window open but there was no one there. Out of Sid's sight, however, further along the wall, however, there was a shadow of a man'

Sid shook his head. "I must be going mad'" He forced himself to relax, closed the window and went back to bed.

Scene 21 : The next morning'

Sid woke up to find Riddhima already showered and getting ready' He walked up to her and hugged her from behind'

Riddhima : Good morning Dr. Modi

Sid (still sleepy) : Good morning' Ithni subah subah ready hoke kahan jaa rahi ho?

Riddhima : Arey bhool gaye? Wo jo Dr. Dhruv ke patient hain, aaj unki surgery hai na..

Sid : Arey haan' Main tho bhool hi gaya.. Main jaldi thayar hoke aatha hoon'

Riddhima was putting her earrings on and suddenly the fastener slips from her hands. She looks down worriedly.

Riddhima : Oho, ab yeh kahan gir gaya?

Sid : Kya hua?

Riddhima : Dekho na Sid, mere earring ka fastener kahin gir gaya. Ab ithna chhota sa hai, kahan dhoondhoon?

Sid : Ek minute, main tumhari madad kartha hoon..

They both start searching the floor for the fastener.

Sid looks beneath the dressing table. He can't see anything so he puts his hand in to search. He touches something cool and pulls it out' It was a stone!!! Sid gasps'

Riddhima : Mila?

Sid : Nahi'

Sid thinks to himself : Where could a stone come from? The kids don't come in here and its unlikely they will carry stones into the house. Could it have been here from before? How did it reach under the dressing table?

He puts his hand under the dressing table again and finds Riddhima's fastener.

Sid : Mil gaya'

Riddhima : Oh thank God' Thank you Sid' Ab tum jaldi se thayyar ho jao aur breakfast ke liye aa jao ok?

Sid nods his head absently' Riddhima kisses him on his forehead and leaves the room' Sid pulls out the stone from underneath the drawer.

Sid : What if someone had thrown this stone in that night?' Oh So what? That doesn't prove anything' You are just going mad Siddhant Modi' Take a chill pill, relax man!

He throws the stone out throw the window, closes the window and goes to get ready.

Scene 22 : Evening time. Sid and Riddhima are sitting in the Kohinoor restaurant enjoying the complimentary dinner they had won at the Snow Carnival the day before. The restaurant is a nice and elegant one with delicious food. There was soft soothing music in the background and it added to the relaxing effect. Sid and Riddhima are enjoying themselves and relaxing in the ambience of the restaurant after a tiresome day at the hospital where they had worked with Dr. Dhruv on a pretty complicated case. They had asked Dr. Dhruv and Juhi to join them but they had refused saying that they were too exhausted and as it is the kids were already feeling sleepy.

Sid : Kaafi achchi jagah hai na?

Riddhima : Hmmm'

Sid : Bass ek cheez ki kami hai..

Riddhima : Kya?

Sid : Tumhari ek smile ki'

Riddhima smiles'

Sid : Hmmmmmm ab theek hai' Riddhima, waise mujhe tumse kuch baath karni thi..

Riddhma : Haan bolo Sid'

Sid : Humne lautne ke bare mein sochna chahiye'

Riddhima stiffened for a minute'

Sid : If you aren't ready yet then we will stay on' No problem' Lekin hume aaj nahi tho kal lautna hoga na?

Riddhima relaxes, lets out a deep breathe and says

Riddhima : Tum sahi keh rahe ho' Main isse bhaag nahi sakthi'

Sid : Aur tumhe bhaagne ki zaroorath bhi nahi hai Riddhima'

He reaches across the table to hold Riddhima's hand.

Sid : Main tumhare saath hoon' Hamesha' Chahe jo bhi ho jaaye' Jo bhi mushkil aayegi hum saath milke uska samna karenge'

Riddhima looks at him with all her love reflected in her eyes' She places her other hand on top of his'

Riddhima : Haan, agar tum mere saath ho tho mujhe kisi baath ka darr nahi' Main wapas chaloongi'

Sid : Tum nahi Riddhima' Hum' Hum wapas chalenge'

They sit there looking into each other's eyes'

Just then the music in the restaurant stops' Then a tape is played' As soon as the song starts, Riddhima's eyes widen in horror and shock' She covers her mouth with her hand to stop herself from screaming' The song is "Asmani rang ho'" sung by Armaan. Sid watches as the blood drains from Riddhima's face and she bites back a scream' Sid immediately leans over to her'

Sid : Kya hua Riddhima? Kya hua? Tum theek tho ho na?

Riddhima (in a broken voice) : Sid! Sid! Wo! Wo yahan hai!!!

Sid : Kaun Riddhima ? Kaun yahan hai?

Riddhima : Armaan! Armaan yahan hai' Yeh gaana' yeh uska gaana hai, yeh uski awaz hai'

Sid is shocked, then he quickly turns around and scans the restaurant' There was no Armaan anywhere in sight'

Sid : Kya tumhe yakeen hai Riddhima ki yeh Armaan ki hi awaz hai?

Riddhima : Haan Sid! Haan! Wo yahin kahin hai' He wants me to know that he is here'

Sid : Chalo yahan se'

They both get up and quickly walk over to the front desk'

Sid : Suniye, yeh jo tape aap play kar rahe hain, yeh aapko kahan se mila? Kisne diya?

Manager : Arey wo sahab jo table number 13 pe baithe the unhone.

Sid : Kahan hai table number 13?

Manager : Iss taraf sir.. Lekin suniye Sir

Sid and Riddhima rush towards the table the manager had indicated without responding' it was just two tables away from where they had sat!!! But there was no one there. They go back to the front desk.

Sid : Wahan tho koi nahi hai

Manager : wohi tho main aapko bathana chah raha tha, wo sir tho yeh tape dekar chale gaye aur unhone kaha tha ki aap unhe dhoondthe aaoge tho main yeh aapko doon'

The manager hands an envelope to Sid. The envelope reads "To my basket'" Sid hands the envelope to Riddhima'

Riddhima : Mujhe nahi chahiye yeh'

She tries to tear it up but Sid stops her'

Sid : Nahi Riddhima! Pls meri baath suno.. Isse apne paas rakho aur chalo yahan se'

They leave the restaurant hurriedly. Ramlal was waiting outside with the car. Sid takes a quick glance all around but does not see Armaan anywhere' They get into the car and leave'

Inside the car, Sid tries to console an upset Riddhima'

Sid : Dekho Riddhima, main jaantha hoon tum iss waqt bahut pareshaan ho, Armaan ki harkathon se' Lekin usse bhaagthe rehena koi solution nahi hai'. Humme uska samne karna hoga Riddhima'. Lets get this over with once and for all' Pls' Wo envelope kholo aur dekho ki Armaan ne kya likha hai'

With shaking hands, Riddhima opens the envelope. Inside it was a folded piece of paper. She opens it to read'

Dear Basket,

Aakhir maine tumhe dhoond hi liya' Aur main jaantha hoon ki tumhe bhi yeh patha hai ki main yahin hoon' Tumhare aas paas' Sid ne bahut galath kiya tumhe mujhse alag karne ki koshish karke' lekin kal, jiss tarah se carnival mein tumhare nazrein baar baar mujhe dhoondh rahi thi, mujhe yakeen ho gaya ki tum abhi bhi sirf mero ho' Hamara pyaar ab bhi ithna gehra hai ki tum mujhe mehsoos kar sakthi ho'

When you did not come to Sanjeevani for two days in a row, I knew something was wrong' I know we can't survive without seeing each other for so long' I went to Sid's house. His neighbors told me he hadn't been home in a couple of days' Thab hi mujhe shaq ho gaya ki kuch gadbad hai' Then I went to Dr. Shashank's house' Tum mujhe wahan bhi nahi mili' Lekin wahan I overheard Dr. Shashank aur Padma aunty's conversation aur mujhe patha chala ki tum yahan Shimla mein ho' Bas agli flight pakadke mein Shimla aa gaya' Ithne din main bass tumhe dur se dekhtha raha' Main jaantha hoon Sid tumhe yahan apni marzi ke khilaf laya hai' Uss din jab khidki ke paas khade hoke usne tumhe chhua, mujhse dekha nahi gaya' Iss liye maine fuse ka wire kaat diya aur haan window ka glass bhi thod diya' Phir main wahan se chala gaya kyunki main nahi chahtha tha ki koi mujhe wahan dekh le' Kyunki main tumse akele mein milna chahtha tha' sabse dur' Tum mujhse milne aaogi na Riddhima? Phir hum yahan se kahin dur chale jaayenge' Inn sabse dur jo hamare pyaar ko nahi samajhthe' Sid se bhi dur' Sirf hum dono'

Main jaantha hoon Riddhima shayad tum mujhse uss thaare ki baath ko leke thoda sa naraz ho' Main jantha hoon Riddhima ki tumhe aise sabke samne apna pyar jathane mein sharm aathi hai' Lekin mujhe tumhe manana aath hai Riddhima' Kal jithni bechaini se tumhari nazarein mujhe dhoond rahi thi'Mujhe patha hai Riddhima tum zyada der thak mujhse dur nahi reh sakthi'

Jab tum yeh letter padhogi tho mujhe patha hai Sid tumhare saath hoga' Tumhe hamare pyaar ka vastha Riddhima, usse sachayi batha do ki tum uski kabhi nahi ho sakthi, ki tum hamesha hamesha ke liye sirf meri ho, hum ek hain' Armaan Riddhima ka naam koi alag nahi kar saktha' Usse yeh batha do aur mere paas laut aao' Shayad yeh padhne ke baad Sid tumhe yahan se kahin aur le jaane ki koshish karega' Lekin main vada kartha hoon Riddhima, who tumhe jahan bhi le jaayega, main tumhe dhoondh loonga'

Mujhse kal shyam town center ke community hall mein aake milo Riddhima' Akele' Sid ko sab kuch batha do aur usse chhodke mere paas aa jao' Ek baar tum mere paas aa jao, phir Sid ko chahe jo karna hai who kar le, lekin main hum dono ko phir kabhi alag nahi hone doonga' I promise' I love you Riddhima' Kuch bhi ho tumhe aana padega' Ab mujhe kisi ki parvah nahi' Tumhe paane ke liye main kuch bhi kar jaoonga' Mera bharosa karo Riddhima' Humme koi alag nahi kar saktha'

Tumhara, sirf tumhara

Armaan

Sid, tum chahkar bhi Riddhima aur mujhe alag nahi kar paoge' Who sirf aur sirf meri hai' Riddhima ko wapas mere paas aane do' Iss mein hi sab ki bhalayi hai'

Riddhima crumples the sheet of paper in frustration and starts crying'

Riddhma : Kyun? Armaan yeh sab kyun kar raha hai?

Sid : Riddhima, Ek baar Armaan ki nazar se bhi tho dekho' Do saal thak usne tumse deewano ki tarah pyaar kiya' Wo accept nahi kar paa raha ki tum kisi aur se pyaar kar sakthi ho' Humme Armaan ko samjhana hoga'

Riddhima : Koi fayda nahi' Maine usse khud kaha hai ki main sirf aur sirf tumse (Sid se) pyaar karthi hoon lekin phir bhi wo yeh sab kar raha hai'

Sid : Kisi na kisi tarah se Armaan ko yakeen dilana tho padega humme'

Riddhima turns to stare out of the window' Then abruptly she turns towards Sid'

Riddhima : Yahan se kahin aur chalthe hain Sid' Bahut dur, jahan Armaan humme dhoond nahi paayega'

Sid : Tumne letter mein padha nahi? Armaan ne likha hai ki chahe main tumhe jahan le jaoon wo humme dhoond hi lega' Hum kahan bhaagenge Riddhima? Kab thak? Aur hum kyun bhaagein? Humne kuch galath nahi kiya'

Riddhima shakes her head in despair'

Sid holds Riddhima's face in his hands and turns her towards him

Sid : Meri taraf dekho Riddhima'

Riddhima looks into his eyes'

Sid : Tumhe mujhpe yakeen hai na?

Riddhima nods'

Sid : Hamare pyaar pe yakeen hai na?

Riddhima nods again'

Sid : Tho bas, hum saath milke iss toofan ka samna karenge' Main hamesha tumhare saath hoon' Iss toofan ka samna karne mein mera saath dogi na Riddhima? Ithni himmat kar paogi na Riddhima?

Riddhima wipes away her tears and looks at Sid

Riddhima :; Haan Sid' Ab main kamzor nahi padoongi' Tum ho na mere saath' Ab mujhe kisi ka darr nahi'

Scene 23 : At the house

Sid and Riddhima tell Dhruv and Juhi the whole story'

They did not know what they would have to face as result of impressing the truth upon Armaan and how they would go about it' They could use all the help they could get and so they tell Dhruv and Juhi the whole story' Dhruv and Juhi listen in silence, worried.

Dhruv : Oh my God!

Juhi : Kya hua Dhruv?

Dhruv : Yaad hai Juhi uss din breakfast table pe mujhe Shashank ka call aaya tha?

Juhi : Haan'

Dhruv : Usne mujhse kaha tha ki Sid ka phone nahi lag raha aur pooch raha tha ki Sid aur Riddhima theek hain ki nahi'

Juhi (getting impatient) : Haan tho?

Dhruv : Usne mujhse Sid se kehne ko kaha tha ki Armaan hospital nahi aaya' Meri kuch samajh mein nahi aaya'

Juhi : Tho tumne yeh Sid ko thabhi kyun nahi bathaya'

Dhruv : Arey uske immediately baad mujhe hospital se call aya tha uss complicated case ke bare mein aur mera saara dhyan usi mein lag gaya' Yeh baath tho main bhool hi gaya'

Juhi : Dhruv tum bhi na'

Dhruv : I'm sorry mujhe patha nahi tha ki yeh ithna important hai'

Sid : Its ok' Dr. Dhruv' Ab hume patha lag hi gaya hai ki Armaan yahin hai, Shimla mein'

Juhi : Lekin meri samajh mein yeh nahi aa raha ki ithne din aise stalk karke achanck se ab yeh open letter kyun?

Dhruv : Jithna meri samajh mein aya hai, Armaan is an obsessed lover' However, kahin na kahin, abhi bhi he is kind of unsure of himself' The only thing that he is convinced of is that he loves Riddhima, Riddhima's reactions haven't been very positive so he is unsure' He doesn't want to do anything that might upset Riddhima until he is sure' So he follows her around and conveniently misinterprets her actions and reactions to prove to himself that Riddhima still loves him and isn't happy without him...

Juhi : Mathlab?

Dhruv : Ab dekho, we all know Riddhima thoroughly enjoyed herself at the Snow Carnival' She herself said so' But at the bonfire, she had the feeling she was being watched and kept looking around to see who or what was giving her this weird feeling' Armaan neglects the part that Riddhima enjoyed herself during the carnival and focuses only on the part that she had been looking around for someone and that had to be him, according to him' And why would she look around for him? Of course coz she was in love with him and was missing him or felt his presence coz their love was so strong, again, according to him' So, now he has convinced himself that Riddhima still loves him and he isn't afraid anymore to come out in the open' that's why the open letter'

Sid : That makes sense' Mujhe bhi Armaan ki harkathein samajh mein nahi aa rahi thi'

Juhi : I'm impressed'

Dhruv : Bhool gayi? Maine Psychiatry ki fellowship bhi ki thi college ke baad'

Riddhima : Lekin ab kya?

Sid : Hume Armaan se milna chahiye'

Dhruv : I think Riddhima ko Armaan se milna chahiye' Tumhare kuch bhi kehne se Armaan ko koi farak nahi padega Sid' Lekin Riddhima ke kehne se padega'

Riddhima : Lekin maine khud Armaan ko bathaya hai ki main Sid se pyaar karthi hoon' aur main uski kabhi nahi ho sakthi'

Dhruv : Hmmm' I know' Lekin ab tumhe Armaan ko bathana hoga ki Sid aur tum ek ho gaye ho' If you understand what I mean' Even if it's a lie'.

Riddhima and Sid look at each other' It wasn't a lie' But there was still something'

Sid : Lekin kya Armaan yeh sah paayega? Pichchli baar when he sensed that Riddhima and I were growing closer, he took to drinking, started street fighting'

Dhruv ; Self destructive behaviour' I can understand' Dekho Sid, that's the only option we have' Riddhima can keep screaming to Armaan that she loves you and not him and he will keep rejecting it and thinking of ways to prove that Riddhima is lying'

What he needs is a shock' something as shocking as the fact that the two of you had consummated your marriage willingly' Mind you' Not for a second should Armaan feel that Sid had forced you into anything or we don't know how he will react' His present state of mind is precarious and you have to be extra cautious Riddhima'

Riddhima lets out a long drawn breath and nods'

Sid : Kya tum yeh kar paogi Riddhima?

Riddhima : Haan Sid, main yeh karoongi, tumhare liye, hamare liye, hamare pyaar ke liye'

Scene 24 : Dhruv and Juhi's bedroom

Juhi : Kya hua Dhruv? Kya soch rahe ho?

Dhruv : I have a gut feeling Juhi that Armaan pe iss shock ka sahi effect nahi hoga'

Juhi : Mathlab?

Dhruv : Armaan ki deewangi usse yeh kabhi manne hi nahi degi ki uski Riddhima kisi aur ki ho sakthi hai' He is going to misinterpret it again'

Juhi : Tum kehna kya chahthe ho Dhruv?

Dhruv : Yehi ki Armaan ko lagega ki Sid ne Riddhima se koi zabardasthi ki hai, yeh kisi tarah Riddhima ka fayda uthaya hai'

Juhi : Oh my God! Phir kya hoga?

Dhruv : Patha nahi'

Juhi : Aise kaise Dhruv? Humme unhe rokna hoga' Apne paagalpan main Armaan Sid ko maar daalega' Tumne yeh unhe kyun nahi bathaya?

Dhruv : Maine Sid ko bathaya' Usne kaha ki he is willing to take the risk' Riddhima uski zindagi hai aur Armaan uska dosth, bade bhai jaise, that's what he said' He wanted things to return to normal between the three of them and for that he was willing to take any risk'

Juhi : Lekin yeh galath hai Dhruv' Riddhima iss baath ke liye kabhi nahi maanegi'

Dhruv : Sid ne mujhse vaada liya hai ki iss baare mein main Riddhima ko kuch nahi bathaoonga'

Juhi : Lekin koi tho aur raastha hoga Dhruv' Pls' Socho'

Dhruv : Tum bhi yeh achche se jaanthi ho aur main bhi ki iss situation mein hamare paas aur koi chaara nahi hai'

Juhi : Hum Armaan ko police se pakadvo sakthe hain' We can send him back to the mental asylum where he came from'

Dhruv : Uss se Armaan ki halath poori tarah theek kabhi nahi hogi' If he is caught by the police or sent to the mental asylum that will only infuriate him more' Sometimes, to treat a disease, you need to let it come out full-blown' Pehle bhi jab Armaan ka treatment hua hoga tho uski bimari ko suppress kar diya hoga' Usse treat karne ke liye, we have to let the disease come out in full and then attack at its roots' The root of Armaan's disease is his obsessive love' Once we are able to deliver the shock that Riddhima had willingly become someone else's to the root of his disease' We can hopefully revive him completely' Armaan is not a bad person Juhi' He is a skilled doctor' He deserves a chance at life' This is what Sid wants too' He does not want Armaan to be arrested or condemned to the mental asylum' He wants Armaan back as the fun, vibrant and great human being he is and the talented doctor too' He understands how necessary this whole process is for that and is willing to risk himself for it'

Juhi : Meri kuch samajh mein nahi aa raha'

Dhruv : Sid is an exceptional man Juhi' Aaj thak maine uske jaisa banda zindagi mein nahi dekha'

Juhi : Lekin kal kya hoga Dhruv'

Dhruv remains silent'

Scene 25 : In Sid's and Riddhima's room

Sid is lying with Riddhima's head resting on his chest' Riddhima had fallen asleep' He gently brushes a lock of hair from her face and kisses the top of her head'

Sid (softly) : Main nahi jaantha ki kal kya hone waala hai Riddhima' Lekin main tumse hamesha pyar kartha rahoonga' Shayad poori sachchayi jaanne ke baad tum mujhe kabhi maaf nahi karogi, aur shayad tumhari poori sachchayi jaanne thak bahut der ho gayi hogi' (a lump forms in his throat)' lekin I want you to know that I love you' more than I've ever loved anything or anyone in my life' You've changed my life forever' I would do anything for you' And I want you to know that I am doing this for our friend' He deserves a chance at life' For he was the one you once were so madly in love with' To bring back the wonderful human being he used to be' Don't think I'm doing this coz I think you still love him' I know that you love me and only me and I know how deeply you love me' and I will never think otherwise' But Riddhima, I could never live in peace knowing that our life was built from the broken shards of a man's life who was dear to both of us' I know as much as you hate him now, somewhere in the corner of your heart, you too will be haunted by regret in having destroyed someone else's life' I don't want anything of that sort in our life Riddhima' And its for that perfect future of ours that I am willing to take the risk' N for a second life for Armaan' I hope you will understand and forgive me someday'.

Saying this, he kisses Riddhima's forehead and goes to sleep'.
